Jho Low, the playboy Malaysian financier who was central to the multi-billion dollar 1Mdb corruption scandal, has reportedly been located and his new identity discovered.
Low was the mastermind behind the embezzlement of at least $4.5 billion from the 1Mdb Malaysian development fund, much of which was used to buy luxury real estate across the U.S., plus art, a private jet and a superyacht. But he also managed to use the finances to ingratiate himself into Hollywood circles, most notably becoming close with Leonardo DiCaprio — who would star in 2013 hit “The Wolf of Wall Street,” which, in 2016, the Department of Justice alleged had been financed using stolen Malaysian money. DiCaprio thanked Low in his Golden Globes acceptance speech in 2014.

The George A. Romero / Stephen King horror anthology Creepshow is one of my all-time favorite movies – and so is the Michael Gornick-directed sequel Creepshow 2, which I’ve probably watched even more times than its predecessor. I love everything about Creepshow 2, so I was very glad to hear the news that Arrow Video is giving the film a 4K Uhd release in the US, the UK, and Canada. The release date is September 30th, and copies can be pre-ordered through a variety of links (check out the list on Arrow Video’s Facebook page), including This One.
Directed by Gornick from a screenplay by George A. Romero (based on stories written by Stephen King), Creepshow 2 has the following synopsis: Join our old friend, the rotting Creep himself, as he introduces this horror anthology which presents gruesome looks at three tales of horror: a hit-and-run driver in “The Hitchhiker...

The "Star Trek: Voyager" episode "Tuvix" was, for many years, mocked as one of the worst episodes in the series. The premise is risible: A transporter malfunction accidentally merges the stern, logical Tuvok (Tim Russ) with the jolly hobbit-like Neelix (Ethan Philips) to form Tuvix (Tom Wright), a being that shares the personalities of both. There had been plenty of fantastical, silly, and even stupid stories on "Star Trek" before, but this seemed to go one step beyond. It felt like a fully realized TV production of an idle doodle one might make in the margins of their notebook during 10th grade history -- or, at the very least, a question one might ask after a giant bong rip. Tuvok and Neelix are the opposite. What if they were the same guy? Cosmic.
But years later, after "Voyager" was off the air,...

John Carver will return to kill again in a sequel to Eli Roth's 2023 slasher movie Thanksgiving. The sequel has been in development for a while now, basically since the first movie released.
Debuting to critical acclaim and a decent box office return, Sony Pictures quickly revealed he would be cooking up a follow-up film and even posted the announcement on his Instagram page in November 2023. In his post, he confirmed that the movie would be released in fall 2025, but that date has started to seem impossible as updates on the sequel remain few and far between.
Well, we finally have something new to share about the film from star Nell Verlaque who plays one of the film's few survivors, Jessica, daughter of store owner Thomas Wright (Rick Hoffman).
During the premiere of her new series Overcompensating, Verlaque was asked about the sequel and said she thinks they're going to...

With Eli Roth directing the upcoming horror films Ice Cream Man and Final Cut for his own company The Horror Section, you might be wondering if his studio slasher franchise Thanksgiving has fallen by the wayside. Last we heard, Roth would be returning to direct Thanksgiving 2 for Sony and Spyglass, but what’s the latest on the holiday slasher sequel?
Thanksgiving star Nell Verlaque, who will return for the sequel, says in a new chat with Variety that she expects filming to take place on Thanksgiving 2 later this year.
“There is a script. I know that the goal is to film it this year,” Verlaque tells the outlet.
The actress notes, “[Eli Roth’s] a great director. I told him I really wanted to be tortured… like fully pain, tortured [in the sequel]. I would like to get covered in blood. I’ve read certain parts of [the script] and… he’s told me a few of the ideas.

Nearly three decades after its airdate, the Star Trek: Voyager episode Tuvix, remains one of the most hotly debated moments in Star Trek history. Debuting in 1995, the series followed the journey of the USS Voyager, stranded in a distant part of the galaxy, as its crew navigated survival and mortality.
In the episode, Captain Janeway faces an ethical dilemma involving the accidental creation of Tuvix, a fusion of Tuvok and Neelix. Janeway’s decision to reverse the process, effectively killing Tuvix to restore the original crew members, remains a point of contention for both fans and cast members alike.

