Janet Wood is extremely honored to be a Juror in this year's Angel Film Awards at the Monaco International Film Festival. The film in which she starred, A Late Separation, was voted Best Movie Short at the 2018 festivities. "It's great to be here, knowing how exciting it is for everyone involved. I support all the filmmakers and participants."
Janet has truly lived the actor's life, studying acting and taking dance classes in New York when she was 15 years old to prepare for her dream. She was determined to move to Los Angeles and met with great success as soon as she arrived. A member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors' Equity Association, Janet has starred in numerous television and movie roles on iconic shows like Three's Company (with John Ritter and Suzanne Somers) and dramatic roles as a contract player on the long-running award-winning daytime dramas Days of Our Lives, and Young and the Restless, where she originated the role of April, frequently acting with David Hasselhoff. She performed in the feature film Foul Play (with Goldie Hawn,) the television version of Fame, The Wonder Years, Melrose Place (with Lisa Rinna,) Charmed (with Shannon Doherty), Six Feet Under (with Rachel Griffiths,) Monk (with Tony Shalhoub,) and again with John Ritter in The Last Fling. Janet worked with Kim Basinger and Tab Hunter in the 2-hour movie Katie: Portrait of a Centerfold. She has done over 55 television and movie roles and is a Performers Peer Group Member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
A founding member of the non-profit The Group Rep at the Lonny Chapman Theater in North Hollywood, California, now in its 50th continuous year, the stage holds a large part of Janet's heart. She has performed many roles of which she can be proud in such varied productions as Company and The Baby Dance, but none as meaningful to her as her starring performance as Maude in Harold and Maude, a character she has wanted to play her whole life. "It was a dream come true," said Janet. A Broadway World nominee, additional awards include the Eddon Award, the prestigious ADA award, and Best Supporting Actress in a Musical, among others.
For over 35 years, Janet has produced the annual Foster Children's Holiday Party, inviting 100 children from foster homes in the Los Angeles area to a fun-filled day of entertainment, games, a kid-friendly lunch, and a play written just for the children. Santa is always on hand to end the fun day with a gift for each child. Janet is dedicated to keeping this tradition thriving, which is why it has become the charity of choice.
