Gerard Butler and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's Divisive Fantasy Team-Up Is Back on Netflix
Image
Few action stars have built up as impressive a resume as Gerard Butler has over the years, but after starring in 20 years worth of action movies, it’s only natural that there’s going to be some misses. 2016 brought on the release of Gods of Egypt, the fantasy thriller in which Butler stars alongside Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones) and Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther). The controversial film had been absent from streaming for a few months now, but Netflix has since made it available to watch for all subscribers. Gods of Egypt was poorly received upon its release, earning “Rotten” scores of 15% from critics and 37% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. The film also flopped at the box office, grossing only $150 million at the box office against a $140 million budget.

Gods of Egypt was met with harsh criticism upon its release for poor casting choices, particularly the whitewashing extremely present in...

Green Lantern Show Adds Another Cast Member in an Unexpected Role
Image
HBO's upcoming Lanterns, based on DC's Green Lantern comics, has added actor Cary Christopher to its cast. Details about Christopher's role in the series have just emerged.

Deadlinereports that Christopher will play Young Noah, who is described as "a polite and charming small-town kid." The character synopsis goes on to say that Noah is "quite gifted for his age and effortless good at whatever he tries, he's happiest when passing a football." Christopher will have a guest role in the Lanterns series, after previously being known for acting in Days of Our Lives, High Potential, and, most recently, Zach Cregger's horror film Weapons.

Christopher joins the previously announced cast members for Lanterns, which includes Kyle Chandler as the legendary Green Lantern Hal Jordan, Aaron Pierre as the new Green Lantern recruit John Stewart, Kelly Macdonald as the town sheriff Kerry and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, reprising his role...

Elon Musk’s Latest AI Frontier: “Spicy” Deepfakes Of Stars Like Scarlett Johansson & Taylor Swift
Image
Elon Musk’s journey from AI alarmist to AI evangelist has played out noisily on X/Twitter, but now the mercurial billionaire is touting the latest frontier for the technology: a rapid video generation tool that is being used to create deepfake nudes of celebrities.

Grok Imagine was rolled out this week to Apple users and has gone “hyperviral,” with more than 34M images generated in the space of 48 hours, according to Musk. Available through a $30 SuperGrok subscription, users type a text prompt, creating a still image almost instantly. These images can then be turned into a short video using four presets: “Custom,” “Normal,” “Fun,” and “Spicy.”

Of the four, “Spicy” mode quickly garnered attention, turning seemingly innocuous image prompts into lewd snippets. Unlike other generative AI video tools that block celebrity text prompts, Grok Imagine has allowed users to imagine some of the most famous women on the planet in a state of undress.

Sony's Spider-Verse Reportedly Expanding With Another Movie
Image
A lot of attention is being paid to the live-action Spider-Man movie being filmed in Glasgow, Scotland right now. The fourth MCU Spider-Man movie, it will see Tom Holland return to the role, and team up with Frank Castle, aka The Punisher.

But that’s not the only Spidey project in the works over at Sony Pictures. In fact, they have an ever expanding roster of Spider-Man related pictures and series, to which we are now adding one more.

Sony Reportedly Is Planning A Spider-Punk Movie Image via Sony Animation Pictures

Deadline is reporting that Sony Pictures Animation is developing a feature-length film centered on Hobie Brown, aka Spider-Punk. The breakout character was introduced in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse—the second film in a planned trilogy—and was voiced by Nope and Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya.

In my opinion, Hobie Brown was a scene-stealer in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Spider-Punk Movie In Development At Sony Pictures Animation With Daniel Kaluuya On Board
Image
Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson's Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse gave us a great many things: a sprawling tale of becoming and belonging; not one but five visually distinct, eye-poppingly animated new worlds; and enough new Spider-People to fill a whole damn Spider Society. But of all the new things the Into The Spider-Verse sequel gave us, Daniel Kaluuya's electrifying anarchist Hobie Brown — aka Spider-Punk — may well be the greatest. And clearly the folks at Sony Pictures Animation agree, as Deadline are reporting that the studio is in early development on a solo Spider-Punk animated feature.

