How Christopher Judge Really Felt About Working With Louis Gossett Jr. On Stargate Sg-1
Image
"Stargate Sg-1" had some impressive guest stars throughout its 10 season run. Take Louis Gossett Jr., who passed away in March 2024 at the age of 87, for example. The veteran star played Jaffa politician Gerak in five episodes during season 9 but had been acting for decades by the time he debuted on "Sg-1."

Appearing in plays throughout the 1960s, Gossett Jr. came to prominence in the 1970s, landing the role of Fiddler in 1977 TV miniseries "Roots" and earning himself an Emmy win for Outstanding Lead Actor for a Single Appearance in a Drama or Comedy Series. After that early triumph, he continued to appear in films and TV series, most notably playing Gunnery Sergeant Emil Foley in Taylor Hackford's 1982 romantic drama "An Officer and a Gentleman." For his performance, Gossett Jr, won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, becoming the first Black actor to win the award in that category Gossett...

Louis Gossett Jr: Five Great Roles
Image
Last year, veteran character actor Louis Gossett Jr, who got his acting start in Broadway productions back in 1950s (including Take a Giant Step and a 1959 production of A Raisin in the Sun where he shared the stage with Sidney Poitier), passed away at 87. While we have to get used to the fact that our favorite actors are all human, and like all of us, eventually pass away, it can’t help but hurt anytime we lose a legend like this. But he leaves behind a rich legacy, so let’s look back at five of his coolest roles.

An Officer and a Gentleman:

Louis Gossett Jr. won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Gunnery Sergeant Emil Foley in this, and became the first African-American actor to win an Academy Award in that category in the process. Next to R. Lee Ermey in Full Metal Jacket,...

'1 of the Most Loyal Friends I've Ever Had': Charlize Theron Praises Keanu Reeves 28 Years After Their First Film
Image
Charlize Theron and Keanu Reeves have been Hollywood pals since the 1990s with both going on to garner immense success in their respective careers. While the two haven't appeared in a movie together in many years, Theron described how Reeves remains one of her most loyal friends, teasing that they could co-star in a third film together one day.

Theron discussed her friendship with Reeves in a new interview with THR. She was asked about a comment she'd made in a previous interview where she claimed Reeves was the person most likely not to show up for a dinner party of hers. Theron explained that she'd only meant that Reeves is an "enigma," making what he does unpredictable. Theron clarified that she thinks the world of Reeves, referring to him as one of the most "loyal" people she's known for the past three decades.

"He definitely goes by his own clock,...

The Enduring Appeal of Stephen King Adaptations Has Made Him a $3 Billion Box Office Legend
Image
Earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, TheWrap asked Cynthia Erivo if there was a character that she would want to revisit.

The actress did not hesitate. Holly Gibney, she responded, the oddball private detective in HBO’s “The Outsider” who originated in a series of Stephen King novels.

“The Outsider” is one of more than 50 novels by the prolific King that have been translated into big and small screen stories, earning a staggering $3 billion and counting at the box office.

With Mike Flanagan’s “The Life of Chuck,” based on a story from King’s 2020 collection “If It Bleeds,” just hitting theaters after having won the Audience Award at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival and several more high-profile adaptations on the way, including a “Carrie” TV series and a new version of “The Running Man,” the 77-year-old author is as popular as he’s ever been.

Charlize Theron Could Have Ended Her Career With This Box Office Flop
Image
Like most recognizable movie stars, it took many years for Charlize Theron to become an overnight sensation. Her first film role was that of an unnamed, non-speaking extra in James D.R. Hickox's 1995 slasher sequel "Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest," a film Theron remembers well. She chased that with the 1996 mid-budget neo-noir "2 Days in the Valley," in which she played the girlfriend of a gangster portrayed by James Spader. With her foot in the studio door, she began turning up in multiple high-profile nationwide releases like "Trial and Error," and "That Thing You Do!," but she really caught a lot of attention for her impassioned performance in Taylor Hackford's 1997 demonic thriller "The Devil's Advocate." After that, she was pretty much a celebrity. Indeed, she even played a celebrity in Woody Allen's 1998 film "Celebrity."

The same year she was in "Urban Harvest," though, Theron had an...

