The 15 Best British Detective Series Ranked
Image
As they are in America, crime shows are a staple in the British television industry, indeed some of the best British TV shows of all time are crime series. But more than just espionage-oriented programming or shows that take the perspective of the criminals themselves, the United Kingdom has an extensive tradition of finely crafted detective stories. From Agatha Christie movies to modern police procedurals, there is no shortage of detective-centric British mysteries in film and television. Be it period piece whodunits to political conspiracies, there are plenty of excellent shows centered on detective figures.

To clarify, though there are many superb British crime shows, this list consists of detective-driven series. This can be police procedurals or less professionally affiliated sleuths like the iconic Sherlock Holmes. The focus here are mystery shows involving a clear level of investigation and deductive reasoning to solve the crimes at hand. Here are the...

Alec Baldwin’s Misconduct Suit Against New Mexico Authorities Dismissed for Failure to Prosecute
Image
A judge on Wednesday dismissed Alec Baldwin’s misconduct suit against authorities in New Mexico, after Baldwin’s side failed to pursue the case.

Baldwin filed the 73-page complaint in January, alleging that prosecutor Kari Morrissey and others trampled on his rights in seeking to hold him accountable for the fatal shooting of “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

But in the months since, Baldwin’s lawyers have done nothing to prosecute the civil case — failing even to file a notice that the defendants had been served.

Judge Casey Fitch ordered the case dismissed without prejudice, meaning it could be reinstated if the plaintiffs seek to revive it.

“We have been in good faith discussions with the parties to the lawsuit and will be refiling promptly if those discussions are not promptly and favorably resolved,” said Baldwin’s lawyer, Luke Nikas, in a statement.

Under New Mexico law, a case can be...

You’re Not Going to Believe This, but… Morrissey Canceled Some Concerts
Image
The troubles continue for Morrissey, as the singer has been forced to cancel five more concerts on his ongoing European tour after an unidentified member of his band sustained an injury.

Get Morrissey Tickets Here

The Smiths singer initially pulled the plug on a date scheduled in Belgrade, Romania, on July 8th, and has since scrapped showed planned in Bucharest, Romania; Istanbul, Turkey; Athens, Greece; and Šibenik, Croatia. Earlier in the tour, Morrissey canceled a pair of concerts scheduled in Stockholm, Sweden, citing exhaustion after traveling through six countries in the span of seven days.

As of now, Morrissey is scheduled to return to the stage starting July 23rd in Gardone Riviera, Italy. However, given that he has canceled well over 100 shows since 2010, fans really are playing Russian roulette with their money by purchasing tickets. A North American tour — including several make-up dates for shows postponed earlier this year — is...

Remembering Mark Snow: A brief oral history of ‘The X-Files Theme,’ from the strange real title to the surprising connection to a Smiths song to the missing lyrics
Image
When you think about The X-Files, a few things instantly come to mind. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson’s paranormal-investigating FBI agents shining their flashlights into a void. The glow of the Cigarette Smoking Man’s cancer stick. The “I Want to Believe” UFO poster. “The Truth Is Out There” tagline. And the theme music.

Composed by the prolific Mark Snow, the theme was first played in the second episode and would gone to appear in all subsequent episodes of the original series, the two feature films, and the 2016-18 revival.

Snow, who died July 4 at his Connecticut home at age 78, leaves behind a stunning array of classic TV music. His career launched with the 1976 John Travolta telefilm The Boy in the Plastic Bubble (memorably skewered years later on Seinfeld) and included music for Starsky & Hutch, Dynasty, The Love Boat, Cagney & Lacey,...

Fans who purchased tickets to see Morrissey in Stockholm, Sweden, on Monday, June 23, were ultimately left without plans for the night when the musician cancelled on the eve of the concert. On his official website, Morrissey claimed he’s been struggling to secure support from the music industry in order to complete the trek.

“The pain at not reaching Stockholm this week is horrific for the band and crew,” he wrote. “I know it’s impossible for people to understand, but we dream of Stockholm, Reykjavik, Trondheim, Helsinki, Aarhus … but...

Franz Ferdinand Recruit Johnny Marr for New Version of “Build It Up”: Stream
Image
Franz Ferdinand have unveiled two revamped tracks that appeared on their 2025 album The Human Fear: a new version of “Build It Up” with Johnny Marr on guitar and a live rendition of “Hooked” recorded live at Glasgow’s Barrowlands featuring Master Peace.

