Lionel Blair: 'CBB Jim Davidson is not my biggest fan'
Lionel Blair has revealed his reasons for nominating Jim Davidson for eviction in Celebrity Big Brother.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other reporters after becoming the third housemate to be evicted, Blair said that Jim wanted to go home, so "why make him suffer?"

"I thought it was making him unhappy, and he kept saying, 'Oh I miss my wife', and with all the rain, he was very worried about the floods. He kept saying, 'I want to get out of here, I want to get out of here'.

"When somebody says that, you go, 'Poor man, why make him suffer?' That's the only reason I nominated him. But I know he's not my biggest fan."

Asked to elaborate, the 82-year-old entertainer explained that he and Jim had a disagreement after working together on a panto some years back.

"Because I did his first pantomime, which was an enormous success at the Palladium,...

Will All My Children and One Life to Live Return from the Dead? Burning Questions Answered
Susan Lucci, Debbi Morgan, Rebecca Budig, Cameron Mathison, and Darnell Williams in All My Children (1970)
On Jan. 13, it will be a year since One Life to Live signed off of ABC. And All My Children has been gone even longer. But in either case, did anyone see a body? Hmmm….

As first reported by our sister site Deadline, Prospect Park, the entertainment production company that sought to keep both of the aforementioned soaps alive online but ultimately had to put a pin in that plan, is again looking to revisit Pine Valley and Llanview.

Because hopes were raised only to be dashed the first time around, Prospect Park is laboring to be more “cautious” and...

'Gossip Girl' recap: Dumping ground
Penn Badgley, Blake Lively, Taylor Momsen, Leighton Meester, Jessica Szohr, Chace Crawford, and Ed Westwick in Gossip Girl (2007)
Some TV shows get a kick out of having annual Halloween episodes, but on Gossip Girl, it’s common practice to dress up and pretend to be something you’re not. Luckily, the Upper East Side has its own version of a Pagan holiday — Cotillion! Except this annual tradition has less virgin sacrifices — because let’s face it, where are we going to find a virgin among this crowd?

Alas, this parade of “innocence,” in which Sage was set to participate (Haha!), was the focal point of all the action this week.

Naturally, Sage wanted nothing more than for Serena...

How Big Brother rose like Lazarus
Tonight is the final episode of Nine’s first outing of Big Brother. With 300 crew members, 42 cameras and almost 90 hours of television broadcast each series, there is no TV production quite like it. Encore managing editor Brooke Hemphill visits the set of the revived reality show to see how it is put together and finds the training ground for Australia’s television industry.

Down the dark corridor, lit only by red strip lighting on the floor, thick black curtains cover one-way mirrors. Like a sex peep show, unidentifiable silhouettes peer through gaps in the curtains. “Shhhh. The housemates are over here,” a voice whispers shining a torch in Encore’s direction. We’re in the camera space of the Big Brother house, where up to five camera crew are on shift staffing the 10 fixed cameras rationed between the various rooms. It’s a maze of corridors populated only by the camera team,...

'Gossip Girl' recap: A B in B's clothing
Blair McDonough
What an incredibly frustrating episode of Gossip Girl.

If I may recap from the top of Mount Holier Than Thou — I think every character on this show was secretly infected with some sort of crazy virus à la The Walking Dead, died (inside), activated the virus, and now roams the streets of New York calling themselves “mentors.” Yup, there’s no other option because these people can’t be real. (Also, Sandra, newsflash: They’re not.)

Alas, in whatever warped reality in which Gossip Girl takes place, this week’s episode found Serena and Blair at each other’s throats...

How Aboriginal 'Supremes' beat racism to inspire box office hit
The Sapphires tells the true story of the 1960s female indigenous band who defied the odds

When Tony Briggs was a boy, his mother told him stories he did not know whether he should believe. In 1960s Australia, could an Aboriginal woman like her really have become a singing sensation and entertained the troops in Vietnam?

It was an improbable, glamorous tale and it captivated Briggs, who was later to become a performer and writer. Now, more than three decades on, he has brought the story of the unlikely showbusiness career enjoyed by his mother and his aunts to the big screen.

The Sapphires, already a box-office hit in Australia, tells of the rise of a singing group in the face of racial prejudice. Showing at a gala night at the London film festival on 15 October, it will be released in Britain next month.

"I said to the women [the band members], 'we...

