Arclight boards sci-fi romance 'Ederlezi Rising' (exclusive)
Also handling sales on Tribeca 2017 title Tilt.

Arclight Films has boarded sales on sci-fi romance Ederlezi Rising and mind-bending thriller Tilt, both of which are being made available to Efm buyers for the first time.

Ederlezi Rising screens in the market and is directed by Lazar Bodroza from a screenplay by Dimitrije Vojnov about a cosmonaut who falls for a female android on board a space station.

Sebastian Cavazza and American porn star Stoya play the leads. Aleksandar Protic, Jonathan English and the Film Center Serbia produce, and Arclight represents worldwide rights.

Arclight Films CEO Gary Hamilton’s team are also handling international sales on Tilt, the Tribeca 2017 premiere and Fantasia Film Festival selection that The Orchard will distribute in North America later this year.

Kasra Farahani directs and co-wrote with Jason O’Leary. The film follows an unemployed documentary filmmaker whose behavior becomes increasingly erratic in the months after his wife becomes pregnant.

'Scary Mother' triumphs at Sarajevo Film Festival

Meda Or The Not So Bright Side Of Things takes best director and best actor.Scroll down to see the full list of winners.

Ana Urushadze’s Gerogia-Estonia drama Scary Mother has won the top prize at this year’s Sarajevo Film Festival, which concludes today (Aug 18).

The film took the Heart of Sarajevo for best feature film, which comes with a financial award of €16,000. It stars Nata Murvanidze as a 50-year-old housewife who experiences family struggles as she tries to complete her first novel.

The main competition saw Romanian director Emanuel Pârvu take the Heart of Sarajevo for best director for his film Meda Or The Not So Bright Side Of Things, which comes with €10,000.

Best actress went to Ornela Kapetani for Daybreak and best actor went to Şerban Pavlu for Meda Or The Not So Bright Side Of Things.

Six projects selected for second edition of festival industry event.

Returning in 2017, Sarajevo Film Festival’s CineLink Drama strand has selected six projects for its second edition.

Showcasing television series in development, the aim of the initiative is to bolster regional TV production.

The projects will be shown to European and regional broadcasters, VoD and SVoD Operators, and will include an open pitch session followed by one-on-one meetings.

This year will also see the introduction of a new development award - a €10,000 cash prize sponsored by Film Centre Serbia.

The jury awarding the prize will consist of Meinolf Zurhorst, Tatjana Andersson and Giacomo Durzi, who will select the most promising project out of the six chosen.

Blu-ray Review: ‘The ABCs of Death’ Mistakes Endurance Test for Entertainment
Chicago – “The ABCs of Death” may easily rank as the most repugnant two hours I’ve ever had the displeasure of being condemned to review. But don’t let that entice you, gorehounds. It’s also uninspired and thoroughly monotonous. The only thing that scared me was my realization after the first short film had ended that I still had 25 films left to go. This isn’t entertainment. It’s an endurance test.

Consider the vignette about an obese woman who decides, in a fit of depression, to slice off her fat. Her self-mutilation is juxtaposed with footage of a skinny model striking poses in a commercial. The director, Xavier Gens, cuts back and forth between the imagery with such mechanical repetition that the viewer develops a mixture of nauseation and whiplash but not, alas, fear.
