Matthew McConaughey’s Long-Forgotten 17% Rotten Tomatoes Rom-Com Leaves Streaming Soon
Image
Matthew McConaughey has been absent from big-screen leading roles for six years now after last starring in The Gentlemen for Guy Ritchie, but one much older project from the star just got a disappointing streaming update. Once the king of the rom-com, McConaughey starred alongside Jennifer Lopez in The Wedding Planner, the 2001 film following a world-renowned wedding planner who breaks the cardinal rule of her trade: Don’t fall in love with a groom. The Wedding Planner is currently streaming on Netflix. Unfortunately, the streamer has confirmed that the last day to watch the film will be on July 31. It earned abysmal scores of 17% from critics and 59% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, but that didn’t stop it from grossing $94 million at the box office against a $35 million budget.

Pamela Falk and Michael Ellis wrote the script for The Wedding Planner, and Adam Shankman directed the film. Shankman most recently...

Sean Connery’s 16% Rotten Tomatoes Superhero Film Is Delighting New Audiences on a Free Streamer
Image
While the comic book movie genre is all the rage now thanks to the MCU and DC, there was a time when they were more grounded, gritty and edgy. Before the big studio franchises came and gave a CGI-filled direction to the genre movies like Blade, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, X-Menmovies kept the audience on the periphery of realism and fantasy. One among them, Sean Connery-led The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, finds some love on streaming.

As per FlixPatrol, the 2003 movie is steadily climbing the Tubi charts where it's streaming for free. The movie is at #7 on the list, standing behind titles like The Fast & The Furious, Friday the 13th, Next Friday, and more. While the steampunk superhero film is loosely based on the comic book series of the same name by Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill got mixed reactions from the audience upon its debut it was a commercial hit,...

The married couple at the center of Star Trek and A Nightmare on Elm Street
Image
There’s a razor-thin line between Star Trek and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Numerous actors and other talent have crossed from one franchise into another, including a married couple, though more on them in a few moments. There’s Leslie Hoffman, who played the hall guard in the original Elm Street fright fest and worked on both Deep Space Nine and Voyager as an actor, stunt performer, and/or stunt coordinator. Mimi Craven, who portrayed Jisa in the Voyager episode “Dragon’s Teeth,” appeared as a nurse in Elm Street 1. David Andrews, who made his big-screen debut in Elm Street 1, later guest-starred as Lorian, the son of T’Pol and Trip Tucker in an episode of Enterprise.

And the list goes on and on. Makeup impresario Mark Shostrom worked on Elm Street 2 and 3, and later won an Emmy Award for the Voyager episode “Threshold,” sharing it with Michael Westmore and several fellow collaborators.

15 shows to watch if you love Agatha All Along
Image
Agatha All Along has been a fantastic series, and there are more shows to watch if you love that witchy magic!

The Marvel Television series has become a major hit for Disney Plus. This sequel to WandaVision has Kathryn Hahn reprising her scene-stealing role as witch Agatha Harkness, the secret architect of much of the chaos. After regaining her memory and powers, Agatha goes on a quest for more power with the uneasy aid of other witches and a mysterious Teen.

The show has a wonderful mix of dark humor, action, thrills, drama and some truly shocking twists. It’s one of many TV shows that use witches and magic, most aimed at a YA audience. Others do have the same appeal as Agatha with a darker take on magic yet some truly offbeat storytelling.

Narrowing it down can be hard, but these 15 shows are just for anyone who enjoyed Agatha All Along.

You Don’t Belong Here: Nikki Roumel stars in time travel supernatural thriller
Image
In the last thirteen months, we’ve seen two different time travel slashers, Totally Killer and Time Cut, get streaming service releases. Now, Deadline reports that Alliance Media Partners is representing the world sales rights for a time travel supernatural thriller called You Don’t Belong Here at the American Film Market, which is currently going on in Las Vegas. Totally Killer starred Kiernan Shipka from the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Time Cut starred Madison Bailey from the Netflix series Outer Banks and Antonia Gentry from the Netflix series Ginny & Georgia, so it seems fitting that the lead role in You Don’t Belong Here went to another Netflix star – Nikki Roumel, who co-stars with Gentry on Ginny & Georgia.

What we want to see from Bane in his new DC Universe movie
Image
Bane is coming back and it looks like he is ready to break more than just the Bat. Yes, James Gunn and Peter Safran are reportedly taking another iconic Batman villain to the big screen, and this time, Bane is getting the spotlight he deserves. We’ve seen Bane in live action projects before — first in film with a forgettable appearance in Batman & Robin and then with Tom Hardy’s unforgettable portrayal in The Dark Knight Rises. We also can't forget Shane West's imposing performance in Gotham. But now, we’re on the brink of something bigger, something bolder: a Bane-led movie in the DC Universe, which he will reportedly be co-leading with Deathstroke.

For those who need a refresher, Bane is more than just the guy who broke Batman’s back. He’s an intellectual powerhouse — a villain with the brain and brawn combo that makes him...

Every Actor Who Has Played Bane In DC Movies & TV Shows
Image
The Dcu seems to be creating a new version of the famous Batman villain Bane, adding to an already expansive list of performers to portray the Venom-indulgent bruiser. The upcoming Bane and Deathstroke team-up movie has been confirmed by the Dcu, giving credence to the rumors of solo Batman villain movies that have been circulating around the upcoming DC movie continuity. While Deathstroke has only been played once in live-action movies, Bane has a couple of prominent film appearances, not to mention a bevy of other appearances.

