Writer/director Angus MacLachlan’s latest Southern family drama has debuted its trailer ahead of the film’s August 29 release in theaters.

Following it’s 2023 Sundance premiere, the sneak peek of A Little Prayer teases David Strathairn’s performance as patriarch Bill, whose daugther Patti (Anna Camp) returns home amid her failing marriage, while he brings his son David (Will Pullen) into the family business.

Leanne Morgan is bringing laughs to Netflix once again.

The comedian stars in the new trailer for “Leanne,” a comedy series about a woman navigating the fallout of a 33-year marriage. Morgan co-created the series alongside producer/screenwriter Susan McMartin and famed sitcom producer Chuck Lorre for a July 31 release.

The trailer shows Leanne discovering that her longtime husband, played by “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” comic Ryan Stiles, has cheated on her with a presumably younger woman.

In the world of TV sitcoms, Chuck Lorre is one of the biggest names around. His record speaks for itself: Roseanne, Cybil, Dharma & Greg, Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, Mike & Molly, Mom, Young Sheldon, and more. The man is a master of crafting fun comedies for viewers to watch, most of them on CBS.

Lorre has moved a bit toward Netflix in the last few years, creating the acclaimed The Kominsky Method and the underrated Disjointed. So, the word he was crafting a new comedy for the streamer got attention.

Netflix unveils first-look images and the premiere date for a new comedy series co-created by Chuck Lorre. Best known as the co-creator of The Big Bang Theory, Lorre is an award-winning television producer and writer, responsible for creating a number of hit TV shows, including Roseanne, Two and A Half Man, and Mom.

After The Big Bang Theory wrapped in 2019, the co-creator continued to work on the spinoff series, Young Sheldon, which ran from 2017 to 2024. With the Sheldon prequel coming to an end after the death of George Sr. (Lance Barber), Lorre then helped bring another franchise prequel, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, to life. Lorre also worked with Nick Bakay to co-create the Prime Video series titled The Bookie, starring Sebastian Maniscalco, Omar J. Dorsey, and Jorge Garcia.

Per Deadline, Lorre's next sitcom, Leanne starring comedian Leanne Morgan, has been given a July 31 release date. The multicam sitcom series will follow the titular Leanne after her life is thrown into chaos when her husband of 33 years abruptly leaves her for another woman. Per the series' official logline, "Starting over when you're a grandmother and in menopause isn't exactly what she had in mind, but with the help of her family she will navigate this new chapter with grace, dignity and jello salad." From thrillers to family-friendly content and even comedies, 2025 is setting up to be a promising year for television shows for streaming giant, Netflix. Audiences will enter the hectic workplace of a hospital, follow a story of trauma, and witness a friendship between two friends who are polar opposites of each other.

We've listed 7 new shows coming to the streamer this year, and what we know of them at the current moment. Let's dive in and learn more!

1. Sirens

The first show on our list is Sirens, starring Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy, and Milly Alock. The limited series is based on the play Elemeno Pea by Molly Smith Metzler, about a possible toxic relationship between an employee and their boss.

But will a sister's intervention change everything? What follows is something no one could have planned, all occurring throughout one weekend.

2. My Melody & Kuromi My...

Reese Witherspoon revealed in a recent interview with People magazine that she burned a bridge with a fellow actor friend after she roasted her at an awards ceremony. The actor no longer speaks to Witherspoon. The “Walk the Line” Oscar winner did not reveal the actor’s name, but she did admit that the whole situation “haunts me, it literally haunts me.”

“So this friend of mine, who I didn’t really know that well, but she was a very serious, proper actress,” Witherspoon said. “She asked me to give her an award, but I had never been to this award ceremony, so I thought it was like a roast. So I got up and I roasted her.”

“But that was not the tone,” she continued. “The tone was British, elegant, classy, and I was like, ‘Remember the time we got laser hair removal?’ I’m still embarrassed about it.

