- Rangy, masculine German supporting actor and occasional lead, on stage from 1925. From 1939, he also appeared in films, mainly for Universum AG (Ufa) where he was often cast as officers, chief engineers or other authority figures. After the war, he was much in demand for synchronising work, providing the German dubbing voice for, among others, Gary Cooper, William Holden and Trevor Howard. He also performed on radio plays and as a guest star on TV.
- The theater formed the hub of his activity after the war for the time being. When the film industry recovered he appeared in few movies of the 50's.
- Besides his activity as an actor he dubbed many movies and set the tone of countless radio plays.
- From 1958 he vanished from the big screen for more than a decade and played at theaters again.
- The actor Ernst von Klipstein began his career at the theater where worked among others in Cologne and Frankfurt.
