Dexter: Resurrection, which premiered last month on Paramount+ with Showtime in the U.S. and on Amazon Prime Video in India, is already being hailed as one of the best seasons in the franchise’s history. Boasting a stellar 94% Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score and a rock-solid 9.2/10 IMDb rating, anticipation is sky-high for the upcoming seventh episode, Course Correction. This follows the jaw-dropping Episode 6 twist that the Gemini Killer, aka Gareth, was actually one of a pair of twin serial killers, with Dexter having already killed one of them.
Throughout the season, viewers have met several chilling killers, thanks in part to Leon Prater’s (Peter Dinklage) obsession with them. But one name that’s the most mysterious of them all is the New York Ripper. Known for brutally mutilating victims, the unidentified killer has only been referenced through news reports, police chatter,...

Following shocking conclusion to episode four, Dexter: Resurrection is really starting to up the ante as our main man Dexter finds himself in a new environment with deadly new acquaintances that have a similar bloodlust, although without his moral code, so it's probably only a matter of time before the Bay Harbor Butcher will need to strike again.
Having screened the first few episodes prior to its series launch, I was granted an exclusive opportunity to sit down with the man himself, Michael C. Hall, to talk about the exciting new season and how he's finally able to give us a version of Dexter that's embracing his code while also testing his own limits in new ways.
We get into where Dexter’s head is at right now, how the Dark Passenger still influences him, and why this chapter of his story feels like both a fresh start and a...

Episode 4 of Dexter: Resurrection hit hard, especially when it comes to the father-son dynamic at the heart of this series. Harrison’s trying to find his footing in the aftermath of everything, while Harry Morgan’s voice (and presence) is as sharp as ever—pushing Dexter in all the right and wrong ways.
I sat down with Jack Alcott and James Remar to talk about stepping back into these iconic roles. We got into Harrison’s evolution, Harry’s ongoing influence, and what it’s like revisiting characters that still mean so much to longtime fans of the show.

Dexter: Resurrection is doing a great job of raising the stakes each week, and Episode 4 made it clear that Angel Batista is inching closer to the truth. Seeing Batista back on screen brings that old Miami Metro energy, while Blessing (played by Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine) adds a whole new dynamic we haven’t really seen before.

Rohan: David, Batista clearly has some unfinished business with Dexter. How has his perspective changed since essentially Season 8? Batista has been chasing answers for a long time. What does it mean for him to finally be getting close to the truth?

One original star confirms they will not be returning for Dexter: Resurrection. The latest sequel in the Dexter franchise, Dexter: Resurrection's story follows Michael C. Hall as his character returns from the dead to follow his son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), to New York City.
So far, Dexter: Resurrection has been a success. ScreenRant's Greg MacArthur said in his Dexter: Resurrection review that the series delivers "exactly what the franchise needed and what fans have been dying to see." The series feels like a return to form with Dexter on the hunt in a metropolitan area, while also expanding on his character and the lore.
After the original Dexter had a poorly received series finale, and the finale to the single-season sequel Dexter: New Blood proved divisive, Resurrection has the chance to tell new, engaging stories. Some of that is delivering fan-service moments, but one actor won't make an appearance.

Kareem Rahma is best known for his viral “Subway Takes” videos, but the “Poker Face” actor is now fictionalizing his MetroCard adventures for the big screen with indie “Or Something.” Rahma co-writes and co-stars alongside fellow writer/actor Mary Neely in the feature, which is billed as a contemporary take on “Before Sunrise.”
The official synopsis for “Or Something” reads: “Two strangers, Olivia (Neely) and Amir (Rahma), show up at the same Brooklyn apartment to collect cash they’re both owed. Forced to spend the day together on a journey through New York City, the pair reveal intimate details about their lives. The duo are stuck together on the subway, eating lunch, walking through Central Park, and bonding over disagreements about sex, dating, religion, and death. One of them also happens to be hiding a harrowing secret…” David Zayas co-stars.
Jeffrey Scotti Schroeder makes his directorial debut with the film; Pete Ohs edits the indie.