Set to be co-written by Kaluuya alongside Ajon Singh, whose sole screenwriting credit to date is upcoming Robert Pattinson A24 joint Primetime, precious little is known about what Spider-Punk's first headline gig will entail. In fact, although we would absolutely presume Kaluuya will be back to voice Earth-138B's swaggering,...

'Spider-Man' Spin-Off in the Works With 'Spider-Verse's Daniel Kaluuya as Spider-Punk
Image
Spider-Verse fans may still have to wait a few more years until Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse hits theaters, but another installment in the franchise is already in the works. It's being reported that a standout character from Across the Spider-Verse is set to receive his own feature film, and the original voice actor is heavily involved in the creative process.

Deadline reports that an animated film based on Spider-Punk from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is in early development. Daniel Kaluuya is set to reprise his role, as well as co-write the screenplay alongside Ajon Singh (Primetime). No director is attached to the project yet, but it seems to be the next Spider-Verse film heading to cinemas after Beyond the Spider-Verse in 2027. Hobie Brown, aka Spider-Punk, was introduced in Across the Spider-Verse as one of the many alternate versions of the superhero, and someone who closely aligns himself with Miles Morales...

Daniel Kaluuya Set to Write and Direct New Spider-Punk Movie
Image
After becoming a fan-favorite variant in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, one Spider is getting ready for his solo. Per Deadline, Sony Pictures Animation is developing a new animated film centered on the hard-rocking Spider-Punk, aka Hobie Brown. Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya, who voiced the character in Miles Morales's multiverse adventure, will be picking up the pen this time to co-write the story with Ajon Singh. It's expected that he'll also jump back into the role of Hobie, though plot details and other specifics about the project have yet to be shared.

It's unclear at this time whether the Spider-Punk movie will connect to Christopher Miller and Phil Lord's Spider-Verse in some way, or if it's meant as a standalone story pulled from the comics. Hobie was created by Dan Slott and artist Olivier Coipel as an anti-establishment, punk-rock Spider-Man hailing from a world dominated by corporations and ruled under a fascist dictatorship.

Spider-Punk Rocks On: Daniel Kaluuya & Ajon Singh Team Up for Sony Animated Movie
Image
Sony Pictures Animation is making a new animated movie all about Spider-Punk. Deadline reports that the project is in the very early stages and will be written by Daniel Kaluuya and Ajon Singh.

Kaluuya, who starred in Judas and the Black Messiah, voiced Spider-Punk in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Singh is known for his work on Primetime.

The movie’s story is still a secret. No release date has been announced, and no other cast or crew have been confirmed. But it wouldn’t be a surprise if Kaluuya plays Spider-Punk again. He’s already set to return as the voice in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which comes out in 2027.

Spider-Punk is a different kind of Spider-Man. His real name is Hobart Brown, and he comes from an alternate universe called Earth-138. Instead of wearing the usual red-and-blue suit, he’s a punk rocker with a spiky mohawk, ripped clothes,...

Daniel Kaluuya & Ajon Singh Developing Spider-Punk Animated Feature at Sony
Image
Sony Pictures Animation is working on a brand-new animated movie all about Spider-Punk. Deadline says the film is still in the very early stages, but it’s coming from Daniel Kaluuya, who you might know from Judas and the Black Messiah, and writer Ajon Singh, who worked on Primetime. The two are writing it together.

Right now, there’s no story revealed, no release date, and no other names attached. But since Kaluuya voiced Spider-Punk in 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and will return for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, it’s easy to guess he’ll probably voice him again for this movie.

Spider-Punk, whose real name is Hobart Brown, isn’t your typical friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

He’s from a different universe known as Earth-138. Instead of swinging around to stop random crooks, Hobie is all about fighting back against corrupt governments and greedy corporations.

He’s got a mohawk,...

