The union publicists who worked on behalf of the publicity campaigns for Sony’s Spider-Man: No Way Home and Apple’s Ted Lasso took home top honors today at the 59th annual International Cinematographers Guild’s Publicists Awards. See the full winners list below.

The Les Mason Award, the highest honor the Publicists can bestow on one of its own members, resulted in a tie between unit publicist Sheryl Main and David Waldman, EVP Domestic Publicity at Paramount Pictures.

The awards luncheon, held at the Beverly Hilton, also saw legendary director Frances Ford Coppola accept the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The 2021-22 awards season calendar has another new entry today. The International Cinematographers Guild, IATSE Local 600, has set Friday, March 25, for its 59th annual Icg Publicists Awards Luncheon at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

The trophies traditionally are handed out on the Friday before the Oscars.

The group’s TV nominations will be announced on Tuesday, November 16, and the film nominees will be revealed on January 24. See the full timeline below, with the guild noting that its dates might change.

The publicity teams and campaigns behind Warner Bros’ breakout and groundbreaking romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians and CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert led by CBS TV Studios’ Ryan Aguirre won the marquee Maxwell Weinberg Publicist Showmanship of the Year awards for film and TV at the Icg Publicists Guild Awards on Friday.

The 56th annual luncheon celebrates the year’s best publicity campaigns. This year, it also bestowed its Lifetime Achievement Award to Jamie Lee Curtis, and handed out its Motion Picture and TV Showman of the Year honors to Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu and super-producer Greg Berlanti, respectively.

The ceremony at the Beverly Hilton also gave the Los Angeles Times‘ Justin Chang the Press Award, while Jami Philbrick of China’s Mtime, took the International Media Award.

Julie Andrews and Jodie Foster dedicated the 2012 Icg Publicist Directory to Arlene Ludwig, West Coast Director of Publicity, Motion Pictures, in celebration of her 50th anniversary at The Walt Disney Studios. The dedication struck an emotional chord since Ludwig is recovering from a serious fall that left her partially paralyzed.

In another touching moment, Icg President Steven Poster presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Carol Burnett. “It is my pleasure to present this award to someone I dearly admire and who continues to make me laugh to this day,” he said.
