Currie pilots Atomic's 'Space'
Andrew Currie has the right stuff to direct Space Invader, a Fox Atomic comedy that will star Will Arnett. Arnett also will produce the film along with Peter Principato and Paul Young.
Space centers on Doug Huggins, the son of a NASA legend, who is terrified of flying. When Huggins learns that his girlfriend, a rising aeronautic star, has been chosen to fly to the International Space Station with Stamp, a spaceman who is God's gift to space travel, he must overcome his fears and travel to space to win her back. Mike Lisbe and Nate Reger wrote the script.
Robbie Brenner and John Davis are exec producing.
Canadian helmer Currie is best known for writing and directing the zombie comedy Fido, which received strong notices at last year's Toronto International Film Festival, where Currie found himself being courted by several agencies before finally shacking up with ICM. The movie also screened in January at the Sundance Film Festival and is now in limited release.