Spider-Punk Animated Feature From Daniel Kaluuya & Ajon Singh In Development At Sony
Image
Exclusive: Sony Pictures Animation is in early development on a Spider-Punk animated feature from co-writers Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah) and Ajon Singh (Primetime), Deadline has learned.

Plot details are under wraps, and there are no other deals in place at this time. The natural assumption, of course, is that Kaluuya will reprise the role of Spider-Punk, which he played in 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and will reprise in the upcoming Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Created by writer Dan Slott and artist Olivier Coipel, Spider-Punk (aka Hobie Brown) is a version of Spider-Man who leans into a more anarchistic, anti-establishment attitude than Peter Parker’s version. Residing on Earth-138, the character is fueled by his desire to help take down corrupt systems. He first appeared during a Spider-Verse crossover event, as part of 2015’s The Amazing Spider-Man #10.

Across the Spider-Verse is the second film in a trilogy...

‘Weapons’ Review: The Kids Are Far From All Right in a Hypnotic Horror Mystery That Pits Parents Against Teachers
Image
Spoiler Alert: The following review contains mild spoilers.

At 2:17 a.m. on a school night, 17 children go missing all at once. They get up out of bed, open their front doors and run out into the night, arms outstretched, like stealthy little airplanes flying low across the lawns of their sleepy suburban community. The kids have one thing in common: They are all students in Justine Gandy’s third-grade class, which now sits empty, save for a shy boy named Alex, who’s as bewildered as the town’s angry parents that he was spared such a peculiar fate.

It’s an intriguing place to start a horror movie, made all the more unconventional by “Weapons” writer-director Zach Cregger’s choice to let a local girl describe the movie’s ostensibly supernatural premise. Just how much of the shocking and surprisingly gory events that follow could she have been privy to?...

‘Unmistakable gentleness’: why Pig is my feelgood movie
Nicolas Cage at an event for Drive Angry (2011)
The latest in our series of writers on their go-to comfort watches is Nicolas Cage’s foodie revenge drama

Guardian writers on their ultimate feelgood move

Michael Sarnoski’s Pig is not an obvious feelgood movie. Its hero is a bedraggled hermit named Robin (Nicolas Cage) who lives in the woods with his pet pig. Robin is kind of a tough hang – a sullen misanthrope who just barely tolerates the occasional presence of Amir (Alex Wolff), the young businessman who buys truffles from him. We don’t know who Robin was before, but it’s clear that life has taken a lot from him already. And then someone steals his damn pig.

He sets off to rescue her and soon finds himself drawn into the grubby underbelly of Portland’s culinary scene, where chefs and waiters take part in bare-knuckled fights. We learn that Robin himself was once an esteemed chef and,...

Every Single Superman Actor (Movies and TV) Ranked!
Image
Who’s your definitive Superman? Is it George Reeves in his strongman leotard? Maybe it’s Henry Cavill, playing the most Superman-looking Superman I’ve ever seen. Or perhaps it’s the wholesome farm boy Clark Kent, played by Tom Welling on Smallville. Whoever your favourite is, today we’re celebrating every major live-action take on the Man of Steel, across both big and small screens. We recently published an article on cinematic portrayals, but now we’ve decided to take a bigger swing. We’ve rounded up nine major portrayals, and we’re ranking them based not on the movies or shows they were in, but purely on the performance and depiction of Superman himself. That’s right—this is about the actors and how well they embodied the character.

#9: Nicolas Cage (Superman Lives)

This barely counts, and that’s why it’s at the bottom. Cage was...

Watch ‘Megadoc’ Trailer: Mike Figgis’ Venice-Bound Doc On Francis Coppola’s Making Of ‘Megalopolis’
Image
Exclusive: Catch the first trailer for Megadoc, the making-of-Megalopolis documentary that has its world premiere coming up at the Venice Film Festival.