The Scottish rockers recently busted out “Build It Up” alongside Marr for an Amazon Music Live City Sessions performance, so the group decided to bring Marr into the studio for a recorded version. The new cut is faithful to The Human Fear original, but now, features some meatier guitar work courtesy of Marr and Franz Ferdinand guitarists Alex Kapranos, Dino Bardot, and Julian Corrie.

“Johnny is an inspiration. Literally. I sat in my bedroom as a teenager trying to work out how to play his melodies,” said Kapranos in a press statement about having Marr on the track. “To hear his distinctive playing on our song is glorious.

Morrissey Cancels Concert in Sweden Citing Exhaustion: “We Are Travel-Weary Beyond Belief”
Morrissey
Morrissey canceled a concert in Stockholm, Sweden, over the weekend, citing exhaustion after traveling through six countries in the span of seven days.

In a statement shared on social media, the singer blamed a “lack of financial support from imaginary record labels.”

“We are travel-weary beyond belief. We can barely see,” Morrissey added. “We pray to God that someone, somewhere can help us reach Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark … where we have thousands upon thousands of friends, yet absolutely zero music industry support. No label will release our music, no radio will play our music … and yet our ticket sales are sensational. What does this tell us about the state of Art in 2025?”

Morrissey hasn’t released a new album since 2020’s I Am Not a Dog on a Chain, and he has repeatedly lamented his struggles to find a label to release its follow‑up,...

Johnny Marr on Turning Down The Smiths Reunion Offer: “The Vibe’s Not Right”
Image
Last year, Johnny Marr turned down a “lucrative offer” to reunite with Morrissey and tour the world as The Smiths in 2025. During a recent appearance on the Stick to Football podcast, Marr expounded on the decision, explaining, “It was a little bit about principles, but I’m not an idiot, I just think the vibe’s not right.”

“It was an eye-watering amount of money, but also, I really like what I’m doing now which makes it a lot easier,” Marr added. “I like where I’m at. I still want to write the best song I’ve ever written. I want to be a better performer.”

For his part, Morrissey did accept the offer, explaining in an interview last year: “I agreed because it felt like the last time such a thing would be possible. We’ve all begun to grow old. I thought the tour that was...

Nick Cave Did Not Want to Read Morrissey’s ‘Silly Anti-Woke Screed’ for New Song
Image
Nick Cave said Morrissey recently contacted him with an offer to provide vocals on a new song of his. It’s something Cave, a longtime fan, said he “would have been happy to do,” were it not for the fact that Morrissey wasn’t asking him to sing a verse or provide backing vocals, but intro the track with “an unnecessarily provocative” spoken-word speech.

Responding to a fan question on his “Red Hand Files” website regarding his relationship with Morrissey, Cave said the former Smiths frontman reached out to him...

Nick Cave Reveals He Declined Morrissey’s Request to Deliver “Anti-Woke Screed” on New Song
Image
Nick Cave has opened up about his relationship with fellow singer-songwriter Morrissey, telling fans in his Red Hand Files newsletter that he admires the artist greatly but he “politely declined” a recent opportunity to collaborate with him.

Cave has supported Morrissey’s musical efforts in the past, writing in his newsletter in 2019 that although Morrissey’s political statements were “inanities,” his catalogue has “enhanced the lives of his many fans beyond recognition.” While it appears his overall ‘separate the art from the artist’ stance remains unchanged, he took to his newsletter once again to delve into a recent request from Morrissey that crossed the line.

When asked by a fan named Astrid about his relationship with Morrissey, Cave wrote, “I’ve never actually met Morrissey, which is probably why I like him. He is undeniably a complex and divisive figure, someone who takes more than a little pleasure in pissing people off.

The Walking Dead's Lauren Cohan Was Hesitant About One Maggie & Glenn Moment: "It Was Strange Timing"
Image
The following article contains discussions of rape and abuse.

Maggie Greene actor Lauren Cohan has spoken of her hesitance about shooting one particular scene in The Walking Dead. In season 3 of the show, Maggie and her future husband, Glenn, were captured by Merle Dixon, and they fell into the hands of Steven Morrissey’s sadistic villain, known as the Governor. During episode 7 of the season, “When the Dead Come Knocking”, Cohan had to shoot one of the scariest scenes of Maggie’s entire time on The Walking Dead, in which the Governor physically threatened her with rape.

