‘For Sale By Exorcist’ Makes its Way to VOD
Image
Just when you thought house hunting couldn’t get more stressful, For Sale By Exorcist arrives with a supernatural twist that makes bidding wars look tame by comparison. The horror-comedy feature debut from Melissa Lamartina is now available on VOD, bringing demonic possessions, bleeding walls and property value woes together in a gloriously unhinged genre mash-up.

Set in the cutthroat world of haunted house real estate, the film follows Susan Price, a fast-talking realtor with a unique sideline—she’s also a certified exorcist. Played with deadpan charm by Emily Classen, Susan has built a reputation flipping cursed properties into market-ready homes, one banishment at a time. But when she finally finds her dream house, the tables turn. The spirits she’s evicted over the years begin to strike back, determined to ensure her forever home becomes her final resting place.

Billed as This Is Spinal Tap by way of Poltergeist,...

‘For Sale By Exorcist’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: Emily Classen, John Dimes, Kalima Young | Written by Chris Lamartina, Rob Walker | Directed by Melissa Lamartina

Susan Price is a real estate agent, she also happens to be a certified exorcist. That’s actually a pretty good combination, as she picks up haunted houses on the cheap, gets rid of the ghosts and sells them at a profit. She’s the central character in director Melissa Lamartina’s film For Sale by Exorcist. Written by her husband Chris Lamartina and Rob Walker with Eduardo Sanchez as one of the producers it’s a mockumentary about Susan’s struggles to clear the house of her dreams of all the spirits she’s cast out of their homes before they turn her into a spirit as well.

We hear about her start in real estate, being tasked with selling the homes the agency couldn’t move, one of which was the...

Image
Leading arthouse sales company The Match Factory has acquired distribution rights to murdered Lithuanian filmmaker Mantas Kvedaravičius’ documentary “Mariupolis 2,” ahead of the film’s premiere next week at the Cannes Film Festival as a Special Screening.

Kvedaravičius was captured and murdered by the Russian army in Mariupol, Ukraine in early April. The Match Factory worked with Kvedaravičius on his debut feature “Barzakh,” which played in the Berlinale in 2011.

The film will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival “thanks to the immeasurable effort of his producers and collaborators who have put all their strength into continuing to share his work, his vision and his films following Mantas’ death,” The Match Factory observed.

In the campaign, the Diprimios’ describe Carver as, “a throwback 80’s style slasher that follows a group of teenagers who are haunted by a despicable act they committed on Halloween when they were younger.

Encapsulated Cinema: Killer Weekend, Birdemic: Shock and Terror, and Pig Hunt
Someone recently asked me if I considered any of the movies released in the past five years or so were worthy of cult stardom. It was an interesting question, one that I took a bit more seriously than any normal individual would. After extremely careful consideration, I came to the following conclusions. Of course, these aren’t the only motion pictures that came to mind when pondering this question, but they were first and foremost in my mind at the time. I’m sure many probably will not agree with these selections, and I’m perfectly okay with that. After all, isn’t that the beauty of cult cinema? Here they are, in no particular order. Killer Weekend (2007) Director Rob Walker’s 2007 deliriously atrocious straight-to-video slasher “Killer Weekend” — a film about an abusive husband who begins savagely murdering his wife’s family and friends — is the very definition of a hideous motion picture,...

Chiller: The Complete Series DVD review
Even if you watched it, it's unlikely you'll ever remember the 90s supernatural horror/fantasy series Chiller originally shown in 1995 on ITV; There's a good reason for that. Recognisable writers and well-respected British actors make everything look good on paper, but watching the five episodes suggests they were nothing more than early pre-fame career-building work for the majority of the cast.

Set in London and flashing back to a Ouija board séance, Prophecy is the opening story. As Francesca's friends drop around her, she comes to realise her new boyfriend's son, Edward, may have something to do with the tragic bout of accidents. Prophecy relies on the lead's Catholic religion and her boyfriend's (Nigel Havers) family history. As a sadist and paedophile, Marquis Francis Halkin is the “black sheep” of the family and somehow young Edward seems psychically linked to him. The eerie Halkin family motto “Non Omnis Moriar” (“I...

Afm 2010: An Eclectic Cast Prepare to Fight The Fallen
The plot synopsis for The Fallen might make it sound like a potential Syfy original movie; however, it's not. In addition, the actors assembled for this action-horror creature feature is quite an eclectic cast by b-movie standards.

Starring in The Fallen will be Peter Stormare (Satan in Constantine), former TV Superman Dean Cain, former TV Conan Ralf Moeller, ultimate fighting superstar Tito Ortiz, and the under-appreciated Mark Dacascos (Brotherhood of the Wolf, "Iron Chef"). Maybe I'm alone in thinking so, but that's sounds like quite the cast for an action-oriented monster movie.

Synopsis:

Several mercenaries and one faithless poacher seemingly join forces for a rescue mission and end up battling an immortal beast while realizing the dream of one man determined to find a treasure the beast is bound to protect.

Camelot Entertainment Group is the distributor for the still-in-pre-production The Fallen to be directed by Rob Walker from a script by Erik Anderson.

Camelot launches genre division
Camelot Entertainment Group has launched DarKnight Pictures, a genre division that will acquire and distribute films for domestic and international markets, picking up flicks "Nude Nuns With Big Guns" and "Samurai Avenger: The Blind Wolf" as its first two releases.

At the same time, Camelot has set Dean Cain, Tito Ortiz, Peter Stormare and Marc Decascos in "The Fallen," an action thriller co-produced by Camelot to be directed by Rob Walker and produced by Grant Cramer and Erik Anderson. "Fallen" will be released by the company's just-created distribution unit, Camelot Distribution Group.

DarKnight and Cdg are headed by newly appointed Jamie Thompson, who will oversee global sales and acquisitions.

Camelot chairman Robert Atwell said the DarKnight label is positioned to take advantage of the "exciting time" genre films are experiencing worldwide.

The two DarKnight titles are clearly aimed for the grindhouse crowd. "Nuns" centers on Sister Sarah,...
