Laurence Fishburne might be best known for his movie roles, but he's had a prestigious TV career as well. The actor has won six Emmy awards since he started back in the early 1970s and has appeared in a slew of well-known series, playing Cowboy Curtis in "Pee-wee's Playhouse," Jack Crawford in NBC's "Hannibal," and Earl Johnson in ABC's "Black-ish." Though he didn't win an Emmy for what was at the time his biggest TV role, Fishburne also starred in the CBS crime drama show "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" for multiple seasons, replacing the series' previous star William Petersen.
Petersen's Gil Grissom had been the series lead ever since the "CSI" pilot back in 2000. But with the actor set to depart the show in December 2008, the show's creatives pulled off a real coup by landing Fishburne as a replacement. The Oscar-nominated star of such classics as "Apocalypse Now" (which...

Live-action superhero movies may dominate the box office, but there's something to be said about adapting a beloved hero into an animated television series. A 22-episode season (remember those?) allows for a greater variety of stories to be told week to week (instead of waiting years on end to get a sequel). And while Marvel has (somewhat) perfected the idea of a cinematic universe, an animated series can dive into the wilder, often stranger mythos of these characters without getting bogged down in questions like, "Will this alienate a wider audience?"
With that in mind, it's no wonder why there have been so many acclaimed DC and Marvel cartoons over the years. Some might say these animated adaptations are the definitive source for these characters, perfectly translating them into another medium without losing what made them special in the first place. With an equal representation from each of the big...

Rachel Brosnahan scored another win in 2025 after Superman‘s success, as her $96 million spy thriller, The Amateur, took the top spot on Disney+. According to Flix Patrol, the Rami Malek-starrer has been on the top ten list on the streamer for the past few days, following its debut on streaming on July 17. It also topped the charts in the month, beating out movies like Captain America: Brave New World.
Brosnahan has had a great year with Superman receiving great reviews and kickstarting the Dcu. After playing short roles on Grey’s Anatomy, The Blacklist, Black Box, and Gossip Girl, Brosnahan hit it big with House of Cards and then later with The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel, which got her two Golden Globes and Emmys. She now plays Lois Lane in the Dcu.

‘Hannibal’ aired on network TV, but it always felt like a streaming show.
Prime Video has made a name for itself with bold, bloody hits like “The Boys,” but there’s another, much darker (and just as bloodstained) show you might have missed. “Hannibal” somehow aired on network TV, and it’s still one of the wildest, most hypnotic dramas I’ve ever seen. Stylish, disturbing, and kind of beautiful in a way that feels totally wrong, this show centers on a charming upper-crust cannibal who eats people with impeccable manners… and somehow you can’t look away. It’s a cult favorite for a reason, and now that all three seasons are streaming on Prime Video, it’s time more people gave this twisted masterpiece the attention it deserves.

Hollywood can be a capricious place, so there's truly no shortage of stories about actors whose starring roles changed seemingly on a whim. For every time a casting idea works out, there are dozens of "what-ifs," like when Val Kilmer almost had the role of Morpheus in "The Matrix" before Laurence Fishburne came along. When it came to the now-classic 1973 comedy caper "The Sting," however, there were a whole bunch of potential big name stars up for roles, and they all almost exclusively turned down the film. Since "The Sting" went on to win seven Academy Awards and has become quite beloved over the years, those actors who turned down roles might have some regrets about it... unless they happen to be Jack Nicholson.

Doug Jones might be one of the most recognizable actors you’ve never recognized. At FanX's Tampa Bay Comic-Con, in Tampa, Florida, the beloved creature performer sat down with Collider’s Maggie Lovitt to reflect on his time as the Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, being dubbed over in multiple roles, and the documentary about his career, aptly titled Get Me Doug Jones. Looking back on his superhero stint in the early 2000s — before the Marvel Studios machine reshaped the genre — Jones was gleeful about stepping into the world of comics.
“Are you kidding me? I mean, I had been in Batman Returns years before that, like back in the early ‘90s,” he said. “Something about the comic book genre that makes you kind of go, yeah. Because, you know, when you flip through comic books as a kid, and now you're in the movie of that thing,...

