Exclusive: Italian director and producer Michela Scolari’s English-language fiction feature debut Sicilian Holiday has wrapped shooting and is now headed into post-production.

The film stars rising acting talents Lilly Englert and Francesco Leone as an actress and a sculptor who meet on a Southern Italian island.

Other cast members include Claudia Gerini, Rocco Ancarola, Ivo Romagnoli, Felix Maximillian, Tony Schiena, Fuschia Kate Sumner, Lee Levi, Nicoleta Nuca, Jerry Ying, and Marcia Sedoc.

The film marks Scolari’s first fiction feature after the award-winning documentary Paolo Rossi, The Heart of a Champion and the upcoming Romania-shot documentary The Jokers.

Scolari also takes producer credits with her company Filmin’ Italy, alongside its CEO and cast member Romagnoli; American producer Adam Leipzig under the banner of his Credential Media Venture, Attilio de Razza at Italian company Tramp Limited.

Following the death of actor-director-screenwriter Buck Henry on Wednesday, Fans, friends and admirers in the entertainment industry paid tribute to the co-creator of “Get Smart” and writer behind “The Graduate.”

“Buck Henry was hilarious and brilliant and made us laugh more times than we even know. I was lucky enough to be on a panel with him at SXSW and he was so funny. Abramorama has bought North American theatrical rights to Stanley Nelson’s documentary “Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool” and plans releases in August and September.

“The story of Miles Davis – who he was as a man and artist – has often been told as the tale of a drug-addled genius,” said Nelson. “You rarely see a portrait of a man that worked hard at honing his craft, a man who deeply studied all forms of music, from Baroque to classical Indian. An elegant man who could render ballads with such tenderness yet hold rage in his heart from the racism he faced throughout his life.”

The American Cancer Society will present actor, producer and philanthropist Patrick Dempsey with the “Impact Award” at the 34th annual California Spirit Food and Wine Benefit, set for August 18 at Sony Pictures in Culver City.

Dempsey founded The Dempsey Center in Lewiston, Maine in 2008 intending to give back to the community where he grew up, and where his mother Amanda first received treatment for ovarian cancer in 1997. Dempsey continues to support the fight against cancer in a variety of important ways.

Honorary chairs for Cal Spirit 34 are Sherry Lansing and Phil Rosenthal. Lansing is the former CEO of Paramount Pictures who was the first woman to head a Hollywood movie studio; prior to Paramount she was the president of production at 20th Century Fox. Lansing founded California Spirit in 1984 as her way to give back after her mother passed away from ovarian cancer. She has remained committed to the event throughout its 34-year history.

There have been multiple reports about when director Quentin Tarantino will start shooting his revenge Western The Hateful Eight, including a May report that revealed shooting will begin this November in Wyoming, and a story from earlier this month that indicated production will start in January. Today, The Denver Post reports that principal photography will begin on December 8 in southwestern Colorado.

The state of Colorado has put together a $5 million incentive for Quentin Tarantino to bring his project to the state, beating out neighboring states Utah and Wyoming. Colorado's Economic Development Commission approved the incentive package earlier this morning, with state film commissioner David Zuckerman confirming that The Hateful Eight will be shot entirely in Colorado. For those with long enough memories to recall the dispute, the talent agency sued Gumer on allegations he tortiously interfered with contracts with ex-clients including David Zuckerman (the original showrunner of Fox's Family Guy), R.J. Stewart (executive producer of Xena: Warrior Princess) and Denise Moss (supervising producer of Frasier). Nerdly had a moment to correspond with David Zuckerman, the mastermind behind the U.S adaptation of FX’s surprisingly sweet and often endearingly crass Wilfred. It ended it’s four season, forty-nine episode run on Wednesday with a touching, poignant tear-inducing hourlong episode. I watched it and felt immediately comfortable and happy with the ending. I was happy that the series ended precisely correct for what the writers had envisioned for the entirety of the run. There were moments that fulfilled everything that the show promised and left no strings lingering.

It ultimately ended as a sobering account of someone’s mental illness. There wasn’t some grand mytholgical ending where Wilfred was a mischevious god named Krungel or Matdamon. Nope. But it didn’t need that. It offered rational answers for everything and even gave us answers to why Wilfred looks the way he does, or who Bruce is.

A few thoughts on the series finale of "Wilfred" coming up just as soon as I pull a dove from behind your ear... I have to admit to losing touch with "Wilfred" for much of this final season, between the move to Fxx and a feeling that the show had largely outlived its usefulness. David Zuckerman has talked in the past about not wanting to let the show get swallowed up by the mystery of who or what Wilfred is, but most of what I saw of the last two seasons suggested that the show ultimately couldn't avoid that trap. And, as a result, it went from a darkly funny comedy with a minor mystery element to a very dark psychological drama that would occasionally pause for a joke about Wilfred's sex life or eating habits. In the first two episodes of its final season, Wilfred embraces its mythology head-on. It’s hard to say whether or not this will go down well with viewers, because I don’t even know who is watching Wilfred anymore and why. So, to say that there are fans who enjoy these kinds of mythological turns in the story and that there are fans who enjoy the straight-up comedic episodes and that these two groups of people are in opposition is only conjecture. My guess is that anyone who is still watching Wilfred (one of television’s absolute best half-hour experiences–incredibly dark, psychologically disturbing but ultimately aimed at some of the core ideas of what it is to be a human being...