In the immediate aftermath of this scene, Maggie found comfort in Glenn’s arms, and the two shared a passionate moment, which Cohan has now admitted she found to be a strange turn of events. In an interview with Tommy Didario for his podcast, I’ve Never Said This Before exclusively previewed by Collider,...

Wendy Williams Spent Her Birthday Getting Drunk On Roof Of Her Care Facility, Documentary Claims
Image
A new documentary on Wendy Williams, Trapped: What Is Happening to Wendy Williams?, reveals a shocking story about the acclaimed former talk show host.

The documentary delves into the history of Williams’ alcoholism, dementia diagnosis and controversial guardianship status. The hour-long feature premiered on the ID channel on May 19.

At the beginning of 2025, Williams began to speak out against her conservatorship, forcing her guardian, Sarbina Morrissey, to request a “new medical evaluation that will involve comprehensive neurological and psychological testing by a specialist in the field.” In March, Williams told Good Day New York that she had “passed” the exams at the hospital welfare check-up scheduled by Ginalisa Monterroso, her health care advocate, “with flying colors.” Morrissey said that Williams never scheduled the new medical evaluation.

Williams currently lives on a secured floor of an assisted living facility in New York City. However, investigative journalist Diane Dimond revealed that this...

Dead Kennedys’ East Bay Ray: Jello Biafra Won’t Reunite With Us Despite Lucrative Offers
Image
As much as Dead Kennedys fans would love to see the legendary punk band reunite with original singer Jello Biafra, guitarist East Bay Ray insists it’s not gonna happen, and that Biafra is to blame.

Despite long-standing animosity and contentious legal disputes, East Bay Ray told Guitar World in a new interview that he and bassist Klaus Fluoride would be open to performing with Biafra again but that the singer continues to turn down offers for a reunion (including an apparent lucrative one from Riot Fest in 2017).

“It’s not an issue for me or Klaus,” said East Bay Ray. “It’s Biafra that turns down any offers for us to do something; we don’t have any problem.”

The guitarist then referenced a lawsuit that he and his Dead Kennedys bandmates brought against Biafra in 2000 over withholding band royalties, which resulted in the singer having to pay not...

Why Jill Sobule “I Kissed a Girl” Remains a Model for Queer Representation
Image
LGBTQ audiences who wanted visibility in pop culture had it tough for most of 1995, when Morrissey’s “Boy Racer” was about as explicit as things got (“He’s just too good-looking…”). Two years before Ellen DeGeneres came out to a network TV audience of millions, several fresh shoots appeared in an otherwise largely barren field. The political ABC sitcom Spin City boasted a gay Black character, the third- or fourth-funniest cast member. A closeted lesbian chief of staff kept an eye on the hospital in NBC’s megahit E.R.

Wilhelm Sasnal on the score of The Assistant (based on the novel by Robert Walser) with Esg producer and 99 Records founder Ed Bahlman and Anne-Katrin Titze: “It was very important to have sort of timeless music.”

In the first instalment with Wilhelm Sasnal, co-director with Anka Sasnal of his adaptation of Robert Walser’s The Assistant, we are joined by Esg producer and 99 Records founder Ed Bahlman. The film (shot by Wilhelm Sasnal) includes scenes set to songs by Blod (Gustaf Dicksson), The Smiths (I Don’t Owe You Anything by Morrissey & Johnny Marr) from their 1984 début album, and Esg on 99 Records (Dance by Renee Scroggins) from their 1983 début album.

Kelsea Ballerini Wants To Win ‘The Voice’, But She Knows It’s Really About The “Moments” – Contenders TV: Documentary, Unscripted & Variety

Last year, Michael Bublé became only the fourth new coach on The Voice to have a winning artist in his debut season.

Bublé coached Sofronio Vasquez, who won Season 26, putting him up there with Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Niall Horan, who also coached winners after immediately joining the NBC singing competition.

Kelsea Ballerini, who joined the show in Season 27, wants to replicate Bublé’s success this season but is aware that what’s really important for artists on the show is having a “moment.”

“I am competitive. I think when I first started, like during the blind [auditions], I was very I really wanted to win,” the pop star said during a panel conversation at Deadline’s Contenders Television: Documentary, Unscripted & Variety event.

“That shifted now that we’re deeper into the season, and just having conversations off camera, either with [showrunner and executive producer] Audrey [Morrissey] and the producers or the other coaches,...

