Britain’s Haunted Hotspots Exposed by ‘The Supernatural UK’
Image
When YouTube becomes a portal to the uncanny from 21 July, The Supernatural UK will strip away artifice and invite viewers on an unscripted tour of Britain’s most haunted sites. Filmmakers John Shackleton and Andy Bourne deploy a fly-on-the-wall approach to paranormal investigation in this ten-episode series, which drops weekly at 7pm and pits seasoned investigators against poltergeists, malevolent dolls and shape-shifting goblins.

Across three themed strands – Attractions, Somerset and Warwick Castle – The Supernatural UK embeds Shackleton with teams of experts who bring their own tools and philosophies to each location. The first Attractions triptych visits Nottingham’s Museum of Curiosities, Monmouth’s Savoy Theatre and Bath’s House of Frankenstein. In the Museum of Curiosities episode, Diane Chambers and Justin Cowell track mysterious doll movements and cellar whispers. Craig Williams and Amy Cox brave Storm Éowyn at the Savoy Theatre, chasing the legend of a phantom performer. In Bath,...

I, Jack Wright Review: A Dynasty in Decay
Image
From the moment a lifeless figure is discovered in a dusty pigeon loft, I, Jack Wright drags us into a chamber of rituals: the solemn gathering, the crack of the lawyer’s ledger, the will proclaimed like an oracle’s verdict. Jack’s sudden absence reveals itself less as an end than a threshold to revelation—each beneficiary framed in the cold light of familial obligation, greed and unspoken grief. Chris Lang, whose reputation was etched in the hushed corridors of Unforgotten, pulls these six chapters into focus with both deft precision and an appetite for moral uncertainty. Commissioned by UKTV’s U&Alibi and destined for broader audiences on BBC One, the series feels wrought from careful design: each hour a modular piece of a larger game, measured yet restless. The writing carries...

Ind v Aus: John Wright dismisses Ian Healy's comments on 'unfair' pitches for Test series
Image
Mumbai, Feb 4 (Ians) With only a few days left before the start of the India versus Australia Test series next week, there is a lot of focus on the pitches that the four-match series will be played on with the Australians raising concerns on rank turners that their teams will have to play on.

Former Australia wicket-keeper Ian Healy has accused the Board of Control for Cricket in India (Bcci) will provide square-turners and termed such tactics “unfair”. However, former India coach John Wright has hit back at Healy claiming that teams playing at home are entitled to produce pitches to suit their own team.

Healy, the cricketer-turned-commentator, started the debate by claiming that India could win the series only by producing “unreasonable wickets”, adding that it only benefits Indian cricketers and should not be promoted again.

“They (India) have got a good team but I’m not too scared...

Looking forward to how India play Kiwi swing bowlers: Hesson
Image
Auckland, June 6 (Ians) Former New Zealand cricket coach Mike Hesson feels that both India and the Kiwis are evenly matched in the World Test Championship (Wtc) final which starts at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton on June 18.

Hesson says he is keenly looking forward to how the India top-order will fare against the swinging ball in Southampton when the cross breeze comes into play and feels the match will be a test of captaincy for both Virat Kohli and his opposite number, Kane Williamson, given that the wicket will change from day to day.

"They are even (India and New Zealand). The fact that it's being played at a neutral venue also makes the Wtc final an even contest. Assuming there are no injuries in the next couple of weeks, both sides will be at full strength, and we are in for an exciting contest," said Hesson, who took over...

Deep Rising
Let’s hear it for ‘undiscriminating’ audiences, the kind that want nothing more in a movie than a hundred minutes of combat action, suspense, scary monsters and gross-out gore. They’ll get their fill in Stephen Sommers’ Cuisinart blending of Titanic, Aliens and Die Hard. It’s quality fast food exploitation; just keep your medicine handy if you’re allergic to brainless cornball dialogue.
