This 100% Rotten Tomatoes British Crime Drama Has Had Its Fate Decided
Image
Move over, Saint Marie — Jersey’s getting darker by the minute. Following a wave of critical praise and a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score, Bergerac is officially returning for Season 2 on U&Original. A reimagining of the classic 1980s BBC series, the modern Bergerac stars Damien Molony (Brassic) as Jim Bergerac, the troubled Channel Islands detective now retooled for a grittier generation.

The second season is already in production on the island of Jersey, and the cast is expanding. Adrian Edmondson (Midsomer Murders) and Lesley Sharp (Red Eye) are joining the series as Nigel and Monica, respectively. Edmondson plays a love interest for Zoë Wanamaker’s returning character Charlie, while Sharp’s role hints at new emotional entanglements for Jim. Developed by Being Human creator Toby Whithouse, the show was hailed in its debut run as a moodier, more psychologically rich take on the beloved sleuth. The updated synopsis for Season...

Emma Watson and Fellow ‘Harry Potter’ Actress Banned from Driving
Image
Emma Watson has been banned from driving in the U.K. for six months after getting caught speeding. A judge at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court made the decision during a short hearing on a Wednesday, where Watson was also fined £1,044. Watson didn’t attend the hearing.

The speeding incident happened nearly a year earlier, on July 31, 2024, when Watson was driving 38 mph in a 30 mph zone in Oxford, England. Because she already had nine points on her driver’s license, the punishment was tougher.

Watson is not the only “Harry Potter” star facing a driving ban. Zoe Wanamaker, who played Madame Hooch in the first “Harry Potter” movie, was also fined and banned on the same day at the same court. Wanamaker was caught speeding on August 7, 2024, driving 46 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Like Watson, she already had nine points on her license, so she received the same fine and six-month driving ban.

Emma Watson and Another ‘Harry Potter’ Star Banned from Driving
Image
Emma Watson has been banned from driving in the U.K. for six months after she was caught speeding. The “Harry Potter” star was ordered by a judge at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court to stay off the road and pay a fine of £1,044. This happened on a Wednesday hearing that lasted only five minutes, and Watson did not attend.

The speeding happened almost a year earlier, on July 31, 2024, when Watson was caught driving 38 mph in a 30 mph zone in Oxford, England. Before this, Watson already had nine points on her driver’s license, which made the punishment stricter.

But Watson isn’t the only “Harry Potter” actor dealing with a driving ban. Zoe Wanamaker, who played Madame Hooch in the first “Harry Potter” movie, was also fined and banned from driving on the same day and at the same courthouse.

Wanamaker was caught speeding at 46 mph in a 40 mph zone on August 7, 2024. Like Watson,...

Two Harry Potter Stars Banned from Driving on Same Day
Image
Harry Potter stars Emma Watson and Zoe Wanamaker have each been banned from driving for six months following separate speeding incidents, reports the BBC.

Watson was caught driving 38 mph in a 30 mph zone in Oxford during July 2024. For the traffic offense, the Hermione Granger actress was fined £1,044 by High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 16th.

Before the incident, Watson had already racked up nine points on her license. In the UK, a driver can be banned for six months after tallying 12 or more penalty points within three years. They must also apply for a new license before returning to the road.

Wanamaker, who played broomstick flying instructor Madame Hooch, also had nine points on her license before being caught driving 46 mph in a 40 mph zone during August 2024. She received an identical fine from the High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

In other Harry Potter news, a TV adaptation is currently in production at HBO,...

‘Tales of the Unexpected’ – 10 Twisted Episodes to Watch from the Classic Anthology Series
Image
When it comes to TV anthologies, one of the longer show runs belongs to none other than Tales of the Unexpected, a British series that lasted from 1979 to 1988, and amassed over 100 episodes. And while first conceived as a vehicle for author Roald Dahl’s body of work, eventually other writers and original stories entered the picture. No matter who was behind the wheel, though, this anthology always provided a twist in the tail.

As the title implies, Tales of the Unexpected aspired to surprise its audience. Each episode ended with a glaring turn of events, but not every one of them was shocking. These ten episodes, on the other hand, are a cut above the rest in how twisted they turned out.

Ahead of the London TV Screenings, distributor Banijay Rights has sold the series to Npo in Netherlands, Vrt in Belgium, Svt in Sweden, Yle in Finland, Nrk in Norway, Dr in Denmark, BBC First in Poland and Tvnz in New Zealand. The ABC in Australia had already boarded the British show.

The Jersey-set series was made for UK channel U&Drama by Banijay’s BlackLight TV and Westward Studios, with Damien Molony playing the titular crime fighter, Jim Bergerac. Visit Jersey supported the production.