Netflix’s Pride & Prejudice Reboot Series Casts Slow Horses & MCU Stars
Image
The stars have been found for Netflix’s forthcoming series adaptation of Jane Austen’s iconic romance novel Pride & Prejudice. This comes ahead of the 20th anniversary celebration of director Joe Wright’s 2005 movie remake, which was led by Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.

As announced by Netflix, Jack Lowden has been announced to play the leading role of Mr. Darcy, who was famously played by Colin Firth in the 1995 miniseries, and by Macfadyen in the 2005 film adaptation. In the story, Mr. Darcy is introduced as a wealthy young gentleman. Even though she finds him handsome and interesting, the smart and free-spirited Elizabeth Bennet was turned off by his arrogance and aloofness. Despite their terrible first impressions, they suddenly find themselves slowly gravitating towards each other each time they meet.

For his performance in the Gary Oldman-led spy drama, Lowden received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for Best...

Morrissey Initiates Legal Action Against Internet Troll for “Decades-Long” Defamation Campaign
Image
Morrissey has initiated legal action against an alleged online troll who has led a “decades-long” campaign of defamation against the former Smiths singer.

As reported by Music Business Worldwide, Morrissey has retained UK-based law firm Levy & McRae to pursue action against a person believed to be responsible for posting “distressing, harmful, and libelous” content about him “on an almost daily basis… multiple times per day.”

According to the cease-and-desist letter, the alleged perpetrator also physically targeted Morrissey, leaving “written notes at and to the home of our client” — an act supposedly captured on CCTV — and endangering members of his family, putting them “at substantial risk of physical and emotional harm.”

The letter also accuses the alleged perpetrator of injecting “far-right politics” into the posts to manufacture a misleading public image of Morrissey, perpetuating “a harmful global narrative that is inaccurate, defamatory and has driven the media to repeat these falsehoods.

Morrissey Calls Sparks “Headless Palisades Savages Who Threw Their Old Friends into Hot Molten Lava for Sexy Kicks”
Image
Morrissey has once again said something asshole-ish and, in other news, forks were found in the kitchen. This time, Moz has called Sparks “headless palisades savages who threw their old friends into hot molten lava for sexy kicks.” Points for creativity, at least.

The quote comes from a new Instagram post from Morrissey, in which he shared a slew of archival photos from the early ’90s. The final image is of a note written to Morrissey from Ron and Russell Mael, the brothers behind Sparks. In the caption, the former Smiths frontman comments on how “nice” the note was, before launching into the mudslinging.

‘The Voice’ showrunner Audrey Morrissey wants Adele as a coach: ‘She would slay’
Image
Now in its 27th season, The Voice is Warner Bros. and NBC's flagship reality TV competition program, having won nine Emmy Awards from 81 nominations. What is it exactly that attracts awards voters to the show year after year?

"I really think people respond to the feel-good nature," showrunner Audrey Morrissey told Gold Derby at Wednesday's Emmys FYC event at the West Hollywood Edition Screening Room. "Especially now, there's a lot of not-feel-good stuff in life, so I think a feel-good show is relief. There's something about music that really is cleansing. It makes you feel good and universal, and it's a noble pursuit." She likened The Voice to a "before and after" narrative, or an "underdog story."

As far as her dream coach is concerned, Morrissey has her eyes set on the Oscar winner for Skyfall. "One person that we've thought about for years, and I know she would slay,...

Wendy Williams Rips Legal Guardianship In Conversation With ‘The View’: ‘How Dare They Say I Have An Incapacitation!’
Image
In a pre-recorded interview that aired on Friday, former talk show legend Wendy Williams spoke with the hosts of The View and shared details about her conservatorship battle against her legal guardian Sabrina Morrissey.

Over the phone, Williams told the women that her visit to the hospital earlier that week had been of her own volition, in contrast to reports that Williams had been taken against her will. Before being taken to the hospital that week, Williams had thrown a note reading “Help! Wendy!” from her window down to the street and was seen waving desperately.

Williams informed the panel that she had chosen to go to the hospital for an independent psychiatric evaluation and bloodwork for her thyroid condition.

“Where I live, at this memory unit on this floor, I just needed a breath of fresh air,” she said. “I needed to see the doctors, so, that’s why I went to the hospital.

On Tuesday, Williams left the assisted living facility where she’s currently residing while under the supervision of a court-appointed guardian. She was taken to a New York hospital for evaluation following a call placed for a welfare check and while at the hospital, she passed a cognitive test, she claims. As she told The View on Friday morning, she also went to dinner before heading back to the facility on Manhattan’s west side. On Wednesday, Williams had appeared on The Breakfast Club radio show to discuss what happened and her situation in detail.

