Following a public funeral procession through the streets of Birmingham on Wednesday (July 30th), Ozzy Osbourne was laid to rest at the grounds of his mansion in Buckinghamshire, England, on Thursday (July 31st).

TMZ further reported that Zakk Wylde, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, and Slipknot singer Corey Taylor were in attendance, as well.

In burying Ozzy near a lake at his estate, Sharon Osbourne granted the metal legend’s wishes. In his autobiography I Am Ozzy, he wrote, “I’ve said to Sharon: ‘Don’t cremate me, whatever you do.’ I want to be put in the ground, in a nice garden somewhere, with a tree planted over my head.'”

Zakk Wylde spoke warmly about his long relationship with Ozzy Osbourne, and shared a few memories from their final performances together, in a new interview with Guitar World.

The conversation marks the first time Wylde has spoken publicly since Osbourne’s death last week. Wylde started playing with Osbourne in 1987 and continued to perform and record with him at regular intervals over the decades. Even when they weren’t working together, Wylde and Osbourne remained close friends.

“Oz was just the best,” Wylde said. “I have my father, who was...

Image
In a new interview, Zakk Wylde reflected on the “incredible life” of his friend and longtime musical partner Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away last week at the age of 76.

The guitarist, while speaking with Guitar World, also discussed his final interactions and text exchange with Ozzy surrounding the “Back to the Beginning” concert, during which Wylde and Ozzy shared the stage for the final time

Wylde called the historic July 5th show “business as usual” when it came to performing Ozzy’s solo songs — which the guitarist said are “ingrained in my head” — but that the priority was “making sure that Oz was okay” rather than playing perfectly.

“With ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home,’ when we got the acoustic out, I had to be like, ‘Keep the guitar away from the microphone so I can sing,’ because Oz’s voice was having trouble at certain notes,...

Ozzy Osbourne's Final Performance Gives New Meaning to "Mama I'm Coming Home"
Image
Ozzy Osbourne’s death in July 2025 was a blow for many, since the Black Sabbath frontman had always been larger than life. But after living many years with Parkinson’s disease, the Prince of Darkness ultimately died, not two weeks following Black Sabbath’s farewell tour. This would have already been fitting for the rockstar, but one of his final songs is likely to leave fans even more emotional. One of his final on-stage performances was the power ballad, “Mama I’m Coming Home,” which appeared on the 1991 album “No More Tears.”

“Mama I’m Coming Home” was written by the late Mötorhead guitarist, Lemmy Kilmister and guitarist Zakk Wylde, who had worked with Osbourne for many years. As it happens, this song had an extremely personal meaning for the star. The track was reportedly a song directed at Osbourne’s wife, Sharon Osbourne, as he realized that if he did not embrace sobriety,...

Billy Idol Remembers Ozzy Osbourne: “He Opened Musical Doorways for People Like Me”
Image
Billy Idol is one of many in the music industry grieving Tuesday after the legendary Ozzy Osbourne died at age 76. In Idol’s case, he credits Osbourne for “showing us the way” to succeed as punk-rockers. Just last October, Idol helped celebrate Ozzy’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist by performing “No More Tears” at the ceremony, joined by his bandmate Steve Stevens, one-time Oz collaborators Zakk Wylde and Robert Trujillo, along with the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith. During interviews at the time, Ozzy praised Idol and said he, too, should be inducted into the Cleveland shrine, and it was no coincidence that Billy found his name among this year’s nominees, even if he didn’t make the cut this time. Here, Idol remembers Osbourne for his indelible mark on music and the path he carved for those who came after him.

Ozzy Osbourne died at the age of 76 on Tuesday morning, July 22nd.

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” his family said in a statement. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

No cause of death was given, though the last several years leading up to his passing had been a rough ride for Ozzy in terms of his health. He was forced to postpone his “No More Tours 2” farewell tour, first due to a bout with pneumonia, then due to a serious fall while at home in Los Angeles, which resulted in multiple surgeries. In early 2020, he went public with Parkinson’s disease, just before the pandemic hit.

Despite his ailments, Osbourne mustered the strength to play one...

The Violent Hour (Carla Harvey & Charlie Benante) Set July Release for Debut EP
Image
The Violent Hour — the new project featuring Carla Harvey and Charlie Benante — have announced a July 25th release date for their self-titled debut EP.

Harvey penned all the lyrics and handled vocals on the five-song EP, while Benante composed the music and performed all the instruments, save for a few guest appearances. John 5 and Zakk Wylde lent their guitar skills to previously released singles “Sick Ones” and “Hell or Hollywood,” respectively, while Crobot frontman Brandon Yeagley provided guest vocals on the yet-to-be-released track “Portland, Oregon.”

“Writing this EP was a liberating experience,” stated Harvey. “When I started, I felt lost…but by the time I sang the last note, I had found myself again. From the beginning, I wanted the music to come out organically: no agenda, just whatever needed to be released. I’ve been immersed in a world of guttural screaming for so long, but when I...

Carla Harvey Unveils New Violent Hour Single “Hell or Hollywood” Featuring Zakk Wylde
Image
Former Butcher Babies singer Carla Harvey has unveiled the single/video “Hell or Hollywood” as the latest offering from her new project The Violent Hour. The single features a guest guitar solo from Zakk Wylde.

The new song, which follows previous single “Sick Ones” featuring John 5, has a distinctive ’80s hard rock vibe, and is accompanied by a music video filmed at the famed Rainbow Bar & Grill in Hollywood, California. In the clip, actors portray Lemmy Kilmister, Janis Joplin, and Kurt Cobain.