"Survivor" Recap: Blair Down
The early stages of Survivor are both monotonous and awesome. Although you're waiting for the real alliances and betrayals to happen, you're also enjoying a lot of losers and weirdos. And that is totally fun. Think of when you first laid eyes on Project Runway's bizarre puppeteer Elisa Jimenez or leather princess Stella Zotis. You knew they wouldn't live, but you needed that craycray.

Allow me to count up the most important items of entertainment from last night's episode. We dropped from 17 contestants to 16, and the elimination felt healthy. (And yes, our blond-smirky-probz-gay hottie Carter is still in the game. Phew.)

1. Sorry, I was wrong: Roxy is just insane.

Survivor needed another motormouth to kick around since the marvelous, braindead Zane left us last week. Enter Roxy, who I thought I loved.

"Those two are dangerous together," Roxy warned us about her tribemates Malcolm and Angie, who'd been snuggling.

Harvey recently reprised his role as Connor O'Neill for a four-week guest stint, which will see his character paying a visit to ex-housemate Toadie Rebecchi (Ryan Moloney). He explained: "I did actually float the idea of Stu making a return to the Neighbours producers. They were too far down the path with the storyline at that point, (more)...

Big Brother! The Bold & The Beautiful! Breaking Bad! Boss! The TV Addict Week in Rewind
Best Line: Forget the Zingbot! Big Brother’s Britney scored the best dis when she said of mop-topped Frank, “He wears his hair like that in public. Clearly, he has no shame.”

Weirdest Coincidence: Life proved to be, if not stranger than, certainly on par with fiction when a man named Walter White — just like the Breaking Bad character — was wanted on meth charges.

Least Sucky Change: Only days after her True Blood alter ego was spiked, Tina Majorino was revealed to be the newest Grey’S Anatomy cast member.

Most Shocking Development, Daytime Division: Fans of The Bold & The Beautiful were stunned to learn that original cast member Ronn Moss would be leaving the soap after 25 years. Even more shocking? That the show was looking to recast his iconic role of Ridge Forrester!

Fakest Surprise: Although ads made it seem as if Roseanne Barr was caught off guard by...

Blair Underwood Signs Major Development/Talent Deal w/ NBC/Universal TV
The second noteworthy TV development deal announced today; the first was between producer Debra Martin Chase and ABC Studios (read that post Here). The second comes courtesy of Blair Underwood, who has signed what Deadline calls "a major development/talent holding deal" with NBC/Universal TV. Included in this agreement will be a starring vehicle for Underwood, developed by Universal, as well as a line item that would see Blair cast in another project, if the one Universal develops for him, which Deadline says is a priority, fails to fly. Blair's last tango with NBC didn't end very well; the network canceled the sci-fi drama The Event last year...

Paranormal Activity 4 Trailer: Digital Generation Let Lose?
Paramount have unveiled the official trailer for Paranormal Activity 4’.

I have always been an advocate of the controversial Paranormal films that have often had audiences divided with their popularity. The ‘Blair Witch’ style of filming has always been done to a high quality and their suspense inducing techniques has always got my adrenaline pumping. While they lack a tangible storyline, they have always engaged audiences on a level that other films haven’t been capable of.

The first film was a pioneering suspense horror and the second was an extension of the first with ‘Big Brother’ element. I have looked forward to their development of third person filming styles, no more than the last installment where I was excited to see the retro filming. Unfortunately the third film lacked the fear factor as the directors were determined to elaborate on an already ill-conceived narrative, instead of focusing on its trepidation techniques.

WWE Studios Acquires Found Footage Horror Script ‘Bermuda’
How appropriate: A studio making its name off of schlock is joining in on the (hopefully dying) found footage craze with one of their next projects. According to Deadline, WWE Studios has acquired Bermuda, a spec script written by Bobby Lee Darby and Nathan Brookes.

And if you’re wondering if the film is set in Bermuda, you’re sort of right; putting a new twist on the beat-to-death genre, the film is actually set in the Bermuda Triangle. The script focuses “on a documentary film crew that goes missing, and whose “only trace is the discovery of their film footage chronicling their final desperate days.” The writing duo of Darby and Brookes previously wrote Slaughter, an homage to strange Japanese horror films like Hausu; that took home a Horror Screenplay Competition prize at Slamdance.

WWE Studios president Michael Luisi commented that “the Bermuda Triangle has always been an intriguing and mysterious setting,...