I am both gladdened and saddened by FX’s decision to renew Wilfred for a fourth and final season. I’ve been reviewing the dark comedy since its pilot episode first aired in 2011 and have found oodles of enjoyment from its twisted storytelling, which focuses on Ryan (Elijah Wood) and the bizarre life lessons he learns from a dog who looks like an Australian man in a dog costume: the titular Wilfred (Jason Gann). The series has never been a heavy hitter in the ratings, but it’s one of the more well written – and often beautifully shot – sitcoms. It is for that reason that Wilfred deserves one more season.

Nothing is more disheartening than a series that isn’t allowed to reach its conclusion. When Wilfred’s third season began spiralling downwards in the ratings ­– the season averaged only 580,000 total viewers – I became concerned FX would cancel the series...

Fxx has ordered a fourth and final season of Wilfred, the surreal dark comedy starring Elijah Wood. According to TV Guide, Wilfred's original showrunner David Zuckerman, who had stepped down last season, will resume showrunning duties for these final ten episodes. Ratings for the show have dropped significantly since its debut, so the fact that the show is getting even one more season is a little surprising. Farewell, guy in a dog suit.

The show’s writer/producers Reed Agnew and Eli Jorné took over as co-showrunners in Season 3, which ended in September. Agnew and Jorné replaced former Wilfred boss David Zuckerman, who stayed with the dark comedy as an executive producer.

"Wilfred"'s fourth season will be its last. The Elijah Wood and Jason Gann-starring comedy will get one more season, and is being moved from FX to the network's new spinoff channel, Fxx.

Season 4 will see original showrunner David Zuckerman return to co-showrun the series with Season 3's heads, Redd Agnew and Eli Jorne. "Wilfred's" fourth season will be slightly reduced, as it's getting 10 episodes instead of its usual 13.

"Wilfred's" ratings had dropped considerably from Season 2 to Season 3, and there was some concern that the series wouldn't be renewed. Fortunately for fans of the dark comedy, "Wilfred" will be able to have its swan song and tie up all remaining loose ends following the Season 3 cliffhanger ending.

The ending to "Regrets," the finale of another stellar season of Wilfred, left a pretty bitter taste in my mouth.

This summer has delved into the mythology of Wilfred much more frequently than ever before. There was a stretch in the middle where three or four episode in a row were giving us new information about Ryan's issue, which of course led to viewers asking even more questions about what on earth was actually going on.

Sure, things slowed down on that end for a while over the last month, but when things ramped back up in a big way during the finale - Henry Newman finding out that Ryan talks to Wilfy, the letter addressed to Ryan with the "symbol" on it, etc. - it was easy to expect a big revelation as the half hour winded down.

I'll now reference the David Zuckerman quote once again, in which...

Ryan Newman's daddy issues continued into Christmas on "Confrontation," and with the entire family under one roof, there was plenty of time for laughs, singing - and some serious fighting.

At Comic-Con in July Wilfred Executive Producer David Zuckerman said "We have a pretty big reveal at the end of the season that answers a few questions, and raises many more."

With that in mind, it has felt like the last three episodes have had quite a different feel when thinking of them together. Never before has it seemed like Wilfred has been this serialized. Sure, there has still been a specific obstacle that Ryan has had to overcome during each installment, but they have all been connected more than any string of episodes before it.

If this trend continues until the finale, this back half of Wilfred Season 3 has the potential to be some of the most fascinating...

With former showrunner David Zuckerman penning his first script of Wilfred season 3, "Intuition" had the epic feel of a premiere or finale.  It makes sense because four of the six episodes Zuckerman had penned prior to this week's installment were the first or last installment of a season.

It was funny, for sure.  But it was the pacing, the structure and the way everything fell perfectly into place by the end that made "Intuition" such an enjoyable half hour of television.

Having Ryan state early on that he thought Wilfred was making the whole "muuuurrrdeeerrr" thing up to get something he wanted, allowing the character and the audience to then get lost in the adventure and then reveal to all of us that yes, of course, Wilfy was pulling one over on Ruh-ruh-ruh-Ry-sharona, was simply great story telling.

Zap2It had the chance to chat with the cast and producers of "Wilfred" at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, and they promised that some big revelations are yet to come in the ongoing Season 3.