The 21st century has been the perfect period for both horror shows and revivals. In terms of horror, the genre has thrived on TV and in theaters, as new IPs are rising to prominence. The Walking Dead, Stranger Things, and The Last of Us are the most obvious examples, but there has also been Evil, Preacher, Wednesday, and more.
Yet, for all that horror shows have been thriving, they have also been suffering early endings. Many shows are being canceled too soon, and Evil, Warrior Nun, and Lovecraft Country are just some of their number. Other series are also ending soon, including Stranger Things and the gory show, The Boys.
Some of these canceled shows saw an appropriate conclusion. Evil had enough advanced warning that allowed the creators to wrap up most storylines, and Warrior Nun viewers launched a public campaign that led to a revival. One horror show, however,...

In “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” Marvel’s First Family faces off against the walking, talking, planet-eating Galactus for the first time — sort of. Though the cosmic devourer has appeared in a Marvel film before, Matt Shakman’s latest entry to the MCU marks the first time an actor has actually portrayed Galactus.
When the Fantastic Four meet Galactus, they are faced with a colossal man in purple garb with a tuning fork helmet. Despite the visual silliness of this character, his immense size and booming, theater-shaking voice immediately establish a threat unlike the Four have ever faced.
But who lent their voice to give Galactus such gravitas? Read on to meet the man behind the planet eater.
Who plays Galactus in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”
To play Galactus, Marvel Studios tapped Ralph Ineson, a Robert Eggers regular and rising horror icon known for “The Witch,” “The First Omen” and “Nosferatu.

The new trailer for a raw documentary about Francis Ford Coppola's self-financed passion project, Megalopolis, reveals the epic production behind the 2024 flop. The five-time Oscar winner spent $120 million to fund the movie that took him over 40 years to make. With an idea first conceived in 1977, the Godfather filmmaker began writing the script in 1983, but it wasn't until last year that the movie finally made it into the theaters.
Megalopolis' star-studded cast features Adam Driver, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Giancarlo Esposito, Laurence Fishburne, and many others. However, despite the star power and Coppola's reputation, the movie faced a series of challenges in marketing and only grossed around $14 million against a massive budget.

"The magic and making of Francis Ford Coppola's epic Megalopolis." Utopia has revealed the first look teaser trailer for a new making of documentary film titled Megadoc, from director Mike Figgis. This mega documentary is trying to be the Hearts of Darkness (which was a look at Coppola's troubled Apocalypse Now set) for Megalopolis, which opened in theaters last year. The only problem is that Megalopolis not only flopped big time, but it's just not a good movie by any measure, and Coppola needs to accept this. I get that he spent tons of money on it, and he's trying to be bold and provocative again, but it's a complete mess and most people don't care about it (unlike with Apocalypse Now). This Megadoc features appearances by Francis Ford Coppola (but of course!), Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, Nathalie Emmanuel, Dustin Hoffman, Giancarlo Esposito, Chloe Fineman, Shia Labeouf, Laurence Fishburne,...

There are the famous Avengers — guys like Thor and Captain America. Then there are the less obvious ones. We're talking about the guys on the periphery. Sometimes they're less important. At other times, they're literally too small to see. They're the ones who spend time off the radar (because they're on house arrest). They're often mistaken at restaurants for Spider-Man. In a compound word, they're Ant-Man.
Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is an unsung hero of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In his own franchise, the reformed convict cheerfully does the right thing. He also plays a critical role in the larger "Avengers" timeline and is passionately Team Captain America. But what are Lang's best and worst moments in the MCU? Let's rank the "Ant-Man" movies from worst to first. We'll include his appearances in other full-length feature films besides his eponymous entries — but not multiverse shows like "What If...?"

Spoilers for "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" follow.
"The Fantastic Four: First Steps" makes a second go at adapting the "Galactus Trilogy." Published in "Fantastic Four" #48-50, the arc is the storytelling midpoint (but arguable quality high point) of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's 100+ issue run on "Fantastic Four." The scope of the story seems quaint now, but in 1966? When comic issues were expected to be standalone? A three-part story was a big deal, especially since Galactus (who threatened to destroy the whole world) was a bigger threat than the F4 had ever faced.
The 2007 film "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" is no-one's favorite Marvel movie, and it's generally considered to have bungled adapting this story. Galactus himself is only onscreen for about two minutes and was bafflingly reinterpreted not as a booming, armored titan, but as a giant cloud. Not so here. In "First Steps," Galactus...