It's times like these we don't mind working on the weekend as the latest news coming out of Afm has one of the best films we've seen all year, Eduardo Sanchez's Lovely Molly (review here), finding domestic distribution with Image Entertainment. Sanchez also wrote the film, about a young wife (Gretchen Lodge) who slowly descends into madness while living with her truck driver husband (Johnny Lewis) in her deceased father’s rural house. Sanchez wrote the film in a way to keep audiences guessing between the belief that Molly has returned to her drug habits or that the spirit of her dead father has taken possession of her soul.

New Line Picks Up Found Footage Tornado Script Category Six
Ever since those stupid kids decided to hike through the Blair Witch's woods, Hollywood has had a serious infatuation with "found-footage" movies. It's understandable. The handheld "you are there" nature of these movies adds a certain visceral nature, and even when you know the backstory is bunk, it's fun to let your brain consider what if that "Based on Real Events" tag was actually true. With the ongoing success of the Paranormal Activity franchise, you can bet this isn't a movie style that's going to be put out to pasture anytime soon. Now another entry has entered the fray: Deadline reports that New Line Cinema has picked up Category Six, a found-footage natural disaster movie spec script about a devastating tornado. New Line paid screenwriter John Swetnam around $300,000 for the script. Category Six is told through handheld video camera and cell phone footage as several high school students try to...

Thank You, ‘Gossip Girl’
Deadline Hollywood in the last coupla years has received shout-outs on a growing number of TV shows like American Idol, Californication, even a multi-episode storyline on Entourage. But tonight I can die happy: The CW’s Gossip Girl gave a shout-out to Deadline and to me. (Serena leaked a story to Deadline in an effort to secure film rights to Dan’s semi-autobiographical novel.) You high-brow types can keep your Boardwalk Empire: I’ve enjoyed every low-brow episode of Gossip Girl since it debuted. Now if only Chuck and Blair can get back together…...

Troll Hunter to Get a Completely Necessary American Remake
Remember when we first told you about Troll Hunter and it's American debut at the Tribeca Film Festival? And then a few days later when we showed you a rad trailer for the movie? Well, it looks like old Ugo was onto something, weren't we, because today it's come out that Troll Hunter is about to be given the greatest honor any foreign film can possibly receive: An American remake.

Via Deadline comes the news that Chris Columbus' 1492 Pictures has acquired the remake rights to the Norwegian horror movie, which uses a worked shoot, "found footage" approach to tell the story of a bunch of students who go, well...troll hunting. It's basically a Scandinavian Blair Witch Project, which has always sounded like money in the bank to us, if it weren't for the fact that everyone was speaking Norwegian of all things.

Columbus has experience working with hairy,...

As “Troll Hunter” opens, remake rights go to Chris Columbus
By Sean O’Connell

Hollywoodnews.com: It’s always been a trend, though it seems to be happening more and more: Find a foreign film that works quite well and immediately greenlight an American version.

Sometimes it’s a drama (take the U.S. version of Susanne Bier’s “Brothers” with Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire and Natalie Portman for a recent example). More often than not, though, it is a horror film, from “The Ring” to the recent “Let Me In,” which recreated the Swedish hit “Let the Right One In.”

This morning, we’re learning of another creature feature that’s getting a U.S. polish, even though the original, foreign version is just now hitting our shores. We’re talking about “Troll Hunter,” André Øvredal’s low-budget Norwegian thriller about … well, mythbusters who video tape their troll hunt, only to have the footage found long after their disappearance (hello,...

‘The Hunger Games’ To Follow In ‘Twilight’ And ‘Harry Potter’s’ Footsteps — Four Movies Out Of Three Books!
Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and the rest of the cast signed contracts for four — that’s right — Four ‘The Hunger Games’ movies, even though the book series is only a trilogy! Woo hoo!

The shrewd reasoning behind this decision? Profit. Lionsgate saw what Summit was doing with Twilight and what Warner Bros did with Harry Potter and decided to squeeze one more film out of the deal. And we can’t say we’re disappointed — bring it on!

Even though they’re not 100% making a fourth movie, Lionsgate has made sure to cover themselves in this process — signing the up-and-coming cast consisting of Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson , John C. Reilly and Liam Hemsworth for four films, reports our sister site, Deadline.com.

This was a smart move, considering both Summit and Warner Bros. had to pay a considerable fee to their respective casts who had only signed on to do one movie per book.

