David Wickes is one of the UK's foremost producer/directors of international television drama. He has also made several successful theatrical feature films.

His credits include the Turner Pictures blockbuster Frankenstein (1992) starring Patrick Bergin, Randy Quaid, and the late Sir John Mills, which broke records for TNT and received 3 ACE nominations and 1 ACE Award.

Wickes is best known for his top-rated American Network TV films, such as the CBS miniseries Jack the Ripper (1988) starring Sir Michael Caine and Jane Seymour (2 Golden Globe nominations, 1 Golden Globe award), and ABC's acclaimed Jekyll and Hyde (1990) which also starred Caine.

Wickes' series of 12 Raymond Chandler classics Philip Marlowe, Private Eye (1983) made for HBO and starring Powers Boothe, won huge audiences worldwide and a clutch of ACE awards.

His theatrical films include Silver Dream Racer (1980) with David Essex for Rank and the TV spinoff Sweeney! (1977) for EMI which broke box office records in several countries.

Before founding his own production company in 1983, Wickes produced and directed dozens of episodic dramas for ITV and the BBC, including The Professionals (1977), The Sweeney (1975), Target (1977), Special Branch (1969), Softly Softly (1966), Van der Valk (1972), and Public Eye (1965).

Recently, The Wickes Company produced 13 one hour episodes of CI5: The New Professionals (1998) starring Edward Woodward. The series was sold to over 41 countries worldwide.
