Created by James Dormer, Nautilus is a new adaptation of Jules Verne’s novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Episodes 1 and 2 have dropped tonight, June 29, on AMC and AMC+.
Right off the bat, I have to mention how gorgeous the sets are. The show is set in 1857, a time with opulent architecture and style, all of which is rendered beautifully in Nautilus. There is plenty of action, some of which is reminiscent of the Indiana Jones movies. There are fun bits of humor in there too.
Let’s take a look at the first episode. It’s a basic but necessary introduction to the characters and scenario.

One great thing about the streaming era is that if one platform drops the ball or decides to cut its losses, another often steps in to pick up where others left off. That’s precisely what happened with the new series Nautilus. Developed initially for Disney+, reportedly at a cost of over $300 million, the platform ultimately scrapped the project.
Fortunately, AMC+ acquired U.S. distribution rights, while Prime Video picked it up for release in the United Kingdom. Considering the high price tag with no big-name stars attached, was Nautilus worth it? The result is a souped-up, lavish series like you used to see with Lucy Lawless or Daniel Goddard, syndicated internationally, and pre-streaming

Netflix is always offering subscribers many new options, although sometimes they don't always live up to expectations. This is not the case with its new limited series.
The Survivors is an Australian murder mystery series that premiered on Netflix on June 6. The six-episode series comes from Clickbait creator Tony Ayres and is already a huge hit with the critics, and rising to the charts on Netflix. With little to no promotion, The Survivors debuted in fourth place on the streaming service's Top 10, per Tudum.
After Dept. Q's success with the critics and the audience, The Survivors continues the same trend. The limited series debuted with 5.3 million views and 26.4 million hours viewed for the week between June 2 and 8. Considering the murder mystery miniseries had only two days to achieve this feat following its release on the platform, The Survivors' numbers are thrilling.

The Australian crime drama series The Survivors premiered on Netflix recently. Based on the book of the same title, The Survivors is more intimate than a crime drama just seeking a whodunnit answer. It explores themes of grief, memory, long-withheld secrets, and the ebbs and flows in people’s lives in the interconnected community of Evelyn Bay, a sea-washed, moody, coastal town in Australia. The series overlaps the town’s past and present while dealing with three deaths that took place fifteen years ago during a storm, and the murder of a young artist that took place more recently. Although the deaths had taken place deep in the past, they had shaped the town’s memory by leaving behind grieving parents, chosen sons to fill up the gaps left by those who left, hope for finding answers, and not the least—an indelible survivor’s guilt.

Netflix just dropped The Survivors, a gritty six-part Australian mini-series that grabs your attention from the first frame and doesn’t let go. Created by Tony Ayres and starring Charlie Vickers (The Rings of Power) and Yerin Ha (Halo), the series is adapted from Jane Harper’s best-selling novel of the same name. It unfolds in a remote coastal town haunted by an old tragedy, now shaken again by a fresh murder. At a time when Ott platforms are overloaded with half-hearted dramas and recycled thrillers, The Survivors comes as a rare one that actually builds tension without cheap tricks.

Netflix is kicking off the summer of 2025 with an incredible lineup of new shows! Not all of them are probably worth watching for everybody, but there's definitely something for everyone this month. I shared a list of a few good Netflix shows that viewers simply need to watch in June 2025.
The month is already off to a great start with the release of Ginny and Georgia season 3 on Thursday, June 5. Later this month, the biggest Netflix show of all time, Squid Game, comes to an end with the release of the third and final season on Thursday, June 27. Those are the two Netflix shows everyone will be watching, and because they're so popular, almost everyone knows when those shows are coming back.
Ginny and Georgia and Squid Game only make up a fraction of the good Netflix shows fans need to watch in June. There are so many other good shows coming in June.

There are few narrative setups as reliably potent as the return home, especially when home is a place that has spent years nursing a wound you helped inflict. This is the anchor point for The Survivors, which sees Kieran Elliott (Charlie Vickers) venture back into the suffocating embrace of Evelyn Bay, Tasmania, fifteen years after a fateful decision.
The original trauma is a foundational piece of small-town lore: during a violent storm, Kieran’s brother Finn and a friend, Toby, drowned while attempting to rescue him from a perilous sea cave. He survived; they did not. The town, and more pointedly his own mother, Verity (Robyn Malcolm), has never let him forget it.
Kieran’s reappearance with his partner, Mia (Yerin Ha), and their new baby is timed with a near-perfect sense of dramatic cruelty, coinciding with the anniversary of the deaths. He finds a father (Damien Garvey) lost to...

