Sting‘s daughter Fuschia Kate Sumner is married!

The 43-year-old actress and director tied the knot with longtime partner Max Wright over the weekend in the Sicilian town of Noto in Italy.

Sting and his wife Trudie Styler were there for the multi-day event, which kicked off on Friday (July 11). We have photos of the pre-wedding festivities, which drew a big crowd in the city for a street party.

The wedding ceremony took place on Saturday (July 12) and Kate‘s sister Mickey Sumner served as the maid of honor.

“We did it! The most fun 3 days of our lives,” Kate wrote on Instagram Stories. She promised her followers, “Wedding spam incoming, once we’ve slept for at least 12 hours.”

Malcolm in the Middle and King of the Hill will soon experience a resurrection. These are just two of the many recent examples of long-dead sitcoms returning for new episodes. While this might seem like a relatively recent phenomenon, it’s not that far away from a much older TV tradition: the sitcom reunion special. These typically one-hour specials would drop in on the beloved star characters and see how they’re doing years later.

In fact, sometimes a reunion special was exactly what a show needed to tie up loose ends after the series was unexpectedly canceled; for example, in a Gilligan’s Island reunion, all the castaways were rescued. Other times, however, the whole thing comes off as forced and dated.

Here are five such examples of TV reunion specials with varying levels of success…

For most Bob Newhart fans, his original sitcom, The Bob Newhart Show, is his crown jewel, but I’ll admit a slight preference for his 1980s show Newhart. Perhaps it’s because I grew up watching the second show on Nick at Nite or maybe it’s because broader characters — like Larry, Darryl and Darryl — seemed to make Newhart slightly angrier (and even funnier) than he was in the original.

Whatever the reason, when I revisited the series last year, I was enjoying the eight-season trip down memory lane until I realized that the show’s series finale — which is usually regarded as one of the greatest in TV history — was missing from Amazon Prime. Not only that, but several other episodes were missing, too. It turns out, YouTube is the only place where you can watch the entirety of the show.

In the "Alf" episode "Somewhere Over the Rerun," also alternately titled as "The Ballad of Gilligan's Island", the furry little alien Alf (voiced by Paul Fusco), becomes obsessed with watching reruns of "Gilligan's Island" on TV. Alf dreams of living with the castaways of Sherwood Schwartz's 1964 sitcom, feeling them to be delightfully funny and living in a tropical paradise. What could be better? He begins dressing in Hawaiian shirts and ordering bamboo furniture, hoping to turn the ordinarily unassuming Tanner household into something more interesting. 

Alf's obsession with "Gilligan's Island" leads him into the Tanners' backyard, where he begins digging up all the grass, hoping to create a tropical lagoon just like on his favorite show. This causes Willie (Max Wright) to become furious, and he demands that Alf fill in all the dirt he dug up. While filling the yard back in, Alf falls asleep and begins to dream.

Once you get seriously into gaming, you will quickly notice there are two types of characters.

Playable characters, usually the central protagonist and or a group of friends the protagonists interact with that you occasionally control.

You’re bound to run into some memorable enemies along the way, with their Shakespearean monologues and super laser weapon systems.

Most of the characters you see will be “Non-playable characters” who have no real personalities but just sort of limp along with you to advance the plot.

It turns out that these NPCs are all over television, too.

Some of these NPCs are obvious.

They’re not quite at the level of “characters overstaying their welcome,” but they do seem to elicit a ho-hum from most of the audience.

Benji Gregory, the former child actor who starred in the 1980s sitcom Alf, passed away at 46.

His sister, Rebecca Hertzberg-Pfaffinger, confirmed to the New York Times that Gregory and his service dog were found dead in his car on June 13 in a bank parking lot in Peoria, Arizona.

The family suspects he died from vehicular heatstroke, although the official cause of death is still pending an investigation.

Hertzberg-Pfaffinger described Gregory as a wonderful son, brother, and uncle in a heartfelt Facebook post on Wednesday.

“He was fun to be around and made us laugh quite often. Still, going through his things, I find myself laughing at little videos or notes of his, in between crying,” she wrote.

Arizona was experiencing a severe heatwave at the time of his death, with temperatures reaching 108 degrees on June 12 and 111 degrees on June 13.

Benji Gregory, the former child star known for his role on the 1980s sitcom Alf, has died. He was 46.

