Warped Tour Pulled Off the Impossible and Took Fans Back in Time
Image
There is nothing quite like the music people discover when they’re in high school. It’s these songs that soundtrack first loves and heartbreaks, and all the moments that feel like they’re the end of the world. It’s these songs that act as a salve in teen bedrooms and hit even harder live, sung with a sea of people.

This weekend, the Vans Warped Tour in Washington, D.C. transported about 40,000 festival attendees right back to those high school summer days filled with sticky pavements, sweaty mosh pits and,...

Sum 41 Deliver Final Live Performance at Juno Awards, Get Inducted Into Canadian Music Hall of Fame: Watch
Image
Sum 41 gave their final performance at the 2025 Juno Awards, where they were also inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

In typical awards-show fashion, the pop-punk vets performed a medley during the ceremony on Sunday (March 30th), running through portions of their hits “Landmines,” “Fat Lip,” “Still Waiting,” and “In Too Deep.” With the band having wrapped up its final farewell tour dates in January, the medley will stand as Sum 41’s last-ever performance (unless they reunite in the future).

Also at the ceremony, the band of nearly 30 years was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, with Deryck Whibley and company being welcomed to the stage by fellow pop-punkers Joel and Benji Madden of Good Charlotte.

“It’s surprising for us to be standing up here right now because Sum 41, we made a lot of fucking mistakes,” Whibley told the audience in the acceptance speech, in...

Sum 41 Cover Rage Against the Machine’s “Sleep Now in the Fire” as One of Their Final Recordings
Image
Sum 41 wrapped up a farewell tour in January and released their final album, Heaven :x: Hell, last year, but the Canadian punk band still has a couple treats left for fans, including a new cover of Rage Against the Machine’s “Sleep Now in the Fire.”

The song, which is presumably one of Sum 41’s final recordings, has been released as a Spotify single, paired with an acoustic version of the original track “Landmines” from the aforementioned Heaven :x: Hell album.

“Recording these Spotify Singles has been an incredible way to celebrate with our fans around the world,” stated the band. “We’re so grateful for their support and excited to share this special session with everyone. Huge thanks to Spotify for making this experience possible.”

While the studio version may be new, Sum 41 have performed the Ratm classic in concert, including a memorable version at France’s Hellfest...

Sum 41 Wrap Up Farewell Tour with Final Show: Video + Setlist
Image
Sum 41 played the final show of their farewell tour on Thursday (January 30th) at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, performing a 29-song set.

The concert was the second show of a two-night stand in Toronto, bringing the band’s near-30-year career to an end. The Canadian punk act had announced back in May 2023 that it would break up following a final tour and album.

Sum 41 kicked things off with “Motivation” from All Killer No Filler, with frontman Deryck Whibley telling the crowd early on, “Ladies and gentlemen, let’s get … crazy! We’ve got a whole range of emotions to go through together.”

The band’s main set included partial clovers of Slayer’s “Raining Blood” and Metallica’s “Master of Puppets,” and concluded with the one-two punch of hits “Fat Lip” and “Still Waiting.”

Whibley and company came out for two encores, the first concluding with “In Too Deep...

Why Sum 41 Is Breaking Up In 2025
Image
The 28-year reign of pop-punk icons Sum 41 is finally coming to an end after Derek Whibley announced their disbandment back in May 2023. Unlike the fallout of other long-running bands, there is no hellfire surrounding the end of the Ontario punk outfit that stole the hearts of metal heads and pop lovers alike, begging the question: Why is Sum 41 breaking up?

Formed in 1996, Sum 41 have been a mainstream mainstay since their international debut full-length All Killer No Filler was released in 2001. Their first LP would be their second label release with England's crown-jewel, Island Records. It featured the single "Fat Lip," which reached number 66 on the Billboard Hot 100 list and set the stage for Sum 41's unrivaled career.

Evolving from a high school band in Ajax, On to one of pop-punk's shining gems was no small feat. With eight studio albums, a diverse collection of music videos, video albums, singles,...