The Silver Surfer is finally back in theaters. But fans expecting the familiar silver-skinned alien, Norrin Radd, are in for a surprise. The new Marvel movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces a very different version of the cosmic character, and it’s getting a lot of attention.
This fresh reboot of Marvel’s First Family comes with a brand-new cast. Pedro Pascal plays Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby takes on the role of Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn is Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach plays Ben Grimm. For the first time in a movie, we also get to see Franklin Richards, the superpowered baby of the group.
But that’s not all. The film also brings back two major cosmic forces from Marvel Comics, Galactus, the planet-eating giant, and his silver-skinned herald, the Silver Surfer. This time, though, things are different. The Silver Surfer isn’t Norrin Radd. Instead, it’s Shalla-Bal,...

After nearly 20 years, the Silver Surfer is back on the big screen — though, probably not the one you expect.
“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” reboots Marvel’s First Family with an all-new, all-different cast: Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing. The film also introduces a fifth member of the Fantastic Four family for the first time, with baby Franklin Richards finally joining the group. But the cast of heroes and villains doesn’t stop there.
Matt Shakman’s “Fantastic Four: First Steps” also features the return of the cosmic being Galactus and his enigmatic herald, the Silver Surfer. In the film, the Fantastic Four face off against the Silver Surfer and Galactus as the world devourer threatens the safety of their planet — and their family.

‘Outlander’ At Comic-Con: Starz Drops First Look At 8th & Final Season; Droughtlander To End In 2026
Outlander fans took over San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H on Friday, when series executive producers Matthew B. Roberts, Maril Davis and Sam Heughan, who also stars, took the stage. They were joined by co-stars Sophie Skelton (Brianna MacKenzie) and Richard Rankin (Roger MacKenzie).
Starz dropped a teaser trailer going back in time to where it all began. However, and with no surprise, Droughtlander will continue until early 2026. Following the Season 7 finale cliffhanger, the video teases Jamie Fraser’s (Heughan) possible fate.
Unfortunately, Caitríona Balfe, who has played Claire Fraser since the show’s inception, was unable to attend the panel as she’s in production on a new project. She did pre-record a personal video message that sent fans into a roar of applause.

Having recently overtaken Keanu Reeves' blockbuster John Wick: Chapter 4 at the global box office, the sports drama F1 has now passed the lifetime worldwide haul of Reeves' most acclaimed film, The Matrix. Released in 1999, the science-fiction action film established him as a movie star, and announced the arrival of the Wachowski sisters as filmmakers to watch out for. The movie spawned three sequels, and grossed $466 million worldwide. This benchmark has now been overtaken by F1, which debuted in theaters around a month ago.
F1has generated a total of $467 million globally, and is racing towards the coveted $500 million mark. If it crosses $531 million, it'll become the highest-grossing film in star Brad Pitt's career, beating World War Z. Set against the backdrop of a high-stakes Formula One season, the movie follows an aging racer who is plucked from obscurity by his old friend, and asked to help revitalize a failing team.

Marvel's First Family has finally returned to the big screen. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is in theaters now. In the lead up to Marvel Studios’ latest film, there was a ton of merchandise for fans to gush over. The retro-future vibe of the film worked in the marketing's favor, but you can't beat the classic source material. Now McFarlane Toys is back with their latest Marvel Comics figure.
A part of McFarlane's posed figure collection, their new 1:6th scale figure is of The Silver Surfer. Specifically, this is based on the cover of Fantastic Four #72. The figure will also come with a re-printed issue of that iconic comic. Silver Surfer now joins The Human Torch and The Thing in McFarlane's Marvel series.

Francis Ford Coppola’s controversial “Megalopolis” production is now being given the documentary treatment. Mike Figgis directs “Megadoc” about the making of Coppola’s self-funded $120 million epic. While the buzzy cast included a slew of “canceled” actors as well as beloved stars, the feature was plagued with allegations of wild on-set antics and unwanted advances against extras (Coppola has denied the claims.) Figgis, meanwhile, was on set to capture it all.
“Megadoc” is billed as an “unfiltered” look into Coppola’s “Megalopolis” and the auteur’s creative process as a whole. The official synopsis for “Megadoc” reads: “A raw, fly-on-the-wall documentary about Francis Ford Coppola’s decades-long journey in creating his self-financed passion project, ‘Megalopolis.’ The bold and unrelenting epic returns in Mike Figgis’ portrait of Coppola’s creative process – weaving together archival material, unfiltered cast interviews, and a close-up view of how the legendary filmmaker drew from Roman history,...

