Quentin Tarantino followed his one pattern from Pulp Fiction in his 1997 film Jackie Brown and it was to cast a fallen actor in the lead role. While he picked John Travolta in the former film, it was Pam Grier’s turn in Jackie Brown. At that point, she didn’t have a major role since doing the Blaxploitation films in the ’70s like Foxy Brown and Coffy.

Grier delivered a once-in-a-lifetime performance as the lead character in the film. She outperformed every single one of her co-stars and that’s telling because her co-stars were the late Robert Forster, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert De Niro, Bridget Fonda, and Michael Keaton.

Sadly, this performance was overlooked by the Academy at the 70th Oscars in 1998. Grier was a fan-favorite to win the Best Actress Award which made her snub from the nominations infuriating for movie-goers.

Streaming platforms have a habit of reviving long forgotten or hardly spoken about movies from the past, and that is true of the 2001 Kung-Fu action movie Kiss of the Dragon entering the Top 10 on Tubi after landing on the platform. Four films by the master of modern cinema, Quentin Tarantino, are set to be released on 4K very soon. The director of films like Inglourious Basterds is embracing technology by entering the 4K era of new transfers and restoration.

The four films by Tarantino that will see their 4K release soon are Jackie Brown, Reservoir Dogs and both volumes of Kill Bill in steelbook versions with brand-new artwork. On February 19, 1993, the third entry in director Sam Raimi‘s Evil Dead franchise – Army of Darkness (watch it Here) – reached theatres. Lionsgate has something special in store for fans of Quentin Tarantino movies this month. Four of his best movies are getting all-new 4K Uhd releases, which includes some of them debuting on the format.

On Jan. 21, Lionsgate will release Jackie Brown along with Kill Bill Volume 1 and Kill Bill Volume 2, marking the debut of these movies on 4K Uhd. Also getting released on that date is the re-printed release of his first feature film, Reservoir Dogs, with all three getting limited edition collectible SteelBooks. Jackie Brown and the Kill Bill films will also be given standard national retail releases.

One of the most panned movies in the repertoire of the late, great Robin Williams has now been given a new appraisal by Academy Award nominee and Challengers director Luca Guadagnino. In an interview with Sight and Sound, the filmmaker jumped to the defense of Williams and director Francis Ford Coppola’s 1996 coming-of-age comedy-drama, Jack, which finds Williams playing a young boy who, due to a rare genetic condition, looks like a man in his mid-40s.
