Robert Eggers is one of the few directors left in Hollywood making a name for themselves under the old auteur model, where people become interested in their movies because they made them, not because they're tied to some already-established IP. Between The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman and now Nosferatu, Eggers has forged his own path and actually succeeded. It's pretty much him and Christopher Nolan holding that particular fort.
And Eggers will continue to blaze new trails with a new movie called Werwulf. He's already covered witches and vampires, so this seems like the next natural step. But Deadline reports that he's signed on to make a sequel to Labyrinth, the 1986 dark fantasy movie starring Jennifer Connelly, David Bowie, and a bunch of Jim Henson puppets.

No part of the anime fandom is more universally disliked than live-action adaptations. Most live-action anime have ruined their source materials thanks to poor visuals and terrible mishandlings of the original stories, and in the case of projects like Cowboy Bebop and Dragonball Evolution, they’re regarded as not just terrible adaptations, but some of the worst movies and TV shows ever made, in general.
Live-action anime adaptations more than deserve their poor reputation, but that has improved in recent years. Between the visual spectacle of Battle Angel Alita and how effortlessly Netflix’s live-action One Piece handled its source material, some live-action anime adaptations have at least something that makes them worth watching, and because of that, there’s still plenty of reason for people to hope that live-action adaptations of their favorite anime will do their source material justice. That would really only apply to a select few anime,...

The glory days of peak TV, of blank cheque commissioning, open-ended series orders and blockbuster budgets, are well and truly behind us. But even with buyers tightening their purse strings, there’s still a hunger, and with the every-expanding global streaming market, a continually-growing demand for top-notch drama.
Ahead of MIPCOM Cannes — the number one global television market which runs October 21-24 — the supply side of the scripted business is also looking strong. From big-budget period pieces to quirky indie gems, from glossy period pieces to gritty urban drama, the offerings this year are broad and deep.
Budget constraints mean there will be fewer moon-shot deals at this year’s MIPCOM — proceedurals, thrillers and star-driven projects will have an edge over riskier, niche-focused fare — but for producers who know how to crunch the numbers, there is business to be done.

For decades now, Shnen Jump has more or less become synonymous with good anime. Some of the most popular manga in the world are published by Shnen Jump and its affiliates, and that tends to result in their anime adaptations being of higher quality than others and, of course, receiving far more attention than any other anime airing at the same time.
Shnen Jump -based anime old and new are always at the center of discussions from fans and critics alike, but theyre not the only ones to ever come up in conversation. Plenty of manga outside the Shnen Jump label have taken off worldwide, and because of their popularity, many anime adaptations of shnen manga outside Shnen Jump have been incredibly great watches thanks to their stories and overall incredible direction, even more so than some Shnen Jump anime. Set against the gathering storm clouds of the 1930s, masked by the decadence, frivolity, and lavishness of British high society, Outrageous will bring the full, uncensored story of the Mitford sisters to the screen for the first time – a story of family bonds and betrayals, public scandal, political extremism, love, heartache, and even imprisonment.

With TriStar Pictures steadily moving forward with their plans for Labyrinth 2, many fans have taken to social media to campaign for Tilda Swinton as the new Goblin King. When Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson signed on to direct Labyrinth 2 this week, fan discussions ensued online with many wondering who might replace the late David Bowie in his iconic role as Jareth. Before long, Swinton's name was brought into the conversation, and now the fan interest behind the idea has been quickly picking up steam online.
"So I just learned that a sequel to Labyrinth is being put into production. Putting aside the fact that this makes me feel despair, we can all agree that Tilda Swinton should play Jareth, right?" one big fan of the original tweeted, echoing the thoughts of many others. "Tilda Swinton as Jareth, or I'm out," another fan bluntly states. Although the recent update...

Comedian Joel McHale juggles a lot of different hats. He hosts "The Soup" on E! Network, stars on the TV hit "Community," acts in movies and is also the father of 2 young boys. "I have multiple jobs and multiple families and multiple wives and they’re all spread throughout Us and Canada, so I need energy to see those people. I need the mental sharpness and the physical energy to be able to support all those people," jokes Joel to Healthy Hollywood.

It’s been almost 10 years since the first episode of Veronica Mars aired in the fall of 2004, and in that decade, a lot of the pretty young faces who traveled the halls of Neptune High have made names for themselves.
A few of those now-famous guests include Lone Ranger star Armie Hammer (season 3′s “Wichita Linebacker”) and Glee cheerleader Dianna Agron (season 3′s “President Evil” and “Weevils Wobble but They Don’t Go Down”), and there are plenty more. During the Entertainment Weekly cover shoot for the Veronica Mars movie, we put the cast to the test to see if...

Joel McHale has been happily married to Sarah Williams since 1996, but that hasn't stopped the Community actor from amassing a legion of gay fans. In fact, the father of two says he finds it "flattering" when people assume he's homosexual. "I always find it really weird when guys flip out over someone thinking they might be gay. If a guy gets offended by that, there's something's wrong with him," McHale tells The Advocate. "I take it as a compliment." McHale -- who jokes that he has crushes [...]...

Looking back, it’s difficult to believe that the cult classic “Labyrinth” was actually a failure at the box office. The movie was conceived after the release of “The Dark Crystal”, an earlier collaboration between Jim Henson and artist Brian Froud. Wanting to work on another project together, and taking inspiration once again from Froud’s artwork, “Labyrinth” was born. Influenced by such timeless tales as “Alice in Wonderland” and “Outside Over There”, “Labyrinth” tells the story of Sarah Williams (Jennifer Connolly), a teenage girl who won’t let go of her childhood. Forced to stay home and take care of her baby step-brother, Toby (Toby Froud), Sarah unwittingly wishes Toby be taken away by goblins. When Jareth, the Goblin King (David Bowie), obliges Sarah, she tries to take back her wish. But some things cannot be unsaid, and Sarah is forced to solve the labyrinth before Toby is changed into a goblin forever.

Ooh! Media has gone for the safer options in choosing the winners of its Mr Big competition, which invited media agency folk to submit pictures of themselves “doing something big” while holding an Ooh! banner.

Grimoires share shelf-space with Gone With The Wind in Southern Gods, the debut novel by horror author John Hornor Jacobs. Accordingly, the book traffics in both human melodrama and inhuman horror. Half of it concerns Sarah Williams, a determined single mother in 1950s Arkansas who’s drawn to solve the secrets—familial and supernatural—hidden in her uncle’s library. The other half is a hardboiled detective yarn about Bull Ingram, a tough-as-nails World War II vet hired to track down a missing radio-promotion man. Too much of the book oozes by before its two protagonists intersect, and when they ...