I’ve yet to see The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but it seems that the movie, which comes out today, might have finally gotten things right after four truly terrible previous films. First there was the low-budget, never-released Roger Corman-produced film in 1994 made simply to hold onto the film rights of the characters. Then, in 2005, came Fox’s near-universally panned movie by Tim Story and its 2007 sequel that did about as well as the first. Most recently, there was the stupidly-titled 2015 Fant4stic that everyone hated even more than the two Fox films from a decade earlier.
Still, I’d argue that none of these four films are entirely without merit. Here’s one actually fantastic thing from each of them…
[subtitle]4Young Reed and Ben Are Charming in ‘Fant4stic’[/subtitl35the]
While Fant4stic isn’t the worst Fantastic Four movie (that distinction belongs to the 1994 Corman film), it’s the hardest to...

A year ago, Francis Ford Coppola, the legendary director behind classics like “The Godfather” and “Apocalypse Now,” released his sci-fi epic “Megalopolis.”
The film, which tells the story of a visionary architect fighting a corrupt politician to rebuild a city after a disaster, didn’t get the warm welcome Coppola hoped for. Despite spending $120 million of his own money, the movie struggled to find an audience.
Coppola premiered “Megalopolis” at Cannes, hoping for a big success, but the reaction was mostly confusion. Lionsgate later picked up the film and released it in theaters in May 2025, where it ran for 138 minutes.
Unfortunately, it only made about $7 million. After that, Lionsgate pulled the film from theaters, gave the rights back to Coppola, and no streaming or Blu-ray releases followed. The movie can’t even be rented on Amazon anymore, with the listing showing “rights expired.”
But Coppola isn’t giving up. At 85 years old,...

It’s no stretch to say that cinematic adaptations of the Fantastic Four have been off to a rocky start. The team has been brought to screen a few times already, with a 1990s film rendered culturally invisible and a 2015 franchise attempt doomed from the beginning. Although 2005’s “Fantastic Four” received a sequel, a planned third film ultimately burst into flames.
That brings us to “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” the fourth go at bringing Marvel’s First Family to the big screen. Directed by “WandaVision” helmer Matt Shakman, the film introduces the superhero team to the MCU in an alternate retro-futuristic 1960s landscape.
In the film, the team of Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/The Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) face off against the cosmic world-eating being Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his herald,...

Francis Ford Coppola is already planning to re-release “Megalopolis.” The auteur has famously recut a slew of his most iconic features, including “Apocalypse Now.” Soon, “Megalopolis” will also be revisited in the edit room, with Coppola teasing that the proudly Razzie award-winning epic will be “more weird” with the recut.
“It was [originally] more weird,” Coppola said during the New Jersey leg of his tour for the 2024 film (via the World of Reel). “I own the picture, I can do anything I want with it.” The recut will include added deleted dream sequences that will make the film “weirder.”
Coppola said that he cut certain sequences from the final film “because already people were saying this film was so weird.”
“Megalopolis” stars Adam Driver as architect Cesar Catilina, who strives to create a utopian city while battling Mayor Franklyn Cicero (Giancarlo Esposito). Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, and Aubrey Plaza...

In the 2000s, millennials crowned auburn-haired Lindsay Lohan as the teen idol of the era. Unfortunately, like many child stars, Lohan had a difficult time in the industry and took a decade-long break in the 2010s. Still, her films from the late 1990s and mid-2000s remain generational touchstones and comedy classics.
Lohan's more grown-up work is less popular, though there are a few gems in her filmography that she deserves more credit for. More recently, Lohan launched something of a comeback with her series of popular Netflix films, putting her name back on the proverbial marquee once more.
Films aimed at kids and teens aren't always given serious consideration, and Lohan hasn't had the easiest time pleasing critics and keeping the press on her side. In fact, it's high time we evaluate Lohan's work with clear eyes and enough hindsight to recognize her talent and charisma for what it is.

Before Rachel Brosnahan starred in DC's Superman as Lois Lane, she played the wife of Rami Malek in the 2025 action thriller, The Amateur. Now that The Amateur has entered the streaming market, it didn't take long for it to become a hit on streaming platforms.

