Will Y&r recast Olivia? It’s the perfect Time For Nate’s Mom To Return
Image
The Young and the Restless (Y&r) spoilers tease another blast from the past could be headed to Genoa City. Dr. Nate Hastings, Jr. (Sean Dominic) could use the support of his mom, Dr. Olivia Hastings (Tonya Lee Wiliams).

Tonya Lee Williams previously played the role of Olivia. But Williams has said in multiple interviews that she had no desire to return to the soapy role. If Y&r wants Olivia back on the canvas, they must find a new actress to step into the role.

Olivia’s Exit Storyline

Nate’s father, Nathan Hastings (Randy Brooks) had an affair with Keesha Monroe (Jennifer Gatti). Olivia found out about the affair and confronted her husband.

It ended up being a two-edged sword—Olivia finds out not only did Nathan have an affair with Keesha, but her husband contracted AIDS from her.

Olivia banned Nathan from seeing their son and divorced him immediately.

Weekly Young and the Restless Spoilers July 7-11: An Exes and Frenemy Alliance Forms
Image
The Young and the Restless spoilers for July 7-11 continue to focus on two different places — Nice, France, and Genoa City, Wisconsin. On the home front, someone asks a very important question. Abroad, characters make bold moves.

Next Week on The Young and the Restless

A Monday teaser suggests that Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) pursues Cane (Billy Flynn). This teaser means pursue in a purely professional capacity, right? Because Phyllis has been busy eavesdropping on Amanda (Mishael Morgan) and Cane’s conversations. And when she’s not eavesdropping on them, she’s interrupting those otherwise classified conversations. For her, knowledge is power, and it’s also a way to get a job working with the businessman formerly known as Aristotle Dumas.

At some point during next week, look for Nick (Josh Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case) to team up to help Phyllis, presumably to snag that lofty goal of hers. How...

It’s Time Nate Returns to His True Passion on Y&r
Image
Like many of The Young and the Restless characters, Nate is part of the corporate world. However, he hasn’t forgotten his first passion, medicine. Recent developments in Nate’s life, might have him switching careers again.

Paging Dr. Hastings

When Nate (Sean Dominic) returned to Genoa City in 2018, he was a world-renowned doctor. Like his mom, Olivia (Tonya Lee Williams), Nate became the go-to person for treating Genoa City residents.

However, Nate gave up his medical career after a fight with Devon (Bryton James) left him with a hand injury.

After his injury, Nate did what many Y&r characters do and joined the business world. He quickly became a player in the corporate world first with Newman, and then joining Winters, his family’s company.

Watch This: Check out Soap Hub’s new podcast, Soap Hub Says, here!

Yet, recently, Nate’s been getting the itch to get back into medicine.

Tonya Lee Williams Opens Up About Olivia’s Future — and Fans May Be Surprised
Image
Tonya Lee Williams is famous for her role as Olivia on The Young and the Restless. The actress played the Genoa City doctor from 1990 to 2012. It’s been 13 years since her departure and fans are wondering if Williams will ever return as Olivia.

A New Olivia?

For over two decades, Williams entertained Y&r viewers as Olivia. The character was a fan favorite and prominent member of the beloved Winters family. In 2012, the actress left the soap, but the door was open for her character’s return.

With Olivia’s son Nate (Sean Dominic) now in Genoa City, fans feel it’s time for the doctor to return. But if the character ever comes back, Williams won’t be in the role.

The actress has previously stated she has no desire to return to Y&R. In an interview with The TV Watercooler, the actress reiterated her reasons for not coming back.

Tonya Williams Open To ‘The Young And The Restless’ Recasting Olivia Winters Character, Doesn’t Rule Out Eventually Reprising The Role
Image
A recent inductee to Canada’s Walk of Fame, the country’s highest mark of excellence, former “The Young and the Restless” star Tonya Williams revealed in an interview with The TV Watercooler that she thinks the daytime drama series should recast the Olivia Winters character she played off-and-on for more than 20 years, having joined the series in June 1990 and last appearing in February 2012.

Asked about comments she made last year in which she declared she had no plans of ever returning to the soap opera, Williams said, “Well, I figured after ten years of me not going, that it wasn’t going to be too hard of a blow, but it was!” She added, “I love the show, but I don’t even know how to get into the headspace of that character that I’ve not played in so long. It’s just the way I work. It...

Y&r Spoilers: Nate Open To Family Connection But Damian Rejects It
Sean Dominic
The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) wants to help Amy Lewis (Valarie Pettiford) connect with her son before she dies. But Damian King (Jermaine Rivers) is only concerned with himself.

Rivers’ revealed character is quixotic. His suspicious nature included having Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) impersonate him from Los Angeles, California, to Genoa City, Wisconsin.

But Nate’s call of Holden’s bluff helped lure Damian to a meeting with Amy. Viewers will soon learn why he cut himself off from his mother. Damian will learn about his mother’s seemingly terminal diagnosis and that he has a brother.

