The California wildfires have done a lot of damage. They have destroyed homes on a level that was previously unprecedented, and displaced thousands of families. It has been a trying time for the city of Los Angeles and its inhabitants.

The fires have also impacted the entertainment industry. Award shows and concerts have been delayed or outright canceled. And networks have decided to pull shows dealing with fire from its weekly lineups out of respect. Tracy Spiridakos may not have been on Chicago Fire, but her history with the One Chicago universe make her willingness to spread the word about the fires worth noting.

Spiridakos, who played Hailey Upton on Chicago Pd, shared information about the wildfires on her Instagram.

Chicago Fire has been lauded for its authenticity when it comes to firefighting. In comparison to other shows like, say, Fire Country, the NBC staple has made a point of trying to get things as accurate and realistic as possible.

We did not expect, however, to see a former Chicago Fire cast member actually stop a fire threat in real life. Brian J. White, who previously played Dallas Patterson on the firefighting drama, was one a handful of Los Angeles citizens who took down a suspected arsonist last week.

Paramount+ is keeping Criminal Minds: Evolution on the case for another season.

The streamer has ordered a third season of the drama, a continuation of CBS’ long-running Criminal Minds that features much of the original show’s cast and is headed by longtime showrunner Erica Messer. The renewal comes a day before Evolution’s second season premiere.

As Impact Network rebrands from a faith and gospel-focused multiplatform channel to include family-friendly lifestyle entertainment designed for Black audiences, Variety can exclusively reveal its first “Impact Original” movie, “The Life of Me.”

Brian White (ABC’s “Scandal”), Brandon T. Lifetime’s spring slate of movies kicks off on March 4 with eight new movies premiering back-to-back through April 15.

The network today announced the addition of six original films to accompany, “Black Girl Missing” starring Garcelle Beauvais (also of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) and “Pride: A Seven Deadly Sins Story,” which will premiere on March 4 and April 8, respectively.

The six additional originals — “Girl in the Closet,” “The Hillsdale Adoption Scam,” “Twisted Sister,” “Every Breath She Takes,” “Giving Hope: The Ni’cola Mitchell Story” and “Drunk, Driving, and 17” — have a slew of stars joining the projects, including Tami Roman, Remy Ma, Jackée Harry, Tisha Campbell, Tamala Jones, Mena Suvari, Joy Nash and Keshia Knight Pulliam.

In the film written by Elizabeth H. Vu, a struggling actress, desperate for a lead role in a Hollywood remake, tracks down the lead of the original film, who’s now a mysterious recluse. Strange occurrences quickly turn the meeting into a nightmare. Stewart’s fellow producers on the project are Daniel Blake Smith, Teddy Van Gough and Sam Logan.

Stewart played Izzy on Netflix’s hit series Atypical, more recently starring opposite Sandra Oh in the Sam Raimi-produced supernatural horror film Umma, as well as in the Freeform film Close Up with A Quiet Place’s Millicent Simmonds. BET has set a new four-part original limited series, Carl Weber’s The Black Hamptons, from The New York Times best-selling author of the same name and the executive producers of the popular BET+ original drama, The Family Business.

The show is a new family drama set in the quaint town of Sag Harbor, known as “The Black Hamptons,” in Long Island, NY. Public broadcaster Kcet once again led all local TV stations in nominations for the Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards, announced on Tuesday by the Television Academy. Kcet landed 23 nods this year overall, up from 20 last year. It was followed by Telemundo’s Kvea, which boasted 21 noms.

After that, with 19 nominations, was relative newcomer Spectrum News 1, the cable channel that launched in 2018 and has made waves for its enterprise reports, features and coverage of Southern California. Then came Univision’s Kmex, with 16.

Among the traditional English-language commercial broadcasters, Kabc-tv led with 12 nominations. That’s quite a change from the days when management at the ABC-owned station declined to submit Kabc in the local Emmy race.

As usual, all stations that enter are immediately nominated in the daily morning newscast (4 a.m. to 11 a.m.), daily daytime newscast (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.), and daily evening newscast (7 p.m. to 12 a.

