Alison Brie Critiques Scream’s “Too Many Survive” Era and Floats a Scream 7 Return
'photo by Matthew Kristall for The Sunday Times Style Magazine'
Alison Brie says she has a “problem” with the current era of the Scream franchise, arguing that “too many people live,” and joking that the “core four needs to die.” In a recent podcast appearance, the Scream 4 alum added that she would happily return for the next film despite her character’s demise, quipping, “Where’s my role in Scream 7?” Her husband and collaborator Dave Franco suggested the series’ loosened rules could allow a comeback via dream or flashback.

Brie also revisited one recent creative choice, calling the death of longtime favorite Dewey a “mistake,” while noting that her affection for the original trio remains intact. The actor played publicist Rebecca Walters in 2011’s Scream 4, the last entry directed by Wes Craven, and her commentary arrives amid renewed fan debate over how aggressively the modern installments dispatch or protect major characters.

Alison Brie Says the ‘Problem With the Current Era’ of ‘Scream’ Is That ‘Too Many People Live’: ‘The Core Four Needs to Die’
Image
Alison Brie has some notes for the franchise if she’s going to return for “Scream 7.”

In a recent podcast episode of “Shut Up Evan,” Brie shared how she recently pitched for her character’s return for “Scream 7” after several of her former castmates were announced to be resurrected for the new film.

“Alison was famously in ‘Scream 4.’ I feel like with new ‘Scream’ rules, even though she dies brutally, we could bring her back,” her husband, Dave Franco, mentioned on the podcast.

Brie added, “Yeah, where’s my role in ‘Scream 7?’

The actress played the book publicist Rebecca Walters in “Scream 4,” who was stabbed in the abdomen by Ghostface and thrown off the edge of a parking garage.

It was previously reported that David Arquette, Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley would reprise their deceased characters in the seventh installment. “Scream” alums Sarah Michelle Gellar...

Alison Brie Wants ‘Scream 7’ Return, Shares “Problem With The Current Era” Of Franchise
Image
Despite her wishes for a higher body count, Alison Brie hopes the Scream franchise could pull off a resurrection in her honor.

The 2x Golden Globe nominee, who played doomed book publicist Rebecca Walters in Scream 4, recently pitched her character’s return for Scream 7 after several familiar faces were announced to be back from the dead.

“Alison was famously in Scream 4. I feel like with new Scream rules, even though she dies brutally, we could bring her back,” her husband Dave Franco noted on the Shut Up Evan podcast, to which she agreed, “Yeah, where’s my role in Scream 7?”

After news that David Arquette, Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley would reprise their deceased characters in the seventh installment, following Skeet Ulrich‘s return in the previous two films, Brie said, “I hear tons of people are coming back. … I mean, Hayden [Panettiere] came back in [tt0117571 autoScream...

Captain America 4 Star’s Dystopian Comedy Is Killing It on Peacock
Image
The second season of Anthony Mackie’s Twisted Metal has just been released, and it is dominating Peacock. While Anthony Mackie is best known for playing Captain America, he has several other notable works that are better examples of his acting skills, and this series is one of them. Even though the season has just been released, Flixpatrol shows that it is the second most-watched series on its streaming platform, sitting just behind Love Island.

While it is difficult to compete with reality television, Mackie’s series is certainly giving tough competition. Starring several notable names like Stephanie Beatriz, Neve Campbell, Will Arnett, and even Thomas Haden Church, season two of the series seems to be doing even better than the first, and the numbers are showing it perfectly.

Alison Brie Says ‘Scream’ Franchise Lets “Too Many People Live” but Calls Dewey’s Death a “Mistake”
Image
Scream 4 alum, Alison Brie, is sharing her thoughts on the revived franchise.

While couple Brie and Dave Franco were promoting their horror film, Together, they appeared on the Shut Up Evan Podcast and Scream was brought up. Brie portrayed Rebecca Walters, Sidney Prescott’s (Neve Campbell) assistant in the 2011 film, which was the last Scream film directed by horror legend Wes Craven, before he died in 2015.

Franco noted, “I feel like with new Scream rules, even though she dies brutally, we could bring her back,” to which Brie responded, “Yeah, where’s my role in Scream 7?”

Indeed, the slasher franchise has famously brought back characters in hallucination sequences like Skeet Ulrich’s Billy Loomis in Scream (2022). Notably, Matthew Lillard’s Stu Macher, David Arquette’s Dewey Riley and Scott Foley’s Roman Bridger, who all died in previous films, will return for the seventh installment.