Gregory’s sister, Rebecca Hertzberg-Pfaffinger, told The New York Times that the actor and his service dog, Hans, were both found dead in his car on June 13 in a parking lot in Peoria, Arizona. Though the cause of death is pending, Hertzberg-Pfaffinger wrote in a Facebook post she believes her brother fell asleep in the car and died of heatstroke.

Alf, which ran for four seasons from 1986-90, saw Gregory as one of two children in the Tanner family who became best friends with Alf, an Alien Life Form who crash-landed through their garage. Max Wright and Anne Schedeen played the boy’s parents, and Andrea Elson was his sister.

Benjamin Gregory Hertzberg was born in Encino on May 26, 1978. Per IMDb, his father, uncle and sister were all actors, and his grandmother was his agent.

Recasting happens all the time. As Paramount’s British series “A Gentleman in Moscow” hopes to break into the highly competitive limited series races, the show has submitted for 20 Primetime Emmys, including lead actor for star Ewan McGregor and supporting actress for Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

The eight-episode series follows an aristocrat, Count Alexander Ilyich Rostov, who spends decades banished to an attic hotel room following the October Revolution after being sentenced to house arrest by a Bolshevik tribunal. Based on the 2016 novel by Amor Towles, the series was written by Ben Vanstone, who also serves as the executive producer and showrunner, and whose pilot episode titled “A Master of Circumstance” is submitted for consideration. The same episode will represent Sam Miller in the directing race, who has previously landed three Emmy bids: one for “Luther” in 2012 and two “I May Destroy You” in 2021.

The series received solid reviews from critics and boasted an impressive 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Alf is coming back to life. Ryan Reynolds has revived the ‘80s sitcom character for his Maximum Effort Channel, an offshoot of his advertising and marketing agency. However, most of the drama in Big Little Lies season 1 comes from Amabella's storyline, as it's revealed she's being harmed by someone, and she accuses one of her classmates. Along with creating tension within the community, the truth behind Amabella's bully on Big Little Lies links to one of the show's darker storylines.

Norm Macdonald, the deadpan comedian, actor, writer and “Saturday Night Live” star, has died after a battle with cancer, Variety has confirmed. He was 61.

Macdonald privately battled the disease for almost a decade. “Norm was an original! He defined American humor with honesty and blunt force,” Jeff Danis, president of Dpn Talent and one of Macdonald’s reps, told Variety in a statement.

Dozens of comedians, including Seth Rogen, Jon Stewart, Ron Funches and Jim Gaffigan, paid tribute to Macdonald, “one of the greatest comedians to have ever lived,” on social media.

I recently had a chance to see a new indie sci-fi film called Time Trap. The movie currently has a limited theatrical release and if it’s playing at a theater near you it’s definitely worth checking out!

The movie has a fascinating, unique, and innovative concept and it was executed really well! The movie was made on a low-budget and it may be a little rough around the edges, but for the most part it’s an awesome movie that I recommend checking out.

Meryl Streep has officially arrived in Monterey to join the cast of “Big Little Lies” for Season 2.

With the filming of the second season of the hit HBO series underway, Steep began shooting scenes as Mary Louise Wright, the mother of Perry Wright (Alexander Skarsgard) and mother-in-law of Nicole Kidman’s character. Streep’s involvement with the series was announced in January.

Kidman posted a picture on Instagram of Streep alongside Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti, who play her on-screen twin boys Josh and Max Wright. The caption said, “First day on the set with Meryl and ‘my’ darling boys! #BigLittleLies.”

Chicago – December 9th is the 2014 second season premiere of “Ground Floor,” the TBS workplace comedy featuring John C. McGinley (“Scrubs”), plus Skylar Astin and Briga Heelan (seen in the film “Pitch Perfect”). Chicago native Cindy Caponera is a writer and co-executive producer on the show.

In a variation on the “Slobs versus the Snobs” scenario, “Ground Floor” is set in a financial company that features a romance between an occupant of the upper floors – where the master-of-the-universe financial consultants hold court – and a worker on the “ground floor,” where the operations and maintenance crew resides. A big part of the hilarity is provided by John C. McGinley, playing a mentor character as in “Scrubs,” but in a softer and gently funny way. The chemistry between the featured couple, portrayed by Astin and Heelan, provides the conflict between the two parts of the company.