Avril Lavigne: 2024 Net Worth, Age, Height & Everything You Need To Know About The Musician
Image
Avril Lavigne was one of the biggest popstars of the 2000s, and her continued success in the industry, film and TV roles, and brand deals have all combined to give the Canadian punk rocker an eye-popping net worth. Pop and punk don't always go hand-in-hand with punk being counter-culture, and pop being mainstream, but when the combination works, some great bangers get produced. Take Avril Lavigne, the Canadian jean-wearing, hair-dyeing, boyfriend-cussing musician who owned the airwaves in the early 2000s with songs like "Complicated", "Girlfriend", and "What The Hell".

Over the course of her career, Lavigne has been nominated for 8 Grammys, set the Guinness World Record for the youngest female solo artist to top the UK chart, has had multiple Billboard top 100 hits, and is internationally famous on a level that may surprise casual fans who think the singer peaked with "Sk8er Boi" (via Sennheiser). She's been married and divorced twice,...

Image
It’s been an “extremely heavy week” for Deryck Whibley after he alleged that Sum 41’s former manager Greig Nori sexually abused and groomed him. On Tuesday, the Sum 41 frontman shared a video slamming Nori’s response that claimed that Whibley, a 16-year-old when he met Nori who was in his mid-thirties at the time, “initiated” their relationship.

“I take no pleasure in coming out with the truth about what happened between me and my ex-manager, but it was something that I just couldn’t keep in anymore, and...

Lzzy Hale Covers “Crawling” Amid Linkin Park Speculation
Image
Halestorm singer Lzzy Hale has posted a stunning cover of Linkin Park’s “Crawling” a week before the latter band makes a highly anticipated announcement. The performance has some fans wondering if Hale will be involved in a potential Linkin Park reunion.

The impending Linkin Park news has taken a few twists and turns over the past few days. Originally, fans thought the announcement would be made on Wednesday (August 28th) when a mysterious countdown clock hit zero. Instead, the clock started ticking back up, with Linkin Park eventually telling fans to tune back in on September 5th.

Meanwhile, Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley threw fans for a loop when he teased his own Wednesday announcement, only to later insist he was “not joining” Linkin Park.

Now, Hale’s performance of “Crawling” has fans speculating whether she’s somehow involved, especially following reports earlier this year...

Linkin Park Plan September 5th Announcement After Countdown Clock Ghosted Fans
Image
Fans from all over the world gathered around their computers and mobile devices on Wednesday (August 28th) in anticipation of a major Linkin Park announcement at 2:15 p.m. Et. However, when a mysterious countdown clock hit zero, there was no news from the long dormant band.

Now, Linkin Park have revealed that the announcement will come on September 5th via a social media post that reads: “Be part of something. September 5th. LinkinPark.com.”

On Wednesday, when the band’s countdown clock hit 00:00:00, instead of an announcement, the clock started ticking back up. Some sleuths noticed a glitch at 00:09:05, suggesting that the news would come on September 5th instead.

Amid the speculation is that the band will re-form with a new singer to play shows in 2025. Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley was rumored to be that singer after he teased his own Wednesday announcement, but he shot down those reports,...

Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley Insists He’s “Not Joining” Linkin Park
Image
With Linkin Park setting a countdown clock that ends on Wednesday (August 28th) and Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley teasing his own Wednesday announcement, fans naturally put the two together and assumed that Whibley would be joining Linkin Park’s lineup on some sort of reunion tour. However, that is not the case, according to the Sum 41 frontman himself.

Speculation has run rampant since Linkin Park launched the countdown clock a couple days ago, with fans assuming that the band will reunite to play festivals and headlining concerts next year. The band hasn’t toured since singer Chester Bennington tragically took his own life in July 2017, only playing a tribute concert later that year (which happened to include Whibley as one of the guest singers).

What Happened to Paris Hilton?
Image
Though our younger viewers may know her better for her friendship with Kim Kardashian, the spotlight shone brightly on Paris Hilton, especially in the early 2000s. But was she just “famous for being famous”, or is there more to this Paparazzi Princess?