A sequel to Eli Roth's 2023 slasher film Thanksgiving is officially in the works and will reportedly be released in 2025. Given how the first movie ended, we already have a rough idea of who will return, but a few actors have discussed coming back for the sequel, and Roth has teased that Addison Rae might be one of them. Spoilers ahead for Thanksgiving ending.
Since it has only been one year since the movie was first released in theaters, many are bound to rewatch it as the beginning of a holiday tradition. There aren't many Thanksgiving horror movies out there, and this one fully leans into its premise.
At the end of the first movie, Rae's character, Gaby, is one of several to survive John Carver's reign of terror in the town of Plymouth, Massachusetts. She survives alongside several of her friends, including Jessica (Nell Verlaque).

Josh Berger, the respected exec who was previously the head of Warner Bros. UK and served as BFI Chair, has been named on the inaugural advisory board for Project Brazen, the fast-rising “global journalism studio and production company” set up by former WSJ reporters and bestselling authors Bradley Hope and Tom Wright.
Berger — who left Warner. Bros in 2020 and last year unveiled his own media investment company Battersea Entertainment — joins the board alongside a number of distinguished figures, including Mojo Partners exec director and Como Group director Melissa Ong, former Financial Times editor Lionel Barber and Pi Capital founder and CEO David Giampaolo.
“After three years of developing Project Brazen into a multi-platform network and original storytelling engine, we are excited to bring on advisors who believe in our disruptive business model,” said Hope, who alongside Wright wrote “Billion Dollar Whale,” about 1Mdb scandal and its various roots into Hollywood.

Last year, the Prime Video streaming service released the ten episode series Daisy Jones & The Six (watch it Here), based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid – a novel that was partially inspired by the complicated issues Fleetwood Mac band members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks dealt with behind the scenes. It isn’t directly the Fleetwood Mac story, but comparisons are unavoidable… and Steve Nicks soon let it be known that she loved the show and had watched its full run multiple times. She said, “It brought back memories that made me feel like a ghost watching my own story. It was very emotional for me,” and she joined many fans in hoping that there would be a second season. Since Daisy Jones & The Six covered the full story of Reid’s novel and was categorized as a limited series,...

Star Trek: The Original Series delivered on its promise to show Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and the crew of the Starship Enterprise on their mission "to explore strange new worlds" through the ingenious use of the transporter. Showing the USS Enterprise or a shuttlecraft touching down on every new planet would incur additional expenses, so Star Trek: The Original Series' writers invented the transporter to cheaply move landing parties from ship to planet and back. Since then, the transporter has been a staple of Star Trek storytelling in every Star Trek show.
Star Trek's transporter works by converting matter to energy at a subatomic level. The energy stream is fed through the pattern buffer, then the emitter array, and transmitted through subspace to be rematerialized at the desired location. Beaming back from a location back to a transporter room requires the transporter operator to get a lock...

Star Trek: Voyager season 4 finally proved how hypocritical Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) was in her decision to end the life of Tuvix (Tom Wright) in season 2. As the lead among Voyager's cast of characters and the Captain of the USS Voyager, Janeway often had to make hard decisions, usually for the greater good. These included getting her crew permanently stranded in the Delta Quadrant to uphold the Prime Directive in Voyager's pilot episode, "Caretaker," but destroying the Caretaker's array wasn't the most controversial decision Janeway made during Voyager's run.
During the season 2 episode "Tuvix," Tuvok (Tim Russ) and Neelix (Ethan Phillips) were spliced together into one being due to a transporter accident. While Tuvix was a sentient being who wished to continue living, Janeway forced him to be separated back into Tuvok and Neelix to save both their lives. In the "Star Trek: Voyager" episode "Tuvix", the jolly hobbit-like chef Neelix (Ethan Phillips) and the emotionless Vulcan security officer Tuvok (Tim Russ) are on a botanical mission together, collecting rare alien fauna for survival purposes. When they beam back to the U.S.S. Voyager with a bag of plants, however, the transporter goes haywire and accidentally fuses them into a single amalgamated being. The new entity bears a perfect blend of Neelix and Tuvok's physical appearances, and possesses both of their memories and personalities. The new being calls themself Tuvix (Tom Wright) and soon incorporates themself into the crew, finding that they are happy as an amalgamated being with their own identity.