Hollywood continues to mine old '80s properties for 21st century reboots, even the most all-but-forgotten franchises such as "Alf," according to Heat Vision.

"Alf" (which stands for Alien Life Form, as explained by Max Wright's Willie Tanner in the pilot episode) followed the adventures of a furry wisecracking alien who came to live with a suburban family after crash-landing into their garage.

While never anything resembling great television,"Alf" got by on the charm of puppeteer Paul Fusco, who was also the series co-creator with Tom Patchett. "The show ended up airing for four seasons from 1986-1990.

Now, Alf is going to crash-land into some other garage as the star of a live-action/CG hybrid, a la last summer's "The Smurfs." In fact, the "Alf" movie comes courtesy of producer Jordan Kerner, who helped bring the Smurfs to the big screen. Both Patchett and Fusco are involved as well,...

The 1986 alien sitcom Alf (Alien Life Form) will be coming to the big screen as a CGI animated live-action hybrid. Sony Pictures animation just acquired the rights to the property, and it will be produced by Jordan Kerner, who brought the wonderfully awful big screen adaptation of The Smurfs. Hopefully the Alf movie will be a much better film adaptation. 

The story centers on a friendly furry alien creature, who crash lands on Earth and ends up shacking up with a suburban family named the Tanners. Of course he's being tracked down by the government as well. Alf is known for being a very sarcastic individual who loves to eat cats. 

The original series creators Tom Patchett and Paul Fusco will also serve as producers on the film. Fusco was also the puppeteer and voice of Alf on the series. As of right now, there is no writer or director attached to the project.

On the run for 40 years, Wright's tale has what it takes for screen success. But such storytelling needs a conscientious approach

If the story of George Wright, the convicted murderer captured this week in Portugal after 40 years on the run, has not yet been optioned by an enterprising producer, then the film industry has really missed a trick. From a cinematic storytelling perspective, this tale has everything. Wright, who had participated in a spree of armed robberies, was imprisoned for the murder of the service station owner Walter Patterson in 1962, only to escape from the Bayside state prison farm in Leesburg, New Jersey, in 1970. Already you've got the heist movie and the prison break-out movie covered. That's a big market: expressed in mathematical terms the potential audience would be (fans of Bonnie and Clyde) + (fans of The Shawshank Redemption). And only a fool would rule out defenders of Buster.

Max Headroom finally comes home to DVD Shout! Factory and Warner Home Video, a division of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Inc., announced a multi-property alliance to bring the highly anticipated Warner Bros. television series Max Headroom and The Norm Show to the home entertainment marketplace. Under its multi-year agreement with Warner Home Video, Shout! Factory will be the exclusive media company to distribute Max Headroom and The Norm Show DVDs for home entertainment releases in the United States and Canada. The announcement was made today by Shout! Factory founding partners Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos; and Jeff Brown, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Non-theatrical Franchise Marketing.

Production has begun to develop a wide range of bonus content for Max Headroom: The Complete Series DVD box set, as well as re-transferring the episodes from the original elements to provide the highest picture quality.

Al Pacino is set to wow theatregoers in his native New York - with a series of live performances in the city's Central Park next summer.

The Oscar winner is the headline act at 2010's Shakespeare in the Park series, playing Shylock in The Merchant of Venice - a role he played on the big screen back in 2004.

Pacino will be joined by Law & Order stars Jesse L. Martin and Ruben Santiago-Hudson, No Reservations' Lily Rabe and actors actors Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Max Wright.

The Merchant of Venice will alternate on the Central Park stage with a production of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale.

The Public Theater series will run from 9 June to 1 August.

One of the more memorable and unusual TV shows of the 1980s was Alf. It centers around an alien named Gordon Shumway from the doomed planet Melmac. He crash lands his spaceship into the California garage of the Tanner family, who nickname him Alf (Alien Life Form). The cast of the show includes Max Wright, Anne Schedeen, Andrea Elson, and Benji Gregory, with John Lamotta, Liz Sheridan, Anne Meara, and Paul Dooley. The series ran on NBC for four seasons and 102 episodes.

Alf kept the Tanners quite busy as he was constantly breaking things, trying to eat their cat, and just overall being obnoxious. Filming on the show was apparently a lot to handle as well.

The production details of the series were kept relatively secret during the show's production. Once the series finished airing, many in the cast and crew have conceded that the series was a technical nightmare...