One Of Kevin Costner's Best Sports Movies Was Rejected By Nearly Every Studio
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Ron Shelton's "Bull Durham" is a shaggy wonder. It's a sports film that is wholly disinterested in winning or losing — at least when it comes to the playing field. There is competition in the film, but it's for a place in the bed of Susan Sarandon's baseball groupie/guru Annie Savoy, and even this competition is over pretty quickly. Kevin Costner's journeyman Crash Davis, a nearly washed-up catcher who once spent 21 glorious days in the majors (aka "the show"), cedes Annie to Ebby Calvin "Nuke" Laloosh, a fireball-hurling phenom with a "ten-cent brain," because he's appalled by her romantic interest in an imbecile. But Crash and Annie form a partnership of sorts via their shared education of Ebby Calvin. The sole reason Crash has been brought to the minor league Durham Bulls is to mold this knucklehead into a big-league stud.

Why A Rotten Jason Statham Crime Thriller Was A Bigger Deal Than You Realized
Image
There is very little that is remarkable about Taylor Hackford's 2013 actioner "Parker" starring Jason Statham. The title character is, like so many action movie protagonists before him, defined largely by his taciturn and steely demeanor and doesn't have a lot of whimsy or personality beyond that. Parker is a thief, but he is defined by an unshakable code of ethics and believes in sticking to well laid-out plans. He's not a hothead or impulsive. In other words: he's kind of boring. It also doesn't help that "Parker" has a predictable plot stretched out across a dull screenplay. The film came and went without fanfare, a January release to its very core.

"Parker" made $46.9 million at the box office on a $35 million budget, which is a bomb on a Hollywood ledger. It was only lukewarmly received by critics, sporting a 41% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes (based on 105 reviews). Peter Sobczynski's review for RogerEbert.

The New Stunt Oscar Will Likely Morph Into Best Action Design
Image
It finally happened. The Academy announced yesterday that the 2028 Oscar ceremony will hand out the first-ever Best Stunt Design award at the 100th anniversary of the Academy Awards. It’s a move that started to feel inevitable two years ago with the creation of the new Production and Technology Academy branch, which includes stunt professionals and supplied the necessary pathway for the creation of a new category.

The stunt community’s campaign to be part of the Academy in many ways followed the path set by the casting directors, which will premiere its Best Casting Oscar category at the 2026 ceremony. Like the casting directors, it was a fight for recognition of their contributions, and to emerge from the shadows of a profession that has drastically evolved in the last few decades.

In the case of the casting directors, it was the collapse of the studio system and actors being under contract,...

Jason Statham’s 48% Rotten Tomatoes Action Caper With Jennifer Lopez Has Parked on a New Streamer’s Top 10
Image
One of Jason Statham’s action movies that celebrated its 10th anniversary a few years ago has returned to streaming charts. Statham stars opposite Jennifer Lopez in Parker, the 2013 heist caper film following a thief with a unique code of ethics who is double-crossed and left for dead by his crew. After assuming a new disguise and connecting with a woman on the inside, he begins his mission to take his old crew’s newest score. Wendell Pierce, Nick Nolte, Bobby Cannavale, and Patti LuPone also star in Parker, which earned “rotten” scores of 41% from critics and 48% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Parker premiered on Tubi on April 1 and has made its way to the #3 spot on the streamer’s charts.

John McLaughlin wrote the script for Parker, which is based on the novel Flashfire by Donald E. Westlake, which he wrote under the pen name Richard Stark. McLaughlin worked...

Jason Statham's Stylish Heist Movie With Jennifer Lopez Is Finding An Audience On Tubi
Image
Of all the free streaming services with two-syllable nonsense names, Tubi is emerging as the most popular. The platform, which is owned by the Fox Corporation, has the most monthly active users of any ad-supported streaming platform, with 97 million. It's also a goldmine of beloved TV shows from decades ago. You can watch everything from "Gilligan's Island" to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" on Tubi, and the ad breaks are mercifully few and far between. Tubi also has some great horror movies, which altogether makes the platform a somewhat attractive proposition.