Nate Hastings Half-Sibling Is Damian King

Amy is Damian’s mother. But Nate’s mother is the rarely seen Olivia Winters (Tonya Lee Williams). She was last married to Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore) in 1999. Viewers know Malcolm is Lily Winters’ (Christel Khalil) biological father.

Weekly Young and the Restless Spoilers February 3-7: Audra Faces Past, Nate’s Shocked, Jack Defends Himself
Image
The Young and the Restless spoilers for February 3-7 focus on life after Genoa City’s supervillain era. Ian and Jordan are gone (for now). Who knows when Ian will recover from his gunshot wound and cause mayhem for the Newmans again? Meanwhile, Jordan’s dead, or so she’s led us to believe. We’ll see if that holds true.

Next Week on The Young and the Restless

Unfortunately for Jack (Peter Bergman), Victor’s (Eric Braeden) temper doesn’t go away just because he’s recovering from a gunshot wound. When Victor stands his ground with Jack, he undoubtedly attempts to keep his rival away from Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), as seen in the show’s teaser for next week. On Monday, Victor doesn’t really give Jack a chance to show concern for Nikki. Instead, he rather hold on to his grudge against Jack, which stemmed from...

3 Young and the Restless Characters Who Should Return in 2025
Image
The Young and the Restless characters come and go in Genoa City. When someone leaves the Wisconsin town, it doesn’t mean they’re gone forever. Y&r surprised fans this year with unexpected character returns. As 2025 nears, here are a few familiar faces we’d love to see.

Genoa City’s Newest Detective

The Genoa City police department needs more help, with Paul (Doug Davidson) retired and Chance’s (Conner Floyd) questionable detective skills. Who better to clean up the crime than Ronan Malloy (Jeff Branson)?

Ronan is Nina’s (Tricia Cast) and Chance’s half-brother. He was a central character on Y&r from 2010 to 2012. While the detective did a great job protecting Genoa City, his personal life was messy because of failed romances with Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford).

Ronan’s return would give Genoa City another detective and cause conflict with Chance. As for Ronan’s love life,...

Young And The Restless Spoilers: Are Amy Lewis & Her Son Damien Out To Scam Nate Hastings?
Image
Young and the Restless (Y&r) spoilers note that during a recent episode, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) filled Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) in on his visit with Amy Lewis (Valarie Pettiford), and how he has an unknown half-brother, Damien.

As the old saying goes, “You can’t play a player,” and as a schemer herself, Audra warned Nate that Amy could be scamming him. Could this be true?

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Has Time Changed Amy Lewis?

Y&r spoilers remind fans that while Amy was a decent human being during her time in Genoa City in the 1980s; however, things may have changed drastically since then.

Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers note that Amy Lewis, now played by Valarie Pettiford, popped up on the Tuesday, October 29 episode, paying a visit to Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic).

She dropped a massive bombshell on him during this show, so it’s time to take a deeper dive into this Genoa City character and her history in the little town.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Amy Lewis’ History In Gc

Who is Amy Lewis on The Young and the Restless?
Sean Dominic
Amy Lewis returned to Genoa City to drop a bombshell on Nate (Sean Dominic) on The Young and the Restless.

The character has Y&R fans wondering who she is, and for good reason, since Amy (Valarie Pettiford) has been off the canvas for decades.

Nate has been involved in a mystery surrounding a woman from his father, Nathan Hastings’ (Nathan Purdee) past, for weeks.

Now we know that Amy found Nate because she is dying and needs his help.

In true soap fashion, Nate has a long-lost brother, who Amy needs to find before it’s too late.

That explains why Amy has resurfaced, but many still can’t figure out how she fits into The Young and the Restless fold.

Let’s take a look at what we know.

Who is Amy Lewis on The Young and the Restless?

Amy first appeared in Genoa City in 1983, then played by Stephanie Williams.

For the last year, General Hospital has engineered some big Port Charles returns, including Jason, Lucky, Holly, Lulu, and Lucas. Come Back Soon, You Hear?

The characters we’d love to see make a big return.

The Young and the Restless

Obviously, we want a lot from Y&r. Even though the show is bringing back Amy Lewis, there are so many characters that could return and spice up the landscape now.

Jill Abbott

With the split at Chancellor-Winters and Abbott-Chancellor being the company of the moment, Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) needs to hightail it back to Genoa City sooner rather than later. The chaos and toxicity levels are at a maximum. Billy (Jason Thompson...

Image
Tonya Lee Williams spent over 15 years playing Dr. Olivia Barber Winters on The Young and the Restless, with sporadic appearances for several years after leaving full-time. But would she ever consider reprising the role and making a return to Genoa City? Unfortunately, that’s an absolute no. The Daytime Emmy-nominated actress recently spoke with SheKnowsSoaps, where she revealed she was asked back for the soap’s 50th anniversary special. “It would have been lovely to do, but I could not imagine doing the role,” Williams said. “It takes a lot for me as an actor. You don’t just turn up and start reading a script. I don’t know how to explain it… I trained as an actor. I go through a lot of process into who that character is. And that character was someone from 20 years ago.” She continued, “I said to them, ‘I don’t want to do it a disservice.