Catherine Hardwicke will direct 'The Bitch Posse' for Virgina Madsen
Catherine Hardwicke's next film will be the film version of Martha O'Connor's novel The Bitch Posse.

According to Deadline, Tristine Skyler wrote the script and it will be co-produced by Virginia Madsen, who originally optioned the book. Skyler is that blond chick who was in Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows! She's also appeared on TV in the series Angel and was in that really weird slasher film starring Dawson from Dawson's Creek called Final Draft. She's also a writer, and aside from The Bitch Posse, she's penning the heavy script for The Bell Jar adaptation due in 2012 from director Nicole Kassell. No. Shit.

So, The Bitch Posse is about three high school friends, Cherry, Amy and Rennie, who call themselves The Bitch Posse. These are troubled girls, however: outlaws, rebels, outcasts. And something horrible happens to them, causing their adulthoods to be fucked up royally forever.

I haven't read this book,...

DVD/Blu-ray Recommendation: “The Last Exorcism”
“A surprisingly invigorating horror film.” The Last Exorcism

Directed by Daniel Stamm

Thanks to its wicked humor and unexpected smarts, The Last Exorcism sets itself apart from many recent attempts at faux-documentaries. In the film, documentary filmmakers follow a disillusioned preacher who hopes to expose the danger exorcism poses in the modern age. He attempts to reveal the ignorance and superstition that fuels its resurgence, as well as the threat posed to the “possessed” individuals. Ultimately, the possibility of the victim dying is not worth the price of satiating a medieval mindset.

The film begins on a comic note, presenting the outrageous theatrics of Preacher Cotton Marcus. The comedy in this section is very broad, and there is a brief sense that the film is simply taking cheap shots at Christianity. However, as the film delves deeper into Cotton’s past, most notably his experiences as a “child preacher” and the birth of his son,...

Self-Proclaimed Bad Girl Taylor Momsen Gets Booted From ‘Gossip Girl’
Poor Jenny Humphrey will no longer be enjoying life on the Upper East Side — and not because of Blair Waldorf.

Taylor Momsen’s teen-terror behavior — like flashing her minor breasts to an entire rock club — is finally catching up with her.

Michael Ausiello reports on Deadline.com that Taylor, 17, will begin “an indefinite hiatus” from CW show Gossip Girl after next week’s episode.

She has only appeared in three episodes this season and sources tell Ausiello that she will not be present for the remaining four episodes (through the mid-season finale).

Why? Because her compulsively wacko behavior off-set and apparent lack of professionalism on it have pushed producers to their limits.

Tim Gunn, who made a guest appearance in one of the fall’s episodes, slammed Momsen’s work habits to E! News: “What a diva. She was pathetic, she couldn’t remember her lines, and she didn’t even have that many.

'Gossip Girl' Cuts Taylor Momsen's Airtime and Brings Someone New
Despite listed as a regular, Taylor Momsen is benched from several more episodes of "Gossip Girl". Her character Jenny Humphrey has been absent before, only appearing in a total of three episodes this season. Deadline's source said Little J will be Mia for at least four episodes beginning the midseason finale on December 6.

Momsen has been making the headlines in the past couple of months for her antics. Beside changing her look to goth and exposing her naked breasts in a live concert, she also blasted her own parents for sending her to work at the age of two. But they may not be the reasons why she is sidelined.

Momsen built a reputation of being hard to work with on the set. While the producers and crew kept their lips sealed on this, guest star Tim Gunn spilled the beans when he had a scene with The Pretty Reckless singer.

Gossip Girl Review: Poor Dan, Poorer Juliet and Holy Chairifornication!
With heavy doses of hate sex, humor and twisted scheming, with a mega-teaser for next week to close it out, last night's Gossip Girl was everything we thought it could be.

Between Chuck and Blair's dueling, equally inept approaches to quitting the other to the gang confusing the heck out of the Dean (and us) to bail out S, it was Gg at its best.

Counting the number of breakups may require a second hand, but that's par for the course. Juliet's plot was finally exposed (sort of), but she'll be back with reinforcements.

Njbc vs. the Outsiders? This is going to be good. Anyone taking bets?

This Needs To End: So Blair said. We couldn't disagree more.

"Juliet Doesn't Live Here Anymore" was proof that in the Gossip Girl universe, anything goes as long as you're invested and amused. We were definitely both throughout.

Most of the comic...
