Did you know

Edit
  • Trivia
He got his start in the movie business when he became the chauffeur for producer Hal Roach. He convinced Roach to let him have a job as a prop man in his comedies, and he soon worked his way up to assistant director, eventually making his debut as a director in RKO Pictures' short-subject department.
  • Quotes
[on directing Lou Costello] Actually, it's a simple matter of using child psychology on Lou. If you try to force him to do it your way, he loses his spontaneity. If he has to stick to the letter of the script, he becomes mechanical. That's why it's necessary to keep a very loose rein on him so that the picture will benefit from the added laughs Lou contributes on the spur of the moment.
