Things didn’t go well for Catherine Corcoran when she crossed paths with Art the Clown in Terrifier, but here’s hoping that things will turn out better for her character in the supernatural thriller The Block, which our friends at Bloody Disgusting report recently wrapped production. Jack Falahee (How to Get Away with Murder), Chris Noth (Sex and the City), Saphira Moran (the upcoming Beast in Me), Thomas G. Waites (The Thing), Armen Garo (The Departed), Gabrielle Lee (Chicago P.D.), Elias Koteas (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and Jackie Earle Haley (the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake) are also in the cast of the film.
Directed by Emmy nominee Craig Singer (6:45) from a screenplay by 6:45 and Dark Ride writer Robert Dean Klein, The Block centers on Falahee’s character Mitch James, who was once the golden boy of horror fiction, until an unshakable writer’s block...

Production has wrapped on a new supernatural thriller titled The Block, with the cast including Jackie Earle Haley (A Nightmare on Elm Street) and Catherine Corcoran (Terrifier).
Jack Falahee (How to Get Away with Murder), Chris Noth (Sex and the City) and Saphira Moran are also set to star in The Block, directed by Emmy nominee Craig Singer (6:45).
The film follows Mitch James (Falahee), who was once the golden boy of horror fiction, until an unshakable writer’s block brought his meteoric rise to a halt. Years later, with his career in ruins, Mitch stumbles into a dark and inexplicable event, after which, the words begin to flow again.
But inspiration proves fleeting and something shadowy and malevolent seems to be demanding more in return. As Mitch becomes entangled in a chilling cycle of creation and consequence, the true cost of his craft may be far greater than he ever imagined.

Forty-three years after its release, The Thing, as well as its lesser-known prequel, has found itself a new free streaming home.
John Carpenter's 1982 sci-fi horror classic, The Thing, and the 2011 prequel of the same name will both be available to stream on Tubi on April 1st. Based on the 1932 novella Who Goes There? by John W. Campbell Jr., The Thing follows a group of researchers who themselves get picked off by an extraterrestrial creature. The original 1982 film was made on a budget of $15 million and earned a total of $19.9 million at the box office alongside a cult following. Horror fans praise the original film for the sense of paranoia it creates, as well as the impressive practical effects and puppetry that went into the creature's design.
The original film follows a group of researchers in the Antarctic who are infiltrated by an alien creature that is capable of imitating other organisms.

A sequel series for John Carpenter's The Thing was rejected by the studio. At San Diego Comic-Con, BAFTA winner Roy Lee revealed he and Frank Darabonts attempt to bring back the horror classic.
The 1982 horror classic known for its paranoid tone and stomach-churning practical effects starred Kurt Russell as R.J. MacReady. Set in the Antarctic, the film depicts an alien creature who aims to assimilate the cast until none remain. The Thing has seen more than its fair share of spinoff material, including comics, video games, and a 2011 prequel that left much to be desired. During Collider's Producers Producing panel, Lee revealed his attempt to create a sequel television series for the franchise with Darabont.

Kurt Russell has been doing the press rounds for the Godzilla series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and if there’s one thing that this press tour has made very clear, it’s the fact that people loves to talk to Russell about John Carpenter’s 1982 classic The Thing (watch or buy it Here). The latest ones to bring up The Thing him were the folks at GQ, and this time Russell took the opportunity to reveal that he wasn’t a fan of the sombrero Carpenter had his character MacReady wear.
Russell told GQ (with thanks to Syfy Wire for the transcription of the video), “I went into wardrobe … and when I was in there, I noticed, sitting over on this chair by itself, was this enormous sombrero. And finally, at some point, I said to the wardrobe person, ‘What’s the deal with the sombrero?’ And they said, ‘Oh,...

For 41 years, people have been discussing and debating the ending of John Carpenter’s 1982 classic The Thing (watch or buy it Here). People who worked on the movie can’t even seem to agree on what was happening in the final scene. Cinematographer Dean Cundey thought he had given away the answer, but then Carpenter came in and said Cundey had “no clue” what he was talking about. So the mystery remains. And for star Kurt Russell, it’s fun to hear that people are still talking about that ending.
Russell is currently doing the press rounds for the Godzilla series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and the ending of The Thing came up during his interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. Russell said (with thanks to Screen Rant for the transcription), “We talked about that, the ending of that movie, John and I, for a long, long time. We...

