A dystopian action series that aired on AMC made by the creators of Wednesday is leaving its most prominent streaming home later this month. There are many TV series that aired on AMC that owe their success to streaming. This includes Breaking Bad, whose Netflix popularity helped it become regarded as one of the greatest crime TV shows ever made.
However, AMC's lineup didn't just consist of realistic dramas. For example, The Walking Dead is available in its entirety on Netflix as well, allowing viewers to watch the show right up through The Walking Dead series finale. Other popular series include Mad Men and Interview with the Vampire. But one underrated show will soon leave a prominent streamer.

Steven Yeun was originally cast as Bob/Sentry in Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts* before being forced to drop out due to a scheduling conflict, but it sounds like the Invincible and The Walking Dead actor may get another chance to leave his mark on the MCU.
Scooper Mttsh recently reported that Yeun was "interested" in a role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and has now followed up by claiming that he is "being eyed" for an undisclosed part. If he actually enters talks, expect the trades to confirm soon.
We don't have any details on the character Yeun is said to be in the mix for, but there's speculation that it could be Mr. Negative.
Theories that Negative might make his big-screen debut in the movie first did the rounds after Marvel's Spider-Man actor Stephen Oyoung, who voices the character in the game, was asked if he knew anything about the...

Ke Huy Quan turns Jackie Chan in the action comedy Love Hurts, from producer David Leitch (John Wick), whose production company 87North also made Nobody and Violent Night. Admittedly, the film has its fair share of problems, but Quan’s likeability and some decent fight scenes paper over a lot of the flaws.
Recent Oscar-winner Quan plays mild-mannered estate agent Marvin Gable, who, just like mild-mannered Bob Odenkirk in Nobody, turns out to have a secret violent past, in this case as a deadly killer, working for his gangster brother Knuckles (Daniel Wu). Marvin walked away from that life after Knuckles ordered him to kill Rose (recent Oscar-winner Ariana DeBose), the woman he loved, whereupon he faked her death,...

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is reportedly set to commence production this August, and we have a couple of new rumors relating to a key supporting character from the previous trilogy and one of (there are said to be at least two) the movie's villains.
Multiple sources have claimed that Zendaya will have a reduced role as Mj, and it sounds like Jacob Batalon's part will be even smaller. According to scooper Mttsh, Batalon's Ned Leeds "only makes a cameo" in the most recent draft of the script.
This wouldn't be a major surprise following the events of No Way Home, and Brand New Day is expected to introduce a new group of supporting players via Peter Parker's (Tom Holland) college classmates.
As for the villain, speculation began to mount that Mr. Negative might make his big-screen debut as the main antagonist following recent comments from Marvel's Spider-Man video game actor Stephen Oyoung.

Ke Huy Quan‘s leading debut with Love Hurts may not have blazed as hot as his comeback in Everything, Everywhere All at Once, but it’s certainly the type of throwback movie that is rarely seen nowadays. It’s a simple, fun, goofy little action comedy that’s brisk enough for an entertaining casual viewing and it doesn’t try to be anything more. Quan’s charm and his action prowess really come through and it’s cool to see him step up into the lead role.

Quick LinksWhat Is 'Love Hurts' About? Was the Box Office Return for 'Love Hurts' Really That Bad?Is 'Love Hurts' Worth Watching in Theaters?
Directed by Jonathan Eusebio in his directorial debut, Love Hurts recently arrived in theaters this month and unfortunately garnered some pretty awful reviews, at least from critics. Its Tomatometer currently sits at 18% on Rotten Tomatoes, while its Popcornmeter is at a much higher 61%, although that isn’t necessarily a great score either. Fans might have enjoyed the film a bit more than critics, but the movie’s box office returns don’t appear to reflect that. The film finished third during its debut weekend after Dog Man, the children’s movie that nabbed the number one spot again, and Heart Eyes, the hilarious slasher romance movie that premiered at number two.

Ke Huy Quan has had a long career in Hollywood, complete with an Oscar. However, his latest action-comedy marks his first role as a leading man, leaving audiences and the critics very divided.
Love Hurts stars Quan as an unlikely threat. He plays Marvin Gable, a realtor who seems to be just a regular person, but things get more complicated when he gets a letter from Rose, his former partner-in-crime whom he had left for dead. The unexpected meeting leads Marvin back into a world of chaos and danger. The movie hit theaters on Feb. 7, and has since received a very divisive Rotten Tomatoes score.

