It's not an exaggeration to say that "ER" is one of the most revered television shows of all time. Considered the gold standard of TV medical dramas, "ER" most certainly paved the way for contemporary medical series such as "Grey's Anatomy," the only such show that boasts more episodes. The recipient of 23 Emmy awards over 15 seasons, "ER" has been equally lauded for its writing, acting, medical accuracy, and high-quality production.
Accolades aside, "ER" leaves an imprint on anyone who watches it, though its popularity has waned in recent years. Thankfully, with the massive success of "The Pitt," produced by "ER" star Noah Wyle alongside Scott Gemmill and John Wells, "ER" has gained a new wave of fans experiencing the show for the first time.
While many "ER" fans prefer the first several seasons, "ER" was always good, even a dozen seasons in, and it was very often great. What follows...

Hank’s next-door nemesis Kahn is back in Hulu’s new King of the Hill revival — but you might notice he doesn’t exactly sound the same.
Kahn, an immigrant from Laos who loves to needle Hank for being a hillbilly, was voiced by a white actor, Toby Huss, during King of the Hill’s original Fox run, which ended in 2009. But for the revival, the role was recast, with The Daily Show’s Ronny Chieng (who was born in Malaysia and grew up in Singapore) taking over as Kahn.

This fall sees the long-awaited release of The Running Man, Edgar Wright’s high-octane adaptation of the Stephen King novel. The action-thriller stars Glen Powell in the role of Ben Richards, a desperate everyman forced to enter a deadly game show in a not-so-distant dystopian America — and judging by our intense exclusive image, things are not going well for him. As part of Collider's Exclusive Preview event, we're delighted to reveal a new look at Powell in the film. We can also share a delightful chat we had with Wright, one of the world's most exciting directors of kinetic and stylized action.
Wright, known for genre-defining cult favorites like Shaun of the Dead and Baby Driver, is promising something darker and more faithful to King’s original story — and a whole lot rougher than the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger version. The director says that when describing the movie to new audiences,...

Joel Edgerton’s Train Dreams premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival to widespread critical acclaim — the film earned a 97% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. As part of Collider's Exclusive Preview event, we are thrilled to partner with Netflix to preview a new image of Edgerton in Train Dreams, and we also had the chance to ask director Clint Bentleya few questions about the film. Bentley also wrote the script with his long-time collaborator Greg Kwedar.
Train Dreams is Bentley's first movie since Sing Sing, which he wrote the script for while Kwedar directed. When asked what Bentley took away from working on Sing Sing that he brought to Train Dreams, he spoke about bringing the “real world” into a film and allowing a movie to “evolve to accommodate the surprises of life.”

Glen Powell may be closing the door on ever joining the ranks of superpowered heroes in the Marvel or DC universes.

Joel Edgerton plays Robert Grainier, an early-20th century logger and railroad worker who faces a rapidly-changing America in the teaser trailer for director Clint Bentley’s Train Dreams, which dropped on Thursday.
Felicity Jones, who plays Gladys, Grainer’s wife, William H. Macy and Kerry Condon also star in Bentley’s drama that adapts Denis Johnson’s prize-winning novella. “I don’t know where the years go,” a meditative Grainer says at one point in the trailer amid scenes where he rides the rails or, long axe in hand, eyes giant trees to possibly chop down.
Macy, who plays Arn Peeples, an explosives expert, finds lyrical beauty in an early 20th century America where the outside world is fast closing in on their traditional, pastoral way of life. “This world is intricately stitched together, boys. Every thread we pull, we know not how it affects the design of things,...

Earlier this year, the historical drama Train Dreams was screened at the Sundance Film Festival – and that screening was a great success, resulting in not only rave reviews (including a 9/10 review from JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray) but also a distribution deal, with Netflix forking over $16 million for the rights. Today, a teaser trailer for Train Dreams has dropped online, and it can be seen in the embed above. Along with the teaser trailer comes the information that Netflix is planning to give the film a limited theatrical release on November 7th. It will make its way over to the streaming service two weeks later, on November 21st.

"Every thread we pull, we know not how it affects the design of things." Netflix has unveiled the first teaser trailer for one of the best films of 2025 titled Train Dreams, made by filmmaker Clint Bentley. Train Dreams premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to rave reviews from many critics (here's mine). All this positivity convinced Netflix to give it a theatrical release - playing in theaters exclusively in November for two weeks before it arrives for streaming. The breathtakingly beautiful film is the moving portrait of Robert Grainier, a logger and railroad worker who leads a life of unexpected depth and beauty in the rapidly-changing America of the early 20th Century. It follows him throughout a great deal of his life, through trials and tribulations, as he watches the world change right before his eyes. It's an incredible film. With a score composed by Bryce Dessner.

You’d think that once someone “makes it” in Hollywood, the hard part is over. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. If anything, for some stars, that’s when things start to unravel. Success doesn’t cancel out addiction, mental health struggles, bad decisions, or toxic relationships. And in a world where everything is watched, posted, and picked apart, falling apart is a lot more public.
This is not about dragging names through the mud or digging up old tabloid drama; it is about showing the other side of fame. Some of the biggest names in film were winning awards and breaking box office records while quietly battling addiction, mental health issues, legal trouble, or the overwhelming weight of fame. It is wild how someone can be the face of a billion-dollar franchise while their personal life is falling apart behind the scenes.

They say that the threshold for success these days, especially for big-budget tent poles, is $400 million worldwide. A movie that crosses this milestone is more likely to get a sequel than one that doesn't. There have, however, been films that concluded their runs above this benchmark, but weren't rewarded with follow-ups. The biggest example, for the longest time, was Tron: Legacy, which made over $400 million in its theatrical run more than a decade ago. A follow-up to that film, titled Tron: Ares, will be released later this year. On the other hand, Duncan Jones' Warcraft has no chance of getting a sequel, despite making over $430 million worldwide. Both films cost around the same to produce, as did last year's Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which made a hair under the $400 million mark worldwide. The movie has now been overtaken by Brad Pitt's F1.

Matthew McConaughey's 83% Fresh Crime Film With a Secret Bosch Connection Is Blowing Up on Streaming
In 2011, Matthew McConaughey starred as Mickey Haller in The Lincoln Lawyer. As the legal crime movie finds new success on streaming, fans may be surprised to learn about the connection between Mickey Haller and the hit Prime Video series Bosch.
Both The Lincoln Lawyer and Bosch are based on best-selling novel series by writer Michael Connelly. However, the connection doesn't stop there, as Connelly's Mickey Haller and Harry Bosch book series take place in the same shared universe, with Haller and Bosch depicted as half-brothers. Unfortunately, due to the rights held by different studios, this familial connection has not yet been replicated on screen, which is unfortunate given how popular the Bosch Universe is on its own. As for The Lincoln Lawyer, while the movie was a modest box office hit, grossing $87 million worldwide, it's currently climbing the charts on Paramount+. We're all familiar with the famous Ian Malcolm quote about being so preoccupied about whether someone could do something that they don't stop to think about whether or not they should. That hypothesis can be applied to all manner of IP-driven filmmaking with franchises that have stretched beyond their expiration dates, but it's especially prescient with "Jurassic Park." Universal has been chasing the high of Steven Spielberg's groundbreaking sci-fi adventure ever since it gave audiences the best glimpse of cinematic dinosaurs they'd ever seen. It's easy to understand why they would see it as a hot property to build an empire around. The film was not just a box office juggernaut, but it fundamentally changed how movies are made in terms of computer-generated imagery. That's a high bar to clear.
