Matthew Modine Explains What Drew Him to Legendary's MonsterVerse Franchise
Image
Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated actor Matthew Modine is known for starring in movies like Full Metal Jacket (1987), Memphis Belle (1990), and The Dark Knight Rises (2012), and for his role as Dr. Martin Brenner in Stranger Things. Earlier this year, Modine was cast in the latest offering from Legendary’s MonsterVerse franchise, and now he’s revealing what drew him to the part.

The actor took to Threads to explain why he wanted to be part of the next Godzilla x Kong movie. He posted a picture of himself with the Godzilla x Kong Supernova logo, which also included a quote from BangShobiz saying, “Matthew Modine says he joined Godzilla & Kong 3 because he ‘wanted to meet Godzilla.’”

Modine, in his Threads post, confirmed that, yes, he did want to meet the famous monster. “Of course I did. Wouldn’t you want to hang out with a 600 foot lizard!? I mean, seriously. And...

‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Becomes No. 4 Most-Watched English Language Netflix Movie of All Time, Securing 158 Million Views
Image
“KPop Demon Hunters” made Netflix history during the week of July 28, becoming the streamer’s fourth most-watched English-language movie to date. In the seven weeks since its debut, the action musical secured 158.8 million views.

The animated movie from Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans has now been more widely watched in its first 90 days than Ryan Reynolds and Jennifer Garner’s “The Adam Project,” Sandra Bullock’s “Bird Box,” Cameron Diaz and Jaime Foxx’s “Back in Action,” Sam Esmail’s “Leave the World Behind,” Ryan Gosling’s “The Gray Man,” Millie Bobby Brown’s “Damsel” and Robert Rodriguez’s “We Can Be Heroes.” It also bumped “We Can Be Heroes” out of Netflix’s top 10 most popular English-language movies list.

And since the 90-day cutoff for “KPop Demon Hunters” won’t happen until mid-September, chances are high that ranking will only be going up, up, up.

Despite the success of Netflix’s latest hit,...

Matthew Modine teases ‘pretty exciting’ Godzilla x Kong: Supernova
Matthew Modine signed on to Godzilla x Kong: Supernova because he “wanted to meet Godzilla”.The Stranger Things actor, 66, is due to star in the upcoming MonsterVerse blockbuster, and has now revealed he had agreed to appear in the film to meet the iconic Titan - only to be disappointed Godzilla wasn’t actually there during production.Speaking on a panel at Tampa Bay Comic Convention, the Full Metal Jacket actor said: “I just worked in Godzilla x King Kong: Supernova. That was pretty exciting. Oh, to work with Godzilla.“When I was working on Godzilla - that’s what I was gonna say - I kept waiting. “I was like, 'Wait a minute, Godzilla is not here!' ‘Godzilla x Kong: Supernova’ Star Shares Surprising First Comments About the Sequel [Exclusive]
Image
The MonsterVerse just got a little more delightful thanks to Matthew Modine, who offered fans a playful behind-the-scenes peek at the making of Godzilla x Kong: Supernova during a panel at FanX's Tampa Bay Comic Convention this weekend. Appearing alongside Stranger Things co-star David Harbour, Modine couldn’t resist sharing his own brand of kaiju-induced existential comedy with Collider's Maggie Lovitt — and yes, it turns out he joined the movie for one very wholesome reason. “I just worked in Godzilla x King Kong: Supernova,” Modine said with a grin. “That was pretty exciting. Oh, to work with Godzilla.”

The Oscar-nominated actor — who joins a stacked cast including Kaitlyn Dever, Dan Stevens, Delroy Lindo, Alycia Debnam-Carey, and Sam Neill — reflected on what it means to be a grown-up playing pretend, especially when the co-stars you're acting opposite are skyscraper-sized monsters rendered entirely in VFX.

“When I was working on Godzilla — that...