Twisted Metal season 2 episodes 1-3 review: Irreverent dark humor laced with action
Image
If you’ve never heard of Peacock's Twisted Metal, it’s an action series with humor similar to that of Deadpool. Yeah, there were times I laughed at something which probably shouldn’t be funny, yet it still was. Season 1 introduced us to the post-apocalyptic world and gave us the main characters’ introductions and some backstories.

John Doe (Anthony Mackie) is the protagonist who works as a type of courier called a Milk Man. He meets up with a woman he names Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz), and they work their way across treacherous terrain to deliver a package. His payment for this is to be given residence inside the protected New San Francisco (Nsf). Unfortunately, when he earns passage, she’s denied entry.

Another character, though I wouldn’t particularly call him a protagonist, is a killer clown named Sweet Tooth. This character is played by Joe Seanoa, who is a professional wrestler.

Twisted Metal Season 2 TV Review: Calypso’s tournament begins in the action comedy’s sophomore run
Image
Plot: Following the revelations in the season one finale, John and Quiet find themselves entering the deadly Twisted Metal tournament, a sinister demolition derby hosted by a mysterious man known as Calypso. As they try to survive an onslaught of dangerous new foes and familiar faces alike, including the murderous clown Sweet Tooth, things get complicated for John when he reunites with his long-lost sister, the vigilante Dollface.

Review: The adaptation of the old-school PlayStation video game Twisted Metal debuted in 2023 to mixed reviews. Despite the lukewarm reception from critics, fans seemed to delight in the comedy-action series starring Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz, garnering the show a second season. With the promise of finally delivering on the title tournament, Twisted Metal packs all twelve episodes of its second season with the same quirky comedy and brutal bloodshed that painted the first season red. Twisted Metal Season 2 Review — Explosive, High-Octane Action Abounds in Fun Sophomore Season
Image
Video game adaptations don’t have the best track record, but Peacock’s Twisted Metal was a breath of fresh air, taking the games’ premise and using it to create something rather different. While the second season is seemingly made more with the goal of appeasing fans in mind, it does so mostly without losing the show’s unique appeal.

Twisted Metal Season 2 Review

The second season of Twisted Metal picks up seven months after the first season, with John (Anthony Mackie) and Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz) having moved on to their own lives on the inside and outside of the wall, respectively. However, when a mysterious figure offers the chance for them to enter into a driving tournament to the death, with the winner earning a wish of their choosing, they find themselves teaming up again to try to win.

'Five Nights at Freddy's 2' Will Have a Mini 'Scream' Reunion
Image
Ghostface always gets what he wants..or who he wants. The character has become a familiar face in the world of horror and the real world. You'll often see the scream mask during the Halloween season, which takes you back to 1996, to the first film in the series that started it all. In that movie, of course, you have the stars: Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox. However, Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich also contributed to making the film as iconic as it is today. They portrayed best friends Stu Macher and Billy Loomis, also known as the killer partners in crime, or the double Ghostface. Now, according to an announcement made at San Diego Comic-Con, the two will reunite on screen in Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Matthew Lillard surprised those in attendance at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 in a video. While on the screen,...

"An American Lord of the Rings": 'Twisted Metal' Showrunner Compares Series to the Legendary Trilogy [Exclusive]
Image
The second season of Twisted Metal is almost here, and it's finally about to deliver on the promise of a game-accurate destruction derby. After some major revelations at the end of Season 1, the titular competition is about to begin, and John (Anthony Mackie) and Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz) will have to battle through old friends and foes alike to win the twisted game. The start of the carnage also means the introduction of its host, the sinister, wish-granting Calypso (Anthony Carrigan), and other contestants, who start to lean the show into the more fantastical elements featured in the PlayStation titles. According to showrunner Michael John Smith, it's a slow and steady progression into the more supernatural that hints at much more to this world that he'd love to keep exploring, if he got the chance.

Hang onto your seats! Twisted Metal will return to Peacock at the end of this month, with Anthony Mackie’s hit action series premiering the first three episodes of its second season on July 31. Ahead of Twisted Metal Season 2, Peacock has released another trailer highlighting just how unhinged things are about to become in this post-apocalyptic world for Mackie's John Doe. Season 1 was a brilliant hit with both critics and audiences alike, as represented in the scores on the aggregator website, Rotten Tomatoes. There, the action series came in at 67% with critics and 93% with audiences. Now, ahead of Season 2, it has been revealed how the beginning of Season 2's story will play out.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Wants a "Final Girl" Crossover Movie with 'Halloween' and 'Scream' Stars
Image
Despite there being several genres that are often criticized for not having strong female characters, horror movies have been championing women as being able to outwit everything from face-hugging aliens to supernatural dream demons for decades. Now, as 90s “final girl” Jennifer Love Hewitt prepares to return to her role of Julie James in I Know What You Did Last Summer, the actor has shared a pitch of bringing together several iconic slasher survivors in one kick-ass crossover movie.

