Warner Bros Ent. has revealed an official trailer for an action thriller crime movie called Gunner, which is the (last) name of the guy and not a reference to a "gunner", though in this case both are the same. Despite starring Morgan Freeman, this is actually a direct-to-video title heading straight to VOD in August. The latest action film from the creator of The Fast and the Furious which follows Ray Miller as he tries to save his sons, Luke and Travis, from a dangerous drug gang. Highland Film Group has released the first look image and announced territory sales on the action thriller Gunner starring Morgan Freeman and Luke Hemsworth, which recently wrapped production in Alabama.

Dimitri Logothetis directed the film from a script by The Fast And The Furious franchise creator Gary Scott Thompson.

Hemsworth plays the title role of Special Ops veteran Lee Gunner, who takes his sons on a family fishing trip and must rescue them after they stumble upon a drug running operation and get kidnapped by the son of a jailed kingpin (Freeman).

Exclusive: Mvd Entertainment Group has claimed North American rights to the darkly comedic thriller Wrong Reasons, marking the feature debut of writer-director Josh Roush. The film, executive produced by and featuring Kevin Smith, is slated for release on digital, VOD, Blu-ray and DVD on August 15.

Hailing from AntiCurrent Productions, Wrong Reasons watches as an ambiguously intentioned masked man (James Parks) kidnaps a drug addicted punk rock singer (Liv Roush) and triggers a police investigation headed by Detective Charles Dobson (Ralph Garman) as well as a media circus. Exclusive: Operation: Kickboxer — a new series based on the Kickboxer action films — is in the works from executive producers Todd Garner (Mortal Kombat) and Dimitri Logothetis (Jiu Jitsu).

Gary Scott Thompson (The Fast and the Furious) will serve as showrunner, with Gary Marenzi’s Marenzi & Associates overseeing global co-production and distribution duties. The show will be financed by Indo Pacific Rim President Gary Wood, who financed the last three films from Logothetis’ company and served as exec producer.

The independent sales and production company Highland Film Group led by Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier is launching a U.S. theatrical distribution arm called The Avenue Entertainment and has appointed JJ Caruth as The Avenue’s president of domestic marketing and distribution, Highland Film Group announced Wednesday.

The Avenue will handle theatrical distribution of six to eight titles per year, and the new venture will also partner with Paramount Home Entertainment to handle the distribution of Blu-Ray, DVD, VOD and digital titles.

Caruth will be responsible for overall acquisitions, marketing and distribution for The Avenue, and the company will both acquire and produce its own films. Highland Film Sales will also provide financial support for films with global appeal.

Exclusive: Highland Film Group is launching The Avenue Entertainment, a new U.S. theatrical distribution arm with industry veteran JJ Caruth as President of Domestic Marketing & Distribution. The Avenue will handle theatrical distribution of six to eight titles per year and has signed an agreement with Paramount Home Entertainment to handle Blu-ray, DVD, VOD, and Digital distribution.

In her new role, Caruth will oversee the overall acquisitions, marketing and distribution strategy for The Avenue. This role links content from filmmakers to distribution throughout the product lifecycle to maximize the commercial success of each release. Highland Film Sales will provide financial support for films with global appeal.