Eric Bana in Untamed (2025)
The #1 Series on Netflix Is a Riveting Whodunnit: “Immediately hooked… highly recommended.”
Eric Bana in Untamed (2025)
How would you like the chance to escape into an engaging crime thriller series that features the added bonus of breathtaking cinematography guaranteed to transport you to an idyllic and scenic landscape? Are you sold yet? If not, allow me to sweeten the deal even more. The series in question also features an all-star cast and a twisty narrative with which fans and critics alike are connecting.

Better yet, the series sits as the most-watched program on the Netflix platform today! Millions of subscribers cannot possibly be wrong, can they? I mean, I guess it’s technically possible, but that’s highly unlikely.

The program that I so mysteriously speak of is the limited series Untamed. The setup for the program is this: In the vast expanse of Yosemite National Park, a woman’s death draws a federal agent into lawless terrain, where nature obeys no rules but its own.

Untamed currently has a 79% score on Rotten Tomatoes and is led by veteran actors Eric Bana (Troy), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park), and Rosemarie DeWitt (Mad Men). The first season was released in its entirety on July 17, 2025.

As per Netflix Tudum, Untamed is at the top of Netflix's Global Top 10 Shows for the second week in a row. What Untamed's Viewership Success Means Untamed Proves The Taylor Sheridan Formula Works

Netflix's TV library is expansive, with original releases offered practically every week. This makes it all the more challenging for shows to establish dominance on the site's famous global rankings.

Netflix announces the Untamed season 2 news we totally saw coming
Image
Untamed simply can't be tamed! The mystery thriller series debuted on July 17 on Netflix and took off like wildfire, reaching the top 10 in multiple countries and staying put at No. 1 on the most popular shows ranking in the United States for over a week. The show's debut ratings, which reached an impressive mark of 24.6 million views, we clearly enough to warrant a quick renewal.

On July 29, less than two weeks since the series premiered, Netflix revealed that Untamed season 2 was officially renewed! The series, which was originally designated as a limited series, attracted enough of an audience (and then some) for Netflix to renew the series from American Primeval creator Mark L. Smith and his daughter Elle Smith. Another national park mystery is on the way!

Netflix's Ozark Replacement Show With 80% on Rt Gets an Unexpected Season 2 Renewal

Netflix has just revealed the future of one of its most recent releases. Untamed premiered on the platform on Jul. 17, and has been a major hit ever since.

Not even two weeks since its debut, Netflix decided to bet on the series and has officially renewed Untamed for Season 2, as per an announcement on X. Considering how popular the murder mystery drama has been since its release, the decision is not as surprising. However, the show had been created as a limited series, and it had already wrapped all the loose ends in its six episodes.

The Fate of Eric Bana's New 'True Detective' Replacement Netflix Series Has Been Decided
Image
Although Eric Bana’s Special Agent Kyle Turner may have closed the case on the mysterious death of Lucy Cook (Ezra Franky), the case isn’t yet closed on Netflix’s breakaway crime drama, Untamed. Today, the streamer announced that its latest title to take off like wildfire has been renewed for a second season. At this point, it isn’t clear whether Bana or other characters from the debut season will return or if the production will take on a similar layout to True Detective and move into anthology territory. We can presume that the next chapter will take us to a different National Park and away from the towering granite cliffs of Yosemite in California’s Sierra Nevada region, but aside from that, there’s a lot up in the air. Still, those who flocked to the incredibly bingeable six-episode series will be happy to know that there...

Sam Neill and Rosemarie DeWitt also starred in Season 1.

In Season 2, Bana returns to investigate a new mystery. At the end of Season 1, Turner finally left Yosemite National Park and hit the road, letting go of years of emotional baggage he had stored in the park’s wilderness.

