One of the great things about a time travel show is that Doctor Who can jump around in time and space. “Lucky Day” does this better than most, allowing multiple companions and versions of the Doctor to appear throughout the episode. While Ncuti Gatwa does not get the spotlight this time out, Millie Gibson returns to give an excellent performance as Ruby Sunday. More time with Ruby is great news, and “Lucky Day” continues to touch on themes of hatred and disinformation from the first few episodes.

The actor made his debut in the final 60th anniversary special through the revolutionary, never-before-glimpsed Bigeneration process, before leading his first full story in the 2023 seasonal special "The Church on Ruby Road." Gatwa's Doctor met companion Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) in the episode before traveling alongside her across season 14. They will be joined by Varada Sethu's new companion Belinda in Doctor Who season 15.

Despite the silence from various Doctor Who creatives about season 16's renewal, Gatwa has reportedly confirmed it is in development on The Graham Norton Show, as reported by RadioTimes. He said:
