It's time to test your might. The new red band trailer for Mortal Kombat 2 has finally been released with the sequel coming to theaters after a four-year wait.

The trailer has a heavy focus on Karl Urban's Johnny Cage, putting the fan-favorite character front and center after his absence in the previous film. Also on display are other newcomers and returning stars, who bring Johnny up to speed on the deadly "Mortal Kombat" tournament. With a combined total of 37 nominations across broadcast and its syndication arm, CBS Media Ventures, CBS leads all nominees for this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards, which were announced on Thursday by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) – see full list of daytime program nominees.

On the network side, CBS received 25 nominations, led by “The Young and the Restless,” which received the most nominations overall for an individual program, while “The Bold and the Beautiful” received four nominations. The special “Bob Newhart: A Legacy of Laughter: An Entertainment Tonight Special” and the since-canceled daytime talk show, “The Talk,” each received just one nomination.

Among syndication programming, CBS Media Ventures garnered 12 nominations, led by “The Drew Barrymore Show” with nine, “Entertainment Tonight” with two, and “Hot Bench” with one nomination.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) has revealed its nominees for this year’s ceremony, which will be held on October 17 in Pasadena, Calif.

Fan-favorite shows that appear in this year’s nominees include soaps like General Hospital, The Young and the Restless and Days of our Lives, as well as talk shows like The Drew Barrymore Show, The View, and The Kelly Clarkson Show.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) on Thursday announced the full list of nominees for “The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” which are set to take place on Friday, October 17 during a ceremony that will be streamed live from Pasadena, CA. However, a specific venue had not been disclosed at press time.

This year, the Daytime Emmy Awards will take place as a single ceremony, executive produced by Adam Sharp, President and CEO of NATAS, and Lisa Armstrong, with Rachel Schwartz serving as Head of the Daytime Emmy Awards. The firm of Lutz & Carr, Llp, provides accounting services for this year’s competition.

Among the television networks and streamers, Netflix leads with 32 nominations, followed by ABC and CBS in a tie for second place, each with 25 nominations. Peacock received 14 nominations to rank fourth, while CBS Media Ventures was honored with 12 nominations to close out the top five.

Hallucinations of Cameron (Linden Ashby) caused Sharon to commit the heinous act of killing Heather (Vail Bloom). There wasn’t a dry eye when Sharon broke down at Cassie’s (Camryn Grimes) grave after confessing to her crime. Case hasn’t received much love from the Emmys in the past, but this performance is deserving of a nomination.

Holden (Nathan Owens) is interested in working with Cane (Billy Flynn). However, this opportunity has strings attached. Cane wants information on the Newman family, particularly Adam (Mark Grossman), Abby (Melissa Ordway), Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), Claire (Hayley Erin), and Mariah (Camryn Grimes). 39 Years and Counting

The Young and the Restless: Awkward Award?

Despite the mediocre and repetitive material that we are watching, in case you didn’t know it, Y&r recently won the WGA writing award for daytime drama. It seems hard to imagine, but I dug into the judging because I was curious how it worked because it seemed crazy that they would win this award.

So, the judging is done by other writers in the guild, and they only judge based on certain scenes that are submitted rather than the totality of them actually watching the soap operas like soap fans do.

The Young and the Restless knows how to bring the drama, and March 17 – 21 was no exception. From Sharon standing in her power to Victor playing match-maker and Adam and Chelsea melting our hearts, this was a week we will not forget!

Sharon Stood Strong

Sharon (Sharon Case) impressed us on Monday when she refused to fall apart. This poor woman has spent the better part of two years being tormented by her enemies. From Cameron (Linden Ashby)’s reign of terror to that whole mess with Jordan (Colleen Zenk) and Ian Ward (Ray Wise) to this terror inflicted by Alan (Christopher Cousins), we fully expected Sharon to be a mess. Who would blame her? Instead, though, she’s turning her attention to finding out who did this terrible thing to her and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and bringing them to justice.

Unlikely Suspect

Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Sharon’s (Sharon Case) kidnapping has sparked many suspect theories. The suspects range from Ian (Ray Wise) and Jordan (Colleen Zenk) to Patty (Stacy Haiduk) to Cameron (Linden Ashby). But a new theory has Phyllis’ son Daniel (Michael Graziadei) being the culprit.

On Reddit, Y&r fans speculated the possibility of Daniel holding his mom and Sharon captive.

“Who else has more history with these two women? Who creates video games for a living? Who else has an axe to grind with Phyllis and Sharon? He likely a fan of the Saw series too,” wrote one user.

On the February 27 episode of The Young and the Restless, Sharon and Phyllis were forced to call Nick and Summer to tell them they were fine so their families would stop looking for them. Now they just have each other to lean on and beat their captor, whom Phyllis suspects is pitting them head to head in a battle to the death. Who would do something like this? We have suggestions.

Ian (Ray Wise) was the most recent figure to torment them, not including Jordan (Colleen Zenk). Sure, he’s dead (or is he?). But since when does that mean anything in Genoa City? He wanted to frame Sharon (Sharon Case) for killing Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) or frame Phyllis for killing Sharon. This way, he could let them decide.

We have to hand it to Ian Ward (Ray Wise) for bringing the drama. He found himself backed into a corner and was good and ready to shoot his way out. And, he even got in a good shot when he pulled the trigger! But, as good as Ian is at being bad, Victor (Eric Braeden) proved he was the King by fighting back and making sure Ian ended up paying the price! We also have to give a special shout-out to the ambulance scene when Ian opened his eyes. Could there be more drama to come? We hope so!

It’s a wrap for Linden Ashby. The actor completed his latest run as the abusive Cameron Kirsten last week. Ashby, who originally played Cameron from 2003 to 2004, returned to the soap in 2023 and was eventually killed off. However, he began haunting Sharon (Sharon Case) in 2024.

The rarely seen Elizabeth Hendrickson gets some screen time as Chloe Mitchell. Look for the character to give Sally (Courtney Hope) a history lesson on Friday, February 7.

They almost parted as friends if one can be friends with one’s bloody hallucination whom you killed.

But while Cameron (Linden Ashby) was a terrible, horrible human being — not to mention a pretty vindictive ghost — there is no denying that Sharon Case (Sharon) and Ashby shared some serious chemistry. And chemistry like that shouldn’t go to waste. Especially on a show that, at the moment, is somewhat lacking in viable couples.
