Robert Schwartzman Embarking on Wayne Newton Documentary
Image
Robert Schwartzman, who found critical success with his recent documentary about the British Invasion band The Zombies, has begun work on another music doc, this one about Las Vegas legend Wayne Newton.

The director revealed that the “Danke Schoen” singer would be his next subject Thursday night during a Q&a session that followed a screening of Hung Up on a Dream: The Zombies Documentary (2023) at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles.

Newton, 83, was just a teenager when he began performing in Las Vegas with his older brother, Jerry, and the colorful live performer has logged tens of thousands of performances in the city — and he’s still going strong.

Born in Virginia and raised in Arizona, Newton was generously given “Danke Schoen” to record in the early 1960s by “Mack the Knife” singer Bobby Darin, and the song peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100.

He also had another...

Ghosts may not return for Season 5 until October, but the stars of CBS‘s hit comedy were spilling all of the need-to-know details about the upcoming chapter during their visit to the TV Insider and TV Guide Magazine San Diego Comic-Con studio. Utkarsh Ambudkar, who plays living chef and B&b proprietor Jay, joined costars Danielle Pinnock, Asher Grodman, and Devan Chandler Long, who portray Woodstone-bound spirits, jazz singer Alberta, Wall Street bro Trevor, and Viking Thorfinn, were all on site to spill teases on the latest season. As fans will recall, CBS renewed the series for Seasons 5 and 6 back in February 2025, promising viewers plenty of excitement in the years to come. As they sat down for an interview, the stars got candid about Jay’s future after his unintentional deal with demon Elias Woodstone (Matt Walsh), who they’d love to see in future roles, and much more. Conspiracist Maga Influencers Are Posting a Lot Less About Human Trafficking These Days
Image
For years, adherents of the pro-Trump QAnon movement and Maga influencers in its orbit spread unhinged conspiracy theories about human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of children by powerful liberal elites. Many believed that Trump was engaged in a secret war with this cabal of predators and would eventually bring them to justice. But with Trump back in the White House, those known for sowing fears of a trafficking epidemic have significantly scaled back any mention of it.

A new joint social media study from Montclair State University’s Center...

In one of our favorite Sdcc traditions, the cast of Ghoststook to the stage in Ballroom 20 to preview their highly anticipated return in Season 5. Alongside series showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, Asher Grodman, Danielle Pinnock, Devan Chandler Long, and Utkarsh Ambudkar joined panel host and frequent Ghosts guest star Punam Patel for a delightful and surprising conversation filled with some delicious teases of what’s to come when the show returns to CBS on October 16.

These Right-Wingers Won’t Shut Up About Epstein, No Matter What Trump Says
Image
Donald Trump is sick of fielding questions about Jeffrey Epstein. But his efforts to quash lingering interest in the case of the late sex offender by downplaying it as some kind of “hoax” perpetrated by political enemies including Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have failed to satisfy Maga diehards who want the White House to release bombshell materials implicating powerful elites in Epstein’s crimes, or evidence that he was killed in his jail cell in 2019 to protect those same people.

It’s a crisis of the administration’s own making.

‘Novocaine’ Blu-ray Review
Image
Stars: Jack Quaid, Amber Midthunder, Ray Nicholson, Matt Walsh, Jacob Batalon | Written by Lars Jacobson | Directed by Dan Berk, Robert Olsen

Novocaine, the latest film from directing duo Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, is a deliriously over-the-top genre mashup – equal parts action-comedy, rom-com, and slapstick gorefest. Anchored by a charismatic Jack Quaid, this is a film that laughs in the face of pain… literally! Playing Nate Caine, a mild-mannered bank manager with Congenital Insensitivity to Pain, Quaid turns physical indestructibility into both a superpower and a running gag, navigating a barrage of cartoonish violence with deadpan charm and endearing awkwardness.

What begins as a quirky character study quickly shifts gears into chaos when a trio of bank-robbing Santas crash the holiday spirit and kidnap Sherry (Amber Midthunder), Nate’s love interest. What follows is a gleefully grotesque odyssey of improvised weapons, kitchen carnage, and increasingly creative injuries. Quaid shines, balancing slapstick and sincerity,...

Jack Quaid Beats Tom Cruise’s $571M Film That Never Recovered From Its ‘Disappointment’ Label

The Boys’ Jack Quaid’s Novacaine surged to the top of the box office this week, unseating Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One on the Top 10 chart in the United States on Paramount+ on June 23, 2025.

Despite being a $571 million gross, the film was widely labeled a box-office disappointment. Cruise’s Mission: Impossible franchise has grown into a cult classic, aided by the charm and appeal of its lead star. However, Quaid’s action-comedy, made for just $18 million, outshone Cruise’s film in streaming rankings.