While speaking to ExtraTV at the premiere of I Know What You Did Last Summer’s 2025 reboot, the actress was asked what “final girl” crossover she would love to see happen, and said:

“I mean I would have to go to Jamie Lee Curtis. But I feel like a Julie James, Sydney [Prescott], Halloween, like one final girl movie where they all come together to take someone out. That would be bomb.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Teases the Jaw-Dropping Ending of the New ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’
Image
The wait for Jennifer Love Hewitt’s return to the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise is finally over.

This Friday, for the first time in nearly three decades, Hewitt reprises her final-girl role of Julie James in Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025). The legacy sequel reintroduces Julie as a psychology professor, one who fittingly specializes in trauma. Now single, Julie is living a happily quiet life after narrowly surviving two rounds of attacks by murderous fisherman, Ben Willis (Muse Watson), in the late ‘90s.

However, Julie’s past soon catches up to her when Ava Brucks (Chase Sui Wonders) pays her a visit and requests her help in dealing with an all-too-familiar problem. A vengeful Fisherman copycat is now targeting Ava and her friend group of 20-somethings in Julie’s hometown of Southport, North Carolina.

For Hewitt, the decision to return...

Image
Taylor Sheridan loves to cameo in his own stuff as much as he loves horses and creating characters in shows that make no sense. In the case of the "Yellowstone" universe, for example, the world-builder appeared across centuries when he starred in both the flagship series, "Yellowstone" as Travis Wheatley and also his best prequel series, "1883," as Charlie Goodnight, providing one of the rare occasions when fact and fiction collided.

Starring as two different characters in the same universe was something Sheridan should have been used to, though. Long before his name on a script meant as much as it does now, the go-to scribe for Paramount did double duty in another show in 1994 that housed massive talents in the making like Neve Campbell, Matthew Fox, and Jennifer Love-Hewitt. The show was "Party of Five," which spanned six years and spawned a spin-off series of its own (albeit a...

'The Lincoln Lawyer' Star Teases the Arrival of Mickey Haller’s Worst Enemy [Exclusive]
Image
It looks like Mickey Haller’s charm is finally about to meet its match. As Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer speeds toward its highly anticipated fourth season, one thing’s certain: Haller is about to be backed into a legal corner like never before — and according to star Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, the person doing the cornering is an absolute powerhouse.

Constance Zimmer has joined the cast as Dana Berg, a ruthless prosecutor lifted straight from Michael Connelly’s The Law of Innocence — the novel that Season 4 is adapting. Dana isn’t just any adversary. She’s tenacious, sharp, and has zero interest in playing fair, earning herself the ominous nickname “Death Row Dana.” And this time, Mickey Haller isn’t defending the accused. He is the accused.

“Constance, oh my goodness, we had so much fun,” Garcia-Rulfo told Collider's Christina Radish. “It was such a pleasure to have her. I really mean that.

'The Lincoln Lawyer' Star, 44, Teases "A Lot of Maggie and Mickey" in Emotional Season 4 [Exclusive]
Image
After being out of the picture for much of Season 3 of Netflix's The Lincoln Lawyer, Maggie McPherson is about to have a big role in what's being billed as the show's most personal yet. Neve Campbell was promoted to a series regular earlier this year when Season 4 was officially ordered, and it all but assured that the attorney would remain close by her ex-husband Mickey Haller's side as he fights the murder charges against him. It's the perfect time for a comeback, as Maggie has long been a fan favorite and an emotional anchor for Mickey, given the history the characters share. Series star Manuel García-Rulfo promises that their ever-evolving relationship will be front and center in the upcoming run, too.

In the wake of his recent role in Jurassic World Rebirth, García-Rulfo recently sat down with Collider's Christina Radish for a larger profile exploring his journey to stardom.

Twisted Metal Season 2 Trailer Promises Tournament Mayhem As The Outsider Compete For Calypso’s “Wish”
Image
The newTwisted Metal season 2 trailer teases chaos and mayhem with the goal of getting Calypso's "wish." When the adaptation of the video game franchise was announced, fans were unsure of how they would adapt the vehicular combat game into a show. The first season functions primarily as world-building and character introductions, but the end of Twisted Metal season 1 sets up the tournament, which is the core concept of the video games. As such, Twisted Metal season 2 will get into the story that fans are familiar with.