The original Bane of the comics is an international criminal from the fictitious Caribbean country of Santa Prisca, where he was raised from birth among detested convicts in a dangerous prison. After being exposed to the dangerous experimental "Venom" serum and gaining super strength, Bane famously heads to Gotham, where he snaps Batman's spine, becoming one of the few villains to "break" The...

DC Studios Developing Film Involving Batman Villains Bane and Deathstroke
Image
Villains really are the new superheroes.

DC Studios has tapped screenwriter Matthew Orton (“Captain America: Brave New World”) to write a feature film that will involve Batman villains Bane and Deathstroke, Variety has confirmed. The project is still in its infancy: There are no stars or director attached, and DC Studios chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran have been clear that they will not greenlight a project until they are satisfied with a complete screenplay.

The movie follows a growing trend in the superhero space of projects focusing as much on the villains as on the heroes, from the ongoing HBO series “The Penguin” and Disney+ series “Agatha All Along” to Warner Bros. upcoming sequel “Joker: Folie à Deux” and Sony’s upcoming Marvel adaptations “Venom: The Last Dance” and “Kraven the Hunter.”

Bane and Deathstroke have also appeared in previous DC adaptations. Most famously, Tom Hardy played Bane in...

DC Studios developing Bane, Deathstroke movie from Captain America 4 writer
Image
DC loves spotlighting its villains, and THR reports that another villain-centric project is in the works. The outlet has heard that DC Studios is developing a movie that will unite Bane and Deathstroke. Matthew Orton, who worked on Captain America: Brave New World, has penned the script but no director is attached to the project.

DC has always excelled at highlighting villains, with the recently released Penguin series starring Colin Farrell as an example. We’ve also got Joker: Folie à Deux coming next week. I’ll confess that I’m not a big comic-book guy, so Deathstroke and Bane seem like a random pairing, but I’m sure the more comic-literate among you will be able to set me right. Maybe they’re good buds.

‘We Live In Time’ Review: Florence Pugh & Andrew Garfield Elevate A Time-Hopping Romance [TIFF]

Youthful love (relatively speaking) beset by terminal illness and heartbreak is well-worn cinematic and literary territory. Examples include “The Fault In Our Stars” (Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort), “A Walk To Remember” (Mandy Moore and Shane West), “Sweet November” (Charlize Theron and Keanu Reeves), “P.S., I Love You” (Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler), even the classic Oscar-winning “Love Story” (Ali MacGraw and Ryan O’Neal).

L.A. Punk Novel ‘What We Do Is Secret’ Acquired for Film Adaptation by Rubber Ring Films, Director Matthew Mishory (Exclusive)
Image
Director Matthew Mishory and producer-financier Bradford L. Schlei have acquired rights to the L.A.-set punk novel “What We Do Is Secret” by Thorn Kief Hillsberry.

Mishory, director of “Mosolov’s Suitcase” and “Fioretta,” will direct the film adaptation, which will enter development immediately, and produce with Schlei through their Rubber Ring Films. Schlei’s credits include “Swingers,” “Spun” and “Some Folks Call It a Slingblade.” Author and screenwriter Tony O’Neill will adapt the book.

The film adaptation will have a different title than the book, since there was already a 2007 film named “What We Do Is Secret,” which starred Shane West as Darby Crash of the Germs.

The tragic story of acclaimed punk band the Germs, whose lead singer Crash overdosed and died in 1980, also provides inspiration for this new project, which has the working title “Under the Big Black Sun” (not to be confused with the X...

‘Last Night on Earth’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: Leven Rambin, Jake McLaughlin, Dee Wallace, Shane West, Sohvi Rodriguez | Written and Directed by Marcos Efron

Opening with a quote from Carl Sagan, “For small creatures such as we, the vastness is made bearable only through love” Last Night on Earth then shows us a brief glimpse of a couple and their young son camping. The man seems troubled, the woman so obviously upset that the boy asks his father about it. “She’s just tired” he replies unconvincingly.

Nearby, Holly and Ryan are staying in a trailer. They seem happy, although there are hints to the contrary scattered through their conversations and actions. A flashback to a party only heightens the feeling.

Writer/director Marcos Efron teases the viewer, making it clear that something is very wrong with the world we are seeing, but not giving any clues as to what that is. And if you actually did...

Image
Aaron Stanford expresses uncertainty about the chances of a Nikita revival, calling it a "reboot of a reboot of a reboot." The ending of Nikita seemed to finalize everyone's story, making it difficult to bring them back more than ten years later. While The CW has been cutting shows, Nikita managed to attract a loyal fanbase, making a revival a possibility worth considering.

After airing the series finale ten years ago, Nikita's revival chances get an uncertain response from Aaron Stanford. The show, an adaptation of La Femme Nikita, follows Maggie Q's eponymous character who, after escaping Division, plans to use her training to bring down the entire organization. Having premiered on The CW in 2010, the series earned praise from critics and audiences but concluded after four seasons. Along with Q and Stanford, the cast of Nikita includes Shane West, Lyndsy Fonseca, Melinda Clarke, Xander Berkeley, and Noah Bean.