We’re forty-one years down the line from the release of John Carpenter’s 1982 classic The Thing (watch or buy it Here), and fans are still wondering what exactly was going on with the last two characters in the final scene of the film. Of course, Carpenter knows – and he says that he’s the only one who knows. While cinematographer Dean Cundey has previously said that he specifically lit the scene to indicate which of the two characters had or hadn’t been assimilated by “the thing”, Carpenter refuted his claim during an interview with ComicBook.com, saying that Cundey “has no clue” what was going on in that moment.
Cundey presented what fans refer to as the “eye gleam theory”. He said that the characters were lit in a specific way throughout the movie so that the ones who were still human would have a gleam of light in their eyes.

Legendary director John Carpenter first worked with the great character actor Keith David on his 1982 film The Thing (watch or buy it Here), which has gone on to earn a reputation as being one of the best horror movies ever made. Six years later, they collaborated again on the cult classic sci-fi thriller They Live (watch it Here)… and then, apparently, they went thirty-five years without seeing each other in person. Warning: The Thing spoilers jump out of nowhere in this piece!
“The last place you want to be in a storm in Antarctica is locked up with a bunch of Norwegian guys,” Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a Columbia graduate and vertebrate paleontologist, is warned as she is flown into the tundra surrounding “Thule,” the central research station in The Thing (2011). The sequestered Norse researchers have never seen John Carpenter’s claustrophobic 1982 alien invasion classic, The Thing. After all, director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. and writer Eric Heisserer’s 2011 prequel is set at the Antarctic facility from which the very Thing from outer space splits at the beginning of the ‘82 film. So the newest movie, which is finding a quasi-renaissance on Netflix these days, is a translation of the prior events by Heijningen and Heisserer.

Warriors, come out and play-ay! Walter Hill, the prolific director of the 1979 cult classic, The Warriors, has sat down with The Hollywood Reporter recently to reflect on the making of the film. While the movie had opened dismally and to controversy, with the subject matter depicting gang warfare in New York at a time when crime was rampant, the film would go on to gain fans and become a cult hit which has since sprouted acclaim and even merchandising.
In his interview, Hill opens up about a scene in the movie where a character named Fox was killed off by getting thrown in front of an approaching subway train. He reveals that the scene was written in when he decided to let go of the actor, Thomas G. Waites, as he could not come to terms with him. Hill explains,
I feel very bad about the whole thing. We weren’t getting along very well.

Walter Hill, director of the cult classic The Warriors, reflects on the firing of actor Thomas G. Waites from the film, saying he regretted killing off his character early. Though indifferently received upon release in 1979, the film would go on to be one of the biggest cultural hits of its time, with its plot, quotes, and style influencing movies to this day. Hill would go on to direct a number of other action films throughout his career, including Streets of Fire, Red Heat, and 48 Hrs., and the pilot for HBO's Deadwoodâ.â.â.â.â.â..
The Warriors follows a street gang as they travel 30 miles back to their home turf in New York City after being framed for the murder of a rival gang leader, encountering other gangs and police along the way. One of the main characters, Fox (played by Waites), was met with an untimely end about...

Dismissed by some critics upon its initial release in 1979, The Warriors has only grown in admiration over the years, and is now considered one of the most imitated studio films of all time.
The film is credited with accelerating the rise of hip-hop culture, with its dialogue sampled by the likes of Ice Cube and Wu-Tang Clan. Its plot has inspired video games like Street Fighter. Its look has influenced everything from Michael Jackson videos to the movies of Jordan Peele.
But its writer-director Walter Hill says it could have been even more progressive and forward-looking had he included a group of gay gang members in the final cut.
The Warriors is based on Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel of the same name, but Hill took the material even further, applying a comic book sensibility to Yurick’s tale of New York tribalism, itself inspired by Xenophon’s Anabasis,...

When John Carpenter’s The Thing hit theaters back in June 1982, the only thing scarier than the film were the reviews. Vincent Canby of The New York Times called it “instant junk” while Cinefantastique featured The Thing on one front cover alongside the question, “Is this the most hated movie of all time?”
Yet, if anything, the past 40 years has seen The Thing become one of the most beloved sci-fi horror movies of all time, influencing everything from Stranger Things to Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. To paraphrase Die Hard 2, it was simply a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, with Carpenter’s sci-fi led gorefest arriving alongside Blade Runner on June 25 of its year, just a few weeks after the family friendly alien fun of E.T.

