Dave came to scriptwriting late in life after a long and well-regarded career in music. His band, Dave Warner's From The Suburbs, started playing in Perth pubs in the mid-70s and attracted a nationwide cult following with his special brand of pub rock (Bob Dylan once declared Warner to be his favourite Australian songwriter). Apart from many scripts he has also written a number of crime novels, several drawing on his experiences in the music scene, and sporting books, including one on villians and thugs in Australian Rules football. He also found time in the mid-90s to call Sydney Swans games on radio. He lives on Sydney's northern beaches with his wife and two daughters.