Kcet topped Spanish-language outlet Kvea to lead the nominations for the 73rd Los Angeles Area Emmys, which the Television Academy announced this morning. The pubcaster scooped 23 noms to the Telemundo station’s 21, with Spectrum News 1 running third with 19.

Exclusive: Umc, the AMC Networks streaming service with a focus on Black film and TV, has renewed four of its original series including the top-rated Craig Ross Jr.’s Monogamy and A House Divided, which will both return for their third seasons.

These nominations were originally scheduled to be announced on April 27, and the trophies were set to be handed out during two Creative Arts ceremonies on June 12 and June 13 and then the main ceremony on June 14, but those plans had to be revised after the coronavirus pandemic caused public events to be cancelled or postponed across the globe. Long before what is now referred to as the streaming wars began, Robert L. Johnson, founder of Black Entertainment Television (Bet) and Chairman of Rlj Entertainment, announced Umc — Urban Movie Channel, Rlj’s proprietary streaming network. Officially launched in February 2015 featuring “urban-themed” series and movies, the service, which is now known only as Umc, is part of a suite of channels and streamers owned by AMC Networks, after the media company acquired Rlj in late 2018.

The 11th Annual Indie Series Awards nominations in 28 categories were revealed on Wednesday via Twitter. The ISAs celebrate the best in independently produced entertainment created for the Web.

Indoor Boys led all series with 15 total nominations. The show is joined in the Best Comedy Series category by Before We Go, FabUless, F#Cking 40, La règle de (3), The Ninth, Poor Us and Three Year Letterman.

Poz Roz and Studio City earned 12 nominations apiece to lead the dramas. They are joined in the Best Drama Series field by After Forever, The Bay, Bronx Siu, People Like Us, A Place Called Hollywood and Save Me.

In all, there are 33 nominated series from around the globe. Crystal trophies will be presented to the winners during a gala ceremony on April 1 at The Colony Theatre in Burbank, California. The two-day celebration includes a launch party, red carpet reception, press walk, presentation ceremony and official after party.

Updated with Own statement: Ambitions will not return for a second season on Own. Robin Givens, who stars as Stephanie Carlisle Lancaster on the series, revealed the news on Instagram.

“Found out last week #Ambitions wouldn’t be returning for a second season ….,” Givens wrote in a post preceded by a sad emoji.

Own confirmed the cancellation.

“We’re thankful to Will Packer, Jamey Giddens and the entire cast and crew of Ambitions for their creativity and hard work on the show. Every week they delivered great drama, intrigue and a lot of fun storytelling,” said Tina Perry, Own president. “We look forward to continue working with Will Packer and his talented team of collaborators in the future.”

We are only one day from the premiere the most anticipated new series of the summer, the Jamey Giddens-penned Ambitions. Brely Evans stars as Rondell Lancaster, the sister of Atlanta Mayor Evan Lancaster (Brian J. White) and manager of the Thelma's Place restaurant. As the new face of an anti-gentrification campaign, she never thought would become a crusader for the people, but it's a badge she wears with pride – and nobody is removing it.

We Love Soaps: What was your first reaction when you read the script for Ambitions?

Brely Evans: When I read the audition sides I thought to myself, “I know her,” because she’s me. She’s outspoken and not afraid to have an opinion. She really doesn’t give a f*** if someone has something opposing to say.

Our final look at the faces who are going to set Own on fire with the new soap, Ambitions, features Essence Atkins who plays Amara Hughes, and Kendrick Cross, who plays her husband, Titus.

Amara and Titus are both attorneys in the thick of it with competing couple Stephanie Carlisle (Robin Givens) and her husband, Evan Lancaster (Brian White). As a rising Us Attorney, Amara vows to fight the corruption of the Mayor's office, while Titus is embroiled in scandal as a result of working at the Carlisle's prestigious law firm.

While they were all in college together, Stephanie lost her on-again/off-again love, Titus, to Amara, and the events leave them still reeling decades later. Find out all about Amara and Titus' life together and more directly from Essence and Kendrick.
