"Locke and Key" is one of the best comic book series of the 2000s. It's an incredible fantasy-horror work with stunning art by Gabriel Rodríguez and a compelling narrative that manages to be both whimsical and mature, with young characters that act like kids yet are not looked down upon or treated as lesser than the adults. The comics also mix a bit of Amblin in with a lot of Stephen King to tell a phenomenal story about growing up -- one that's as scary as it is heartfelt, which is fitting since the comic was written by King's son Joe Hill (who also wrote the short story "The Black Phone" is based on).

According to Deadline, the cabler has canceled Project Blue Book and Knightfall.

A sci-fi historical drama, the Project Blue Book TV series starred Aidan Gillen, Michael Malarkey, Neal McDonough, Michael Harney, Laura Mennell, and Ksenia Solo.

The show is inspired by the personal experiences of Dr. J. Allen Hynek (Gillen), a brilliant college professor.

He was recruited by the U.S. Air Force to spearhead the Project Blue Book clandestine operation. He’s partnered with Air Force Captain Michael Quinn (Michael Malarkey).

In season two, they quest for the truth and delve deeper into themes of global conspiracy, look at how UFOs have impacted the evolution of the nation’s military practices and technology and lean into the nostalgia of the 1950s.

Project Blue Book Season 2 concluded in March with Hynek searching for Quinn, who was blown to bits by an explosion.

Project Blue Book fans will be left with a few questions after History cancelled the Aidan Gillen-fronted drama.

The second season of the UFO drama ended on March 24 with Gillen’s Dr. Allen Hynek searching for his colleague Capt. Michael Quinn, played by Michael Malarkey, who was evidently blown to bits by an underwater explosion.

However, the A+E Networks’ cable network has opted not to pursue a third season of the show.

The show was created by David O’Leary, who served as writer and executive producer alongside writer-showrunner Sean Jablonski, Zemeckis, Jackie Levine and Barry Jossen.

Produced by A+E Studios and Compari Entertainment, Project Blue Book is inspired by the personal experiences of Dr. J. The scripted drama, inspired by the personal experiences of Dr. J. Allen Hynek (played by “Game of Thrones” alum Aidan Gillen) amid the top-secret military investigations into UFOs and related phenomena in the 1950s and 60s, debuted on the network last month.

The first few episodes have averaged a total of 3.4 million viewers for History, with three days of delayed viewing factored in.

Oscar-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis has long been fascinated by the fusion of historical fact with inventive fiction — I Wanna Hold Your Hand, 1941, Back to the Future and, of course, Forrest Gump are a few of his past projects that memorably embroidered fictional characters over historical events.

Exclusive: Now this has a familiar ring to it: Robert Zemeckis is revisiting the 1950s to rewrite history with one new project and then he’s going back to the future to prove the power of love with a second project.

No, Zemeckis isn’t revving up the DeLorean for more Marty McFly sequels — however, the director of the Back to the Future trilogy (1985-1990) and Contact (1997) is making a relatively rare return to science fiction with the two projects. This time around, however, his foray into the genre is in a producing role. On Monday, Zemeckis talked about the two projects: Bios, the upcoming feature film; and Project Blue Book, a television series that premieres in January on History.

It started with a long-ago conversation with astronomer Carl Sagan, which awoke an abiding interest in UFOs and the possibility of extraterrestrial life in Robert Zemeckis. That led in part to 1997’s “Contact,” which Zemeckis helmed, and, now, “Project Blue Book,” which he’s executive producing for A+E Studios.

The show bears more than a passing resemblance to “The X-Files,” from the tagline to the menacing presence of a shadowy figure in a hat and coat. Based on a real-life government operation called Project Blue Book, the series centers on the investigation by the U.S. Air Force into UFO sightings in the 1950s and ’60s. It stars Aiden Gillen as J. Allen Hynek, an astrophysics professor recruited to help with the investigation, and Michael Malarkey as the Air Force captain assigned to debunk the stories.

In a Gold Derby exclusive, we have learned the category placements of the key Emmy Awards contenders for AMC and Sundance. While AMC does not have perennial favorite “Better Call Saul” eligible for this cycle, they do have new drama contender “McMafia” (starring James Norton), returning drama “The Walking Dead” (Andrew Lincoln) and limited series “The Terror” (Jared Harris). Exclusive: Ksenia Solo, whose credits include the Syfy series Lost Girl and AMC’s Turn: Washington’s Spies, has been set as the lead in Sweet Harmony, an indie psychological thriller to be directed by Jeff Beesley. Shooting is set to start this summer in Winnipeg.

The script from Kerry Douglas Dye is mostly under wraps, but the story takes place in a rent-controlled New York apartment building in a gentrifying neighborhood that has gone condo. Conflict arises between the newer upscale residents and one of the original tenants. Scary Good Films’ Kevin Niu and Shane Snoke are producing, and Lynwood Spinks and Casey Wolfe are executive producers.

Ksenia Solo stars as a shy small-town Ohio girl who discovers Federico Fellini's "delightfully bizarre films" (see IMDb) and sets off on a journey across Italy to find him. Along the way, she discovers herself and romance and tasty Italian candy and much more. The cast includes Maria Bello, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Beth Riesgraf, Andrea Osvárt, and David O'Donnell.