5 Canceled Fantasy TV Shows That Ended On A Cliffhanger
Image
Fantasy show cancelations are always disappointing for dedicated fans, but it's especially frustrating when series are cut short on the heels of cliffhangers. Unfortunately, this is a common occurrence for streaming shows, especially within the fantasy genre. Numerous fantasy shows have been canceled before completing their original plans, and in some cases, this means major incidents remain unresolved. This can be seen with several of Netflix's recent projects, though it's not the only platform to have this problem.

Fantasy shows tend to have intricate plots, which makes it difficult to end a season on a conclusive note, unless it's the final outing. If there's more story to tell, projects attempt to build momentum ahead of another season. This makes things worse when they're unexpectedly canceled, as there are huge questions and storylines that never get addressed properly.

Female villains often get more attention than male ones, simply because society doesnt always expect women to be evil. But not only were these women evil, some of them absolutely relished being evil. They were scarier than any Dalek or Cyberman.

Doctor Who has been a sci-fi staple for the past 60 years. Originally starting in the '60s, it made its revival in 2005, ready to attract viewers old and new. One perk of The Doctor's regenerative abilities is it helped keep the show going with a new actor being able to slip into the Time Lord's shoes whenever it was time for the previous actor to leave.

Peter Capaldi on Britain’s Real-Life Institutional Disorder Behind Apple’s ‘Criminal Record’
Image
When Peter Capaldi flickers into view on the Zoom call, I half expect him to tell me to “F** Off!”

For TV viewers of a certain age, the 65-year-old Scottish actor will forever be Malcolm Tucker, the supremely sweary spin doctor in Armando Iannucci’s pre-Veep Brit political satire The Thick of It.

“It’s The Thick of It and Doctor Who,” says a charming (and clean-mouthed) Capaldi, about the roles he’s most recognized for (he played the twelfth incarnation of the Doctor in the cult sci-fi series from 2013 to 2017). “Surprisingly, The Thick of It is still incredibly popular [the series wrapped in 2012]. People, generally very cool, smart young people, recognize me from that a lot. They generally just ask me to swear at them.”

Of course, there’s a lot more to Capaldi than Tucker and the Doctor. His scores of film and TV appearances include playing alongside Burt Lancaster in Bill Forsyth’s 1983 classic Local Hero,...

10 Modern Doctor Who Episodes Everyone Has Already Forgotten About
Image
Doctor Who has had many amazing episodes over the years, but some have been forgotten due to the sheer number of stories told. "The Long Game," "New Earth," and "42" are standout episodes that are often overlooked, but they offer great standalone adventures and important moments for the characters. While these episodes may not be the best overall, they contribute to the larger narrative of Doctor Who and provide memorable moments for the Doctor and his companions.

Since Doctor Who's revival in 2005, there have been plenty of amazing episodes, but more than a few have been forgotten. With Doctor Who season 14 due to air in Spring 2024, there are sure to be many great new adventures in the Tardis. Since its reboot, Doctor Who has introduced five new Doctors to the Whoniverse, with Ncuti Gatwa playing the next incarnation.

With 13 seasons under its belt since 2005, it's not surprising that some Doctor Who...

Why Netflix Canceled Shadow And Bone After Season 2
Image
Shadow and Bone season 3 is not happening on Netflix. The show was canceled due to a re-evaluation of content strategy and the impact of strikes on the film industry. The cancelation was also influenced by the viewing numbers not justifying the production costs. The show's popularity was not enough to save it. The cancelation of Shadow and Bone raises concerns about the future of other Netflix adaptations. Shows may not be safe on the platform, and viewers may be less inclined to invest time in them.

Shadow and Bone fans finally have an answer regarding the fate of the show following the release of season 2. Eight months after the second season's premiere, Netflix announced that the show had ended. Unfortunately, the streaming service canceled the fantasy television series (along with four other original shows) on November 15, 2023, and reports surprisingly revealed a few of the exact reasons why Netflix decided not...

Ben Barnes, Archie Renaux, and Jessie Mei Li in Shadow and Bone (2021)
Netflix cancelling five original shows, including fantasy series Shadow And Bone
Ben Barnes, Archie Renaux, and Jessie Mei Li in Shadow and Bone (2021)
Shadow And Bone, Glamorous and Agent Elvis are among the five shows Netflix is cancelling, it’s been announced.

Netflix has announced that it’s cancelling a handful of its original TV shows in the wake of the recent Hollywood strikes. The shows affected are, in no particular order, Glamorous, Agent Elvis, Farzar, Captain Fall and Shadow And Bone.

Of these, Shadow And Bone is perhaps the most high-profile; a fantasy series based on the books by Leigh Bardugo, it was headed up by Oscar-winning screenwriter Eric Heisserer (he wrote the script for Arrival). Featuring a sprawling ensemble cast which included Jessie Mei, Kit Young and Zoe Wanamaker, Shadow And Bone ran for two seasons and was generally well received, with Netflix – which is usually secretive about viewing figures – saying that the first season had been watched by 55m households worldwide.

All those households evidently weren’t enough to save Shadow And Bone,...
