Helen Mirren is sharing the most hilarious gardening tip.
The 80-year-old actress was a guest on the Monday (August 11) episode of The Tonight Show and she shared a gardening tip with host Jimmy Fallon.
According to Helen, she’s done her research and found out that tomatoes are “bisexual,” knowledge that she says has helped her to grow the plant.

“Incidentally, I just want to give you a tip about growing tomatoes,” Helen said after she and costar Pierce Brosnan tried fresh salsa during the show.
“You know the little flower? Well, a good way to get a tomato out of a flower is you have to tremble the flower like this,” Helen said and demonstrated the action by waving her finger in the air.

Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam may have stumbled as a superhero blockbuster, but it sparked an unexpected hope in me, the chance for a Pierce Brosnan–Helen Mirren reunion in the DC Universe. With Brosnan playing Dr. Fate in Black Adam and Mirren as the Hespera in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, the possibility of these two icons crossing paths didn’t feel far-fetched.
Unfortunately, what should have been The Rock’s defining superhero moment ended up one of the Dceu’s most forgettable entries, an overproduced spectacle with an abundance of loud action and CGI but little heart or strong character work. And yet, amid the chaos, Brosnan’s performance as Dr. Fate shone like a beacon. He carried himself like a man who had lived for centuries, and every moment he appeared, the film seemed to steady itself.
That took me back to the 1980’s The Long Good Friday,...

Hollywood stars Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren have revealed an interesting connection between Tom Hardy and their new movie, The Thursday Murder Club. In a recent appearance on The Today Show, Brosnan and Mirren revealed that they received the offer for the British crime drama, MobLand, while working on the Netflix movie.
Mirren explained that though the script wasn’t complete at that point, she was eager to join, especially knowing Tom Hardy was involved. “We obviously knew that Tom Hardy was involved, and I think both of us should have known that was gonna be a great thing,” the actress said.
The former James Bond star also recalled receiving the offer through their agent. “We had the same agent… and he sent to me, Guy Ritchie, five episodes. I said ‘I’m doing it, I wanna go back to London,'” Brosnan shared. And soon, they were playing a married couple in MobLand.

It’s crazy to think now, but not too long ago there was a huge stigma around online dating. Maybe people were scared of being catfished, but back in the day it was considered pretty risky, as you never knew if people really matched up to their profiles. However, apps such as Tinder really changed the game, and now those apps are getting the Social Network treatment (which itself is getting a sequel) with Swiped, a biopic of Tinder co-founder and Bumble creator Whitney Wolfe Herd, which is premiering at TIFF and will hit Hulu on September 19th. Check out the trailer embedded above.
Lily James stars as Herd, with the movie tackling her rise to fame as one of the faces of Tinder, only for her to eventually resign from the company due to tension with the execs. As the trailer shows, a lack of safeguards for female users...

Do you ever go back and watch an awesome 90s film only to have a dark realization come over you that films will never be made that way again? That most of what you’re witnessing on screen would be a digitized shell of itself today? Today’s movie is one of those. A film that was released surrounded by such a golden age of special effects and practical filmmaking feats, we couldn’t possibly have appreciated it appropriately at the time. Not only was this disaster movie a spectacle to witness on the big screen, but scientifically responsible enough to be shown in science classes decades later. Something you’ll never say about Armageddon. Unless your science teacher had a drinking problem. Dante’s Peak was not only up against an audience on the cusp of disaster fatigue after the successful releases of Twister, Outbreak, and Independence Day. It was...

The Thursday Murder Club is an upcoming crime-comedy movie starring Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan in the lead roles. It is not based on real life but instead is an adaptation of Richard Osman’s 2020 novel of the same name.
Although the source material isn’t based on any real crimes or murders, Osman drew from real-life incidents and situations to pen the novel. In a press release from Netflix, Osman revealed he found inspiration at his mom’s retirement community.
The idea that these people with their wisdom and their invisibility would be the perfect people to solve [a crime] is exactly where The Thursday Murder Club comes from.
Osman made the above statement, revealing how he felt the residents of the retirement community were overlooked, but soon realized they had enough wisdom to solve a murder. As a result, it is safe to say that The Thursday Murder Club isn’t a true story,...