Tony Ayres knew he had a problem. The creator behind Netflix hits “Clickbait” and “Stateless” faced a challenge: Jane Harper’s bestseller novel “The Survivors” clocked in at roughly two hours of screen time, but Netflix wanted six episodes. The solution? Crank up the emotional temperature between a guilt-ridden son and his unforgiving mother until their fractured relationship becomes the beating heart of a murder mystery set against Tasmania’s most unforgiving landscape.
The six-episode limited series follows Kieran Elliott (Charlie Vickers) as he returns to his fictional Tasmanian hometown of Evelyn Bay fifteen years after a devastating storm claimed three lives, including his older brother. When a young woman’s body is discovered on the beach, the tragedy forces the tight-knit community to confront unresolved grief and buried secrets, with Kieran’s father (Damien Garvey) — who suffers from dementia — becoming the prime suspect.

Bectu Launches Biggest Ever Survey
British broadcasting union Bectu is launching what it is calling its largest ever survey of those working behind the scenes in TV and film. The union is asking workers across the UK’s creative industries about their experiences and views on key issues facing the sector, including pay, employment practices, mental health and wellbeing and finances. The move comes with the freelance workforce in a perilous position, with thousands exiting the sector as they struggle for work and grapple with low pay and poor conditions. Bectu has repeatedly stressed that this is worsening as time goes on. “Creative industry workers are critical to our economy and to our social and cultural fabric,” said Bectu head Philippa Childs. “But data on creative workers is lacking. The Hulu television series "The Artful Dodger" takes place 15 years after the events of "Oliver Twist." Thomas Brodie-Sangster plays the titular character, Jack Dawkins/the Artful Dodger, who is haunted by his past. The cast includes familiar names like David Thewlis, Maia Mitchell, Damon Herriman, Tim Minchin, and Damien Garvey, among others.
The Artful Dodger tells the story of Jack Dawkins, a young surgeon in Australia in the 1850s who often gets himself in trouble, and the cast list contains a handful of familiar names. The 2023 Hulu television series is based on characters from Charles Dickens's 1838 novel, Oliver Twist. However, instead of being yet another adaptation of the famous novel, the show puts its own spin on the story by taking place 15 years following the events of Oliver Twist. As a result, the majority of characters are original and created for the series, while two are pulled directly from Dickens's work.

The Australian medical drama series Harrow has enjoyed three successful seasons, but will there be a season 4? Debuting on Australia's ABC network in 2018, the series follows a forensic pathologist named Dr. Daniel Harrow (Ioan Gruffudd), who uses his special set of scientific skills to solve a variety of mysterious cases. Acclaimed for its deft balance of procedural storylines with overarching character drama, Harrow isn't a typical cozy mystery series. It invests a lot of time in the personal lives of its heroes. However, the mysteries still crackle with excitement each week, and Gruffudd's performance has been especially praised.
Mixing the familiar charm of the usual cozy mystery series that permeate Australian TV with the weekly drama of shows like Grey's Anatomy, Harrow stands head and shoulders above the usual medical procedurals. With a cast of notable names and fast-paced writing, Harrow has not only seen the titular doctor solve a slew of cases,...

‘Harrow.’
Filming of the third season of Hoodlum Entertainment/the ABC’s Harrow resumed on Monday in Brisbane and South-East Queensland after star Ioan Gruffudd came out of quarantine.
Production of the 10-part series was shut down in March due to Covid-19 with just seven days to go. Gruffudd returned to Los Angeles so producers Tracey Robertson and Nathan Mayfield had to obtain permission from Border Force to bring him back.
Scripted by co-creators Stephen M. Irwin and Leigh McGrath and Michaeley O’Brien, the Screen Queensland-backed show follows Gruffudd’s forensic pathologist Doctor Daniel Harrow as he investigates the death of a young man who claimed to be his son and gets entangled in a dangerous criminal underworld.
Faustina Agolley, who guest starred in the second series, plays Edwina Gharam, Harrow’s new assistant, joining Jolene Anderson (Dr Grace Molyneux), Damien Garvey (Detective Sergeant Bryan Nichols), Darren Gilshenan (Lyle...

Jolene Anderson and Remy Hii in ‘Harrow’ 2.
Here’s a shout-out to producers: The ABC is keen to find another genre series to fill a gap as Matchbox Pictures’ Glitch comes to its conclusion after three seasons.
The pubcaster is also looking for a multi-generational relationship drama, comedies for Wednesday nights and shows with diverse casts and creatives across all genres.
It is less interested in programs set in small country towns and procedural crime series, particularly with the second series of Hoodlum Entertainment’s Harrow premiering on May 12 and the second season of Bunya Productions’ Mystery Road due to shoot later this year in Broome.
That’s the word from ABC head of scripted production Sally Riley. She hopes the funding for her domain – drama, comedy and Indigenous content – for the next financial year will not be less than the last couple of years, despite the federal government-imposed three-year $83.7 million funding cut.
