In the second episode of HBO’s “Los Espookys,” Renaldo’s (Bernardo Velasco) frustrated sister Beatriz (Giannina Fruttero) Googles the “easiest way to make money from my Latin home” because she’s sick of being dependent of her mother. Beatriz quickly lands on the site of Hierbalite — a spoof of the real-life nutrition company Herbalife — a business co-creator Ana Fabrega tells TheWrap she knows all too well.

“I didn’t know anything about the company until my mom started to do it,” Fabrega said. Herbalife relies upon “distributors” like Fabrega’s mother to buy their products at a discount and then sell them to others at retail price for a profit.

The Writers Guild of Canada (Wgc) just announced the finalists for the Wgc Screenwriting Awards. Those finalists come from the industry of television, filmmaking and web series. Besides, comedian Debra Digiovanni will host the 14th Annual Wgc Screenwriting Awards on April 19, 2010.

Mississippi Damned (2009)
Tina Mabry's "Mississippi Damned," an independent American production, won the Gold Hugo as the best film in the 2009 Chicago International Film Festival, and added Gold Plaques for best supporting actress (Jossie Thacker) and best screenplay (Mabry). It tells the harrowing story of three black children growing up in rural Mississippi in circumstances of violence and addiction. The film's trailer and an interview with Mabry are linked at the bottom.

Preview: 'Love & Savagery'
According to the latest news, we can now have a peak at both the poster and the trailer of the film Love & Savagery, which will be released in Canada on November 6, 2009. In case you were wondering, both the poster and the trailer were found on the web site of Morag Productions, the movie studio that is mainly in charge of the production of this film. By the way, the following is a detailed description of the film.

Synopsis:

Adapted from a novel by Des Walsh, Love & Savagery follows Michael McCarthy (Allan Hawco), a geologist and a poet from Newfoundland. In 1968, he travels to Ballyvaughan, in Ireland, to examine the “Burren” a geological wonder. Besides, he falls in love with Cathleen (Sarah Greene), a young woman who plans to be a nun. However, what will Cathleen choose? Michael or God? Or can she love both?