Dexter: Resurrection on Paramount+ is making waves and rightly so. But the show’s narrative so far spotlights one glaring omission from Dexter: New Blood: Harrison’s half-siblings, Cody and Astor. The two characters, who were a part of the original series’ main cast, remain unmentioned, even in the second reboot of the franchise.
While we have only gotten to Dexter: Resurrection Episode 3 so far, the blatant removal of these characters from the show, or rather, Harrison and Dexter Morgan’s memory, is not sitting right with longtime fans of the franchise. While the two were not mentioned in New Blood (via Screen Rant), fans held high hopes for their appearance in the most recent reboot. Let’s dive into why this omission stings viewers who have been with the franchise since its early days.

Dexter: Resurrection brings back Michael C. Hall and other stars from the original series, but there wasn't room for everyone to return. That's left at least one Dexter alum feeling bummed about getting left out.
In the classic Dexter, Julie Benz co-starred as Rita, Dexter Morgan's girlfriend (and later wife). After starring in the first four seasons, Benz had her character shockingly killed off, though she later popped back up for a flashback sequence. Dexter is also known to have visions of other deceased characters, so it was certainly possible for Rita to make an appearance somehow in Resurrection. However, per Bingetown TV, Benz said she is not going to appear in the new show.

FX’s The Bear is easily one of the most beautiful, emotionally honest shows on television right now. And as much as Carmy Berzatto’s arc is compelling, it’s not the only one that hits hard. The most surprising, and arguably most satisfying, redemption arc belongs to Richie, played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach. His journey is so unexpectedly moving that even one of the highest-rated episodes of the series revolves entirely around him.
The Bear has come a long way since its chaotic first season. What started as a pressure-cooker type dysfunctional Chicago sandwich shop has transformed into a deeply layered story about healing, ambition, and personal growth. While Carmy remains the central figure, the series has evolved into a character-driven masterpiece where nearly every person in the kitchen gets their moment to shine.

This post contains spoilers from Dexter: Resurrection season 1 episode 3 from this point forward.
After a two-episode premiere that picked up where we left off and introduced the new stakes, this week’s episode feels more like a return to form for what we’ve come to expect from the series. This installment, “Backseat Driver,” finds both Dexter (Michael C. Hall) and Harrison (Jack Alcott) continuing along their path. Let’s dive into those paths!
Catching the Dark Passenger
While Dexter originally arrived in New York City to watch over and even aide Harrison, they’ve yet to make contact. Instead, he got sidetracked by his own mission to stop a killer known as the Dark Passenger, who is preying upon ride share drivers. Dexter is sparked to action not only by his calling, but his frustration that a killer has snatched his name.
That led to him taking a job as a ride share driver.

“Talk about a killer debut,” nine out of 10 news stories on this topic will begin.
The Dexter: Resurrection premiere drew 3.1 million global cross-platform viewers in its first three days, representing a 46% larger audience than what the Dexter: Original Sin prequel series opened to last December.
The return of grown-up Dexter also delivered the most-streamed premiere in Showtime history, putting up 44% bigger numbers than Original Sin, and marking a 76% improvement on Dexter: New Blood (circa November 2021).
TVLine readers gave the premiere an average grade of “A”; get Michael C. Hall’s take on the surprise cameos and see what Jack Alcott (who plays Harrison) said about the season’s gruesome first kill.
“Dexter: Resurrection delivered an electrifying performance that not only rekindled a fiercely devoted fanbase but also captivated a new generation of viewers — shattering records with Showtime’s most-streamed premiere ever,” Chris McCarthy, President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment, said in a statement. “This triumph underscores the lasting impact of this iconic franchise, brought to life by Michael C. Hall’s unparalleled portrayal and [showrunner] Clyde Phillips’ visionary creative leadership.”
A continuation of New Blood, Resurrection takes place weeks after Dexter Morgan (played by Hall) takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Alcott) gone without a trace. Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City determined to find him and make things right.
Closure, though, won’t come easy. “When Miami Metro’s Angel Batista (David Zayas) arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is catching up to him fast,” the series synopsis reads. “As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined – and that the only way out is together.”
Dexter: Resurrection also stars Uma Thurman as Charley, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Detective Melvin Oliva, Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera, James Remar as Dexter’s father Harry, and Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater. Guest stars include Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet and David Dastmalchian, as Lowell, Mia, Al and Gareth.

For a television franchise as influential as Dexter, nothing short of absolute domination on the viewership charts can be considered successful. The franchise returned recently with a new sequel series, titled Dexter: Resurrection. Set in the aftermath of the events shown in Dexter: New Blood, the series finds everybody's favorite serial killer, played by the returning Michael C. Hall, mentoring his now-grown son Harrison in the ways of "the Code," while evading the suspicions of his old buddy, Angel Batista. Although Resurrectiondebuted to positive reviews and impressive ratings, the show seems to have taken a rather unexpected tumble.