The film was acquired for release by Utopia, and follows from first steps the making of Francis Coppola’s provocative vision of the parallels between the fall of Rome with the current seismic shakeups taking place in today’s world. The docu is done in the spirit of Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse, the chronicle of Coppola making Apocalypse Now that won two Primetime Emmy Awards in 1992. This one answers the question of how an iconic director like Coppola could spent $120 million of his own money on a film that made its debut at Cannes in 2024, complete with workshop scenes that include myriad stars who came on but fell off a film that took so long to mount.

Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider Legacy
Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes in Ghost Rider (2007)

In today’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, a world brimming with beloved characters and interconnected blockbusters, it’s easy to forget a time before its dominance — an era of individual superhero films. Some of these spawned sequels but often fell short of critical acclaim, much like Fantastic Four: First Steps and others. However, one film from that pre-mcu landscape has quietly ridden into cult status: 2007’s Ghost Rider. At the center of this enduring appeal is the Nicolas Cage Ghost Rider legacy, built on the Academy Award winner’s unique and unforgettable portrayal of the fiery antihero.

The Enduring Appeal: Ghost Rider’s Cult Legacy

Based on the Marvel comic, Ghost Rider follows Johnny Blaze, a motorcycle stuntman who makes a devil’s bargain, selling his soul to become a supernatural agent of vengeance. Cage, known for his unique and often exhilaratingly over-the-top acting style, brought his...

Nicolas Cage at an event for Drive Angry (2011)
Nicolas Cage loves 1994’s Clifford way more than you think he does – and Martin Short has the story
Nicolas Cage at an event for Drive Angry (2011)
It’s the year 1996. Nicolas Cage has just won Best Actor for Leaving Las Vegas. The promotional circuit has put him on the grind and when all is said and done he has other movies to talk about. But it’s not one of his – no, it’s one starring Martin Short. While many of us have come to appreciate 1994’s Clifford – or were fans from the get-go – we wouldn’t necessarily have expected an Oscar winner to praise it. And yet, that’s just what Nicolas Cage did when he first met Martin Short.

Clifford star Martin Short recently shared an anecdote in Interview, saying he couldn’t wait to meet Nicolas Cage after his utterly brilliant turn as an alcoholic in Mike Figgis’ Leaving Las Vegas. But Cage – as he probably always does – had other things on the brain. Yes, we’re talking about Dinosaur World. As Short...

SNL Alum Andy Samberg Says Nicolas Cage was the 'Nicest' Guest, Even When Being Personally Impersonated on Set
Image
Saturday Night Liveveteran Andy Samberg opens up about his experience impersonating Nicolas Cage straight to his face.

Per Entertainment Weekly, Samberg discussed his time working with Cage on SNL during a recent appearance on Conan O'Brien's Conan O'Brien Need a Friend podcast. 'I obviously didn't want him to hate me because I respect his work so much," Samberg said of the Hollywood icon, who appeared as himself during a Weekend Update segment alongside Samberg's own iteration of Nicolas Cage.

"And the reason I have an impression is because I've watched a thousand hours of Nic Cage. It's embedded in me somewhere," Samberg added. He went on to state that Cage was the "nicest" during their appearance together, noting that the Academy Award-winner "went all in." Samberg added, "It feels crackly and fun, and he was just a joy." The Weekend Update segment in question aired during a 2012 episode of SNL,...

Image
American Hustle Ott Release Update (Photo Credit – Prime Video)

Christian Bale took a sharp turn after finishing his time as Bruce Wayne. A year after closing that chapter, he stepped into the flashy, scheming world of American Hustle, a slick period drama built on cons and lies. The film, set in the late 1970s, follows a seasoned con man and his sharp partner, both forced to work under an unpredictable FBI agent who pulls them into the mess of New Jersey’s underworld. Amy Adams and Bradley Cooper share the screen with Bale, all tangled in a story of scams, style, and, of course, power.

American Hustle Streaming Date Revealed

According to Collider, American Hustle will be available to stream on Paramount+ starting August 1. It had previously been on Pluto TV but now arrives on a bigger platform with a 92% critics rating and over $250 million in global earnings.