Like her friend Kim, Paris Hilton’s fame was bolstered by the infamy that comes from being the star of a wildly popular

sex tape, 2004’s cleverly-titled 1 Night in Paris. “That’s Hot.” As with Kim Kardashian, questions remain even decades later about whether the video was released intentionally to capitalize on her growing fame. For her part, Paris has since denied consenting to the video’s release and has settled out-of-court for the damage to her image and reputation. Perhaps the grossest thing about the video (bear with me) is that it opens with a title card that says “In memory of 9/11/01… We will never forget.” Seriously.

Sum 41 Announce Final Album, Unveil New Song “Rise Up”: Stream
Image
Sum 41 have officially announced their final album, Heaven :x: Hell. The double LP is set to drop on March 29th, and the video for the new single “Rise Up” can be streamed now.

The raucous track sees the pop-punk vets in prime form, as frontman Deryck Whibley dishes out nasally vocal hooks to the song’s pogo-ready rhythm. While Sum 41 have declared the upcoming double album their last, “Rise Up” doesn’t sound like a band running out of steam. Instead, they’re going out on top.

News of the album follows Sum 41’s retirement announcement earlier this year. For Whibley, the 20-track Heaven :x: Hell — which pairs a pop-punk “Heaven” disc with the more heavy metal “Hell” flip-side — felt like a proper conclusion.

“Once I heard the music, I was confident enough to say, ‘This is the record I’d like to go out on,’” Whibley said via a press release.

Sum 41 Unleash “Landmines,” First New Song in Four Years: Stream
Image
Sum 41 have unveiled the new single “Landmines,” the Canadian punk band’s first new song in four years. The tune comes as the band plans to disband following the release of a final album and a yet-to-be-announced farewell tour.

“When I wrote ‘Landmines’ I had no intention of writing an old school ‘pop punk’ song,” said frontman Deryck Whibley of the new track. “It just came out really quickly and I knew right away that this song felt special to me.”

While no formal album announcement has been made, it can be assumed that “Landmines” will appear on Sum 41’s final LP. Whibley has previously mentioned that the effort will be a double album titled Heaven :x: Hell, split between pop-punk and metal.

The band confirmed the album title when they announced their impending breakup earlier this year, stating, “Sum 41 will be disbanding. We will still be finishing all...

Sum 41 Lead Singer Deryck Whibley Hospitalized Thursday With Pneumonia, Now Recovering At Home
Image
Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley was hospitalized Thursday night with pneumonia, according to an Instagram post from his wife, Ariana Cooper Whibley. She wrote that doctors had concerns beyond just the pneumonia.

“The scariest part is that there is a lot of strain on his heart and they are telling us that there is a possibility of heart failure.”

Whibley was hospitalized in 2014 after his liver and kidneys collapsed due to alcohol abuse. Doctors later told the singer one more drink could kill him. His wife referenced that difficult period in her post.

“This is obviously not our first time in a situation like this but it brings back a lot of really difficult memories seeing him back in a hospital bed connected to wires and IVs.

“I know how strong he is because I have witnessed what he has been able to overcome but that doesn’t make it any easier to see.

The Offspring Joined by Members of Sum 41 and Simple Plan for Rousing Version of “Why Don’t You Get a Job?”: Watch
Image
The Offspring‘s recently wrapped “Let the Bad Times Roll” tour featured support from Sum 41 and Simple Plan — one of the strongest pop-punk tour packages in recent memory.

The trek ended earlier this month, but during the second to last show on September 2nd at the Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York, members of all three bands shared the stage for a surging run through of The Offspring’s ska-tinged number “Why Don’t You Get a Job?”

The epic moment occurred toward the end of the main portion of The Offspring’s headlining set. For the first time on the tour, the band was joined onstage by tourmates Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 and Pierre Bouvier of Simple Plan.

The two form a veritable punk-rock triumvirate with The Offspring frontman Dexter Holland, as their voices stack in joyous harmony during the song’s chorus refrain. The pro-shot footage...

