Full Moon is giving Blood Dolls a black & white noir release, plus a Blu-ray release
Image
Last year, Charles Band’s company Full Moon announced that they were launching a new production label called Pulp Noir, which would focus on “edgier, weirder, darker horror and dark fantasy films.” Two Pulp Noir movies, Quadrant and Death Streamer, have since made their way through production – and while those movies were initially released in color, all of the Pulp Noir movies will also get black & white “noir” releases, so there are both color and black & white versions of Quadrant and Death Streamer available on the Full Moon Features streaming service. While we wait for more Pulp Noir movies to be made, Band has started going through the Full Moon library to give some of their older films the black & white / noir treatment. This noir series, which is expected to consist of at least a dozen films, got started with a black & white version of the 1984 sci-fi thriller Christmas classic Trancers.

Real-Life Couples Who Met on The Vampire Diaries
Image
CWs The Vampire Diaries had a successful run with seven seasons. Despite the series ending in 2017, fans still cant get over the many plot twists, attractive cast members, and vampire lore of the fantasy series. The show birthed two spin-off shows, The Originals and Legacies, which also had success among young and mature audiences. While CW was known for pushing steamy scenes in their shows, much of the chemistry was real, and many cast members ended up dating outside the series.

One of the most famous couples that met on set and dated was Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder, who played enemies to lovers in The Vampire Diaries. So, when they called it quits, it shook their fan base to the core, and despite years passing and both moving on to other relationships, some fans still cant get over their love story. However, these arent the only two cast members...

The Real Reason Toni Actress Jill Marie Jones Left Girlfriends
Image
Toni actress Jill Marie Jones left Girlfriends due to her contract ending and wanting to pursue movie opportunities. Toni's departure was written off by sending her to New York City to be close to her son. Jill Marie Jones regrets not announcing her departure sooner, but her co-stars respected her decision.

It's a bit of a surprise when Toni (Jill Marie Jones) suddenly leaves Girlfriends, considering how important a character she was to the hit sitcom, but Jones has her reasons. Girlfriends ran for 8 seasons before it ended in February 2008. In that time, the series followed the lives of four friends, Joan (Tracee Ellis Ross), Maya (Golden Brooks), Lynn (Persia White), and Toni (Jones).

Toni is Joan's oldest friend, with the two growing up together, and she considers herself the popular and "cute" one of the group. Though this can sometimes be read as shallow, she's a loving and loyal friend.

Early '00s TV Shows That Still Hold Up
Image
The early 2000s are a nostalgic time for television, whether audiences are watching shows like Friends or Gilmore Girls or sitting down for movies like Moulin Rouge! (2001) or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004). The shows that appeared on cable and primetime changed the future of television.

Even with all the good television, there were certainly some problematic moments on television in the '90s and 2000s. While no show is perfect, that are some that continue to hold up, even among higher scrutiny.

Freaks and Geeks (1999–2000)

Freaks and Geeks kicked off a decade of both incredible and, in some cases, unfortunately, short-lived television. Set in a suburb of Detroit in the early '80s, Freaks and Geeks is centered around the high school experiences of the Weir siblings, Lindsay (Linda Cardellini) and Sam (John Francis Daley). Lindsay is part of the "freaks," a group of rebellious slackers that includes...

Why Girlfriends Was Canceled After 8 Seasons
Image
Girlfriends was a groundbreaking sitcom featuring a diverse, all-Black cast that touched on difficult topics other shows avoided, proving the demand for diverse programming. The show's cancellation was due to low ratings and high licensing costs in an unusual business environment, not a reflection of its quality or importance in TV history. The cast had a heartwarming reunion on Black-ish, showcasing their incredible chemistry and the lasting impact of Girlfriends on both its audience and the actors themselves.

After nearly a decade of breaking new ground on the air, the beloved sitcom Girlfriends was canceled suddenly in 2008. Debuting in 2000, the series follows a group of Black women who bond over the trials and tribulations of daily life as they navigate the worlds of work and romance. Girlfriends was the first show of its kind in TV history to feature an all-Black cast led by women. The show's tremendous success proved...

During the conversation, the Girlfriends cast and creator marveled at how the show’s Netflix pickup in July has caused a renaissance of discourse about the series’ group of friends and their relationships. Tracee Ellis Ross (‘Black-ish’) on reuniting with ‘Girlfriends’ cast in Season 6 [Exclusive Video Interview]

Tracee Ellis Ross scored her fourth Emmy nomination this year for her performance as Dr. Rainbow Johnson in ABC’s “Black-ish.” The nomination comes after a significant few years for the actress, including a prequel series about young Rainbow called “Mixed-ish” and the film “The High Note,” her first starring role in a movie in over a decade. But Ross remains proud of the work she is doing on “Black-ish,” which is now entering its seventh season.”We don’t lean into the traditional sitcom wife/mother, the idea that you’re upholding an idea of perfection, that you are doing only one thing and being one version of what it is to be a woman,” says Ross in an exclusive new interview with Gold Derby. Kevin Smith on Facing Backlash for Going Vegan: ‘I Took Away My Meat to Save My Life’
Kat Graham
“When you see what is happening to these animals, you feel kind of powerless sometimes, like no one really cares, so it’s really exciting that we are going to bring a lot of awareness and make the world a healthier, happier place,” Kat Graham told Variety at the Mercy for Animals 20th Anniversary Gala on Saturday at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Mercy for Animals is an international non-profit animal advocacy organization that promotes veganism and conducts undercover investigations to expose animal cruelty at factory farms and slaughterhouses. “Proven Innocent” centered around a legal team who worked at a wrongful conviction firm. The team, which was led by Madeline Scott (Rachelle Lefevre), a fierce and fearless female lawyer with a hunger for justice, reopened investigations, putting their own lives in danger to exonerate the innocent that were ‘proven’ guilty.

The series also starred Kelsey Grammar as Gore Bellows, the prosecutor who previously put Madeline away for murder, as well as Vincent Kartheiser, Russell Hornsby, Riley Smith, Clare O’Connor, Francis Guinan, Persia White, Shanesia Davis, Karin Anglin, Caitlin Mehner,...

The Vampire Diaries Review: “A View To A Kill” (Season 4, Episode 12)
“You can file that request under “no chance in hell.”’

Yes. Finally. An episode of The Vampire Diaries that didn’t play it safe this season. Momentum was to be had, alliances thwarted, and the return of an unexpected run away mom was made. The writers took chances, the characters made decisions, and things worked out – for the most part.

A form of magic that takes its power from somewhere besides the spirits and doesn’t answer to nature. Basically calling dark magic by another name. Eventually it may become her undoing – because if we’ve learned anything, it’s that all magic has consequences - but her resurrection of power is continuing to come in handy for her friends in Mystic Falls. Her new powers may not help her to...