The #1 Movie of All Time According to IMDb Is This 89% Fresh Stephen King Film That Lands on Peacock in August
Image
Many films are considered some of the best of all time but one of them stands out: The Shawshank Redemption. The epic prison drama is based on Stephen King's novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, and is widely singled out as the best adaptation of his works.

The Shawshank Redemption premiered in 1994, with Frank Darabont writing and directing. The movie starred Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, and although it has received critical acclaim for its message of perseverance and hope, it flopped in theaters when it came out. It has since become one of the most beloved films, and fans will get a chance to watch The Shawshank Redemption again soon as it's heading to Peacock on Aug. 1.

The prison drama film based on King's 1982 novella follows banker Andy Dufresne (Robbins), who is sentenced to two consecutive life sentences in Shawshank State Penitentiary for the murders of his wife and her lover,...

The 10 Greatest Three-Movie Runs by an Actor Ever
Image
What is the greatest three-movie run by an actor? Well, first, let me define what I mean by greatest, and what I mean by three-movie run. For my purposes, “greatest” is measured by an equal consideration of movie quality, performance quality, box office, and pop culture relevance. In other words, the films/performances have to be good and well-known. Now, a three-movie run just means three consecutive films in an actor’s filmography. I’m going based on release date, so sometimes having multiple films in a year removes an actor from contention.

So, a good three-movie run is not easy to pull off.. There are a lot of well-known actors who don’t even sniff this list. Here are a few actors you won’t see in the Top 10: Matt Damon, Ethan Hawke, Nicolas Cage, Matthew McConaughey Bradley Cooper. I tried to get a Jack Nicholson 1970’s run on the list,...

Keeper: Osgood Perkins Is Back (Again) With Eerie New Horror – Watch The Cryptic Teaser
Image
Osgood Perkins has been hard at work. Last year he brought us what could arguably be Nicolas Cage’s freakiest performance yet in Longlegs, and earlier this year he delivered the harpoon-shooting, side-splitting (literally) horror-comedy The Monkey. Now, the director looks to be pivoting back to darker horror territory, as the trailer for his latest flick, Keeper, has just hit the web — and you can watch it below:

That’s one cryptic teaser, seemingly more in line with the weird and flat-out incredible marketing campaign for Perkins' first Neon horror joint, Longlegs. The teaser gives us a mix of ominous figures reacting directly to the camera — one of the more prominent being Christin Park, who appears in multiple shots, reacting to the camera as if it’s a person. Anyone else getting flashbacks to Elijah Wood’s Pov horror Maniac?

Plot details for this one are sparse. So far, all...

A New Era of Spider-Man Noir Begins With a Legend at the Helm
Image
Spider-Man Noir was a standout character in the hit Spider-Verse films, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and he is about to star in his own live action TV series on MGM+ starring Nicolas Cage. Now, in a Cbr exclusive announcement, we are happy to reveal that Spider-Man Noir is returning to the world of comics, as well!

Marvel will be releasing a brand-new Spider-Man Noir series in October, and it will be written by a surprising classic Spider-Man creator, as Erik Larsen, who was one of the best-selling Spider-Man artists of all-time after he followed Todd McFarlane on Amazing Spider-Man, and who also followed McFarlane as the writer/artist on Spider-Man before leaving Marvel to found Image Comics in 1992, is returning to the Spider-Man mythos with this new series, which will be drawn by Andrea Broccardo.

What is the solicitation for the new Spider-Man Noir series?...

How Law Firm Ramo’s Sales and Financing Arm Brought Paul Schrader’s ‘Oh, Canada’ and Other Indie Films Across the Finish Line
Image
The process of shepherding an independent movie from ideation to completion is like carrying an armful of eggs through a minefield on the edge of a slippery cliff overlooking a lake of fire: There are numerous ways it can go catastrophically wrong at any moment, and it’s almost guaranteed that some shells are going to crack.

On Paul Schrader’s “Oh, Canada” — about a dying filmmaker (Richard Gere) who gives a former student (Jacob Elordi) a final demythologizing interview — the life-flashes-before-you moment came on the last day of shooting when it looked like production was going to have to shut down.