Much like the paid streamers, Tubi also tracks trending entertainment, and it seems Jason Statham is the latest star to see one of his movies rise up the rankings on the free streamer. But he hasn't done it alone. The British action star has had a bit of help from Jennifer Lopez, with the pair's 2013 action thriller, "Parker," managing to...

Jason Statham Action Thriller 'Parker' Hits Free Streaming in April
Image
Whether he’s an ex-assassin-turned-beekeeper, or an assassin posing as a mechanic, an ex- Special Forces soldier dragged out of retirement for one last mission, or even just a run-of-the-mill unlicensed street salesman, Jason Statham always brings a gritty magnetism to the screen. Even when what’s playing on the screen has been panned by both critics and audiences alike. Such is the case with the 2013 action thriller, Parker, which is now headed to free streaming.

But, while Parker may have been panned at the time, it’s worth a watch for anyone looking for a reliably charming performance from The Stath, who once again demonstrates his particular set of skills in this tale of a professional thief who finds himself double-crossed and left for dead.

Directed by Taylor Hackford and written by John J. McLaughlin, Parker sees Jason Statham team-up with Jennifer Lopez while facing off against The Shield star Michael Chiklis.

'Dolores Claiborne' Audition Ended with Kathy Bates Consoling Christina Ricci
Image
Christina Ricci is a Hollywood star who has grown up in the spotlight, but she is also someone who has avoided many of the issues faced by stars who hit the high life too young. After her breakout role in 1991's The Addams Family, many would have thought that the Goth-like teen would swerve towards a more "problematic" lifestyle. However, it all turned out great for the actress, and listening to the advice of her peers certainly played a big part of that. In Ricci's case, this advice arrived when she was just a teenager auditioning for a Stephen King movie.

Ricci was recently the recipient of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, 35 years after she debuted alongside Cher and Winona Ryder in the comedy-drama Mermaids. Today, Ricci is still very active in both films and television. She had a major role in Netflix's Wednesday, the...

Christina Ricci never wants to play a mother
Christina Ricci never wants to play a mother onscreen. The 45-year-old 'Yellowjackets' actress - who has a son from her marriage to James Heerdegen and a daughter with current husband Mark Hampton - has admitted her feelings about being a real life mom are too "personal and precious" to share with the world so she doesn't want to take on a role that would "exploit" them. She told Variety: "I don’t really ever wanna play a mother on camera. I guess maybe the way I feel about motherhood is to me so personal and precious, and I don’t ever wanna exploit it, if that sounds right. "I think it’s easier to use emotions that you’re having way after the fact, and right now being a mom and being in it and having so many feelings about it, I feel like it would be too much to actually do anything.

The Best Music Biopic Of All Time Is Completely Inaccurate (And That's Fine)
Image
Every year, Hollywood pumps out at least one or two musician biopics. Last year alone saw the release of "Back to Black," a portrait of the late Amy Winehouse, and the Oscar-nominated "A Complete Unknown," the Bob Dylan origin story as told by James Mangold. It's easy to understand why we keep getting these films: they're pretty popular. Sure, some of them flop, but more often than not, there seems to be an insatiable hunger from the public to watch actors slap on a wig and do an impression of a famous singer. And studios are often all-in because not only are there box office dollars at work, but if filmmakers and actors play their cards right, awards season glory comes calling.

"Bohemian Rhapsody," the 2018 film about Queen singer Freddie Mercury, did boffo box office and scored several nominations, winning Rami Malek a Best Actor trophy, and all of this...

25 Years On, It's Clear Russell Crowe and Meg Ryan’s Messy, Smart, and Controversial Thriller Didn't Deserve the Hate
Image
When Proof of Life landed in theaters in December 2000, it had everything a Hollywood hit was supposed to have. Warner Bros. had pumped a massive $63 million into it. Russell Crowe was fresh off Gladiator, riding the high of his Oscar win. Meg Ryan was still America’s rom-com queen. At the film's helm was the Oscar-winning director Taylor Hackford. On paper, this should have been a slam dunk. But instead of glory all through, Proof of Life bombed at the box office, grossing just under its budget and equally didn't excite critics, earning a meager 39% on Rotten Tomatoes. Most people barely remember the movie itself—because it got swallowed whole by the off-screen drama. Crowe and Ryan’s affair, which kicked off during production, was all anyone could talk about.