The new action movie from Oscar winner and Everything Everywhere All at Once star Ke Huy Quan has caused a huge rift between critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. The action outing Love Hurts, which hit theaters last week, finds the former Goonie taking the lead as a former hitman-turned-realtor who is dragged back into a life of violence when his former partner returns. But, while critics have mauled the movie, audiences have found a lot to enjoy in this tried-and-tested action tale.
When reviews first emerged, Love Hurts quickly landed a dreaded green splat on the review aggregator site alongside a brutal score of just 19%. In stark contrast, audiences have scored the actioner a much more respective 64% on the Popcornmeter, suggesting that Love Hurts is far more divisive than anyone could have anticipated. Some of the more savage reviews come courtesy of Robert Daniels of RogerEbert.com and Wendy Ide of The Observer.

Ke Huy Quan’s latest movie, Love Hurts, has become the latest example of a movie grappling with critical disappointment. Jonathan Eusebio’s directorial debut offers an action-packed ride but fails to deliver in most other aspects, drawing critical comparison to the infamous “Zack Snyder Ratings Curse”– a trend where movies despite strong fan followings, receive scathing critical reviews.

It's not always easy to get through Valentine's Day without thinking about past exes. It's even harder for Marvin Gable, who left a life of crime to become a realtor, when an old flame shows up, dragging him back into his past life. The film is called Love Hurts, and it blends comedy and romance with high-intensity action.
The film has a winding plot with lots of action scenes and characters, and it can be hard to follow at times. Hollywood icon Ke Huy Quan-led Love Hurts and Josh Ruben's Heart Eyesopen strong but still can't outpace Dog Man.
Per Variety, DreamWorks Animation's Dog Man is still dominating the box office in its second weekend in theaters, even in spite of the releases of both the action comedy Love Hurts starring Ke Huy Quan and director Josh Ruben's new slasher comedy, Heart Eyes. While Heart Eyes has already brought in over $3.7 million in preview screenings and Friday showings, that only barely outpaced Dog Man's second Friday earnings of $3.2 million. Preview screenings and Friday showings of Love Hurts brought in $2.6 million, with forecasts for the weekend putting it at around $6 million, whereas Dog Man is on track to pass earnings of over $54 million within its first ten days, giving it an $18 million projection for its second weekend in theaters.

Ke Huy Quan is undeniably one of Hollywood's most endearing and cherished performers, with the Academy Award-winner having first skyrocketed to superstardom as a child actor in the '80s with unforgettable roles in the beloved classics Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and The Goonies. After struggling to find worthy roles as an adult, Quan stepped back from the entertainment industry and took a self-imposed 19-year acting hiatus before making his epic return to the silver screen with 2021's Finding 'Ohana.
Quan wasted no time following up the family film, brilliantly portraying Waymond Wong in the absurdist dramedy Everything Everywhere All at Once the next year and helping it become both a critical and commercial triumph while also taking home an Oscar. DreamWorks Animation and Universal’s family film Dog Man isn’t having any trouble staying atop the box office in its second weekend with an expected $13.7 million from 3,886 theaters as new offerings Heart Eyes and Love Hurts battle for Super Bowl scraps.
That should put Dog Man‘s domestic total at a pleasing $54.1 million through Sunday (the pic cost a modest $40 million or so to produce).
Super Bowl weekend has always been a challenge for Hollywood studios since moviegoing plummets dramatically on the day of the big game (this year’s championship game sees last year’s victor the Kansas City Chiefs face off against the Philadelphia Eagles). Movies targeting younger females and genre titles appealing to younger audiences are a favorite go-to in terms of movies daring to open over Super Bowl weekend, and this year is no different, although it’s more weighted on the genre side this time out.

“Love Hurts” offers an offbeat narrative that pairs a Valentine’s motif with brisk, hard-hitting action. The film introduces Marvin Gable—a man whose former career in covert violence now sits incongruously behind a desk in a modest real estate office. His transformation (which might remind one of a jaded actor switching roles mid-performance) hints at the societal obsession with reinvention and the price paid for escaping a violent past.
Set against the unassuming streets of Milwaukee, the film uses the city’s mundane suburban charm as a foil for buried transgressions. Here, everyday life carries an undercurrent of guilt and secrecy, reminiscent of historical moments when communities masked deeper, unresolved conflicts beneath a veneer of normality.
Marvin’s dual existence—a peaceful property consultant by day and a man haunted by memories of deadly assignments by night—serves as a metaphor for the masks individuals wear to hide inner turmoil.