Emmy nominations are coming! It’s that time of year again, where the best talent in television is (hopefully) rewarded for all that hard work and excellence. Come Tuesday, the verdict will be in as the noms for the 77th Primetime Emmys are announced. But some of television’s best and brightest will definitely not be on the docket. Read on to find out why.
Of course, not everyone gets to take home the gold, and indeed, not everyone gets as far as a nomination, but some are left out of contention for reasons that have nothing to do with audience or critical appreciation or Television Academy voter preferences.
For example, last year, due to strike-affected delays and production timing, popular shows like The Bear Season 3, both parts of Bridgerton Season 3, House of the Dragon and The Boys were not eligible for nominations.

When Dexter originally ended in 2013, I remember thinking: What the hell did I just watch?
Dexter Season 8 Episode 12 wasn’t just bad — it became a blueprint for how not to end a beloved series.
The show that once oozed brilliance devolved into nonsense, abandoning all logic as it limped across the finish line.
(Paramount+/Screenshot)
Then came Dexter: New Blood in 2021, a revival that I couldn’t bring myself to care about. Its goal was obvious: fix what went wrong and open the door for franchise potential.
And while it was better — and it was — it still felt frustrating, illogical, and emotionally empty at times.
(Zach Dilgard/Paramount+ with Showtime)
It ended with Harrison killing his father and hitting the road. Poetic? Maybe. Satisfying? Not really.
It was another half-baked farewell, made even more irritating by Showtime’s clear intention to keep the franchise alive no matter what.

It would seem like the "dark passenger" missed the boat. The latest revival of the landmark series Dexter, Dexter: Resurrection, debuted recently to mostly positive reviews. It's the third time that the series has been brought back after its original run, which ended with an infamously lackluster finale in 2013. Dexter: Resurrectionhad a decent start on Paramount+, but it has already surrendered its crown to the wildly popular crime drama MobLand. Headlined by Tom Hardy and executive produced by Guy Ritchie, MobLand concluded its debut season weeks ago, but it remains a force to be reckoned with on the Paramount+ charts.

Dexter: Resurrection on Paramount+ premiered 3 days ago and has already become the hot topic of town. The new reboot, which is a sequel to Dexter: New Blood, has opened up an imperative question: Why wasn’t Dexter arrested? As Dexter lies comatose in a hospital and subsequently begins his physical therapy after waking up, viewers are left wondering how he escaped accountability for the events of New Blood.
While Dexter: Resurrection Episode 1 does give us an explanation of why he wasn’t arrested, some find it a sorry excuse on the writers’ part to jump ahead of New Blood’s events and start a new storyline. We’ll leave it up to you to decide whether the explanation is plausible or not while we dive into possible alternate directions the story could go.

Dexter: Resurrection is the long-awaited sequel that continues the story of Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), after his presumed death. It is the latest release in a franchise that includes Dexter, Dexter: New Blood, and Dexter: Original Sin. Where New Blood ended with Dexter seemingly dying,Resurrection brought the good-hearted killer back to life.
The show premiered on Paramount+ on July 11 and reintroduced Hall, alongside other major Dexter stars, including Jack Alcott (Harrison Morgan), James Remar (Harry Morgan), David Zayas (Angel Batista), and more. Other returning characters are also likely to appear as the season continues on.
Resurrection's success has been a boon for Paramount+ in more ways than one. According to a report by FlixPatrol, the show is helping to reignite interest in the entire Dexter franchise. Shortly after Resurrection's premiere, the original Dexter rocketed back to prominence by taking the #6 spot on Paramount+'s charts.