Keanu Reeves is one of the most extraordinary movie stars of the past several decades, as he has managed to earn both legitimate praise and ironic appreciation. Although he began appearing in heartthrob roles just as the “Brat Pack” era began its decline, Reeves would become one of the definitive action stars of his generation alongside Tom Cruise and Wesley Snipes. In between his major sequels, Reeves still found a way to take on ambitious projects from acclaimed filmmakers, such as Taylor Hackford’s unusual legal thriller “The Devil’s Advocate” and Nancy Meyers’ charming romantic-comedy “Something’s Gotta Give.”

Despite facing a brief recess in his career after a series of critical disappointments in the first half of the 21st century, Reeves launched a major comeback when the “John Wick” franchise gave him another opportunity to show his merits as an action star. Reeves is clearly passionate about both the character...

James Marsden Pitches Himself To Play Frank Sinatra: “To Do A Biopic Like What Jamie Foxx Did With Ray Charles Would Be A Lot Of Fun”
Image
James Marsden is open to playing Frank Sinatra in a biopic, like Timothée Chalamet’s portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown or Jamie Foxx’s portrayal of Ray Charles in 2004’s Ray.

In a new interview, the Paradise actor expressed his interest in playing the singer known as “The Voice” and “The Chairman of the Board.”

“I’ve always loved emulating some of the old crooners, like Bobby Darin and Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin,” the actor said in an interview with The Post. “I always thought there were so many interesting stories of Frank Sinatra’s life that could be played. And for whatever reason, you’ve never really seen a movie about him.”

He continued, “I just think there’s so many stories that could be told about that man — some of the really tortured and darker stories, and some uplifting ones as well. What he did,...

In James D.R. Hickox's 1995 horror flick "Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest," the rural mayhem of Gatlin, Nebraska is transposed to the concrete wilds of Chicago. A child cult leader named Eli (Daniel Porter) is adopted by a citybound foster mother (Nancy Lee Grahn) who is astonished by his gentle demeanor and Amish-like language. What she doesn't know is that he worships a demonic corn deity (!) called He Who Walks Behind the Rows. Said deity had been mentioned in both 1984's "Children of the Corn" and 1992's "Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice," but no one had ever seen the elusive Hwwbtr, leaving its true nature mysterious.

Eli has magical corn kernels in his possession, and he can swiftly grow and harvest a miniature corn crop in an isolated Chicago lot. This attracts both Hwwbtr and an eager cult of teen followers. Eli, like his "Corn" forebears,...

Jamie Foxx’s Oscar Win Against All Odds Will Inspire You

The Academy Awards committee recently announced their 2025 nominations for the Best Actor category. And boy oh boy, is it going to be cut-throat with the likes of Ralph Fiennes and Timothée Chalamet competing against each other. But talk of fierce competition and we’re often reminded of the 77th Academy Awards, where Jamie Foxx was pitted against veterans like Leonardo DiCaprio, Clint Eastwood, and Johnny Depp.

Yet, the actor of color who was nominated for two categories—Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, ended up emerging victorious in the stiff competition. Despite losing the supporting actor category (which seemed rather easy to win) Jamie Foxx turned the tables and took home the coveted award for Best Actor, leaving DiCaprio, Depp, and Eastwood in the dirt.

Jamie Foxx’s career is a story of versatility and transformation. Starting out in comedy, he made a name for himself with Roc (1991) and later became the star of his very own sitcom, The Jamie Foxx Show (1996). As his television career grew, Foxx started to break away from his comedic roots and shifted towards more dramatic roles in film. His talent for balancing both comedy and drama set him apart in Hollywood, establishing him as a multifaceted actor.

Yet, his biggest break came when he took on a complex role that pushed the boundaries of his acting range. Regina King movies: 11 greatest films ranked worst to best
Image
Over the course of a film career that has grown over three decades, writer/director Regina King has built one of the most impressive sets of credits of any actor working today. From her early performances in films by John Singleton, King has worked with such other distinguished directors as Cameron Crowe, Taylor Hackford and Barry Jenkins, delivering performances that have showcased her skills in comedy, romance and even action films. All of this work culminated in an Academy Award win for her stunning performance in 2018’s “If Beale Street Could Talk.”

