Kino Lorber has debuted a new official Us trailer for a French-Italian drama titled Pasolini, which actually first premiered back in 2014 and is just finally getting a Us release. This "kaleidoscopic look at the last day of Italian filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini" first showed at the Venice Film Festival in 2014, and then opened throughout Europe in 2014 and 2015. After five years of waiting, it's finally getting a small theatrical release this May. Directed by filmmaker Abel Ferrara, Pasolini stars Willem Dafoe as Pier Paolo Pasolini, along with Ninetto Davoli, Riccardo Scamarcio, Valerio Mastandrea, Roberto Zibetti, Andrea Bosca, and Damiano Tamilia. Reading a review of the latest direct-to-dvd found footage movie is about as exciting as watching one, as many of these features contain the same inherent flaws and weaknesses. So, to buck the trend, I'm starting my review of Back from Hell on a positive note.

The acting was pretty good and the entire cast was composed of adults, not a bunch of CW tween show "stars." And one character does follow the horror handbook and makes sure a supernatural being won't follow them.

But that's all I have. Back from Hell has a few interesting twists that might have differentiated it from the glut of found footage possession movies flooding the home market. But the script leaves too much unresolved and focuses too heavily on having the cast wander through dark locations as a means to generate suspense.

Here's the thing. Don't go into the country or the woods with your friends. It's just not worth it, man. Bad stuff happens there. Just deal with the hustle and bustle of the big city. At least there you can only get killed in semi-normal ways like muggings or getting hit by a vehicle.
