After several weeks of relative inactivity, during which Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal's The Accountant 2 had become a fixture at the number one spot, the Prime Video viewership charts have taken a dynamic turn in recent weeks. First, the action-comedy Heads of State claimed the top spot for itself, only to be replaced by the rather unlikely War of the Worlds reimagining a couple of weeks later. What made the development so surprising was that War of the Worlds was one of the most widely panned films in recent memory; it continues to hold a rare 0% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. But only a week after its release, the "screenlife" thriller has been unseated from the number one spot by Eddie Murphy's new film, The Pickup.

Christopher Nolan fans, rejoice — one of his most beloved and emotionally resonant films is now available to stream for free. Interstellar, the 2014 sci-fi epic that launched tears across galaxies and wormholes, is currently streaming on Pluto TV, giving fans and first-timers alike the perfect excuse to revisit (or finally experience) the time-bending tale of love, loss, and gravity. Starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and Jessica Chastain, Interstellar follows a former pilot and engineer named Cooper (McConaughey) who joins a mission through a wormhole in search of a new home for humanity — all while trying to find his way back to his daughter Murph (Chastain), even as time itself slips away from him. It’s science fiction at its most ambitious, but also a deeply personal story of family and sacrifice.
The film features a powerhouse ensemble including Michael Caine, John Lithgow, Wes Bentley, Casey Affleck, and a surprise appearance by Matt Damon.

Name a heist comedy with a stacked cast full of stars. If Ocean's Eleven isn't your first answer, try again. The 2001 hit, which is a remake of the 1960 film of the same name, was a commercial success that also served as the first installment in the Ocean's franchise. Some big names in the credits include George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Don Cheadle, Bernie Mac, and many more. When a franchise is as successful as Ocean's, fans and studio execs never want it to end — and between more remakes, installments, and prequels, they often get their wish. That's why there's major excitement surrounding the upcoming Ocean's prequel, which has seemingly found its director.

Veteran American filmmaker Gus Van Sant will be handed the Campari Passion for Film Award at this year’s Venice Film Festival.
The award ceremony will take place on September 2 in the Sala Grande, just before a screening of his latest film Dead Man’s Wire, which screens out of Competition.
The film stars Bill Skarsgård, Dacre Montgomery, Colman Domingo, Cary Elwes, Myha’la, and Al Pacino. The film was written by Austin Kolodney and produced by Elevated.
The film tells the story of Anthony G. “Tony” Kiritsis, a former real estate developer who, in 1977, took a mortgage banker hostage in a downtown office. Kiritsis, believing he was cheated out of money, armed himself with a sawed-off shotgun wired to a “dead man’s switch” around his own neck, demanding a $5 million apology, and immunity from prosecution.

One of Hollywood's premier nepo babies (and we say that with love), as the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, Dakota Johnson was always going to be able to have a career in the entertainment industry if she wanted it. And although she's had a few missteps over the years, she's also been in a number of spectacular films.
With an easy charm and a dry sense of humor, Johnson can usually be relied upon to make a positive impression in whatever movies she appears in. She's been acting for 15 years now (not counting a childhood cameo in her mother's film "Crazy in Alabama" back in 1999), so she has plenty of credits in her filmography. But which of her movies are the best of the best? Some are high-profile blockbusters, while others are smaller indies, but they're all top-tier Dakota Johnson films.

Cruise stars alongside Emily Blunt in Edge of Tomorrow, the 2014 must-watch sci-fi thriller following a man fighting a war against aliens who is forced to relive the same day every time he dies. Edge of Tomorrow is currently streaming on Hulu in the United States, but globally it’s one of the most popular movies to rent or purchase on iTunes, charting in countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore. The film earned strong scores of 91% from critics and 90% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it also grossed $381 million at the box office against a $178 million budget.

Joaquin Phoenix has delivered several Oscar-worthy performances in his career, but there was one that almost wrecked it all. During an interview on The Late Show With Stephen Colbertlast week, the actor talked about his decision to star in I'm Still Here, a mockumentary directed by Casey Affleck (Light of My Life) in 2010. While promoting the comedy movie, Phoenix chose to stay in character during his participation on the David Letterman show. It went terribly wrong.
During the infamous interview, Phoenix announced to a confused audience that he was "retiring from acting" to pursue a hip-hop career as a rabbi. What nobody knew at the time was that it was a hoax to promote I'm Still Here, which is a critique of fame. Looking back on it, Phoenix told Colbert that he could see that it wasn't working, but he "had to keep going" in order not to break character.

