Disney Just Announced Two Unexpected MCU Projects You Should Watch Before Ironheart — Here’s Why
Image
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up for the launch of Ironheart, a new Disney+ series debuting on June 24, 2025.

The show centers on Riri Williams, a brilliant MIT student who designs her own high-tech armor, echoing the legacy of Tony Stark. After years of development with limited updates, anticipation is high for this series, which will wrap up Phase Five of the MCU.

To prepare fans, Disney+ has shared a character spotlight and a list of must-watch MCU projects to understand Ironheart’s context.

These include the Iron Man trilogy, Black Panther, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, What If…?, and both Doctor Strange films. Each project ties into Riri’s story in unique ways.

'She Kind of Breaks Bad:' Marvel Exec Compares Ironheart to Televisions' Greatest Antiheroes
Image
Antiheroes like Bucky Barnes and Deadpool have always been popular with fans. The upcoming Disney+ series Ironheartwill introduce fans to another morally gray character.

Speaking to SFX Magazine, executive producer Sev Ohanian compared series protagonist Riri Williams to some of television's most popular antiheroes. "Riri is brilliant yet flawed and finds herself going down a path that I'm not sure we've quite seen in the MCU," the exec said via GamesRadar+. "She kind of breaks bad in the show, and we go to some uncomfortable places for audiences that I think will be really fun to explore, almost in the vein of Walter White from Breaking Bad or Tony Soprano."

Walter White and Tony Soprano are perfect examples of antiheroes who kept audiences hooked as they navigated morally complex territory. Walter started out as an ordinary chemistry teacher, only to lose himself in the criminal underworld as his choices became darker and more dangerous.

Riri Williams Has A Packed Schedule In Marvel Studios' New Ironheart Teaser
Image
The highly anticipated Disney+ series Ironheart is set to delve deeper into the story of Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), the brilliant inventor first introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Her standalone adventure begins with a three-episode premiere on June 24, 2025.

Set after the events in Wakanda Forever, Ironheart follows Riri Williams as she returns home to Chicago, leaving behind the constraints of MIT to pursue her own vision of cutting-edge armor, inspired by Iron Man but uniquely her own.

Frustrated by institutional limits and eager to prove herself, Riri dives into a personal mission to perfect her technology, only to find herself caught in a surprising clash between science and the supernatural.

Her main adversary is Parker Robbins, aka The Hood (played by Anthony Ramos), a mysterious figure who wields dark magical powers granted by an enchanted cloak.

Drawing from his comic book origins, the series is expected to explore the...

Ryan Coogler Calls Ironheart a 'Crazy Combination' of These 3 MCU Projects
Image
Ironheart will be the best of multiple corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to Ryan Coogler. The Black Panther director, who is an executive producer on Ironheart, recently compared the upcoming Disney+ series to three well-received and beloved MCU projects.

In an interview with Marvel.com, Coogler unpacked how Ironheart would blend the realism of the McU's street-level shows with the franchise's mystical side. "Riri [Williams] is definitely in conversation with a street-level show like Daredevil. You’ve got characters trying — both heroes and villains — to make do with what they have," Coogler explained. "Then you combine that with cosmic Marvel, characters who would be at home in Doctor Strange or WandaVision. That [mix] of street-level Marvel and magical Marvel is a pretty crazy combination."

Surprisingly, Coogler does not compare Ironheart to Black Panther or Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the latter of which is where Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams made her MCU debut.

Ironheart Star Hopes for On-Screen Battle With Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom
Image
Dominque Thorne is ready to cross paths with Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. The Ironheart actor recently shared that she wants Riri Williams to fight Downey's new villainous alter ego in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking with Rotten Tomatoes, alongside her Ironheart co-stars, Thorne was asked if she wanted to see Riri Williams/Ironheart go up against Downey's Doctor Doom. "I mean, who wouldn't, right? I think that's again one of the great things about the MCU is that right when you think, 'Oh, we've seen it all', there is indeed more. And not only is there more, but it's more with so much depth to it," she shared. "And so I know everybody, like, we're all already beside ourselves thinking about what that even looks like. And so, of course, I mean, I think we probably all do."

Anthony Ramos Teases His Exciting Role in ‘Ironheart’: “He is the coolest villain in Marvel history”
Image
In December 2020, Marvel Studios announced the development of the Disney+ series ‘Ironheart.’ Now, three years after her initial appearance, the wait is nearly over for Riri, as her show is set to release in 2025.

‘Ironheart’ will follow Riri Williams as she returns home to Chicago, where she uncovers “dangerous threads that bring danger and adventure.” This aligns with earlier rumors suggesting that the show will blend classic “overcoming adversity” themes with elements of demons, chaotic magic, and a 17-year-old vendetta coming to light.

Anthony Ramos was confirmed to play Parker Robbins, aka The Hood, in the upcoming ‘Ironheart’ series. Robbins begins as a petty criminal in New York City who discovers a mystical hooded cloak and boots during a robbery. These items, originally belonging to a demon, grant him powers of levitation and invisibility. With these newfound abilities, Robbins adopts the alias “The Hood” and rises through the criminal underworld.

Marvel Studios Confirms Sacha Baron Cohen's Involvement in Ironheart
Image
A new copyright filing for Ironheart confirmed that Sacha Baron Cohen is part of the cast for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe series.

Cohen, who is best known for his creation and portrayal of the fictional satirical characters Ali G and Borat Sagdiyev, is credited as "Mystery Man" in a recent Ironheart copyright filing on the U.S. Copyright Office Public Records System. Baron Cohen has been rumored to appear in Ironheart since October 2022, although Marvel has yet to officially confirm his involvement in the Disney+ miniseries until now. The actor is expected to portray the villainous Mephisto in Ironheart, with Marvel seemingly using "Mystery Man" as a placeholder to hide the face Baron Cohen is playing a major villain from the comics.

Like Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery had been plugging away for years before getting his big break on "American Idol." Both of the teenage season 10 "Idol" finalists had charmed friends, neighbors and local townspeople with their precocious talent since they were old enough to hold a microphone.

The favorite to win it all, McCreery hails from the small town of Garner, North Carolina (population 27,000), and when he wasn't singing in his school's vocal ensemble or amassing a 10-1 pitching record for the Garner Magnet High School team during his starts on Jv and as a junior, McCreery was busy winning local singing competitions like last summer's "Clayton Idol."

Wqdr DJ Janie Carothers first heard of Scotty after he'd won "Clayton Idol," and the hometown morning show personality...

For the top three on "American Idol," winning is everything. Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart have their eyes on the prize. But over the weekend, taking the top spot next week was probably second best to just going home and seeing their adoring hometown fans in the flesh for the first time.

According to a Billboard report, 17-year-old McCreery's reception in Garner, North Carolina, was thunderous, as the leading contender to take the competition was greeted by more than 30,000 fans. The city splashed out more than $60,000 on Scotty's big day, with police blocking off the singer's neighborhood after excited admirers crushed around the McCreery homestead to get a look at the house where Scotty grew up.

McCreery dropped in at his old employer, Lowes Foods, bagged...