“I just needed a breath of fresh air,” Williams told The View’s panel of hosts by phone.

Wendy Williams Explains Removal From Assisted Living Facility for Hospital Evaluation, Insists She’s “Not Incapacitated”
Image
Wendy Williams called in to New York morning radio show The Breakfast Club on Tuesday to explain what happened the day before, when it was reported that she was removed from the assisted living facility where she’s currently residing and taken to a New York hospital for evaluation.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed with the NYPD that “it responded to a welfare check” at the location of Williams’ assisted living facility.

Williams, who was diagnosed with dementia in 2023, has been residing at an assisted living facility since 2023. In November 2024, legal documents filed by court-appointed caregiver Sabrina Morrissey described her as “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled and legally incapacitated.”

Williams has since spoken out against her guardianship, calling in to The Breakfast Club in January, where she said she’s “not cognitively impaired” but feels as though she’s “in prison.”

On Tuesday, Williams called again in to The Breakfast Club along...

Image
Martin Scorsese has paid tribute to David Johansen, who died on Feb. 28 at age 75. The filmmaker helmed the Johansen doc Personality Crisis: One Night Only, which featured interviews with the New York Dolls frontman and punk rock pioneer.

“With David Johansen, it started with the music, of course. Actually, with a New York Dolls song, ‘Personality Crisis.’ I heard that song, I can’t remember when or where, and it stayed with me. I listened to it obsessively,” Scorsese said in a statement shared with Rolling Stone. “The sound was rough,...

Watch the New York Dolls Play ‘Jet Boy’ and ‘Pills’ at Their Final Show in 2011
Image
When Morrissey attempted to reunite the New York Dolls in 2004 for a performance at London’s Meltdown festival, he thought his odds of success were low. “I expected David [Johansen] to laugh at me and put the phone down,” he said that year. “But he was very agreeable and it seemed like now was the right time. He said, ‘Yes, they are great songs.’ I said, ‘Yes, and that’s the reason why you should sing them. That’s the reason why people still want to hear them.’”

Prior to Morrissey’s call,...

Wendy Williams Signs Document To End Her Guardianship While Continuing To Deny She Has Dementia
Image
Former talk show host Wendy Williams has signed an affidavit to end her guardianship as she continued to reject her frontotemporal dementia (Ftd) diagnosis.

In early 2024, Williams’ care team revealed she was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and Ftd. Her family asserted that they had been unaware of these conditions until the year prior.

Williams signed the document on Wednesday, requesting that the judge set her free.

In the affidavit, she stated that she has “regained the capacity” to function without her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina E. Morrissey. The media personality also mentioned that, despite what doctors had asserted, she does not have Ftd.

Williams will be re-evaluated by a doctor on Feb. 18, and the attorney she hired to end the guardianship chose this doctor.

Nine Rock Star Memoirs We Hope to Read One Day
Image
Back in the Eighties and Nineties, the release of a major rock star memoir was a fairly uncommon event. Noteworthy ones like George Harrison’s I, Me, Mine (1980), Iggy Pop’s I Need More (1982), and David Lee Roth’s Crazy From the Heat (1997) popped up every once in a while, but it wasn’t until the 2000s that this genre started making regular appearances on The New York Times bestseller list, thanks to landmark works like Anthony Kiedis’ Scar Tissue, Bob Dylan’s Chronicles: Volume One, Eric Clapton’s The Autobiography,...

‘It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley’ Review: Amy Berg Crafts a Stirring if Circumscribed Tribute to the Troubadour With the Voice of an Angel
Image
Ten years after her Janis Joplin bio-doc, Janis: Little Girl Blue, director Amy Berg returns to the music world with It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley, an adoring portrait of another blazing talent who died way too young, leaving an influential legacy. Every fan — whether those of us who got misty-eyed to his music in the ‘90s or romantic teenagers discovering him in recent years via social media — has their favorite Buckley songs. Mine oscillate between “So Real” and “Grace,” “Last Goodbye” and “Everybody Here Wants You.” For Berg, whose connection to the artist’s music pulses through every moment of her new doc, it would appear to be his transcendent cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”

That’s an entirely valid choice and a popular one, it being Buckley’s only song to reach No. 1 on a Billboard chart — in 2008, 11 years after his tragic death at age 30. But it...