NCIShas finally been knocked off the top of the streaming charts by the latest chapter in the Dexter saga.
Per Flix Patrol, the long-running procedural has officially been knocked out of the top three spots on the top TV shows chart for Paramount+ thanks to the two-episode premiere of Dexter: Resurrection. Currently, NCIS stands in the number four spot, while Dexter: Resurrection holds firm onto the number three spot just behind The Chi and Criminal Minds in second and first place, respectively.
While NCIS has certainly slowed down this summer, the long-running franchise doesn't show any signs of actually stopping anytime soon. Just like Slim Shady, Dexter Morgan's back (back again).
If you're keeping track at home, Dexter: Resurrection is the fourth series about the vigilante serial killer (portrayed by Emmy nominee Michael C. Hall). It's the sequel to the sequel of the original Emmy-winning drama (the fourth series in the popular franchise is a prequel). While we cannot say how Dexter survived a seemingly fatal gunshot wound in 2021's Dexter: New Blood, we're willing to bet the latest series — the first two episodes of which are now streaming on Paramount+ (the show airs Sunday at 8 p.m. Et/Pt on Showtime) — will answer this very question.
On Resurrection, the show's setting is moved to New York, and while there...

Michael C. Hall’s vigilante blood-spatter analyst is back on the job as “Dexter: Resurrection” premiered Friday on Paramount+ with a two-episode launch, ahead of a linear debut on Showtime this Sunday at 8 p.m. Et/Pt. The new season begins less than three years after Dexter: New Blood appeared to end the character’s story and two decades after the original series first aired, underscoring the franchise’s staying power.
Hall acknowledged that the 2013 finale left many viewers dissatisfied, calling it “frustrating” and admitting it “could have been better executed,” while expressing confidence that the current creative team has “more story to tell.” He hinted that the revival may extend beyond a single season, noting that the writers “didn’t embark on this imagining it as a one-off.”

Spoiler Alert: The following reveals major plot points for the Dexter: Resurrection series premiere
Michael C. Hall is back as Dexter Morgan in Showtime’s Dexter: Resurrection, having cheated death again and ready to slay more serial killer butt. The first two episodes are available to stream now.
The new spinoff follows the events of Dexter: New Blood, which ended with Dexter’s son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), shooting his very first serial killer, his dad. Dexter decided it was time he be taken out, having reemerged with his dark passenger, unable to release the monster inside. It’s part of the code, after all.
In the first moments of Dexter: Original Sin, it’s revealed that the titular killer had survived the attempt on his life and had been rushed to the hospital. The prequel spinoff, starring Patrick Gibson as young Dexter, follows the serial killer in training as...

Returning Dexter: Resurrectionstars break down the franchise's most hotly-anticipated confrontation.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, stars Michael C. Hall and David Zayas, who have portrayed Dexter Morgan and Angel Batista since the original series premiered back in 2006, opened up about the long-overdue confrontation between their respective characters in the opening episodes of Dexter: Resurrection. "That scene is one of my favorite scenes I’ve ever gotten to play in the show," Hall said. "It's a scene you could only enjoy if you've been doing something for as long as we’ve been doing it. We have real memories between us [as actors]."
The scene in question sees Zayas' Batista finally reunited with Hall's Dexter after tracking him down from Miami to New York City, certain that his old colleague was always a brazen serial killer operating in plain sight. "It's really bittersweet for him to reconnect with someone who was once his friend and colleague,...

Dexter: Resurrectionstar Jack Alcott explains his take on Harrison's first kill.
Speaking toTVLine, Alcott opened up about the mentality behind his Harrison Morgan after carrying out his first kill during the series' two-episode premiere. After brutally beating a would-be rapist to death with a toilet tank lid, Harrison has to clean up his mess, which he does in eerily familiar fashion after learning the tricks of the trade from his serial killer father. "Harrison is a very impulsive character," Alcott noted, "and Dexter, ironically, while driven by a really strong impulse, is very disciplined on account of this guy."
"I think that that is a real gift that Harrison gets from Dexter," Alcott continued before going on to explain how Harrison's baser impulses have been tempered by his time spent alongside his father, famously portrayed by longtime Dexter franchise star Michael C. Hall. "Being a really impulsive, reactive...

Note: The first episode of "Dexter: Resurrection" is now streaming on Paramount+ Premium, and debuts on Showtime at 8pm Et this Sunday night. This post contains spoilers for the premiere episode.
Showtime was adamant about Michael C. Hall's eponymous serial killer staying alive in the "Dexter" finale, and now we know why. The character's popularity among viewers means that he can always be brought back for more slaughter-filled adventures, and it was only a matter of time until the Bay Harbor Butcher struck again. The revival series, "Dexter: New Blood," caught up with Dexter Morgan years after faking his own death, revealing that he moved from Miami to a small town, where he lived under a fake alias. It was only a matter of time until he got into trouble again, though, and the series ended with his son shooting him in the chest and leaving him for dead.