An interview gives audiences insight into an actor's upcoming project. One of the most effective ways to promote a film, show, album, book, and more is by appearing as a guest on a talk show. There was a time when everyone wanted to book a spot on TheLate Show with David Letterman; an appearance on the talk show was a great way to get exposure and connect with fans. From 1993 to 2015, some of the most popular actors sat in the chairs next to Letterman's desk on stage to chat and laugh. Some prominent celebrities include Demi Moore, Robin Williams, Madonna, Denzel Washington, LL Cool J, and more. Yet, perhaps the most awkward Late Show interview occurred in 2009, when Joaquin Phoenix appeared in character to promote a movie.

More than 15 years ago, Joaquin Phoenix was responsible for one of the internet’s earliest viral moments when he appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman in character.
The Oscar winner recently recounted his “horrible” Feb. 11, 2009 appearance on the talk show, which came after he did the pre-interview in character for his Casey Affleck-helmed mockumentary I’m Still Here (2010), which saw Phoenix quitting acting to pursue a hip-hop career.
“I realized that it was just a little silly, so I called them back and I said, ‘Listen, this is what I’m doing. I’m coming out here and I’m doing this whole thing,'” he explained on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
“‘And I just want Dave to like, lacerate me. I just want it to be really dangerous,'” Phoenix continued. “That was the kind of intention… I just always wanted to get this reaction...

It’s not easy to give Crispin Glover a run for his money in the oddball department, but Joaquin Phoenix gave it a go when he appeared on Late Show with David Letterman in 2009 while he was promoting Two Lovers. Bearded, shaded and completely disinterested, Phoenix was the ultimate anti-interviewee, sitting through Letterman’s digs about the Unabomber and the audience’s awkward laughs. We learned later on that the whole gag was tied to Casey Affleck’s mockumentary I’m Still Here. Now, Joaquin Phoenix is apologizing for the whole Letterman debacle.
Appearing on Stephen Colbert’s iteration of Late Show (via Variety), Joaquin Phoenix admitted that his eight-minute interview with Letterman was nothing but a “horrible” experience, adding, “It was so uncomfortable. I regret it, I’ll never do it again. I’m so sorry.” He would then give a specific apology to Letterman through the airwaves. He went on to say,...

Actor Joaquin Phoenix provided one of the most bizarre guest appearances on a late-night talk show of all time back in 2009. He now looks back upon the situation with regret, making it clear he won't do anything like that again.
The incident happened when Phoenix appeared as a guest on David Letterman's Late Show. At the time, Phoenix was promoting his then-upcoming mockumentary, I'm Still Here, which imagined that the actor quit Hollywood to become a hip-hop artist. He was in character as a more eccentric version of himself, but viewers didn't know it at the time, making for a very awkward segment. The intention was to generate some buzz for I'm Still Here, and that goal was certainly a success, but it's not something the Oscar winner is proud of.
Phoenix reflected on the ordeal during a recent appearance on The Late Show, which is now hosted by Stephen Colbert.

Joaquin Phoenix made his first appearance in 15 years on CBS’ “The Late Show” Tuesday night and expressed “regret” over his infamous stunt interview in 2009 with former host David Letterman.
After being welcomed to the late-night show by Letterman successor Stephen Colbert, Phoenix reflected on the awkward 2009 interview, in which he appeared on “The Late Show” sporting long hair, an unruly beard and sunglasses. The interview was subsequently used in the Casey Affleck-directed mockumentary “I’m Still Here,” which documented Phoenix’s life after he announced that he was retiring from acting to start a hip-hop career.
Phoenix stayed in character for the film. That resulted in his notorious Letterman interview, which in turn led many to speculate that he was having a mental breakdown. 16 years later, Phoenix told Colbert he wishes he had not done the interview. “It was horrible. It was so uncomfortable. I regret it. I’ll never do it again.

More than a decade on, Joaquin Phoenix is still sorry for the cringe promotion of his mockumentary “I’m Still Here.” While in character (as a caricature of himself), Phoenix appeared on “The Late Show with David Letterman” for a 2009 interview, where he announced he was retiring from acting to start a hip hop career.
Phoenix recently returned to “The Late Show,” now hosted by Stephen Colbert, to promote his latest film “Eddington” — and also apologize once more for the “I’m Still Here” spoof. Phoenix said that he actually wanted Letterman to really lean into the bit, and have the talk show be a “dangerous” move for his real career. Hence, he kept the prank under wraps for audiences, but Letterman was well-aware of it.

Lilo & Stitch Worldwide Box Office: Surpasses Oppenheimer ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
The Disney live-action remake is getting aggressive with its box office collections as the mega milestone inches closer. Lilo & Stitch is so far the biggest blockbuster of the year, ruling at the top spot in the 2025 Hollywood grosser list. Before reaching its ultimate goal, the film has beaten Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer worldwide to achieve a significant feat. Keep scrolling for the deets.
The live-action remake received mixed to positive reactions on the aggregate site. But a good family movie such as this, with already a strong fan base, is bound to make it big financially. It will not be as big a phenomenon as Inside Out 2, released in 2024, but it will surely be among the top films this year. It is expected to hold its position for a few months.