One Of Two-Face's Best Jokes In Harley Quinn Season 3 Almost Got Cut
Image
One of the benefits of HBO Max's "Harley Quinn" being a comedy is that it can explore familiar characters in unexpected, even biting ways. Bruce Wayne may spend his nights as the heroic Batman, but he's also just as out of touch as any other billionaire ("People pay for housing?"). The Joker is a maniacal super-villain, but after a stint with amnesia, he's also developed a domestic life as a suburban dad ("Lots of dads are serial killers!"). Commissioner Gordon is a nervous wreck and totally dependent on Batman, Nightwing has an inferiority complex thanks to Bruce's distant parenting, and being in the Legion of Doom is like a 9-to-5 job for villains, complete with coffee chats in the break room.

However, these details aren't just random; what makes them funny is how they're authentically rooted in the characters' personalities. In an interview with /Film's Ben Pearson, "Harley Quinn" co-creators...

Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley: ‘I was so out of it – drinking wasn’t even a thought’
Image
Look around and you’ll see, the Noughties are back. The eyebrow piercings. The cargo shorts. The frosted tips. Is that the familiar scent of ammonia from Manic Panic hair dye in the air? There are few musical genres as emblematic of that time as pop-punk, and fewer bands embody its insouciance as effectively as Sum 41. “It was always about having fun for us,” says frontman Deryck Whibley. “Everything was done for the fun of it.”

Twenty-one years later and little has changed – on stage, at least. Tonight, as the band close their world tour with a sold-out show at Alexandra Palace, having fun is all that’s on anyone’s mind. Everyone in the crowd is at least a decade out of their teens – the piercing holes have closed over and the band tees fit a little snug now – but adolescent angst is forever. “Don’t tell us to...

Who the F-ck Is Mod Sun, Avril Lavigne’s New Fiancé?
Image
Avril Lavigne has been enjoying something of a revival recently thanks to the general pop-punk resurgence happening in music right now. She appeared on Willow’s latest album Lately I Feel Everything and reigning pop princess Olivia Rodrigo paid her respects with a cover of “Complicated” on her Sour tour.

Lavigne herself is now signed to Travis Barker’s label and released a very spunky, acclaimed new album called Love Sux. Unlike her album’s title, love certainly doesn’t suck for Lavigne: She recently announced her engagement to Mod Sun...

Sum 41 to Return to Their Pop-Punk Roots on Upcoming Double Album ‘Heaven and Hell’
Image
Deryck Whibley made Sum 41’s upcoming album, Heaven and Hell, almost by accident.

It was the height of the pandemic and Whibley wasn’t really feeling inspired. And, for the first time, he was “just trying to relax,” he tells Rolling Stone. Mostly, he was focused on his other gig outside of his band: being a first-time dad.

With a firm lockdown in place, the only way for Whibley and his wife Ari to get out of the house was to put their newborn in a car seat and drive around L.

Avril Lavigne Reunites With Her "Sk8er Boi" Chad Kroeger
Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger have sparked reconciliation rumours.

The couple announced their separation in September 2015 after two years of marriage.

However, they certainly looked cosy as they arrived at Clive Davis and The Recording Academy's 2016 Pre-Grammy Gala on Sunday night (14Feb16) arm in arm. Avril also furthered the speculation by posting several pictures of herself and Chad on her Instagram page.

"Grammy Party ..... Feeling great. Lovely night," she captioned one snap.

Neither Avril nor Chad wore their wedding rings though, so it could be that they are just very friendly exes as they have also been working on music together since their split.

Sk8er Boi singer Avril took to Instagram to reveal her split from Nickelback rocker Chad back in September.

"It is with a heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today... Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments,...

Watch 5 Seconds of Summer Strip Down 'Hey Everybody' on 'Conan'
Joel Madden
Australian pop-punk upstarts and Rolling Stone cover stars 5 Seconds of Summer graced the Conan stage Monday and performed an acoustic version of their Sounds Good Feels Good single, "Hey Everybody."

Despite the stripped-down instrumentals, 5 Seconds of Summer delivered the infectious cut with the requisite attitude and angst, cruising through the chorus with an impressive wave of four-part harmonies. Not even the confines of their stools could keep guitarists Luke Hemmings and Michael Clifford from trying a few rock kicks as they brought the song to a close.

The band released Sounds Good Feels Good,...