In the "Star Trek: Voyager" episode "Tuvix", a transporter accident fused the stern, logical Vulcan Tuvok (Tim Russ) with the jolly hobbit-like chef Neelix (Ethan Phillips) into a single being. This new being, who says he's named Tuvix (Tom Wright) possesses memories and personality traits from both Tuvok and Neelix, which is a matter of great consternation from Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) and the crew of the Voyager. Tuvix soon finds that he likes his new amalgam personality, finding happiness and agency as an individual.
Soon, however, the Voyager engineers find a way to reverse the effects of the transporter accident and separate Tuvix back into his two constituent beings. Tuvix objects, of course. To do so would mean to murder him. Surely a newly created person has rights just as much as any other member of the crew, and Tuvix would like them to be protected. Notoriously among Trekkies,...

Project Brazen, the Peabody-nominated global journalism studio founded by former Wall Street Journal reporters and bestselling authors Bradley Hope and Tom Wright, has launched a new podcast about the unsolved gas attack at the 2014 MidWest FurFest convention in Chicago.
The six-part “Fur & Loathing,” the first episode of which releases today, investigates what happened on the final night of the convention for furry fandom — a frequently misunderstood global internet subculture centred around anthropomorphic animal characters — when poisonous levels of chlorine gas swept through the corridors of the Hyatt Regency in Rosemont, Illinois. Eli Roth’s slasher Thanksgiving is now available on DVD and Blu-ray, and fans of the film will be happy to hear that a sequel is already on the way. Sony’s TriStar plans on releasing Thanksgiving 2 in theaters worldwide in 2025, we learned late last year. Eli Roth and Jeff Rendell are back to write the screenplay for the upcoming sequel.
“We’re gonna take a year off so we can really, really write a great script. We want to outdo ourselves. Make it better than the first one,” Roth teased back in November.
So what can we expect from Thanksgiving 2? Will it be a direct sequel to the first film, following the surviving characters? Or will Roth pivot to a new slasher story entirely?
Well, chatting with Games Radar this week, Thanksgiving stars Nell Verlaque and Rick Hoffman both strongly suggest they’ll be back in Roth’s upcoming sequel.

Starting with the original series, Star Trek has adopted a quasi-military series of ranks and protocols for its characters. Starfleet is ostensibly a peaceful organization dedicated to exploration and diplomacy, but things can get dangerous on the final frontier. A functioning chain of command is necessary in the event of trouble to ensure that everyone operates at peak efficiency.
It's a bit of a paradox, since Starfleet officers also tend to be rugged individualists, but it makes a good deal of sense and over time has become an indispensable part of the franchise. A given character's rank speaks volumes about their comparative age, their position onboard, and their relationship with the other members of the crew. As with most things Star Trek, rank insignia has evolved over time. Here's a breakdown of Starfleet's ranking system in descending order from the lowliest cadets to the most powerful admirals.

Tom Wright's portrayal of Tuvix in Star Trek: Voyager's "Tuvix" episode is memorable because he effectively channels both Ethan Phillips and Tim Russ. Initially, there was a discussion about having Ethan Phillips play Tuvix, but it was ultimately decided that having a third actor, Tom Wright, was a better choice. Having a new actor play Tuvix made it more believable that Tuvix was a completely new entity and not just a combination of Tuvok and Neelix. It also created a more challenging moral dilemma for Captain Janeway.

Star Trek: Voyager fans continue to debate the Tuvix controversy, and the actor of the character himself has a clear opinion.
In the Season 2 episode "Tuvix," Tuvok (Tim Russ) and Neelix (Ethan Phillips) are accidentally merged into a single life form played by Tom Wright. Featuring personality traits and physical attributes from both Tuvok and Neelix, the new being was named Tuvix, though his existence put Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) in a moral conundrum. The crew had the technology to split Tuvix back into Tuvok and Neelix, but it would mean essentially executing this new person that was created. Though Tuvix pleaded for his life, Janeway ultimately ordered the separation.

Tuvix's existence in Star Trek: Voyager sparked intense debate and remains a controversial episode almost three decades later. Actor Tom Wright, who played Tuvix, believes the character had to be separated, despite his personal attachment to the role. While alternative solutions are proposed, the ultimate decision to end Tuvix's life was necessary for the continuation of the show and the protection of other crew members.
Tom Wright, who played Tuvix in Star Trek: Voyager, says that his controversial character "had to go." Tuvix was created in Voyager season 2, episode 24 "Tuvix", when a transporter accident merges Lt. Tuvok (Tim Russ) and Neelix (Ethan Phillips) into one being. This places Captain Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) in a moral dilemma because as the captain, Janeway must decide whether to let Tuvix continue his existence as a new entity or use the Doctor's (Robert Picardo) newfound method to separate Tuvix into Tuvok and Neelix.

