The ways in which we consume music are completely different from even just 10 years ago. How we listen to it, purchase it and share it are evolving with every year. The music industry is an entity that is tied to developments in technology, which means constant change in line with innovation.

Of course this is great news for the music listener, but detrimental to record companies who are collectively slow in adapting their business model to match the changes. The ease at which an entire album can be downloaded illegally onto multiple devices in present day is staggering, especially when it can be done for free (minus download data of course).