Rachel Brosnahan, the actress who is widely renowned for her breakthrough role as Miriam “Midge” Maisel in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, has earned a one-way ticket into one of the up-and-coming Dcu, through James Gunn’s upcoming Superman. And since then, talks about her pretty much refuse to die down.
The forthcoming flick will see her embodying the character of the fan-beloved Lois Lane: A world-famous investigative journalist at Daily Planet, who works alongside (and ends up being the love interest of) Clark Kent, aka the Kryptonian superhero Kal-El (played by David Corenswet in the new movie).
Judging from the reviews that the trailer and the early screenings have received so far, Brosnahan has ostensibly left no stone unturned in giving one of the finest performances of her lifetime as Lane. But while that one’s to look forward to, you might want to see more of her after watching her in Superman.

This Halloween season, we will have the chance to go back to Blithe Hollow, Massachusetts and re-visit 11-year-old Norman Babcock. That’s right, Laika’s stop-motion masterpiece ParaNorman will be back in theaters for a one-week engagement this October.
Laika previously did something similar with its 2024 re-release of Coraline, bringing it to theaters in 2D and RealD 3D, and that was a huge success. Coraline brought in $56 million world-wide during its re-release, making it the top-grossing stop-motion film of all time.
ParaNorman won several awards upon its initial release, and it will be presented in remastered 2D and RealD 3D formats. The re-release kicks off the 20th anniversary celebration of Laika.
ParaNorman’s re-release will feature a new animated short by Laika, titled ParaNorman: The Thrifting, which is directed by Thibault LeClercq (the lead character designer for Laika). Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and Anna Kendrick (Woman of the Hour) lent...

The New York Times just released a list of the top 100 movies, which were some of the most influential films in the 21st century. Among them, Korean director Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite was hailed as the movie of the century, while several other movies were placed at various ranks.
Notably, some very famous movies that left a long-lasting impression on the culture and got people talking about them were surprisingly not added to the top 100 films of the 21st century list! So, here are 10 movies that we think should have been a part of the list but unfortunately weren’t.

Artists Equity, the independent studio founded by Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Gerry Cardinale, has signed an overall theatrical feature film agreement with Sony Pictures. Under the three-year agreement, Sony will distribute the theatrical films globally, which will be developed and produced by Artists Equity. Sony will finance the films and handle all ancillaries, with Artists Equity having the option to co-finance individual projects.
“Artists Equity, in the short span of its existence, has proven remarkably adept at developing and producing high quality commercial films,” said Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group chairman and CEO Tom Rothman. “This is not a surprise to me as I have known the two creative ‘Pros from Dover’ for many years and always admired their smarts, talent and moxie. Now that Ben and Matt and their team have set their sights firmly on the high bar of the theatrical market, Sony is lucky as hell to be partnering with them.

Ana de Armas is currently the talk of Tinseltown thanks to her badass starring role in the John Wick spin-off Ballerina. Likely thanks to this, many eyes are being directed back to some of her other action-adjacent roles, even those that would rather be left forgotten if critical opinion is to be followed. Also starring Marvel alum Chris Evans, the 2023 rom-com Ghosted failed to quite spark a fire inside the stomachs of those who first watched it, earning just 55% from audiences and an abysmal 25% from critics on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
Nevertheless, the movie is now a hit on AppleTV+ once again in light of Ballerina dancing onto the big screen, with the film officially the #6 most-streamed movie on the platform as of June 9, 2025. Elsewhere in the top 10, Ghosted is outperforming the likes of Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon, Matt Damon and Casey Affleck's The Instigators,...

Christian Bale has starred in many heavy hitters. From playing Patrick Bateman in American Psycho to being Batman and even starring in several Academy Award-nominated films, he seems to have done it all. With all the success that he has seen across his four-decade-long career, he has many options when picking his favorite out of them.
While many would assume that it would be one of his many critically acclaimed films, it would seem that a lesser-known project stole his heart. In 2013, Bale starred in Out of the Furnace, which became one of his favorites. Unfortunately, it did not receive the same amount of affection from audiences.
Christian Bale was very proud of Out of the Furnace
Success appears to have followed Christian Bale throughout his career. His fourth acting credit in his entire career became an iconic film, and that paved a path straight to the A-list for the actor.

