With 8 Episodes Already Shot, Matthew McConaughey’s Upcoming Apple TV+ Show Hits a Wall After Shocking Writer Exit
Image
Matthew McConaughey’s new Apple TV+ comedy, also starring Woody Harrelson, Brothers, has hit a major roadbump; production has come to a sudden halt. This occurred after eight episodes of the series had already been shot in Austin, Texas. The show is currently stalled due to the shocking exit of showrunner David West Read, who cited “creative differences.”

McConaughey and Harrelson are also the executive producers for the show, and this highlights the fact that even the most seemingly promising projects can fall apart mid-production. They are now in talks with Lee Eisenberg, veteran showrunner, to take up the task of shooting the two remaining episodes and any possible reshoots. Fans are understandably skeptical about the chemistry, storyline, and the momentum of the series going forward.

What is Matthew McConaughey’s ‘Brothers’ about, and why did the filming come to a screeching halt?

Image
Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson’s Apple TV+ comedy series has paused production amid creative changes at the helm of the show.

Lee Eisenberg is currently in talks to take over as showrunner for the final episodes as well as reshoots.

Eisenberg has previously worked with Apple on the anthology series “Little America” as well as the shows “Lessons in Chemistry” starring Brie Larson and “WeCrashed” starring Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway. His other credits include the hit Amazon series “Jury Duty” as well as “The Office.”

“Brothers” was originally announced in 2023 and is loosely inspired by the two stars’ actual friendship. The official logline states, “Matthew and Woody’s...

CEO Warren Goz (The Marksman) have launched Parallel 42 Entertainment, an LA-based film and TV development and production company that will focus on commercially driven projects across the action, thriller, sci-fi, and horror genres.

Zois, who spent the last six years helping build UK-based financier and production company Anton, will oversee the creative and operational aspects of the new indie. Parallel 42’s film slate will include mix of features and series—ranging from low-budget horror to large-scale commercial action—developed for studios, streamers, independent partners and cable.

The company is currently developing projects with filmmakers including Brad Anderson, the Dowdle Brothers Michaël R. Roskam, Nimród Antal, Jason Winer (Brother From Another Mother), and Rob Lorenz (In The Land of Saints & Sinners).

The firm will look to work with a range of sales partners on its projects but will also likely have a strong connection to north.five.six. given Goz’s ongoing role there.

Previously, he served as CEO of Sculptor Media, where he produced and developed various features including the 2023 Cannes entry Asphalt City.

“I am thrilled to be working with John and to build Parallel 42,” said CEO Warren Goz. “We are dedicated to making this company an exciting home for creatives to express their visions. With John’s superb taste, and creative production experience across all genres and levels of project, we are confident that we can achieve this.”

“There’s a massive opportunity right now to build a company that is nimble, creative-led, and commercially ambitious,” added Zois. “Parallel 42 will be a place where filmmakers can take big swings with real support behind them every step of the process—telling stories that connect and stay with you, whether they unfold over two hours or across an entire season.”...

DGA and WGA Members Move to Form Jewish Committees: ‘We Want a Seat at the Table’
Image
Members of the Directors Guild of America and the Writers Guild of America have moved to form Jewish committees, finding that recent events demonstrate a need for better representation within the guilds.

In the DGA, members have gathered more than 300 signatures on a petition calling on the board to create a Jewish Diversity Committee, which would address issues like antisemitism and employment equity in Hollywood.

“We want a seat at the table,” said Stuart Acher, a director who is organizing the effort. “The guild looks to these diversity committees as advisers to help protect representation and rights for people of that community. Now, Jews don’t have a voice. No one is speaking for the Jews.”

The DGA has eight diversity committees, including those for Black, Latino, Asian American, women, LGBTQ and disabled members.

In recent weeks, WGA West agreed to create a Jewish Writers Committee, which is co-chaired by Dan Signer and Patrick Moss.

Santa Clauses EP Reveals Disney+ Series Has a 'Good Shot at a Season 3'
Image
The Santa Clauses executive producer Jason Winer recently explained why he feels confident the fan-favorite Disney+ series will be back for a third season.