Hot off his Oscar win, Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once) stars as a successful realtor with a violent past in the action-comedy Love Hurts.
Marvin Gable (Ke Huy Quan) loves his job and enjoys nothing more than finding the perfect house for wannabe homeowners. His slogan: “I Want This Home for You.” It’s a typical day at the office, going over lists of possible buyers with his assistant and looking forward to the Valentine’s Day office party, when he spots a crimson envelope. The message inside reads, “Hiding isn’t living.”
He’s just excused himself by saying he doesn’t feel so well when a hitman who goes by The Raven (Mustafa Shakir) suddenly shows up. The Raven’s looking for Rose (Ariana DeBose), an ex-associate of Marvin’s, and a fight breaks out.

Plot: A realtor is pulled back into the life he left behind after his former partner-in-crime resurfaces with an ominous message. With his crime-lord brother also on his trail, he must confront his past and the history he never fully buried.
Review: If you’re a movie lover, then chances are you were rooting for Ke Huy Quan during last year’s Awards season. Hollywood loves a comeback story and there are few more deserving than Quan, who has countless memorable side roles and never got that leading man opportunity. But now it’s time for him to take center stage in his own Jackie Chan-style action movie. And how exactly does he fare? I’d say he comes out of it a lot better than the movie itself.
Love Hurts follows Marvin Gable, a realtor who’s life is turned upside down when his past comes back to haunt him.

Ke Huy Quan may have one of the best Cinderella stories in Hollywood history. After rising to fame in the mid-1980s as a child actor in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” and “The Goonies,” Quan decided to step away from acting in the early ’90s, feeling disillusioned by the lack of non-stereotypical roles for Asian Americans. For decades, he found steady work as an assistant director and fight coordinator, but secretly harbored dreams of eventually returning to working in front of the camera.
In 2022, Quan burst back onto the scene as Waymond Wang, the affable husband of Michelle Yeoh’s disgruntled laundromat owner Evelyn, in the A24 multiverse film “Everything Everywhere All at Once” — a performance that earned him, among many other accolades, the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Since then, Quan has played a key role opposite Tom Hiddleston in the second season of Marvel...

February has finally arrived, the month of romance with that big holiday for sweethearts almost “smack dab” in the middle. And naturally, the Hollywood studios are certainly ready to cater to the big occasion, perhaps making a trip to the cinema a fitting finale to an evening of bubbly, flowers, and swanky dinners. Now this year they’re not content to merely release a “swoony” romance or even a riotous “rom-com”. No, moviemakers are mixing things up with the two big releases this weekend. One adds elements of horror flicks and thrillers in Heart Eyes. In another section of the multiplex is this “high-concept hybrid” which sprinkles in some “mushy stuff’ with a a fast and frenetic action crime thriller. And with all the roundhouse kicks and furious fists, it’s clear, and not an understatement, that Love Hurts.

Chicago – Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan positions himself as a worthy successor to Jackie Chan in the likable if featherweight action film “Love Hurts.” Quan stars as a former underworld enforcer who leaves his old life behind to become a realtor in Milwaukee. All is going well until his old partner in crime Rose (Ariana DeBose) resurfaces, with some contract killers on her tail.
That plot which involves Quan’s crime lord brother Knuckles (Daniel Wu), and some stolen cash, which is really just an excuse to move things along to the next fight scene. Since this is a Valentine’s day movie, in addition to an ass kicking scenario, one of the assassins sent to hunt down Rose is also a poet named The Raven (Mustafa Shakir).

It’s not often Hollywood releases a classic romance in time for Valentine’s Day. This isn’t one of those moments — sorry, “Love Hurts,” I didn’t mean to get your hopes up — but it’s interesting to note how rarely the classic love stories actually get released in time for the busiest date night of the year. Imagine if most of the great Christmas movies premiered in April, and in December all we had was disposable pap like “Red One” and “Christmas With the Kranks.”
Of late, some of that pabulum has come in the form of films like “Argylle” and “Shotgun Wedding,” which combine the romantic-comedy and action genres in a desperate attempt to become a couple’s last-minute compromise. One of you wants to see a romance, one of you wants to see an action movie — let’s watch superficial people superficially flirt with each other...