"There's some really crazy stuff that happens this season," says Fiona Gubelmann, who portrays Ryan's (Elijah Wood) neighbor and Wilfred's (Jason Gann) owner, Jenna. "I didn't see any of it coming, and I think that our fans are going to be really excited, but also really shocked. My thorough enjoyment of "Delusion" gives me confidence that last week's disaster was just an aberration and not a sign of Wilfred trending downward without David Zuckerman at the helm this season.

Roommate Anne being away visiting her boyfriend - and not gone for good - does worry me, but let's cross that messy bridge when we come to it. For now, we can reflect on Jenna turning the big 3-0, and what that meant for our good friends Ryan and Wilfred.

The cast of "Wilfred" attended San Diego Comic-Con in full force Thursday (July 18), with stars Jason Gann, Fiona Gubelmann and Dorian Brown as well as executive producers David Zuckerman, Reed Agnew and Eli Jorné participlating in Thursday's "Wilfred" panel. The panel began with a full new episode from Season 3, titled "Stagnation." In the episode Ryan (Wood) discovers his roommate Anne (Kristen Schaal) wants to move out. Loathe to actually get a job, he agrees that Anne's bulldog can move in, upsetting his anthropomorphic dog Wilfred (Gann).

"You're stuck in a rut," Wilfred tells him. Keep in mind the "dog" had just been intimate with a hole in a fence, and in a later scene he urinates in the house in protest. But the bulldog is in heat, driving Wilfred wild with what he perceives as love,...

Wilfred is FX’s only comedy offering this summer, (With Louis C.K.’s Louie on hiatus after his HBO concert) and the meta-bending man-and-dog show has put the weight on its shoulder and is just as good as ever, with changes to each character and the mystery of Wilfred (Jason Gann) and Ryan’s (Eiljah Wood) relationship and how far it goes back comes into question. FX is bringing its usual suspects to San Diego Comic-Con this year. Returning fan-favorites "Wilfred," "Archer," "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and "Sons of Anarchy" will be having panels and booth signings throughout the four-day event.

Unlike most networks that only show teases and sizzle reels from their series' upcoming seasons, FX is going to be rolling out even bigger reveals. Both "Wilfred" and "It's Always Sunny" will premiere new episodes, while "Archer" and "Sons of Anarchy" are showing first-look clips and footage.

The mythology base of “Wilfred” is something that set it apart from any other comedy on FX, or on television for the most part. It’s a deep mythology that slowly started to crop up as the first season started to end and rolled straight into the second season. It’s a smart move that they’ve not given too much of the game away but give the viewer just enough morsels to keep you invested, and giving even more pathos and emotion to a show that could’ve stay within the realm of lazy scatological humor and pot jokes. Chicago – Changing showrunners often proves the kiss of death for comedies. If you watched the Dan Harmon-less fourth season of “Community,” NBC owes you an apology. And so hearing that “Wilfred” was going to tweak its behind-the-scenes staff by moving David Zuckerman from showrunner to exec producer and sliding writer/producers Reed Agnew & Eli Jorne into lead roles, there was reason for concern. Don’t worry. The show is actually better — smarter, funnier, and better-paced. I had issues with the first two seasons of “Wilfred,” the second of which was just released on Blu-ray and DVD, but the start of the third season is easily the most promising to date.

The third season of Wilfred is set to air on FX Thursday, June 20 at 10Pm and we’re starting to get our first look at Season 3. But while we savor our chance to see some of the first episodes in advance, we want to share with you some of the guest stars scheduled to appear this season and their roles on the show.

Returning this season is the main cast of Jason Gann (Wilfred), Elijah Wood (Ryan), Fiona Gubelmann (Jenna) and Dorian Brown (Kristen). Making their first appearances on the show are:

After what feels like an eternity, we are finally at a point where news regarding FX’s amazingly bizarre comedy Wilfred is leaking out. While not as wildly talked about as some of FX’s other comedies – Louie and The League come to mind – Wilfred deserves just as much attention for it’s often daring approach to storytelling. And it’s just straight up hilarious to watch a man in a dog suit smoke a bong and bark at vacuum cleaners. Somehow Wilfred is able to make the darkest of situations funny, thanks to Elijah Wood and Jason Gann’s chemistry, but sooner or later Ryan (Wood) will need to figure out what Wilfred (Gann) is, which brings us back to this bit of casting news.

On the heels of FX renewing its comedy Wilfred for a third season, Wilfred producer FX Prods has inked an overall deal with the series’ executive producer/director Randall Einhorn. The pact locks in a key player on the show following the recent departure of executive producer/showrunner David Zuckerman. FX announced yesterday afternoon that it has picked up the Elijah Wood/Jason Gann comedy for a third season.

The quirky half-hour comedy stars Elijah Wood as a troubled attorney who strikes up an unlikely friendship with his neighbor's dog, Wilfred, played by Jason Gann.

For Ryan (Wood), Wilfred really is this man's best friend -- a walking, talking, pot-smoking Australian with a stuffed animal fetish dressed in a dog costume. Unfortunately, everyone else sees Wilfred as a cute canine.