Speaking with Behind the Lens, Winer revealed that The Santa Clauses has been "a giant for Disney+" over its first two seasons, leading him to think, "while it's never a certainty, it feels like we got a good shot" at a third season. The executive producer added that if The Santa Clauses was renewed, the series would continue to bring back characters and cast members from the original film trilogy: "So, we literally bend over backwards to connect our series to the original movies, and create Easter eggs for the fans, and we have so many cameos though, and so many roles, frankly, that we would love to make, and hopefully we get to do a Season 3, and we can scratch all those itches for the fans.

Exclusive: Eric Stonestreet and Gabriel Iglesias On Joining The Santa Clauses
Image
The delightful director Jason Winer already admitted that The Godfather Part II inspired season two of The Santa Clauses, and boy, was he right. Thus far, the Disney+ hit comedy series has found Scott Calvin a.k.a. Santa Claus (Tim Allen) having to confront the past and some wild Santa mythology. That’s good news for fans who are enjoying the dip into the past — as in the fascinating history of Santa Claus dating back to 1400 B.C. — and several new characters this go around, from Sandman (Michael Dorn) to Cupid (Kevin Pollak).

However, one of the biggest scene-stealers in season two is Magnus Antas a.k.a. The Mad Santa, played by Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family). It appears Mad Santa is one of many Santas across what’s been dubbed the “Yule-verse.” So, expect The Santa Clauses' mythology to expand even further as the series moves forward. As for Stonestreet,...

The Santa Clauses Director Jason Winer Says The Godfather Part II Inspired Season 2
Image
A Santa-in-waiting and a Santa with a dark side are among the biggest additions in the upcoming season of The Santa Clauses, dropping November 8 on Disney+. The hit show starring Tim Allen is an engaging, comedic extension of the actor’s successful The Santa Clause films, creating a more deeply layered and textured Santa universe. The buzz is building on the season ahead after season two's trailer revealed Santa’s son Cal was enduring Santa training and a “mad” Santa is on the loose. The actor who plays that role will no doubt become a fan favorite.

In addition to Allen, season two brings back the cast that helped make the show a hit — Elizabeth Mitchell (Mrs. Santa), Elizabeth Allen-Dick (Sandra Clause), Devin Bright (Noel), Austin Kane (Cal), and Matilda Lawler (Betty). Look for Modern Family favorite Eric Stonestreet to figure prominently this season. Jack Burditt is the series’ executive producer and showrunner.

Tim Allen
Disney+ and Tim Allen are teaming up again to spread some more holiday cheer, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

That's right, folks. We are fast approaching the premiere of The Santa Clauses Season 2.

To celebrate, Disney+ has unveiled the trailer and key art for the six-part second chapter.

"The Calvin family is back at the North Pole, as Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) continues his role as Santa Claus after his retirement plans were thwarted when he failed to find a worthy successor in season one," the logline teases.

"Now that Scott and his family have successfully saved Christmas, Scott turns his focus towards training his son Cal (Austin Kane) to eventually take over the 'family business' as Santa Claus."

In addition to Allen, who will executive produce and reprise the beloved role of Santa/Scott Calvin, the new season stars Elizabeth Mitchell as Mrs. Claus/Carol.

A Mad Santa Is Coming For Tim Allen In The Santa Clauses Season 2 Trailer
Image
Even though we're not done with Halloween, Disney isn't wasting anytime digging back into the world of Santa Claus with a second season of the Disney+ original series "The Santa Clauses." Tim Allen is back as jolly old Saint Nick, and now he's focusing on turning all the happenings at the North Pole into a family business. Elizabeth Mitchell is still as supportive as ever as Mrs. Claus, Cal Calvin Claus (Austin Kane) is preparing to eventually become Santa Claus at some point with a little Santa training program, and Sandra Calvin Claus is helping out in the background by taking care of the reindeer and whatnot.

Of course, getting the North Pole in shape for Christmas isn't their biggest concern; there's trouble brewing in the form of another Santa Claus. Eric Stonestreet ("Modern Family") is playing Magnus Antas or The Mad Santa. Apparently, he thinks Scott Calvin's version...

The casting of Morgan marks a reunion, of sorts, for the comedian and Santa Clauses creator Jack Burditt; the two worked together on 30 Rock. It’s unclear, for now, how Morgan’s character will hop into the plot.