Ke Huy Quan may have been in the entertainment industry for over 40 years since making his memorable debut as a child actor in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and The Goonies in the following year. His acting career didn’t take off as expected, leading him to shift into working behind the scenes, notably as a stunt choreographer in X-Men and The One.
Then along came the eventual Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All at Once, which marked his significant return to acting, and the rest, as they say, is history. Fortune certainly favors the bold, for such persons as Ke Huy Quan, whose acting comeback finally granted him with a rare leading role in Love Hurts.

Valentine’s Day used to be an occasion for studios to deliver romantic comedies, but that genre, even with the success of last year’s Anyone But You, still seems relegated to streamers, if at all. Instead for the holiday of love this year studios are seeing red — not for Valentines but rather blood. Sony has a gross horror item called Heart Eyes in which as the red-band trailer shows sees one main character done in with a knife thrust into eye in grisly fashion. In Universal’s offering Love Hurts, we see another supporting character eliminated with the exact same graphic demise. Date Night for February 14 this year is turning into Hate Night.
Now a starring vehicle for recent Supporting Oscar winners Key Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), the appropriately titled Love Hurts has been a action script gathering dust for more than two decades.

Love Hurts cements Ke Huy Quan's leading man status in a hilarious action-comedy tailor-made for the Oscar winner's affable charm. He reluctantly beats wisecracking, poetry-spouting, and knife-throwing baddies to bloody pulps while saving the problematic girl of his dreams on Valentine's Day, all while being Milwaukee's top residential real estate agent. A fun supporting ensemble fuels the fist and laugh barrage when the plot runs thin. Sparks don't exactly fly between Quan and co-star Ariana DeBose, but their lack of romantic chemistry is offset by other surprising developments.
Marvin Gable (Quan) cheerily bakes a batch of heart-shaped cookies. He straps on his bike helmet before cycling to a nearby suburb to show his latest house. Marvin isn't happy that someone's defacing his many advertisements on benches and buses around the city. He's convinced the culprit is his top competitor (Drew Scott), who's also showing a house nearby.

Ke Huy Quan’s Oscar win for “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” as many awards narratives do, made for an unparalleled joyous celebration of a talent done dirty by an industry that had been a part of his life for decades. A minor fixture of the 1980s before he’d even hit puberty, the roles became scant into adulthood, sending Quan into a behind-the-scenes role as a stunt choreographer until Daniels picked him out for the role of a lifetime. But we already heard all of this ad nauseam the last time Quan was rightfully in the spotlight; now, just under two years after winning that Oscar, it’s time to see how all that rightful celebration has been channeled towards the exact opportunities that Quan had been unfairly lacking before his return to the frontlines.

This author is old enough to remember a very particular period of cinema history that Jonathan Eusebio's new crime-comedy/not-quite-a-romance "Love Hurts" appears to be aping. In the wake of Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction," way back in 1994, numerous movies began to appear to feature flippant, violent characters, their mouths full of pop culture references, usually becoming embroiled with byzantine organized crime plots, brutal assassinations, or other acts of bone-crunching mayhem. These films ratcheted up the bloodshed, but kept characters whimsical. The genre's stars were too cool to be terrified by gun battles, and would murder with impunity, only to return to a conversation about movies, fast food, or some sort of personal quirk. Quirkiness was the guiding ethos of the era.
Some were comedic, others downbeat, but all belonged to the Post-Pulp era. "Goodbye Lover," "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels," "2 Days in the Valley," "Truth or Consequences, Nm,...

Ke Huy Quan’s first live-action film since his Oscar win recycles its predecessor’s hit formula into a gloatingly gory mob romcom co-starring Ariana DeBose
In his first live-action film appearance since winning an Oscar for Everything Everywhere All at Once, comeback kid Ke Huy Quan has chosen a movie that recycles the earlier one’s hit formula. Martial arts action plays out incongruously in quotidian locations; life lessons are combined with close-quarter combat. One difference is Love Hurts’s gloating reliance on gore: a hand is impaled with a knife, a pen is buried in a man’s eyeball, teeth stick to the duct tape ripped from a hostage’s mouth. It all rather puts the “ick” in karate kick.