King’s honors are not limited to her performances on the big screen, however. 'Parker' is Free Streaming Hit on Tubi for Jason Statham
Image
Everyone loves a good Jason Statham movie, and just because it is Christmas, that is apparently no reason for anyone to stop watching the British hard man do his thing in the 2013 action crime thriller, Parker. Despite being over a decade old, and boasting some poor reviews, the Taylor Hackford-directed movie is a hit again on free streaming, this time jumping into the Tubi Top 10.

In the movie, Statham takes on the titular role of a professional thief with a strict code of honor to follow. However, a little betrayal from his crew and all of that goes straight out of the window, setting Parker on a blistering journey of revenge that comes with the usual action set-pieces, hand-to-hand fist-fights, and just a little blood spillage to keep everyone happy. At least that is what seems to be happening with Tubi viewers rediscovering the film now that the festivities of Christmas are almost done.

Jamie Foxx Followed His Oscar Win With This Maligned Sci-Fi Flop
Image
Taylor Hackford's "Ray," the 2004 biography that chronicles the life of legendary musician Ray Charles, closely follows the conventions of the genre. It wears its sentimentality on its sleeve, the kind that often accompanies biographical portraits of geniuses, and uses embellishments to heighten its dramatic stakes. Despite these genre trappings, "Ray" emerges as a soulful, spirited drama because of Jamie Foxx's central performance, which oozes charisma. Foxx disappears into the role of the titular boundary-pushing artist, bringing the eccentricities of the man to life to convincing ends. The success of "Ray" can also undoubtedly be attributed to Foxx, who won a Best Actor Oscar for his work in the film. Apart from being nominated in more than five categories at the Academy Awards, "Ray" also won an Oscar for Best Sound Mixing (which is clearly deserved).

"Ray" is not the only film to showcase Foxx's incredible capacity to embody dramatic roles,...

The 13 Best Music Biopics to Watch After ‘A Complete Unknown’
Image
Let’s face it. Theatre has been the most successful place for stories about popular musicians. Alicia Keys’ “Hell’s Kitchen” is selling big on Broadway, as is “Mj.” “A Beautiful Noise,” about Neil Diamond ‘s professional and personal history, had a nice run there, and is touring the country after its run in Los Angeles. We’ve had “Tina,” “Jersey Boys,” The Temptations’ “Ain’t Too Proud,” Carole King’s “Beautiful” and others. A new musical is being tested now about Frank Sinatra. But the most exciting news arrives this spring, when recent Tony winner Jonathan Groff portrays Bobby Darin.

But movies about musical stars? A mixed bag. (including Kevin Spacey in a bad one about Bobby Darin) Documentaries have been the safest form to chronicle the life of famous musicians: Ones about David Crosby, Joan Baez, Springsteen, and Linda Ronstadt. And, of course, “Woodstock” and Martin Scorsese’s “Last Waltz.

'Raises the Game': Christopher Nolan Names His Favorite Film of 2024
Image
It's been a year filled with tremendous films, some that became major critical and commercial successes, some that failed to make a profit despite their positive reviews, and others that flopped. Christopher Nolan was among the directors who chose his favorite film and opted for a highly-anticipated sequel.

In a Variety feature with several directors choosing their favorite 2024 films, Nolan picked Gladiator II as his favorite. Ridley Scott returned to the arena 24 years after the original movie, the critically acclaimed Gladiator. With a new cast starring Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, and Denzel Washington, the sequel was enough to keep Nolan entertained.

The seven-time Oscar-winning film also has a royal fan.

A Complete Unknown Review: Timothée Chalamet Does A Pretty Good Bob Dylan Impression In This Safe But Enjoyable Biopic
Image
In 2007, Jake Kasdan's hilarious "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" arrived to take the piss out of musician biopics. Focusing on the fictional Dewey Cox (played memorably by John C. Reilly), "Walk Hard" was a parody of the musician biopic in general, but specifically lambasted the then-recent films "Ray," Taylor Hackford's flick about Ray Charles, and "Walk the Line," James Mangold's look at the life of Johnny Cash. It was a brilliant, biting send-up of everything wrong with those films: the lazy shortcuts they take in condensing a famous person's entire life, the by-the-numbers approach to an artist's rise and fall and inevitable redemption, the seemingly endless parade of familiar supporting characters who pop up and have their full, famous names uttered out loud so we know who they are. The satire and parody of "Walk Hard" is so sharp, so cutting, that one can't help but...

