Untamed, the Yosemite-set mystery series starring Eric Bana (A Sacrifice), debuted on Netflix last week and easily outperformed the competition. It took the #1 spot on Netflix’s Top 10 English TV list with 24.6 million views, overshadowing The Sandman season 2 and Amy Bradley Is Missing.

The six-episode series is a character-driven mystery that follows Kyle Turner (Bana), a special agent for the National Parks Service who works to enforce human law in nature’s vast wilderness. The investigation of a brutal death sends Turner on a collision course with the dark secrets within the park, and in his own past. Untamed also stars Sam Neill (Jurassic World: Dominion), Rosemarie DeWitt (Smile 2), Lily Santiago (La Brea), and Wilson Bethel (Daredevil: Born Again).

Untamed Episode 5 sees Rosemarie DeWitt's Jill forced to go to the hospital after some dramatic circumstances put her on the edge of life and death. Dewitt stars alongside A-list stars like Eric Bana and Sam Neill in the exciting new Netflix drama, which follows a Yosemite park ranger and the mysterious death of a young girl. The series features plenty of twists and turns that all tie back to Bana's Kyle Turner and a dark secret hidden from the viewer for most of the series. 

Part of Turner's dark past includes his ex-wife Jill, a teacher made to look as though she left Turner following the disappearance of their young son, Caleb (played by Ezra Wilson), several years before the series kicks off.

Eric Bana wouldn’t mind a change of pace in his more than 30-year career.

Known for high-stakes drama and action movies such as “Black Hawk Down,” “Troy,” “Hulk” and “Munich,” most don’t know — or have forgotten — that the 56-year-old actor started in comedy.

Along with starring in the sketch comedy series “Full Frontal” in the mid-1990s in his native Australia, he also hosted a short-lived talk show, “The Eric Bana Show Live.”

Summer is the time for streamers like Netflix and Prime Video. Barring an electrifying opening scene, it does not stand apart as a police procedural. What the Netflix mini-series does excel at, and thus significantly elevates its status, is exalting its unique setting—a murder mystery at Yosemite National Park. Boosted by a solid cast, which is led by an earnestly committed Eric Bana, the show astutely takes the chance to shine in Yosemite National Park’s reflected glory. With its mountains, greenery, and fauna, the National Park’s towering presence becomes a pivotal character in the story, not just a backdrop. And it works wonders for the mini-series. So much so, we would not mind a second instalment.