Image
Ghosts may not return until the fall time, but we’re already dying to know what will happen to Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) when Season 5 does arrive. As viewers will recall, Jay’s life was put in danger after he learned that the publicist he’d signed a contract with was actually a demon. Having never seen Elias Woodstone (Matt Walsh) before, Jay wouldn’t have recognized the danger of entering such a deal. But when the demon showed his face at the launch event for Sam (Rose McIver) and Isaac’s (Brandon Scott Jones) book, Jay finally learned he’d actually signed his soul over to hell. An unfortunate reality of that deal is that Elias made it clear he’ll do all he can to reap Jay’s soul sooner rather than later. This threat was revealed when Elias made a chandelier in Woodstone’s new restaurant collapse, nearly crushing Jay.

"It's Very Possible": 'Ghosts' Showrunners Tease the Future of Hetty and Trevor's Relationship After Season 4 [Exclusive]
Image
Editor's note: This article contains spoilers for the Ghosts Season 4 finale.

GhostsSeason 4 has come to a close. After 22 episodes of laughs and undead shenanigans, we've been left on the edge of our seats awaiting the return of Season 5 this fall. While the main cliffhanger revolves around the fate of Jay's (Utkarsh Ambudkar) soul after he signed a contract with Elias (Matt Walsh), who has upgraded his afterlife status to Demon, we're still curious about what's in store for the rest of our favorite characters. As far as relationships go, Season 4 took our ghosts all over the map — literally! Pete (Richie Moriarty) continued his romance with Donna (Allegra Edwards) only to later break up with her in the finale, now that his long-time crush, Alberta (Danielle Pinnock), is interested in being with him.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Ghosts Season 4 Episode 22, “The Devil Went Down to Woodstone.”] Ghosts served up another massive cliffhanger in its latest finale as Season 4 closed out with Elias Woodstone’s (Matt Walsh) return in the aptly titled episode, “The Devil Went Down to Woodstone.” But it wasn’t all doom and gloom as it also made way for a potential relationship between Alberta (Danielle Pinnock) and Pete (Richie Moriarty). ‘Ghosts’ Season Finale: How the Return of Elias as the Devil’s Emissary Adds a Dangerous New Twist
Image
Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for the season finale of “Ghosts,” which aired Thursday night on CBS.

Oh hell no. “Ghosts” just ended its fourth season with a hell of a cliffhanger: Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) has signed a new publicist to help drum up interest in his restaurant — and it appears to be working! But there’s a catch: That contract he signed wasn’t actually to hire a P.R. team. It was to sell his soul to the devil, and that’s not a publicist — that’s Elias Woodstone (Matt Walsh), who can now make physical appearances on earth as the devil’s emissary.

And here’s one more catch: The devil doesn’t want to wait for Jay’s soul. So Elias will now try to bring about Jay’s death, sooner rather than later.

This all went down at the end of the Season 4 finale,...

Ghosts Season 4 Finale Trailer Brings Back Its Most Annoying Spirit

Ghosts season 5 is confirmed, as is season 6. But before then, the upcoming finale looks to set up a few cliffhangers and address lingering threads. There's the return of the villainous Elias (Matt Walsh) and the reemergence of Patience (Mary Holland), who many spirits find annoying. Her return may not help her case all that much.

In the trailer for the Ghosts season 4 finale, Patience returns. While everyone is having fun at a party thrown for Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones), Patience is disturbed by the idea of deviled eggs, and she makes it known. This puts Sam (Rose McIver), Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar), and the rest of the party guests on edge. The season 4 finale, titled "The Devil Went Down", premieres Thursday,...

Abby Miller in Off-the-Grid Wedding Comedy 'Jess Plus None' Trailer
Image
"If you bang my brother, I will never forgive you!" Freestyle Digital Media has unveiled an official trailer for Jess Plus None, an indie comedy created by filmmaker Mandy Fabian as her feature directorial debut. This first premiered back in 2023 at both the BFI Flare & Frameline LGBTQ Film Festivals, and will be out to watch on VOD anywhere next week. A reluctant maid-of-honor attending an off-the-grid wedding in the woods must confront her perfect ex-girlfriend, her more successful college friends, and every single one of her life choices. Starring Abby Miller, Matt Walsh, Marielle Scott, & Rory O'Malley. "Jess Plus None manages its tones masterfully while giving us a flawed but relatable protagonist who's simply doing the best she can. If you're not laughing, you're cringing, and that makes it a screwball comedy [in] a contemporary lens." This looks very indie and kinda funny and a bit zany - might be entertaining enough for a quick watch.