“Shooting the ‘Hell or Hollywood’ video at the Rainbow was a full-circle moment for me,” stated Harvey. “As a kid growing up in the Midwest, I saw the Rainbow in rock mags and iconic Guns N’ Roses videos…it exuded that gritty, dangerous, rock ’n’ roll lifestyle I craved. When I moved to LA, I practically lived there. I made my first friends at the Rainbow,...

Some of them look like the signature models for rock gods like Dave Grohl, Ace Frehley, or Zakk Wylde. Some even appear to be autographed by Slash. But all of them are fake.

On Tuesday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection revealed one of the largest counterfeit instrument busts in history, announcing a seizure of more than 3,000 fake Gibson electric guitars that were shipped into the U.

Zakk Wylde Performs Shred Guitar Rendition of the National Anthem at Seattle Seahawks Game: Watch
Image
In the hometown of the legendary Jimi Hendrix, guitarist Zakk Wylde performed the National Anthem ahead of the Seattle Seahawks’ home matchup against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday (November 3rd) at Lumen Field.

Donning a Seahawks journey and flanked by Marshall stacks, Wylde tore through a shred-metal rendition of the “The Star-Spangled Banner,” improvising over the anthem just as Hendrix did during his iconic Woodstock performance.

The Ozzy Osbourne/Pantera axeman made heavy use of finger tapping and chorus effects, stretching out notes and phrases before circling back to the source material and original melody. It sounds like a solo guitar interlude during a heavy metal concert, with Wylde staying firmly in his lane despite playing to a more mainstream football audience.

Reactions to the uncompromisingly metal rendition were largely positive, with the YouTube comment section filled with sign-of-the-horns emojis and adjectives such as “badass” and “sweet.

Ozzy Osbourne Inducted Into Rock Hall by Electrifying Jack Black Speech and All-Star Performance
Image
Ozzy Osbourne was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday night (October 19th) in Cleveland with a rousing and highly entertaining speech by Jack Black. The Prince of Darkness was also honored with a three-song performance fronted by Maynard James Keenan, Jelly Roll, and Billy Idol.

Jack Black gave an all-time Rock Hall speech, with his face turning beet red as he hilariously screamed his way through a highly animated rundown of Ozzy’s various achievements.

Ozzy himself followed, sitting in a giant leather bat-design chair. The metal icon singled out his late guitarist Randy Rhoads and his wife Sharon during his brief speech.

The all-star performance was next, as Tool’s Maynard James Keenan sang “Crazy Train” alongside Wolfgang Van Halen on lead guitar, with a backing band of Chad Smith on drums, Robert Trujillo on bass, Andrew Watt on rhythm guitar, and Adam Wakeman on keyboards.

Image
The conductor of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s crazy train on Saturday night was actor Jack Black, who had the honor of inducting Ozzy Osbourne into the institution with a speech that was predictably reverent and hilarious.

In addition to celebrating the music of Osbourne’s first band, Black Sabbath, Black has long championed Osbourne’s solo career, performing “Crazy Train” as a member of Tenacious D and “Mr. Crowley” with Tom Morello’s son, Roman. In fact, he’s been a fan of Osbourne’s for most of his life.

Last month, Osbourne told Rolling Stone the anticipation of finding out whether or not he’d be inducted was driving him crazy. “It’s an honor that I’m nominated, but I’m not expecting to get in,...

Jerry Abbott, Father of Pantera’s Dimebag and Vinnie Paul, Dead at 80
Image
Jerry Abbott, the father of late Pantera members Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, has died at the age of 80.

The news of his passing was reported by his friend Danny Wood Sr., who wrote on social media, “I’m very sad to tell everyone of the passing of a close friend Jerry Abbott. He died last night in a Denton care giving facility. His Family is having a private Funeral for Family and close Friends with a Memorial Service being planned. Details soon.”

Jerry, who was a musician and recording engineer, was an instrumental figure throughout Pantera’s formative years. He managed the band and co-produced their albums during their pre-Cowboys From Hell days in the ’80s.

In 2014, 10 years after the death of Dimebag, Jerry released the autobiography Over My Shoulder: The Life and Times of Jerry Abbott, in which he detailed his relationship with his sons.

Pantera’s Phil Anselmo Brings “Young Dimebag” Lookalike Onstage to Sing “F**king Hostile”: Watch
Image
The revamped Pantera have made it their mission to honor late brothers Dimebag Darrell (guitar) and Vinnie Paul (drums) on their ongoing tour. On Saturday night (February 24th) in Baltimore, a young fan’s resemblance to Dime caught the attention of singer Philip Anselmo.

Seeing the fan with a curly mop of hair on his head brought back memories for Anselmo, who recalled his first meetings with Dimebag. “Some people might believe in reincarnation and stuff like that,” the Pantera frontman said from the stage. “There could be a younger Dimebag right up front … Dude, just shake your head like that and everybody in the whole place will see it. Hey, turn up the lights here. Show ’em. Look at that guy.”

“When I was first met Dime, his lid was exactly that length,” continued Anselmo, who invited up the fan to join the band onstage.

Image
Pantera kicked off their 2024 North American tour with Lamb of God on Saturday (February 3rd) in Sunrise, Florida, and the set featured a welcome surprise for diehard fans.

The reunited metal legends — featuring classic members Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown alongside Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante — performed a 14-song career-spanning set. The unexpected highlight came when Pantera revisited the dark, seven-minute masterpiece “Floods,” the first performance of the standout track from The Great Southern Trendkill since 2001. A fan favorite, “Floods” is one of the group’s more artful and doomier moments, warranting comparisons to one of Philip Anselmo’s other projects, Down.

The rest of the evening saw Pantera performing a set similar to those they performed last year during their initial reunion run. The rousing Vulgar Display of Power track “A New Level” kicked off the setlist — “Floods” came near the middle — and the band...
