The 32nd Galway Film Fleadh announces its award winners - Galway 2020 – Awards

The prestigious Irish film event saw the triumph of Philip Doherty's dark comedy musical Redemption of a Rogue, crowned Best Irish Film and Best Irish First Feature. The 32nd edition of the Galway Film Fleadh (7-12 July), one of Ireland's most prestigious film events, was brought to a close by the traditional awards ceremony, which took place before the digital screening of Tomás Ó Súilleabháin's Arracht. On this occasion, the whole event was held fully online as a safety precaution owing to the current Covid-19 outbreak. This edition saw the triumph of Philip Doherty's dark comedy musical Redemption of a Rogue, which scooped the Awards for Best Irish Film and Best Irish First Feature. Doherty's movie revolves around Jimmy (Aaron Monaghan), a prodigal son who returns home to Cavan to visit his ailing father and seek redemption before he intends to say goodbye to the world. Dearg Films Trace the Wild West
Dearg Films are currently in production of a seven part series for TG4 with seven different presenters looking at the true stories behind some of the most iconic characters and moments from the Wild West. The series will be made up of half hour programmes on Jesse James, Billy the Kid, Butch Cassidy, the Gunfight at the Ok Corral, the Battle at the Alamo, Custer's Last Stand and Buffalo Bill. So far presenters confirmed include, musician Fiachna O Braonain, actor Tomas O'Suilleabhain and presenters Tom Brannigan, Paidi O Lionaird and Daithi O Se.