It may have taken 50 years, but it's finally happening: a Space Invaders movie is officially in the works. The original Space Invaders game was released in 1978 and has a simple premise: the player controls a spaceship and shoots down the invading aliens. However, that won't stop a movie adaptation from being made, and it couldn't come at a better time, with successful video game adaptations like A Minecraft Movie dominating the box office and HBO's The Last of Us receiving critical acclaim. Moreover, a creative team has already been attached to the project.
According to an exclusive report from Deadline, New Line Cinema has recruited screenwriters Ben Zazove and Evan Turner to write the script for the Space Invaders movie, stating that it will be directly inspired by the Taito arcade game that has become so iconic. No specific story details have been revealed yet, as the project is still...

Netflix’s upcoming mystery drama, The Thursday Murder Club, is directed by Harry Potter and Home Alone veteran Chris Columbus. Based on the bestselling novel by Richard Osman, the director is more than happy to be on board, but there is one thing in particular he loves the most about the film: the cast! Drawing a parallel to his time working on the first two Harry Potter films, Columbus remarked to Netflix:
This is the finest cast I’ve worked with since Potter. They’re just so incredibly well-prepared, and it’s because they do everything. They do theater, they do television, they do film, and they’ve developed those sorts of muscles.
Starring Hollywood legends like Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie as the four main members of the Thursday Murder Club, the film also stars Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Tom Ellis, Jonathan Pryce, David Tennant,...

Ben Zazove & Evan Turner Tapped To Pen ‘Space Invaders’ Film For New Line Based On Taito Arcade Game
Exclusive: New Line has enlisted screenwriters Ben Zazove and Evan Turner to pen a Space Invaders movie, inspired by the classic Taito arcade game, Deadline has learned.
No word yet on specifics, as to the story they’re spinning here. Weed Road Pictures’ Akiva Goldsman will produce alongside Safehouse Pictures partners Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell, with Greg Lessans & Rachel Wizenberg overseeing for Weed Road, and Matt Schwartz overseeing for Safehouse Pictures.
One of history’s most iconic arcade games, and one of the pioneering titles in the shoot ’em up gaming genre, Space Invaders tasks players with defending Earth from an alien invasion, shooting down waves of invaders moving across the screen before they reach the ground. Tomohiro Nishikado developed the title, released by Taito in 1978.
Space Invaders‘ commercial success has been described as the catalyst for the golden age of arcade gaming in the late ’70s and early ’80s.

The nineties was the heyday of the mid-level action hero. Jean Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal churned out a whole series of increasingly profitable action programmers in the early part of the decade. Seagal’s movies were wildly profitable for Warner Bros, while Van Damme had a home at Universal Pictures. Every studio wanted its own Jcvd or Seagal, with Paramount trying to launch Jeff Speakman with The Perfect Weapon (which has a devoted fan in our own writer Ej Tangonan) and Fox even trying with football player Howie Long in Firestorm. One studio that badly wanted their own action guy was New Line Cinema, but before they found their niche in the genre with Rumble in the Bronx and Mortal Kombat, they tried to launch two promising action heroes. One was Thomas Ian Griffith, whose (pretty awesome) action flick Excessive Force was only given a small regional release.

MobLand is on its summer vacation, but if you think the Harrigans are keeping things on the Dl, they’re doing a terrible job keeping a low profile. Netflix has unveiled the final trailer forThe Thursday Murder Club, the star-studded adaptation of Richard Osman’s global best-seller — and its cast is clearly having the time of their lives running around a retirement home, solving murders, and brewing the perfect cup of tea. If you put the milk in first, you deserve prison time.
Arriving globally on August 28, 2025, the film marks Chris Columbus’ return to big-budget moviemaking. This time, the Home Alone and Harry Potter filmmaker trades in witches, wizards, and a psychotic child at Christmas time for something a little more low-key… at least on the surface. Think Knives Out by way of Calendar Girls, with a sprinkle of Midsomer Murders — not as much blood, but you'll definitely enjoy it with a biscuit or two.

MobLand stars Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren are trading organized crime for cold-case murders in Netflix's new mystery comedy, The Thursday Murder Club.Based on the best-selling debut novel by Richard Osman, the upcoming adaptation looks to bring the twist-filled book to life, and it already looks like a treat for fans of the instantly-recognizable cast.
Netflix has dropped an all-new trailer for The Thursday Murder Club, which features Brosnan, Mirren, Ben Kingsley and Celia Imri putting their detective hats on to solve cold-case murders. However, when someone dies at their doorstep, it is up to their mystery-solving club to investigate the possible murder. Brosnan plays an ex-union activist named Ron Ritchie, who, in the book, is a farcry from the generally suave roles played by the former James Bond actor. Mirren is Elizabeth Best, an ex-spy, while Kingsley plays an ex-psychiatrist named Ibrahim Arif. Rounding out the group is x-nurse Joyce Meadowcroft,...