Zombies have been a thing in cinema for nearly a century now, and since then, we have seen countless films that employ the flesh-eating monsters to tell various kinds of stories. In this sub-genre, we have seen many high and low budget films from the incredibly popular World War Z to the brilliant 28 Days Later, and while these films are every bit worthy of the praise they get, there are some films that get nearly no praise, as the masses still haven’t heard about them. To rectify that, we have compiled a list of the best and most entertaining zombie films that you might not have heard of.

Perhaps more than any other director in the history of cinema, Alfred Hitchcock was fascinated by identity. Many of his films revolve around a case of mistaken identity. This was played out in many of his classic films, from Saboteur to The Wrong Man and on to North by Northwest.
In each case, our erstwhile hero has been accused of some villainous act and must fight his way through 120-odd minutes to clear his name.
In others, it's the protagonist themself who isn't quite sure of who they truly are. Hitchcock never resorted to anything as cumbersome as an actual mask, although there may be a wig involved. A prime example of this is the seminal thriller Psycho.

When Once Upon a Time in Hollywood dropped back in 2019, it wasn’t just a movie, it was a full-on vibe. Quentin Tarantino gave us a retro ride through 1969 Los Angeles, packed with neon signs, spaghetti westerns, and one very wild rewrite of Hollywood history. The cast was absolutely stacked.
With an all-star cast led by Leonardo DiCaprio as fading TV actor Rick Dalton and Brad Pitt as his loyal stuntman Cliff Booth, the movie delivered career-best performances and oozed style from every frame. Let’s not forget Margot Robbie channeling the sweet, ethereal spirit of Sharon Tate, or the killer soundtrack that practically had a personality of its own.
Fast forward to now, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is getting a sequel. Yes, seriously. But this time, it’s David Fincher in the director’s chair, and the spotlight’s shifting to Cliff Booth. As production gears up for a 2025 start,...

Ben Affleck is gearing up for the release of his action thriller The Accountant 2, which sees him return to the titular role after nine years, along with actor Jon Bernthal. The actor/filmmaker is known for his high-scale blockbuster appearances, but as a director, he has chosen some intimate subjects to tackle.
In his directorial debut, Gone Baby Gone, Affleck adapted Dennis Lehane’s novel of the same name, which dealt with the kidnapping of a child. The film is still considered to be one of his most underrated works, and he was lauded for his directorial efforts. The Justice League star recently revealed he included a reference to a famous French classic in the film.

Joaquin Phoenix(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Let’s talk about one of Hollywood’s most bizarre (and funny) moments: Joaquin Phoenix‘s short-lived “rap career.” He actually made headlines for a minute back in 2009 when he announced he was quitting acting to become a rapper. Now, before you imagine him in baggy jeans and bling, let’s rewind a bit to see what really went down.
It’s February 2009. Joaquin Phoenix walks onto The Late Show with David Letterman (per The Guardian), and let’s just say—he’s not exactly red-carpet ready. Sporting a wild beard, unkempt hair, and sunglasses indoors, he looked more like he’d wandered in from an indie basement gig than a talk show. Letterman, never one to miss a punchline, couldn’t help himself. With a smirk, he quipped, “So, what can you tell us about your days with the Unabomber?”

Miles Teller is to star in Paramount Pictures' 'Winter Games'. Paul Downs Colaizzo is to direct the Winter Olympic Games movie, which is currently in development, from a script penned by himself and Pat Cunnane. Sources have told Deadline that 'Top Gun: Maverick' actor Teller is attached to the project, which he will also produce alongside Tim and Trevor White. The movie will tell the story of the huge pressure on Winter Olympic Games competitors, and it'll focus on two main characters - a "self-sabotaging hockey legend" and a "perpetually overlooked skier". The characters will "navigate romance and redemption in the Olympic Village" amid their quests to win Olympic gold.Teller is no stranger to working with Paramount Pictures, having done so in 2022's 'Top Gun: Maverick' alongside Tom Cruise, Glen Powell, Jennifer Connelly and the late Val Kilmer, who passed away this month aged 65. Timothée Chalamet Movie Transformation (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Timothée Chalamet’s rise has been as dramatic and stylish as one of his red carpet-looks. He started as the indie scene’s favorite artsy boy, soft-spoken, floppy-haired, and constantly heartbroken in sun-drenched landscapes. Fast forward a few years, and he’s now leading box office juggernauts, riding space worms in Dune: Part Two, and rapping his way through chocolate factories in Wonka.
Somehow, he managed to stay both a fashion icon and a total goofball (we’re still not over Lil Timmy Tim). With collaborations spanning from Greta Gerwig to Denis Villeneuve, he has officially entered that rare actor zone where people will show up just to watch him stare moodily into the distance. So, whether you’ve been following him since Call Me By Your Name or hopped on the hype train post-Interstellar, it’s time to rank the hits, the near-misses,...
