Redemption Day, the 2021 Moroccan-American action thriller starring Andy García and Gary Dourdan, has unexpectedly surged into the Amazon Prime global Top 10, despite holding a dismal 14% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and just 4.5/10 on IMDb ratings.

The film, helmed and written by Hicham Hajji, follows a U.S. Marine captain who must rescue his kidnapped wife in Morocco, a plot that’s resonating far more with international audiences than critics probably ever anticipated. This week, it entered the Prime Video Top 10 in 13 countries, including major Latin American markets like Brazil, Argentina, and Peru per FlixPatrol. The strongest traction is coming from Central and South America, where the film has maintained consistent chart positions across the week.

Not just that,Redemption Day has also reached the Top 5 in Bolivia, Ecuador, Honduras, and Nicaragua, with Ecuador and Guatemala charting it for a full seven days. Costa Rica and Brazil also joined the rankings later in the week.

Billy Bob Thornton is back in his boots. Paramount+’s Landman has officially returned to production for Season 2, and the first set images from this week’s shoot in Dallas prove that Tommy Norris isn’t hanging up his hat anytime soon. Spotted filming Monday morning in the city’s upscale Knox District, Thornton was seen outside the Michelin-recommended restaurant Mister Charles, flanked by extras and dressed in a denim-blazer combo and signature cowboy hat. Production ran between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m., according to notices obtained by The Dallas Morning News, with filming continuing later into the afternoon in Dallas’ Arts District.

Though the shoot wasn’t open to the public, curious pedestrians lined the sidewalk, catching glimpses of the Landman crew, the cast, and the logistical operation that shut down traffic in both directions on Knox Street between Travis and Cole. Flora Street and Crockett Street were also cordoned off nearby.

Despite high hopes and a full-court press by Landman stars like Billy Bob Thornton, Sheridan’s latest hit was completely shut out of the major Emmy categories when nominations were announced Tuesday morning. And it wasn’t the only one. Not a single one of the six Sheridan-created dramas currently on the air — including Mayor of Kingstown, Yellowstone, 1923, Tulsa King, Lioness, and Landman — landed a single nod in a marquee category like acting, writing, or directing. It’s a curious twist of fate for a film that Jason Statham himself admits didn’t “feel right” to shoot — mainly due to the limited involvement of franchise patriarch Sylvester Stallone, as Statham told Cinema Express.

“In this particular story, he is absent for reasons we don't talk about. There is something about not having him around that doesn't feel right. So, we are getting through... but the best days are when he is on set.”