The Thursday Murder Club is an upcoming crime-comedy starring Helen Mirren and co-produced by Steven Spielberg‘s Amblin Entertainment. As a result, it marks the Academy Award-winning director’s return to the crime-comedy genre after almost two decades, in the role of a producer.
Spielberg directed 2002’s Catch Me If You Can, starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role. In the following years, Spielberg has mostly shied away from crime comedies, even as he amassed a lengthy list of producer credits. As a result, The Thursday Murder Club marks a full-circle moment for Spielberg, even if he isn’t directly involved with the project.

There aren't any filmmakers who want their movies to lose money and fade into obscurity, so it's probably comforting to know that the streaming era can give flops a new lease of life. Recently, John Cena and Alison Brie's "Freelance" soared to the top of Netflix's charts — two years after it bombed at the box office and got put on blast by critics. Similarly, Nicole Kidman's "Holland" has been killing it on Prime, despite being embraced with predominant negativity upon release.
What's more, some forgotten blasts from the past are also resonating with modern audiences. According to FlixPatrol, Brett Ratner's "After the Sunset" — a heist comedy starring Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek released in 2024 — has crept into Netflix's top 10 on August 5, sitting alongside some of the streaming service's original hits like "Happy Gilmore 2" and the animated gem "K-Pop Demon Hunters."

David Tennantis a small-screen icon known for portraying some of the most famous and beloved characters in television. Taylor Sheridan has a trio of hit shows that are set to return to Paramount+ later this year, but one series that won’t be back with another season is still finding streaming success. Sheridan is the creator of 1923, the Yellowstone prequel show starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as Jacob and Cara Dutton. 1923 Season 2 earned a perfect 100% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and although it aired its final episode earlier this year in April, the show has still been a consistent force on streaming charts. It’s even closing in on MobLand, the Guy Ritchie-directed series starring Tom Hardy and Pierce Brosnan. MobLand earned a much lower but still respectable 75% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and the show has already been renewed for a second season, unlike 1923.
Taylor Sheridan is currently hard at work filming the second season of Landman, which is due to premiere this December.

The idea that Taron Egerton doesn’t see himself as James Bond is, frankly, baffling. The actor has every tool in the shed: charm, grit, screen presence, dramatic range, and yet he insists he wouldn’t be a “good choice for it”. That’s not humility; it’s probably hesitation dressed in modesty. With Denis Villeneuve officially announced to direct the next installment of the franchise and Amazon eager to revamp 007 for a new era, casting someone like Egerton isn’t just a safe bet; it’s the smart one.
Yes, Egerton has shrugged off the rumors, saying (via Collider):
I really love James Bond and particularly Daniel Craig’s tenure. But I think I wouldn’t be good at it, and I think there’s so many cool, younger actors who would be great for it. I think it would be wasted on me, probably.

Billy Bob Thornton leads a high-stakes drama set in the ruthless world of Texas oil.
When I think Paramount+, my brain usually goes straight to the “Yellowstone” universe that includes “1883” and “1923” — or maybe those big franchise shows like “Star Trek” and “NCIS.” But if you just signed up for the platform, there’s one drama I think you should hit play on first. I’m talking about “Landman.” It’s gritty, smart, and totally gripping, with Billy Bob Thornton delivering one of those performances that just locks you in. Here’s why “Landman” is the must-watch drama on Paramount+ if you’re a brand new subscriber.

"Schindler's List," "Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace," "Taken," and "Batman Begins" are really just the tip of the iceberg in the fruitful and long acting career Liam Neeson has had so far. Easily one of the best of his generation, the Northern Ireland-born actor's prowess and versatility are nothing short of astonishing. Few things demonstrate that better than the fact that at 73, Neeson is now starring in 2025's "The Naked Gun" as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Leslie Nielsen's immortal buffoonish detective in the spoof comedy franchise. Ever since his career began in the late 1970s, Neeson has portrayed controversial and unforgettable historical figures, superheroes, mentors, worrying fathers, and even skilled killing machines among a vast array of other characters in over 100 features.

Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek have appeared in many successful movies. Beyond starring as James Bond, Brosnan played lead roles in The Thomas Crown Affair and Mamma Mia!, the latter of which initially generated over $610 million and warranted a sequel. He also joined Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Black Adam.
Hayek, who gained recognition in From Dusk Till Dawn and earned an Academy Award nomination for Frida, has several notable hits under her belt. Among them are star-studded comedies Grown Ups and The Hitman's Bodyguard. Hayek has also been part of major franchises through Eternals and the Puss in Boots movies.
Brosnan and Hayek have even starred in a few movies together, the most recent being Some Kind of Beautiful. The rom-com premiered in 2015 with an underwhelming box office performance, weakened by a mere 6% Tomatometer score, despite a cast that included Jessica Alba and Malcolm McDowell.

Amazon can already hear the strains of John Barry’s iconic theme paired with that gun barrel shot — the one to which Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig have all leant their figures. CEO Andy Jassey said on a July 31 call (which highlighted his company’s better-than-expected Q3 earning) that “James Bond is in the hands of one of today’s greatest filmmakers,” and adding, “We cannot wait to get started on 007’s next adventure.”
Jassey is referring to none other than Denis Villeneuve, who was announced in June as the next director to take on the franchise — which already has 25 official releases in its canon. Villeneuve will have the unique position of being the first steward to not be collaborating with the Broccoli family, which has overseen every Bond movie since “Dr. No” in 1962.

Things are looking up for the next James Bond film, with Denis Villeneuve directing and Steven Knight penning the screenplay. An admitted Bond fan, Knight said he has high hopes for the franchise as it ventures into a new and bolder direction.
Steven Knight said writing the next James Bond film is a milestone for his career. That's quite a statement coming from Peaky Blinder's creator. "It's fantastic to be invited to do it," he told BBC 5 Live Breakfast. "I can't wait to get started." There's mounting anticipation about where the franchise is headed after Amazon acquired MGM; Daniel Craig's run has also ended, and fans are expecting a reboot. South Park Season 27 appears to have no intentions to tone down its political satire, as its creators make way to avoid the censorship backlash similar to one of its most infamous episodes. The show faced significant controversy for Season 5 Episode 3, Super Best Friends, due to its depiction of religious figures. As a result, the episode has been pulled from streaming platforms and is no longer available for rental and purchase.

Episode 2, set to premiere August 6, 2025, is expected to continue the sharp satire introduced in the premiere, Sermon on the ‘Mount’. While the episode is likely to cause controversy, it isn’t expected to suffer the same fate as the show’s most infamous episode, as the show has since evolved its method of satire.

James Bond is one of the most recognizable characters of all time, and many great actors have left their mark after playing him. Following Daniel Craig's run as Bond in several films, everyone is looking forward to finding out who the next star is.
Many British actors have been fancasted in the role, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston, Taron Egerton, and more. Among the casting rumors is Spider-Man's Tom Holland, who has experience in the action genre beyond his role as the superhero character. Pierce Brosnan will always be known for his work as James Bond, but just a few years after he suited up as 007 for the final time, he led a star-studded thriller that’s finally coming back to streaming. Brosnan stars alongside Woody Harrelson (True Detective), Salma Hayek (Grown Ups), and Don Cheadle (Iron Man 2) in After the Sunset, a 2004 heist film following a master thief who pulls off his last big score, and an FBI agent who promised he’d capture him. After previously not streaming anywhere, Netflix has swooped in and made the film available to watch for all subscribers starting at the beginning of this month on August 1. After the Sunset earned abysmal scores of 18% from critics and 52% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and the film grossed only $62 million at the box office against a $60 million budget.

An Oxford-set college rom-com from the guy behind The Inbetweeners; the return of one of Netflix’s biggest ever shows; Genndy Tartakovsky’s latest adult animated project; Vanessa Kirby’s return to more intimate dramas about the human condition; a documentary that promised to shed new light on the Jussie Smollett hate crime incident; and a murder mystery film featuring several British and Irish acting icons are some of the highlights among the new films and series hitting Netflix in August.

If there’s any truth to rumors that Tom Holland is in the running to play James Bond, he’s keeping it top-secret for now.
As the BAFTA winner returns to one major franchise with Friday’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day teaser, he recently commented on “speculation” that he’s up for the coveted part in the Denis Villeneuve-helmed update of the franchise.
“Listen, there’s speculation at the minute. We’ll keep it to a minimum for now,” he said in a video on Gordon Ramsay’s YouTube. “We’ll get there one day.”
Holland added, “Every young British actor, it’s the pinnacle of working in our industry. I already consider myself to be the luckiest kid alive. I could never have dreamed to have the career that I’ve had.”