Twisted Metal season 2's trailer promises that the tournament will be just as violent and filled with mayhem as the video games, with the same end goal of getting Calypso's free wish. John Doe, Quiet, and the outsiders will be competing to take down all the walls so that everyone has access to the same resources.

Luckily, fans won't have to wait long...

Twisted Metal Season 2 Trailer Finally Looks Like The Original Video Game (And It's Bonkers)
Image
Buckle up: "Twisted Metal" season 2 is revving its engines for a summer return. The first season of "Twisted Metal" was a total blast, but now, the high-octane mayhem is hitting the gas, blowing stuff up, and, based on the latest trailer, delivering the right dose of chaos that fans have been craving. The Peacock original streaming series, inspired by the vehicular combat video game of the same name, blends road rage, explosions, and dark humor into a uniquely untethered ride, but avoids the same narrative trappings that plague other video game-to-series adaptations. If you were a teen (or tween with cool parents) in the late 1990s or early 2000s, odds are you either played "Twisted Metal" religiously or knew someone who exclusively wore D-Generation X "Suck It" T-shirts who wouldn't shut up about Sweet Tooth and his wasteland ice cream truck. And yet, against all odds, the series has become...

'I Was Very Upset': Halloween Star Laments Losing Role in Another Iconic Horror Film to Neve Campbell
Image
Danielle Harris is a very popular name in the horror community. A former child star, Harris rose to fame by playing Jamie Lloyd, the daughter of Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode, in two Halloween films. As an adult, Harris returned to the franchise by playing Annie Brackett in Rob Zombie's Halloween reboot and its sequel. Additionally, Harris has appeared in a slew of other films, including many horror movies.

Harris recently appeared as a guest for an interview on the Talks From the Crypt podcast, and she reflected on her career. She revealed how fellow scream queen Neve Campbell had been a thorn in her side during the 1990s. As Harris explained, there were two major roles she was gunning for at that time for both the big and small screens, and she happened to lose each of them to the Scream franchise star.

Manuel Garcia-Rulfo Teases Mickey's The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 Story & Why It's His Favorite One Yet: "The Most Emotional Season"
Image
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo has teased Mickey's story in The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 and why the upcoming season of the legal drama is his favorite one so far. The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 ended with Mickey being framed for the murder of Sam Scales, laying the groundwork for season 4, which will adapt Michael Connelly's novel The Law of Innocence.

Speaking with Variety, Garcia-Rulfo explained how emotional The Lincoln Lawyer season 4's story will be, describing the "heaviness" of the story as its biggest strength. The actor explained how, even before shooting began, just reading the scripts made season 4 his favorite in the series so far. Check out what Garcia-Rulfo had to say about the upcoming episodes below:

It’s the most emotional season — heavy emotion — because of how we found him, and a lot of things happen, which I cannot say, but they’re very emotional for me. I told the showrunners...

Why Courteney Cox's Friends Fame Was A Major Obstacle In Her Horror Movie Casting
Image
"Friends" is widely regarded as one of the best sitcoms of all time, but its success has occasionally been frustrating for its main cast members, especially when they have tried to spread their wings. For Courteney Cox (who played the lovable cleanliness freak Monica Gellar for the show's entire duration), it meant becoming synonymous with her character, at least until she was cast as Gale Weathers in the "Scream" movie series. However, she had to fight for the chance to portray the ambitious reporter, as her "Friends" fame gave some people the wrong idea about her talents. As Cox recalled in a 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter:

"[Executive producer] Cary Woods was in my manager's office and she pitched me for the part of Gale. Cary thought it would be a nice surprise to have me play such a calculated character after being on 'Friends' and 'Family Ties,...

'The Most Emotional Season': The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 Gets Exciting Update From Star
Image
The Lincoln Lawyer fans should batten down the hatches for what star Manuel Garcia-Rulfo promises to be the most intense yet. The Mickey Haller actor just wrapped filming on the Netflix series' fourth season, and his latest comments suggest viewers are in for an unprecedented level of heartbreak.

Speaking on Variety's "Just for Variety" podcast, Garcia-Rulfo deliberately avoided plot specifics but established beyond reasonable doubt that Season 4 would be devastating. "It's the most emotional season—heavy emotion—because of how we found him," he said, alluding to the shocking arrest that left fans with a devastating cliffhanger in the Season 3 finale.