Tom Wright praises the scenes with Jennifer Lien in which their characters share a deep emotional connection. The Kes and Tuvix relationship is crucial in helping the audience understand that Tuvix is not the same as the original characters. Kes' negative reaction to Tuvix's romantic advances highlights the loss of both Neelix and Tuvok, influencing Janeway's decision to separate Tuvix.
Tom Wright, who played Tuvix in Star Trek: Voyager season 2, episode 24, "Tuvix", has high praise for the scenes that he shared with Kes actress Jennifer Lien. In "Tuvix", a transporter accident merges Lt. Tuvok (Tim Russ) and Talaxian chef Neelix (Ethan Phillips) into a single being named Tuvix, who shares characteristics of both Tuvok and Neelix. Most members of the USS Voyager's crew grow accustomed to Tuvix over the months that the hybrid being is with them, but Kes (Jennifer Lien) becomes uncertain when Tuvix wishes to resume Neelix's relationship with Kes.

Eli Roth believes a high-budget Easter Bunny slasher film could be an interesting concept to explore, adding a compelling twist to the beloved holiday character. The success of Thanksgiving as a holiday-themed horror film shows that there is still an audience for these types of movies. Although Roth's current focus is on the Thanksgiving franchise, his idea for an Easter-themed slasher could inspire other established horror directors to create similar movies.
Thanksgiving director Eli Roth has revealed what other holiday he'd like to see turned into a gory slasher film. The horror creator's latest film follows a slasher villain in Plymouth, Massachusetts whose Thanksgiving-themed kills are connected to a Black Friday tragedy the year before. The movie's success has resulted in a sequel being confirmed, no doubt continuing to use the holiday as its backdrop.

Thanksgiving 2, the slasher film directed by Eli Roth, has been officially announced. Thanksgiving had a low budget of $15 million but performed well at the box office, opening to $10.3 million and maintaining strong numbers in its second week. Director Eli Roth confirmed the greenlight for Thanksgiving 2 on his official Instagram, offering insight into his plans for writing the movie.
Thanksgiving 2 has been officially announced. The new slasher Thanksgiving, which was directed by Eli Roth, is expanded from the parody trailer he contributed to the 2007 throwback double feature Grindhouse. It follows the masked killer John Carver descending on the town of Plymouth to murder townspeople over Thanksgiving week as revenge for a deadly Black Friday incident the previous year. The movie, which only cost $15 million to make, opened to $10.3 million at the domestic box office and went on to post the smallest second-week drop of any 2023 horror movie.

The director and screenwriter of "Thanksgiving" — Eli Roth and Jeff Rendell, respectively — have been very vocal about the fact that Thanksgiving seems to be a holiday with vast untapped potential as fodder for horror films, slasher movies in particular. After all, Halloween and Christmas are well-trodden as body count fare and even lesser holidays like Independence Day have their memorable slashers. Poor Turkey Day has only one; though "Blood Rage" is a pretty fantastic little indie that everyone should make a part of their yearly traditions, it uses Thanksgiving as a side dish rather than the main course.
So, Roth and Rendell were determined to fill this void themselves, and 2007's "Grindhouse" project by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino gave them just the opportunity they needed. Adding a few days onto the "Hostel Part II" shoot, Roth shot a faux trailer for "Thanksgiving" in the Grindhouse manner, making it look...

Since its very first episode, Star Trek: Lower Decks has excavated the most embarrassing parts of Star Trek lore, refusing to let even tangential parts of the franchise go forgotten. The Next Generation‘s second-worst enemy race the Pakleds became major antagonists in Lower Decks, and Boimler showed unironic appreciation for a Tom Paris commemorative plate. Heck, even the Space Fun Helmet made a brief appearance.
So it’s no surprise that Lower Decks would eventually get around to one of the great debates in Star Trek history: how do you solve a problem like Tuvix? No-win scenarios, moral debates, ethical dilemmas -- there's hardly a single philosophical argument or weighty concern that "Star Trek" has ever shied away from throughout the thoughtful sci-fi franchise's five-plus decades of existence. That's not to say they've all been handled equally or with consistent levels of success, mind you. For every sobering lesson learned by Kirk and Spock in "The Original Series" or patented Jean-Luc Picard speech summing up the poignant themes at the end of an episode of "The Next Generation" or the far more murky politics of "Deep Space Nine," there have been instances like the most notorious episode of "Star Trek: Voyager" to ever air: the great Tuvix controversy, which "Lower Decks" lovingly lampoons -- and, arguably, even justifies -- in its entertaining season 4 premiere.
A continuing source of debate to this day among fans and creatives alike,...