The last three years have truly been a blessing for Ke Huy Quan. After taking an extended acting hiatus for nearly two decades, the former Gooniesand Indiana Jones star came crashing back into moviegoers' lives with a joyful bang, courtesy of his Oscar-winning performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once. That movie reminded everyone that Quan could be charming, unexpectedly dramatic, and, most notably, a kickass fighter when the situation called for one. Love Hurts, his latest film, gives Quan the chance to do all three with a title he's yet to officially attain in Hollywood: lead actor.

You can’t discount the sheer amount of good will that Ke Huy Quan generated when Everything Everywhere All at Once turned him into the Official Comeback Kid of 2022. The narrative read like a true Hollywood success story, even if it was Hollywood that sidelined him in the first place: Former child star turns for-hire stunt coordinator turns scene-stealing ensemble player turns well-deserved Oscar winner. His mix of sunniness and serious screen-fighting chops — has anyone ever wielded a fanny pack with such grace and deadly force? — made him an ideal everyguy action hero.

The poster for Love Hurts shows a menacing-looking Ke Huy Quan staring directly into the camera, wearing a cute, heart-emblazoned sweater as Valentine’s Day candies swirl around him. It’s a perfect encapsulation of the dichotomies of this new effort from 87North, the production company that specializes in action films featuring such unlikely stars as Bob Odenkirk (Nobody) and David Harbour (playing a kickass Santa Claus in Violent Night).
Unfortunately, the company doesn’t fare as well with the Oscar-winning actor from Everything Everywhere All at Once. For all his impressive fighting skills, Quan simply doesn’t look very tough, even when outfitted with slicked-back hair and a mustache in the flashbacks. Lovable, yes; a badass, no.

Ouch.
Few recent Hollywood success stories have felt as genuinely heart-warming as “The Goonies” and “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” star Ke Huy Quan’s heralded return to acting in 2023’s Best Picture winner “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” Quan’s eventual awards run was the stuff of dreams: Giddy reunions with Harrison Ford, incredible stories about his multi-faceted career, beaming appearances at all the big events, all topped off with his very own Best Supporting Actor win at the Oscars. Even better? The role he won for, as the soulful, striving Waymond Wang was a good one, a worthy one, a complex one.
So that Quan would become a hot commodity again was both totally correct and completely expected. Who wouldn’t want to spend more time with this star? And while the actor has enjoyed consistent work since his big win, Jonathan Eusebio’s “Love Hurts...

The title of John Wick and Chad Stahelski disciple Jonathan Eusebio’s action rom-com Love Hurts feels like a misnomer, or maybe a red herring. Love is certainly an aspect of the patchy screenplay. For one, the wounds inflicted upon Ke Huy Quan’s apparently happy-go-lucky real estate agent Marvin by the purringly capricious lawyer on the run and object of affection in Ariana DeBose’s Rose catalyze the plot into motion. But the film is perhaps most engaging when it, inadvertently or otherwise, parses Quan’s newfound success since winning an Academy Award for Everything Everywhere All at Once as a kind of meta-text.
The meta-movie ingredients of Love Hurts are unmistakable. Marvin is running away from his past. He lives a double life. He’s ultra-protective of the real-estate award that he’s given toward the start of the film. And the finale takes place in a video...

The studio has been responsible for some of the best action movies of the last decade, namely the John Wick franchise. And in those movies that aren’t quite to that level, you can always count on a handful of signature fight or stunt sequences (Atomic Blonde and its stairwell fight come to mind).

A mild-mannered Milwaukee realtor finds himself in the middle of a drug war in Love Hurts, an action comedy starring Ke Huy Quan, Ariana deBose, and Daniel Wu. Last weekend, Dog Man easily topped the box office, with the Captain Underpants spin-off outperforming all expectations – including our own. The Universal/Dreamworks animated film made a solid $36 million in the beginning of February, paving the way for a long run at the box office, with not too much in the way of competition for family audiences coming out until Captain America: Brave New World, which comes out on the President’s Day holiday weekend.
Variety reports that Dog Man is estimated to win the weekend again with a prediction of $19 million to $22 million. Although it will see a bit of competition this time around, the new releases are not looking to be much of a match. One of the releases is the Ke Huy Quan action comedy Love Hurts. The film sees Quan leading a movie for the first time and Quan brings the martial arts action again courtesy of David Leitch’s 87North.