There are many reasons for an actor to leave a popular show or an interesting project. Charle Barnett's Peter Mills was written out of "Chicago Fire" to make room for other characters. Barbie Ferreira left "Euphoria" because her character Kat Hernandez had limited storyline options left.
Sometimes, the departure of a star whom fans saw as key to a show's popularity might be a simple contract issue. For instance, Regé-Jean Page's Simon Basset left "Bridgerton" simply because his contract was up and the esteemed Duke of Hastings opted to go explore other things. A similar thing happened with Gina Torres, who starred in the USA Network legal drama "Suits" as Jessica Pearson for six seasons before departing the show in 2016. In an interview with The New York Times, Torres confirmed that her exit was the simple matter of her contract ending:

With John Wick 5 in the works at Lionsgate, fans of the titular action franchise are getting another way to feed their anticipation for the next sequel. John Wick enthusiasts will soon be able to watch all four movies on Hulu.
As confirmed by Hulu, all four John Wick films will become available on the Disney-owned streaming service beginning Aug. 15, 2025. Hulu is the second streamer to have access every John Wick movie; Peacock unveiled the franchise in May 2025.
Starring Keanu Reeves as the eponymous professional hitman fighting for a new purpose, John Wick nearly didn't get off the ground after the first film yielded underwhelming test screenings and faced pushback from Lionsgate executives about its most harrowing scene. But it eventually became a massive success, with the film earning critical and commercial acclaim.
John Wick: Chapter 2 and John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum continued the momentum before Chapter 4 took the film series into the stratosphere.

DC Comics is getting a new franchise with James Gunn's DC Universe, which has officially kicked off with Superman. However, before the new franchise, it was Zack Snyder's time to shine.
In 2013, Snyder was at the helm of another film that rebooted the universe: Man of Steel. The film came after the success of Christopher Nolan's critically acclaimed The Dark Knight trilogy, and kicked off the DC Extended Universe, which lasted for a decade until 2023. Although there's a new Superman out in theaters, Man of Steel has found a new life on streaming, enjoying a newfound popularity on HBO Max, FlixPatrol reports.
Man of Steel is currently in seventh place on Max's global Top 10, just ahead of Grown Ups 2, Anora, and 21 Jump Street. The film's popularity is not surprising because the Snyderverse, which is what Zack Snyder's vision during his time at Warner Bros. is called,...

Stars: Rami Malek, Rachel Brosnahan, Laurence Fishburne, Caitríona Balfe, Jon Bernthal, Michael Stuhlbarg, Adrian Martinez, Holt McCallany, Julianne Nicholson, Danny Sapani, Barbara Probst, Marc Rismann, Joseph Millson | Written by Ken Nolan, Gary Spinelli, Robert Littell | Directed by James Hawes
Rami Malek stars as a tech genius CIA agent gone rogue in The Amateur, a ridiculous, but nonetheless entertaining thriller that could easily have been titled Revenge of the Nerd. As such, it has its fair share of good moments, but it’s also not without its flaws.
Malek plays Charlie Heller, a vaguely on-the-spectrum CIA surveillance expert, whose life is brutally upended when his beloved wife Sarah (Rachel Brosnahan) is taken hostage and murdered by terrorists while on a business trip in London. When his CIA bosses (Holt McCallany and Danny Sapani) refuse to go after the people responsible, a vengeful Charlie blackmails them into giving him special ops training...

It’s been a long time coming, but The Fantastic Four: First Steps marks the debut of Marvel’s First Family in the MCU. Aside from Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Richards, Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm, the ’60s era superhero film features Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer and Ralph Ineson as Galactus. Image Credit: Marvel Ahead of The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ premiere, Fortress of Solitude spoke to Garner and Ineson to find out more about their experiences. One of the questions we simply had to ask was if Garner managed to catch up with Laurence Fishburne and Doug Jones who played the Norrin Radd version of the Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. “No, I wish,” Garner said. “I’m such a fan of both of them, so that would have been amazing,...

Julia Garner is responding to criticism.
The 31-year-old The Fantastic Four: First Steps responded to some grumbling about the idea of her playing a gender-swapped Silver Surfer in the upcoming Marvel movie.
During an appearance at the movie’s premiere in London, Julia was asked about the idea that a man should play Silver Surfer.
“I said, ‘I’m just going to still do my job,’” she said of the backlash, via BBC, adding that she didn’t pay much attention to the discourse and focused on delivering her best version of the character.
She also noted that she plays a variation on the character, adding, “Also, it’s Shalla-Bal, so it’s different.”
Shalla-Bal first appeared in “The Silver Surfer” #1 in 1968, and is the female counterpart to Norrin Radd, who was featured in 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. In that movie, he was played by Doug Jones...