This post contains spoilers for the season 4 premiere of "Star Trek: Lower Decks."
The first episode of the fourth season of "Star Trek: Lower Decks," called "Twovix," plunges Trekkies straight into a cauldron of "Star Trek: Voyager" references. It's as if the writers had been saving up all their "Voyager" jokes and, golly, just couldn't stand holding back any longer. Fans of Captain Janeway and her famous, decades-old vessel will have a bloody field day spotting all the references to particular 1990s episodes, and seeing the hallways and bridge of the U.S.S. Voyager realized in animation will certainly provide a thrill. The makers of "Lower Decks" even threw in a few notable notes from Jerry Goldsmith's orchestral theme song, and cast "Voyager" actor Ethan Phillips in a notable supporting role. Those "Voyager" fans are of an intrepid class.
Even the plot of "Twovix" is a spiritual sequel...

Captain Janeway's decision to kill Tuvix is a controversial moment in Star Trek: Voyager, as she ends the life of a sentient being for her own benefit. This goes against Starfleet's ideals of respecting all new life and finding peaceful solutions. The use of a radioactive isotope to separate Tuvok and Neelix's personas was a quick fix suggested by the Doctor, but it didn't give him enough time to find an alternative solution that could have saved Tuvix's life. Janeway appears wracked with guilt after making the decision to kill Tuvix, highlighting the moral complexity of the situation and adding to the controversy surrounding her actions.
The decision by Captain Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) on how to solve a problem like Tuvix (Tom Wright) is one of the biggest controversies in Star Trek: Voyager, if not the entire franchise. The Voyager episode "Tuvix" is an episode in the transporter malfunction subgenre.

Captain Janeway's controversial decision to separate Tuvok and Neelix in Star Trek: Voyager is unfairly scrutinized, as other Starfleet officers have committed worse offenses. Janeway faces more condemnation because she is a female captain, highlighting the greater scrutiny women in positions of power often face. The meme sparks important moral questions, showing that Star Trek: Voyager and the franchise as a whole generate thought-provoking discussions on complex issues.
A Star Trek meme found on Reddit perfectly illustrates why it's hypocritical to condemn Star Trek: Voyager's Captain Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) for her actions when other Starfleet officers have done the same and worse. As Captain of the USS Voyager, Janeway faced more challenges than most Star Trek captains after her ship ended up 70,000 light years from home in the Delta Quadrant. Janeway could not visit a Federation starbase or send out a distress call to fellow starships for help.

Earlier this year, the Prime Video streaming service released the ten episode series Daisy Jones & The Six (watch it Here), based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid – a novel that was partially inspired by the complicated issues Fleetwood Mac band members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks dealt with behind the scenes. It isn’t directly the Fleetwood Mac story, but comparisons are unavoidable. And now Nicks has taken to social media to share what she thought of the Prime series. In short, she loved it!
Developed for television by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, Daisy Jones & The Six has the following synopsis: In 1977, Daisy Jones & The Six were on top of the world. Fronted by two heat seeking missiles in Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne, the band had risen from obscurity to fame. And then, after a sold-out...

Daisy Jones & The Six star Sam Claflin arrived at his final audition to play fictional 1970s rock star Billy Dunne without, by his own admission, the strongest grasp on the type of musician he was expected to embody.
His future showrunners had already taken a shine to the dimpled British actor, as had music supervisor Frankie Pine and producer Hello Sunshine’s president Lauren Neustadter, but one last hurdle remained before he could land the male lead in Amazon’s hot adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel of the same name. He had to sing live for the project’s music producers, Blake Mills and Tony Berg. Pine gave Claflin a shot of moonshine to soothe his nerves. The actor entered the storied halls of Sound City Studios, the Van Nuys building where Mick Fleetwood first met Lindsey Buckingham, and proceeded to kind of blow it. “I had prepared Elton John’s ‘Your Song,...

Based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel, the Prime Video series stars Riley Keough as the eponymous star who joins a new band, featuring the likes of Sam Claflin’s Billy Dunne, who are on top of the world in 1977 but after a sold-out show at Chicago’s Soldier Field, they called it quits.
Now, decades later, the band members finally agree to reveal the truth.
At Deadline’s Contenders Television panel featuring Keough, Claflin and Camila Morrone, showrunner Scott Neustadter teased that he’s made a whole pitch full of ideas for more stories, despite the series being based on a book.