Shamier Anderson, Stephan James Launch The Black Academy, Celebrate Black Excellence in Canada
Image
Shamier Anderson (“Wynonna Earp”) and Stephan James want to break down barriers of discrimination and combat systemic racism in the Canadian arts.

On Dec. 3, the Scarborough, Ont. brothers announced the formation of The Black Academy, an expansion of their not-for-profit B.L.A.C.K. Canada, which they established in 2016. The new, Black-led organization will honor, celebrate and showcase established and emerging Black talent, amplifying English and French-Canadian talent and artists across the country.

“The impetus of The Black Academy stems from our long-lasting commitment, deep ties to our community, and an awareness of the lack of opportunities to celebrate and elevate Black talent in Canada,” Anderson tells Variety. “The Black Academy celebrates and inspires Black Canadians, not only in the arts, but culture, entertainment and sports. This is something that’s the first of its kind, and we’re excited to really bring it up and bring it out and build awareness around it.

The Hunt For The Next ‘Schitt’s Creek’: Canadian Scheme Identifies TV Series To Help Find Success In U.S.
Image
Exclusive: Schitt’s Creek has become the show to emulate when it comes to Canadian producers looking to find success outside of the Great White North.

Starting as a small comedy on Canadian public broadcaster, it has become a huge hit in the U.S. and around the world after launching on Pop TV and subsequently Netflix and stands a good chance at this weekend’s Emmys. It is one of a handful of Canadian shows, along with the likes of Nickelodeon’s Paw Patrol, to become as successful as any comedy south of the border.

Now, a government-backed scheme has identified six Canadian producers with projects that they hope to replicate this success.

The Canadian Creative Accelerator, which is backed by the Trade Commissioner Service of the Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles and the Government of Quebec, has highlighted six shows that will receive help and money to break out in the States.

Bridal registries take over role of bride's mum
Tonya Williams
Washington, Feb uary 27: Earlier, the main role of the mother of the bride was to create the new home for the union of two families, but now bridal registries have taken over that task.

"By turning to bridal registries, we've outsourced to the marketplace the sacred traditions of planning and outfitting a new family space," said Tonya Williams Bradford, assistant professor of marketing at the University of Notre Dame.

"For the retailer, it certainly has increased the revenue. And for the bride and groom, there is a broader net for who can participate, because all that is necessary is to communicate the registry website to potential gift-givers," Bradford stated.

In her ethnographic study with Notre Dame Marketing.

Soap News: 'Young and the Restless' Star Williams Crossing Over to 'B&B' ... and More
Tonya Williams

'Young and the Restless' star Tonya Lee Williams will be crossing over to 'The Bold & the Beautiful' in February, playing the same character.

This isn't the first crossover between the two CBS soaps. In 2010, Amber (Adrienne Frantz) ditched Genoa City to return to the Forrester crowd in her original Los Angeles. And Don Diamont's Brad died on 'Y&R' only to be transformed into Bill Spencer, Jr. on 'B&B.'

What's interesting about Williams' crossover is that she has never been on 'B&B' and will play Dr. Olivia Barber on that show as she has on 'Y&R.' The impetus is that a current 'B&B' character, Justin Barber (Aaron D. Spears), turns out to be her cousin -- a secret that headwriter Bradley Bell has been keeping from viewers since Justin first appeared.

The crossover is set for Feb. 1 and...

News: Billy Miller, Davetta Sherwood, Tonya Lee Williams
Billy Miller admits it: He used to look down his nose at soap operas

"I think my mom watched them a little bit when I was a kid, but I was never super-familiar with any of them," the Arlington Lamar High School graduate says.

"Then I went to film school and my roommate would watch Passions every day. I just remember looking at him and asking, 'Really? You're a 220-pound dude watching Passions?'"

Little did Miller know that a future in daytime television awaited him. "Now that I'm looking back on it," the 30-year-old actor says, "I think I'm a little glad my roommate was watching that show."

Davetta Sherwood on lack of diversity at Y&R

“The experiences that I had with the lack of diversity, the lack of acknowledgment of the Winters family and just our ethnic background, was really disappointing,” she said. Sherwood said people on...

Daytime Fan Favorite Tonya Lee Williams Reprises Role That Leads To An Naacp Image Award Nomination
After a three year, self-imposed absence from The Young and The Restless, Tonya Lee Williams is back in a big way. Williams has been nominated a third time for a 2009 Naacp Image Award in the category for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Series. She returned to the soap last September to reprise her role of 15 years as Dr. Olivia Winter and it is the portrayal of that character, for which she is receiving accolades.

Celebrity News Service spoke with Tonya about her decision to leave the show. "I had been there for 15 years and I was tired and burned out. I needed a rest." Williams stated further that she needed to step back to re-invent herself.

When asked why she has remained on the show for so long, she said, "I think of the writers as God. I put my trust in the writers and this is a character that I am proud of.