There is really nothing that is not completely predictable about Amazon Prime Video’s latest big budget romantic comedy, but with Reese Witherspoon back in the genre, and Will Ferrell doing what he does best, the chemistry is there, and so are some laughs, including a real Lol moment involving Ferrell and an uncooperative alligator that is a good reason comedies should probably best be seen with a crowd. Unfortunately, despite its stars and fan-friendly genre, this one is straight to streaming. At least in a Valentine’s Day period, You’re Cordially Invited qualifies more appropriately as a far more pleasant date movie than the horror and action Valentine’s movie the studios have planned this year. It isn’t going to make you forget My Best Friend’s Wedding, Bridesmaids and Father Of The Bride anytime soon, but it’ll do, even as the ‘R’ rating here seems a little harsh.

There is a wildcard at every wedding, but in the case of “You’re Cordially Invited,” there are two. And they are played by Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon.

Now streaming on Prime, the film directed by Nicholas Stoller centers on two families who unknowingly double book their weddings at the same small inn — an inn that can really only accommodate one wedding. For Jim (Ferrell), it is his daughter’s, and for Margot (Witherspoon), it is her sister’s. Naturally, the two immediately go insane, trying to force the other to back down.

Somehow, Ferrell and Witherspoon have never led a comedy together, but they are doing it now with a very familiar cast.

If ever there were a season in need of some lighthearted escapism, this winter would surely be it. So audiences may well embrace Amazon’s wedding comedy, “You’re Cordially Invited” — streaming on Prime January 30th — as the equivalent of fast-food comfort. It’s familiar, it goes down easy, and you barely have to make an effort. But when it’s over, you’ll either instantly forget it or wonder why you’ve got such a sour taste in your mouth.

The most surprising thing about this by-the-numbers comedy, in fact, is that it comes to us from writer-director Nicholas Stoller. He updated Kermit & Co. so delightfully in “The Muppets,” tartly reconceived the revenge rom-com with “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” and scored on the small screen with both “Platonic” and the updated “Goosebumps.”

Claire van Kampen, a composer of music for plays and television dramas, as well as a director, writer and frequent collaborator of her Oscar-winning husband Mark Rylance, died Saturday morning at age 71, her family has announced.

Formally know as Lady Rylance, van Kampen died in the ancient town of Kassel, Germany, surrounded by her family, said a statement issued by Mark Rylance and van Kampen’s daughter Juliet Rylance.

The statement noted that van Kampen died on Mark Rylance’s 65th birthday.

Van Kampen was an accomplished musicologist, and her compositions graced many theatrical productions in London and on Broadway. Her first credited Broadway score was for Sam Shepard’s True West in 2000, which starred Philip Seymour Hoffman, John C. Reilly, Robert LuPone and Celia Weston.

Five other shows, including Boeing-Boeing, La Bête, Richard III, Twelfth Night and Farinelli and the King all starred her husband.

Leanne is headed soon to Netflix, and five new faces have been added to the cast of the new comedy series from Leanne Morgan, Chuck Lorre, and Susan McMartin. Netflix ordered the comedy in April.

According to Variety, Ryan Stiles, Blake Clark, Graham Rogers, Hannah Pilkes, and Celia Weston will join Morgan and the previously cast Kristen Johnston in the series. The show follows Leanne (Morgan) as she starts her life over after her husband leaves her for another woman.

Leanne Morgan’s upcoming Netflix multi-cam comedy series has added five new series regulars, Variety has learned.

Ryan Stiles, Blake Clark, Graham Rogers, Hannah Pilkes, and Celia Weston have all joined the series alongside Morgan and previously announced cast member Kristen Johnston.

The series, now titled “Leanne,” was picked up to series at Netflix in April. Morgan co-created the series with Chuck Lorre and Susan McMartin. It is slated to debut in 2025.

The official logline states, “Leanne’s life takes an unexpected turn when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman.