“We didn’t have all of our financing, and we had to pay the crew,” recalls Tiffany Boyle, president of packaging and sales at the Los Angeles-based law firm Ramo, who served as a producer on the movie.

Fortunately, Boyle was able to call on a trusted financier,...

The Monkey and Longlegs Director's Next Horror Movie Gets an Eerie Sneak Peek
Image
FIlmmaker Osgood Perkins is delivering his next horror movie later this year. To tease its arrival, an eerie teaser trailer has just been released.

From Neon, Keeper is slated for a release on Nov. 14, 2025. For Perkins, it's a follow-up to The Monkey, the Stephen King adaptation the filmmaker released earlier this year. Perkins is also known for helming Longlegs, last year's horror thriller starring Nicolas Cage as a serial killer. Now, fans can see what he's got up his sleeve next by checking out the new trailer for Keeper below.

There's still a lot that's not known about Keeper, which is being touted as a "dark trip from Osgood Perkins," and the teaser doesn't exactly share a lot of info about the plot. It does feature some shots of the movie's various characters, and the imagery seems to get increasingly more disturbing. A woman can be heard saying close to the end of the video,...

Oz Perkins Blends Sci-Fi and Horror in Twisted First Trailer For New Must-Watch Movie
Image
With The Monkey making its way onto Hulu next month, all eyes are on filmmaker Osgood Perkins for his next feature-length production. Luckily, it’s been a winning year and some change for Perkins fans, as, following the release of last summer’s Longlegs, The Monkey exploded into cinemas just a few months later, and now, we’re just a few short months away from his latest trippy horror flick, Keeper. This week, the film’s home studio, Neon, has released a brand-new teaser, giving audiences a look into the madness that will unfold when the Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law) and Rossif Sutherland (Orphan: First Kill) led movie arrives in cinemas on November 14.

There’s been a lot of secrecy surrounding the plot of Keeper, and today’s trailer is no different. From what we can gather, the movie will center around women from different decades and backgrounds,...

Keeper | The third in Osgood Perkins’ wave of horror films is out in November
Image
Mere months after Longlegs and The Monkey, writer-director Osgood Perkins is back with the first teaser for his latest horror, Keeper.

Although he found critical success with his earlier films, including The Blackcoat’s Daughter and Gretel & Hansel, it was 2024’s Longlegs that brought writer-director Osgood Perkins to wider attention and box office success. Although no doubt bolstered by its studio’s ingenious marketing campaign, the film itself – a twisted serial killer thriller – was as itself strikingly well made. Starring Maika Monroe on the trail of a murderer with supernatural powers, and Nicolas Cage in an unforgettably spooky supporting part, it was one of last year’s most memorable genre films.

Incredibly, Longlegs was only one of three movies that Perkins got going in the space of just over a year. Just before Longlegs went into production, he’d written The Monkey, based on the short story by Stephen King,...

Marvel makes the bombshell recast announcement we've waited for
Image
The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Avengers: Doomsday are the three movies leading up to Marvel Studios' biggest project in years, Avengers: Secret Wars. The latter is said to be closely tied to Jonathan Hickman’s Secret Wars.

In Secret Wars, universes were colliding and being destroyed in a multiversal incursion. The Illuminati tried to stop it and failed, but Victor von Doom succeeded. This leads to one world under a god-like Doctor Doom lording over various multiverses. The remaining universes combined into one planet called Battleworld.

After Reed Richards eventually defeats Doctor Doom, he sets Universe-616 back. However, some people like Miles Morales and the Maker (Ultimate Reed Richards) didn’t return to their universe (Earth-1610). Meanwhile, Reed Richards and Sue Storm, along with their kids and the Future Foundation, set off to remake the multiverse.

Thanks to a report from Variety, it sounds like...