During a recent interview with horror maestro and filmmaking legend John Carpenter, the Halloween director teased that The Thing reboot is in development courtesy of Blumhouse Productions and Jason Blum. After declaring that the 1982 science fiction horror movie classic is the one from his back catalogue that he is most proud of, Carpenter all but confirmed that the reboot is happening, and that he may even be involved.
"I think he's gonna be working on The Thing... rebooting The Thing. I may be involved with that. Maybe. Down the road."
You may recall that earlier in the year it was announced that a big screen adaptation of Frozen Hell was in the works. For those unaware, Frozen Hell is the recently unearthed expanded version of John W. Campbell Jr's novella Who Goes There?, which served as the basis for Carpenter's The Thing. Published in 1938, Who Goes There? was released as...

With exactly two weeks left until Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters, a new photo of the enigmatic character DJ, played by Benicio del Toro, has emerged, along with new details from the actor himself. There is very little we know about this character up until now, except that he is an expert "slicer," the Star Wars universe term for a computer hacker, and that he is sought out by Finn (John Boyega) and Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran) on their mission to the casino planet of Canto Bight. Empire Magazine revealed a new photo of DJ, with the actor offering some new details about this character, who is not to be trusted.
"This character could come straight out of a Bob Dylan or Tom Waites song, or even a Dostoyevsky novel. He's like something out of Dickens; there have been characters like him in all kinds of literature.

Thanks to Empire we have a new photo from director Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It features Benicio Del Toro's character known as DJ. He's one of those shady characters who will be playing both sides. The character was initially described as follows:
“DJ is an enigmatic figure whose tattered, threadbare clothes and lackadaisical attitude conceal a sharp mind and expert skills.”
We also know that he will be a part of the mission involving Finn and Rose as they embark on on a journey to the wealthy, gambling resort city of Canto Bight. DJ is also said to be a "slicer" and John Boyega previously explained:
“We just need a codebreaker and he’s the best in the galaxy. Unfortunately, he’s very dodgy and only in it for financial gain. He doesn’t fight for any side."
We now have a bit more information...

Vice Admiral Holdo, Rose Tico, and DJ are undoubtedly the three buzzworthy newcomers to Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s human cast. But whereas Holdo and Tico fight on behalf of the Resistance, it’s difficult to know exactly where Benicio Del Toro’s hacker stands in the imminent sequel.
Back when the actor first climbed on board, his underworld drifter became associated with the word ‘villain,’ but it turns out DJ actually operates between good and evil – between the light and the dark. Granted, Del Toro’s character is still riddled with mystery and head-scratching ambiguity, but thanks to Empire Magazine, we now have some new intel (along with a high-res action shot!) pertaining to Benicio Del Toro’s newcomer. And, well, let’s just say it’s better to stay in his good books.

It.s been 36 years since The Warriors hit theaters and became an iconic cult classic. The film followed a wrongfully accused gang from Coney Island as they made their way through various hostile neighborhoods of New York. Now, some of the original members of the cast have reunited for one last subway ride. Check the video of their heartwarming reunion below. Produced by Rolling Stone, the video shows the actors Michael Beck (Swan), David Harris (Cochise), Terry Michos (Vermin), Dorsey Wright (Cleon), and Thomas G. Waites (Fox) assembling in their full Warriors garb. The men have lost a step in their old age, no longer sprinting through the stations as they did in the movie. The 1979 classic The Warriors is more popular now than it has ever been. And the main cast was on the scene for a special event celebrating the movie at Coney Island. Michael Beck (Swan), David Harris (Cochise), Dorsey Wright (Cleon), Terry Michos (Vermin) and Thomas G. Waites (Fox) were all in attendance to meet fans and regale audiences with memories of making the Walter Hill cult masterpiece. They even recreated their iconic subway ride. The film still has an impact on fans to this day, 36 years after its release, and has even spawned actual gangs who've made Coney Island their turf.
The original cast of The Warriors met back up on the Q Train on September 13, taking one last ride together into Coney Island. There, hundreds of fans awaited the street soldiers. It was these same fans who had organized this event in a Diy push to reunite the stars all in one place.

The Warriors is a Coney Island tradition, and a bunch of the original cast members got together for a "Last Subway Ride" reunion event on September 13. Rolling Stone joined the cast 37 years later, including Michael Beck (Swan), David Harris (Cochise), Dorsey Wright (Cleon), Terry Michos (Vermin), and Thomas G. Waites (Fox), as they took the familiar path on the Coney Island–bound Q train. "These subways are different than they were in 1978," said Beck, head warrior in charge.