Image
Despite initially being made and marketed as a limited series, Netflix has now renewed its new crime thriller show for a second season. Released on the streamer earlier this month, Untamed introduces audiences to Eric Bana as Kyle Turner, a special agent for the National Park Service Investigative Services Branch (Isb) who works to enforce human law in nature’s vast wilderness. Suddenly, the investigation of a brutal death sends him down a path that will force him to face the dark secrets within the park, and in his own past. This was because of its Nike-inspired title, and for its premise, which many found risible: A 12-year-old boy, Josh (Kevin Zegers), moves to the small town of Fenfield, Washington after the death of his father. Despondent and alone, he happens into the company of a friendly golden retriever named Buddy, who is on the run from an evil party clown (Michael Jeter). Josh finds that Buddy can bound basetkballs off his nose and sink baskets, an extraordinary talent for a dog. Josh is on his school's basketball team, but they're not very good. I think you can see where this is headed.

In the film's climax, Josh and his team have to win a Big Game against another school, and they are one player short. Luckily,...

These puzzles can be quite difficult to solve on your own, though, which is why I have prepared the solutions for today’s questions. There will be a total of 3 such puzzles today, each having a very different kind of challenge. Let us begin, then, shall we?

Tyler Perry’s 14% Rotten Tomatoes Rom-Com Defies Controversy For Another Week of Streaming Success

Tyler Perry has come under fire recently after being accused of sexual assault and workplace harassment by The Oval actor Derek Dixon, but his latest releases haven’t suffered for the disturbing allegations. Perry most recently wrote, directed, and starred in Madea’s Destination Wedding, the latest film in the Madea franchise following the titular character who goes to the Bahamas for a destination wedding, only for tensions to arise which lead to suspicions about the marriage’s legitimacy. Madea’s Destination Wedding hit Netflix on July 11, and the film is currently charting in the top 10 in more than 50 countries globally, including the United States. This success also comes in spite of poor scores of 14% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and even a 44% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter.

The six-episode show was intended as a miniseries, but there is still a chance for a season 2 renewal, and that range is why. In an interview with TV Insider, Bana discussed the possibility of further explorations of the National Parks. While...

Eric Bana on ‘Untamed,’ the Finale’s ‘Great…Twist’ and the Possibility of a Season 2
Image
Spoiler Alert: This interview contains major spoilers from “Untamed,” now streaming on Netflix.

Eric Bana wouldn’t mind a change of pace in his more than 30-year career.

Known for high-stakes drama and action movies such as “Black Hawk Down,” “Troy,” “Hulk” and “Munich,” most don’t know — or have forgotten — that the 56-year-old actor started in comedy.

Along with starring in the sketch comedy series “Full Frontal” in the mid-1990s in his native Australia, he also hosted a short-lived talk show, “The Eric Bana Show Live.”

“Most of what I get sent is quite dark and dramatic, and I’ve really enjoyed doing the lighter stuff when it comes along,” Bana tells me during an appearance on the “Just for Variety” podcast. “So it would be fun to do more lighthearted stuff for sure, but it doesn’t grow on trees on my desk. There’s a lot of darkness on my desk.

Untamed (TV Mini Series 2025) ‘Netflix’ Recap & Ending Explained – Who Killed Lucy Cook?
Image
Created by Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith, “Untamed” (TV Mini Series 2025) diligently checks off the noir-ish modern detective mystery tropes. Barring an electrifying opening scene, it does not stand apart as a police procedural. What the Netflix mini-series does excel at, and thus significantly elevates its status, is exalting its unique setting—a murder mystery at Yosemite National Park. Boosted by a solid cast, which is led by an earnestly committed Eric Bana, the show astutely takes the chance to shine in Yosemite National Park’s reflected glory. With its mountains, greenery, and fauna, the National Park’s towering presence becomes a pivotal character in the story, not just a backdrop. And it works wonders for the mini-series. So much so, we would not mind a second instalment.

Untamed (TV Mini Series 2025) ‘Netflix’ Recap:

“Untamed” starts with a thrilling scene where a couple of rock climbers discover...