Disney Is Finally Making the Nicolas Cage Sequel We've Been Waiting 18 Years For
Image
Disney reportedly has plans to continue Nicolas Cage's most memorable action franchise with the first new sequel in almost 20 years. Cage has been a mainstay in the movie scene for decades, known for hits like Face/Off, Con Air, and most recently, the hit 2024 horror movie Longlegs. If a new rumor is to be believed, his most famous set of films to date is getting a new addition.

A new rumor teased that Disney officially started development on National Treasure 3. Known for kicking off with Cage's Benjamin Franklin Gates stealing the Declaration of Independence, National Treasure became a fan-favorite in 2004 before its sequel, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, continued the story in 2007. After fans clamored for the two films to become a trilogy for years, it seems that Disney is finally answering the call.

According to scooper Daniel Richtman, the National Treasure threequel is on the drawing board,...

Superman Experts Explain What James Gunn Was Able To Do That No Director Has Done in Decades [Exclusive]
Image
Although previously known for his work writing and directing all three Guardians of the Galaxymovies under the MCU banner, James Gunn’s latest project may go on to be his most important. Gunn is the sole writer and director of Superman, the first movie in the new Dcu after the Dceu concluded with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. In addition to writing and directing movies and TV shows, Gunn is also the co-ceo of the newly formed DC Studios with Peter Safran — Gunn controls the creative side of things while Safran makes the business decisions.

Collider’s Chris McPherson recently caught up with Superman experts Robert Greenberger and Edward Gross — who co-wrote the 400+ page Superman: The Definitive History — to talk about the release of James Gunn’s new Dcu movie. He asked what the most challenging part of adapting Superman is, be it on the big or small screen, live-action or animation,...

Michael Jackson Was Upset After Being Rejected For A Tim Burton Movie
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Although Tim Burton's 2005 film adaptation of Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" isn't deeply beloved -- anyone you ask will say they prefer Mel Stuart's 1971 adaptation, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," much better -- it was nonetheless a massive success. It was made for a hefty $150 million, but earned an impressive $476 million at the box office, taking most everyone by surprise. It was also better-reviewed than detractors may remember, fetching an 83% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. "Charlie" was colorful and semi-surreal, utilizing extensive CGI to realize a nightmare carnival rendition of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. Deep Roy played hundreds of Oompa-Loompas, and Danny Elfman wrote music for Dahl's original songs, printed in his original 1964 novel.

Johnny Depp played the unusual, reclusive, childlike Willy Wonka, deliberately evoking Carol Channing (in vocal inflection) and inadvertently...

'Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse' Hit With More Bad News After Numerous Delays
Image
Spider-Man fans hoping to see the conclusion to Miles Morales' (Shameik Moore) journey sooner rather than later are going to have to wait a little longer — again. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has officially been pushed back from its planned release date of June 4, 2027, and will now hit theaters on June 25, 2027. While a three-week shift may not seem massive, it’s just the latest in a string of setbacks for the highly anticipated sequel, which was originally meant to arrive less than a year after 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

The new date was confirmed by Sony, even as production continues behind the scenes. Actors are actively recording their dialogue, but the animation pipeline for the ambitious multiversal trilogy-capper remains a complex beast — especially given the scope teased in the cliffhanger ending of Across the Spider-Verse. Directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson are returning for the finale, which is expected...

‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ Release Pushed Back 3 Weeks
Image
You’ll have to wait slightly longer for the third chapter in Sony Pictures Animation’s “Spider-Verse” movie. “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” is now set for release on June 25, 2027. This is just a three week bump from its last announced release date of June 4, 2027 — and it can’t come soon enough.

“Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” serves as the follow-up to 2023’s “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.” The idea was for the third film to come out right after the sequel, with the first date being March 29, 2024 (less than a year later). There was then the date of June 27, 2025. Of course, due to complications with the SAG-AFTRA strikes, which pushed back voice recording, and additional production delays, the movie was pushed. Earlier this year Sony announced the 2027 date, which they have now slightly adjusted.

The date is perfect since 100% of schools will be out at end of June by that date,...