Wendy Williams Takes 7 Pills A Day, But Doesn’t Know Why
Image
Wendy Williams said a lot of things this week in two different interviews. She spoke to her longtime friend, Don Lemon, on his podcast. She also spoke to DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God on the Breakfast Club podcast. In both, she seemed distressed that she was locked away and wasn’t allowed to see her family and loved ones. However, she also seemed concerned about her treatment.

Here is what Wendy had to say about the treatment in the facility she was admitted to in New York.

Wendy Williams Says She Is Taking Lots Of Mystery Medication

In the interviews, Wendy Williams said that she feels that the facility she lives in is like a prison. While this is not a basic long-term care facility and is instead a luxury care facility with around-the-clock medical care, she feels that she can’t do anything but just look out the window.

Sobbing Wendy Williams Says Her Cats Given Away Without Consent
Image
In a new interview, Wendy Williams spoke with her niece, Alex Finnie, and The Breakfast Club podcast about her current living conditions. Alex said she flew to New Jersey to see her aunt, but her conservator, Sabrina Morrissey, wouldn’t allow her to see her. She could only call her, so they set up the interview so Wendy could tell the side of the story.

While they are scared that Sabrina will retaliate and punish Williams, they want Wendy to speak out about the situation. This includes her crying that Sabrina took away her beloved cats without her consent.

Wendy Williams Has Cats Given Away By Conservator

Wendy Williams talked about a myriad of topics in the interview. She mostly spoke about how she had been locked away in a facility. Wendy said she has been isolated and kept from her family and friends. She also said she had her...

Wendy Williams did an interview with The Breakfast Club podcast that aired on Thursday. However, when the interview ended, both Wendy and her niece, Alex Fiennie, said that Williams’s conservator might punish her for speaking out about her treatment. They believe that her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, will punish Wendy by keeping her from seeing her own father.

Here is what Wendy believes will happen in retaliation for her telling her side of the story.

Wendy Williams Feartful Conservator Will Block Her Access To Dad

Wendy Williams had a lot to say in her interview about her treatment at the hands of her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey. Wendy Williams Lashes Out Against Guardian & Claims She’s ‘Cognitively Impaired’: ‘I Feel Like I’m In Prison’
Image
Talk show host Wendy Williams has spoken out against the reports that she is “cognitively impaired.”

Williams has been under guardianship since The Wendy Williams Show ended in 2022, and Wells Fargo, her bank, announced that she was an “incapacitated person” experiencing “undue influence and financial exploitation.” Last year, it was announced by Williams’ team that she was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, which rendered her “cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated.”

On Thursday morning, Williams called into the radio show The Breakfast Club to say, “I am not cognitively impaired, you know what I’m saying? But I feel like I’m in prison.”

She rhetorically asked hosts DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious and Charlemagne The God, “Do I seem that way, god damn it? I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s…there’s something wrong with these people here on this floor.

Wendy Williams Bursts Into Tears in Rare Interview About Guardianship: ‘I Feel Like I Am in Prison’
Image
Wendy Williams is speaking out. In an emotional interview with “The Breakfast Club,” the former talk show host explained what her life is like in the cognitive facility where she resides. Though she didn’t expressly criticize her guardianship due to an ongoing legal battle, the star painted an upsetting picture of her current life.

“I am not cognitively impaired. You know what I’m saying? I feel like I am in prison,” Williams told Charlamagne tha God and DJ Envy.

In January of 2022, Wells Fargo froze Williams’ accounts and requested the New York Supreme Court to determine whether she needed a guardianship due to health conditions. Sabrina Morrissey was appointed to oversee the star’s finances, leading to Williams being moved to a wellness facility. That is where she’s remained.

Her representatives have stated that Williams was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2023, an allegation of mental impairment that Williams disputed.

Wendy Williams spoke out against her guardianship on “The Breakfast Club” Thursday morning, saying, “I feel like I’m in prison.” The former daytime host has been under a guardianship since 2022, and last year, her care team said she had been diagnosed with dementia and aphasia, which affects language and communication abilities.

However, when calling into “The Breakfast Club,” Williams said this is not true. “Do I seem that way, god damn it?” she asked hosts DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God and Jess Hilarious.

“I am not cognitively impaired, you know what I’m saying? But I feel like I’m in prison,” the 60-year-old said of the New York City care facility where she has been living. “I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s … There’s something wrong with these people here on this floor.”