‘A Complete Unknown’: Don’t Think Twice, Timothée Chalamet’s Bob Dylan Biopic Is Alright

He’s just a boy from the north country — Hibbing, Minnesota, to be exact, though trust us, you do not want to get caught up in the facts here — in the back of a station wagon, hitchin’ a ride to New York City in search of a hero and a dream and maybe a couch to crash on and a record collection to absorb and a scene to dominate and a world to change. This is how we meet Robert Zimmerman, future bohemian poster-child of 1961. He ambles up to a bar in Greenwich Village,...

Jason Statham’s Forgotten 41% Rotten Tomatoes Action Romp Is Coming to Free Streaming Next Month
Image
Jason Statham is the king of taking chicken sh*t and turning it into chicken salad as his immense and magnetic charisma and bone-crunching action scenes can elevate even the most mundane of action flicks, and 2013’s Parker is no exception. Directed by Taylor Hackford (Ray) and written by John J. McLaughlin (Black Swan), Parker follows Statham in the titular role of a professional thief with a code: never steal from those who can’t afford it, and never hurt those who don’t deserve it. But after being screwed over and left for dead by his crew, who are led by crime boss Melander (Michael Chiklis), Parker makes the decision to get his own back, eventually ending up in Palm Beach, where he teams up with real estate agent Leslie (Jennifer Lopez) to infiltrate the gang and hijack their next big score.

Jason Statham’s Action Thriller ‘Parker’ Is Set to Stream for Free This December
Image
Action movie icon Jason Statham knows what he’s good at, and damn if he isn’t one of the best to ever do it, with the charismatic star able to bring any middling action fare at least somewhat to life using his particular set of skills. This is never truer than with the 2013 crime thriller Parker, which adapts one of the novels by the late Donald Westlake, and is all set to stream for free.

While the movie itself was met with mixed reviews at the time, the presence of The Stath never fails to impress, with The Beekeeper star bringing his usual gritty magnetism to the role of a professional thief who finds himself double-crossed and left for dead. Directed by Taylor Hackford and written by John J. McLaughlin, Parker sees Jason Statham team-up with Jennifer Lopez while butting (bald) head with (bald) head against The Shield star Michael Chiklis.

Do Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon Really Sing in 'Walk the Line'?
Image
In James Mangold's 2005 biopic Walk the Line, Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon take on the iconic roles of legendary singer-songwriters and star couple Johnny Cash and June Carter. Their performances are so authentic that one might wonder if the actors truly sing in the film. Even when musical biopics feature actors who double as talented musicians, such as the Grammy Award-winning Jamie Foxx in Taylor Hackford's Ray or Rami Malek in Bohemian Rhapsody, it's not always that their voices will be used in the final cut. For example, in Ray, Foxx's singing voice was replaced with Ray Charles' original recorded voice in the songs he performed. Rami Malek's performance in Bryan Singer's Bohemian Rhapsody was also dubbed over. But do Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon actually sing in Walk the Line? The answer is a resounding yes both Phoenix and Witherspoon deliver their own vocal performances throughout the movie.

How Russell Crowe Reacted To A $60m Flop's Director Blaming Him For Its Failure
Image
While Russell Crowe's career has been stacked with critically-acclaimed performances and major blockbusters he has also been a part of some historical failures, including the 2000 action thriller Proof of Life. In the movie, Russell Crowe portrayed Terry Thorne, a professional hostage negotiator and former member of the British Special Air Service, who assists in tracking down a woman's kidnapped husband. The director, Taylor Hackford, imagined that Proof of Life was going to be a much bigger hit than it was.

Proof of Life received mixed reviews and heavily underperformed at the box office, reeling in $62 million as the studio failed to profit against the movie's $65 million budget. This was a major hit to Russell Crowe's career momentum after his legendary performance in Ridley Scott's Gladiator, and the actor never could have expected to be Hackford's excuse as to why the project failed.
