At the end of September, JoBlo Media and Octane Multimedia teamed up to launch a new YouTube channel named JoBlo TV, which hosts multiple feature films to watch for free throughout the week. The genres we’ll be focusing on at JoBlo TV are Action, Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Thrillers – and the free movies we shared this week were all about the horror!

This week’s line-up consisted of Dead Voices, The Thing Inside Us, and Demons Inside Me. Here’s some information on each of them:

Directed by genre regular William Butler Dead Voices shows what happens when two sisters discover a dark secret while making a documentary about mediums for a college final. Jacob Kyle Young wrote the screenplay and stars in the film alongside Angelica Briones, Lauren Albo, Jack Buckley, Naama Silver, and Cody Anderson.

The Girl Next Door is a highly disturbing movie that portrays extreme cruelty, inspired by the real-life case of Sylvia Likens and Gertrude Baniszewski. We’re getting this week started with a new episode of the Wtf Really Happened to This Horror Movie? video series, and this time we’re looking at the awful true crime story behind the 2007 film The Girl Next Door (watch it Here). Based on a novel by Jack Ketchum, The Girl Next Door was directed by Gregory Wilson from a screenplay by Daniel Farrands and Philip Nutman. The film has the following synopsis: A teen suffers horrible abuse at the hands of her caretaker, who also encourages the neighborhood boys to torment the girl.

We don’t get our bearings as far as locale and characters go until a little ways into Alexandre Carrière’s Jade’s Asylum. While we’ve already met Jade (Morgan Kohan) and her boyfriend Toby (Kjartan Hewitt) in the midst of a fight wherein he blames his infidelity on her need for a therapist (if his infidelity can be believed along with anything that occurs on-screen), it’s two police officers engaged in an illicit affair (Mauricio Morales’ Alvares and Diana Marcela Aguilar Chavez’s Vasquez) who fill us in on their surroundings with palpable disdain. They don’t like that these rowdy Americans have come to Costa Rica to throw money around and build a party mansion for drugs and women away from prying eyes because they know only bad things can result.

We told you about this show and this movie recently, and now we have the air dates. We had a great time with their first original movie, Steve Niles‘ Remains, and are hoping for a similar bag o’ fun with their second, Brian Keene’s Ghoul. Ghoul is a horror thriller from the imagination of Brian Keene. The film follows a series of disappearances that might be linked to a mythical being. This film will premiere at Slamdance January 22nd with a follow up showing on Chiller TV at a later date. Fans of horror films will have to get over to Utah in just a few weeks or wait a little longer to bring thrills into their living room. More cast and crew details for Ghoul are below.

A couple of weeks ago we told you about "Modern Family" star Nolan Gould joining the Chiller TV adaptation of Brian Keene's Ghoul and now the famed author of the living dead has given fans a first look at the little scamp on-set.

"Here’s me and Nolan Gould on the set of Ghoul," writes Keene on his site. "I’ve said in interviews that Ghoul’s Timmy is one of my most autobiographical characters. Now Nolan is playing him, and knocking it out of the park. It’s very strange to see someone playing a fictionalized version of yourself as a kid, and I’m deeply honored and humbled by Nolan’s portrayal."

Gould is starring along with acting vet Barry Corbin (No Country for Old Men, "The Closer") in Chiller TV’s first original telefilm.

Chiller is moving along nicely on its adaptation of Brian Keene's book Ghoul . The network announced the project - along with an adaptation of Steve Niles' Remains - in March. Modern Family 's Nolan Gould will lead the cast as Timmy. He's joined by Barry Corbin ( No Country for Old Men ) who is playing his grandfather. Shooting has begun in Louisiana under the direction of Gregory M. Wilson. William M. Miller penned the script.

Brian Keene's Ghoul is one of my favorite recent books. A wonderful slice of 80s nostalgia and spooky horror show, it's the perfect source material to make a truly memorable and heartfelt horror film. And here's some casting for you.