The actor gushed over the Season 4 screenplays, calling them his favorite of the entire series run. "I told the showrunners— even reading them before we started shooting. [This season] is the one that I've enjoyed the most," Garcia-Rulfo revealed. "I've enjoyed all of them, but this one is the one that...

Its debut season premiered on May 13, 2022, and garnered an 80% Rotten Tomatoes score. Ahead of Scream 7, Skeet Ulrich & Matthew Lillard Will Reportedly Reunite in Another Major Horror Sequel
Image
Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard played the iconic Billy Loomis and Stu Macher in 1996's Scream. The duo marked the first Ghostface killers, and never reunited on the screen after their apparent deaths.

Scream 7 will officially bring back Lillard, although it's unclear in which capacity, and Ulrich has also been rumored to be a part of the upcoming slasher. However, if the two reunite as Billy and Stu, it remains to be seen, but fans will get a chance to see the two of them again much sooner. Per industry insider Daniel Ritchman, Ulrich and Lillard will reunite on the big screen in the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

Matthew Lillard starred as Steve Raglan/ William Afton in 2023's Five Nights at Freddy's. Despite his character's fate in the horror's ending, Lillard is set to return in the highly anticipated sequel, too. Ulrich will reportedly also play a major...

X-men '97 Alternate Ending Reveals Scrapped Plans For Kitty Pryde And Colossus' Surprise Debuts
Image
X-Men '97 premiered last March to widespread acclaim, but the series was also mired in controversy thanks to the firing of showrunner Beau DeMayo due to alleged misconduct.

The X-Men: The Animated Series follow-up returns next year, and will deal with a huge cliffhanger which saw Cyclops and Jean Grey stuck in 3960 Ad. Rogue, Nightcrawler, Beast, Professor X and Magneto were sent to Ancient Egypt in 3,000 B.C. (where Apocalypse currently resides), while Wolverine, Storm, and Morph's whereabouts are currently unknown.

In the present day—well, the 1990s—it's down to Forge, Bishop, Jubilee, and Sunspot to find their teammates. However, in an alternate ending shared by DeMayo, we learn that Forge originally had some help from Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat and Colossus.

Lockheed also made an appearance, and it seems the idea was for these three to search for the missing mutants in X-Men '97. As for how they'd achieve that,...

If you’ve opened your Netflix account since last Friday, you’ll notice that a new title has zoomed to the top of the top 10 TV list. That show is The Waterfront, a family crime drama that comes from the mind of none other than Kevin Williamson. Of course, genre fans will know that name from his work with the Scream series, with him actually now in the midst of directing the seventh film, which reunites him with original star Neve Campbell. Yet, Williamson has arguably been even more successful as a showrunner, with a string of hits that include Dawson’s Creek, The Vampire Diaries, and more.

The Waterfront takes place in a fictional coastal town, Havenport, North Carolina, which is lorded over by generations of the Buckley family. When the patriarch, Harlan, played by The Iron Claw and Mindhunter’s Holt McCallany, falls ill, his children, Jake Weary’s...

'Scream 7' Star Anna Camp Hypes Sidney Prescott Being Back in Action in Slasher Sequel
Image
Scream 7, the official return of the Scream franchise after a three-year hiatus, is set for release in February 2026. Fans remain clueless about the details of the slasher sequel, with Paramount Pictures keeping things close to the chest. During filming, the cast and crew were vocal when speaking about the horror sequel, but lately, things have been quiet on the Ghostface front. Fortunately, Anna Camp, one of the franchise's newcomers, has spilled a few details. However, Camp did not spoil anything important, and simply preferred to raise anticipation about the return of none other than Sidney Prescott herself, Neve Campbell.

“It Can Live in Any Form”: Horror Icon, 60, Explains the Scream Franchise's Longevity

For those who have been worried or at least wondering if Scream will come to a screeching halt following the upcoming Scream 7, a recent statement from its creator, Kevin Williamson, leads us to believe it will go on and on — as long as the studio gives it the okay. While an eighth installment hasn’t been confirmed, Williamson shared his belief with the New York Post that the franchise has immense staying power no matter who stays or who goes, revealing,

“The thing about Scream is it can live in any form. And you can return to a character like Sidney and Gale and tell that story, and then the next one can be about someone else. I really like the idea that ‘Scream’ has evolved into a franchise that can expand in those ways.”

Cases in point can be found in the last two films, 2022’s Scream and...