The Santa Clauses Renewed for Season 2 at Disney+
Ayo Davis
Scott Calvin's reign on The Santa Clauses may not be ending as planned.

Disney+ made a shocking announcement this week:

The Santa Clauses will return for Season 2!

“This franchise has had a lasting impact for so many families, truly becoming part of their annual holiday traditions,” Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis said in a statement.

“Bringing it back as a series has been a true gift, and I’m grateful to our producing partners at 20th Television and, of course, Tim Allen and team, that we have yet another reason to celebrate this holiday season.”

The news is somewhat surprising. Before the series was even picked up, reports stated it would be a limited series revival that would seemingly bring Tim Allen's alter ego full circle.

Now, it sounds like there will be plenty of Scott and his family on the agenda because we're getting a full-fledged second season.

Tim Allen and The Santa Clauses Team Explain How [Spoiler]'s Return Sets Up Disney+ Sequel — Grade Premiere
Image
Tim Allen‘s Kringle has lost a bit of his jingle in Disney+’s The Santa Clauses, a six-episode continuation of the beloved Santa Clause film franchise that sees Scott Calvin contemplating his third act.

It’s been 28 years since Scott first transformed into Santa, and the world now suffers from a lack of Christmas magic. This becomes apparent to Scott when he is reunited with Sara, the little girl who left the allegedly lactose intolerant Claus soy milk in the original 1994 movie. She’s all grown up now, played in Episode 1 by Happy Endings‘ Casey Wilson, and things haven...

Upon discovering there is a way to retire from his post, Scott considers stepping down as Santa Claus and finding a worthy successor so that he can become a better father and husband.

Review: Early in the first episode of The Santa Clauses, Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) meets a character from the original movie and finds her grown up. When he says it is hard to believe that it has been twenty-eight years since he became Santa, it was a moment that made me realize how long it has been since the 1994 premiere of The Santa Clause. In that time, Disney...

The Santa Clause's Bernand Plays Pivotal Role In TV Show, Says Creator
Image
Bernard will be essential to The Santa Clauses Disney+ television show, according to the series creator. The character of Bernard the Elf, played by David Krumholtz, was introduced in 1994's The Santa Clause, serving as a deadpan straight-man to Tim Allen's overwhelmed titular character and the excitable elves. Bernard was a refreshing and peculiar character who to age normally, which set him apart from the other elves, and acted as a Santa lore master to begrudgingly help the new Santa. Though Bernard returned in 2002's The Santa Clause 2, he didn't appear in The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, four years later.

Despite Bernard's crucial role in the first two films, he wasn't even mentioned in the franchise's third installment, with no explanation given for his absence. Luckily for fans of the character, his return was confirmed in new sequel show The Santa Clauses earlier this year. While speaking with TVLine,...

When reviving the Santa Clause franchise by way of Disney+, the Powers That Be knew they’d have to explain why a certain fan-favorite elf had been kept on the shelf for the last 20 years.

We’re talking, of course, about Bernard, a role originated by David Krumholtz in 1994’s The Santa Clause, opposite Tim Allen. Krumholtz reprised Bernard in the 2002 sequel The Santa Clause 2, at which point Bernard had taken under his wing a protégé named Curtis (played by Spencer Breslin).

Tim Allen Searches for a Santa Successor in ‘The Santa Clauses’ Trailer
Image
Tim Allen is busting out his white beard. The actor stars as Saint Nick himself in the first trailer for Disney+ series “The Santa Clauses.”

The show serves as a follow-up to the “Santa Clause” Christmas series, which released three films between 1994 and 2006. Allen starred in each film as Scott Calvin, a toy salesman who accidentally causes the death of Santa Claus and is roped into becoming the holiday icon’s successor. Later sequels saw Scott gain a Mrs. Claus in Carol Newman (played by Elizabeth Mitchell) and battle Jack Frost (Martin Short). Although the sequels received increasingly negative reviews as the series went on, all three movies were box-office successes and are now seasonal classics.

“The Santa Clauses” sees Allen and Mitchell reprise their roles, as well as Eric Lloyd as Scott’s son Charlie and David Krumholtz as Bernard, the head elf of the North Pole. The limited series finds Scott,...
